- We reveal the TRUTH about the Loch Ness monster as we take our boat onto Loch Ness on the Caledonian Canal in Scotland in search of the most mysterious creature in the world, Nessie, aka the Loch Ness monster. Colin talks to Naturalist and Loch Ness expert, Adrian Shine, as we look at hundreds of years of sightings, photographs, and searches of the Loch in a bid to finally answer the question, does the Loch Ness monster exist?

What an admirable, quaint command of the English language, Mr. Shine has. I could listen to him all day long.
Thanks for the video
Me too. Hero of mine. 👍🏻
The interview with the Loch Ness Monster expert was one of the most interesting one I’ve watched. You’re a very good interviewer because you listen to what the other person has to say and don’t interrupt. A great video, happy sailing.
Wow, thank you!
The interview was great. What a distinguished articulate gentleman he was - awesome beard! As always, this episode leaves us wanting more! Have fun Foxes!
Thank you, Alanna. See you next week x
Are you two always this way towards one another? Your relationship is just so refreshing. I know life has it's ups and downs but you both are so much fun to watch together and your videos are so informative as well as beautiful views.
Thank you so much, Rebecca xxx
@@FoxesAfloat you're welcome...safe travels !
I have to say, as a side issue, this is better viewing than most 'natural world/history' programmes on TV today! Excellent!
Wow, thank you!
Great vlog! It's like watching a young Sir Richard Attenborough. Keep going. Great info about Loch Ness and Nessie! More than I ever knew from being in the US.
WOW Thank you so much, Adam 🙏❤️
Fabulous fabulous fabulous,! Loved the interview, loved the photography, ( thank you Shaun you are sooo generous 😂🤣, not everybody would allow their colonoscopy camera to be dangled of the back of a boat.) and Otis! How majestic was he. Definitely Monarch of the glen. Thank you for making my birthday even smileyer than it already was 🥰🥰🥰
Otis Braveheart! 💙
Oh boys! Your videos are better than most programmes on the telly. Your creativity and subject choices are much needed to fill the void of local history/interest programmes, and are so gentle but fun. Wonderful! Love and admiration x
Wow, thank you!
Beautiful landscape. You did a great job interviewing Adrian. He was fascinating. As always, beautifully filmed, great accompanying music, informative and delightful. ❤️🤗❤️🤗❤️🐾
Thank you! Yes, I was very lucky to get to speak with him 👍🏻
Not only are you two a joy to ‘travel’ with, I always come away having learned something new!
I believe you’ve missed your callin’ Colin....you’d have been a terrific teacher! 🌞
Safe travels❣️
Thank you, Tina ❤️❤️🐾
Super episode, Adrian was fantastic!
“Absence of evidence doesn’t mean evidence of absence!” Love it.
Absolutely 👍❤️
I have no idea why your channel ever appeared on my recommended list on youtube. I have no idea why I clicked it. I have watched quite a few after watching the first one. Binged watched previous episodes in the evenings. Keep it up guys, whatever you are doing works for me.
Aww, thanks Stephen!
Once again a fabulous vlog, the standard of footage, editing, music, history, and interview are outstanding. Thank you. Otis looks very at home surveying the loch from the boat too! Keep safe x
WOW! Thank you so much, Otis is loving it 😊
Oh my, I really enjoyed today's vlog! You've done a wonderful job of presenting Nessie and the history of Loch Ness. Adrian Shine's work has been amazing, thanks for reminding us about his life.
Thank you so much!
One of the best youtube videos I have ever watched. Professional does not describe it and I loved the interview with Adrian. Keep it up lads, you two are internet stars!
Aww, thanks!
The interview with Adrian Shine was very educational…thank you for doing this episode😍
Our pleasure!
I’ve always thought your narrow boat adventures were interesting but this episode was so fascinating ,not only because of the beautiful scenery but because of your fact filled commentary about the Loch…like most people I knew of the monster story but the information you supplied was mind blowing …once again a tremendous effort ..I’ve introduced your channel to my 95 yo dad whose father was from Edinburgh ,and he’s enjoying it just as much as me…thanks once again and on to the next episode …safe sailing ..
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed it 👍🏻💙🏴
Love the scenery and the facts about the Lock. The conversation with Adrian Shine was quite interesting. He was very forthright and honest in answering questions. No hype, just facts about the existence/nonexistence/or the possibility of existence. Another great Vlog Gentlemen. Otis seems very at ease and enjoying the experience. Wouldn't it be wonderful if we could see these adventures through his eyes and know what he was thinking? Thank you again, Colin, and Shaun for taking us along on this incredible adventure.👍 Jessiah
Yeah, Adrian has been a hero of mine since childhood.
Fantastic vlog, so much fun! We loved it. You both look refreshed and it's great to see you explore Scotland. Looking forward to next week's vlog. Colin, the amount of work you put into this vlog really shows. As always, thank you for sharing your journey.
Thanks so much! 😊
Doctor Shine interview was great! Well done Colin. Now you have to find Nessie.
Thank you!
LOVE LOVE LOVE the History bullets and THANK YOU for not super imposing Nessie. Everything you 3 do is Brilliant
Thank you, Scot. Appreciate that xx
A lot of people were expecting us to superimpose Nessie, but that would have just ridiculed the subject and we didn't want to do that xxx
Loving this adventure guys. Maybe it's just me but you both seem happier with life, and that makes me happy too. Lots of love to you both and a massive hug for Otis.
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed it 👍🏻💙🏴
I hardly ever watch the TV. , but I never miss an episode of 🦊 Foxes 🦊 Afloat.....why......well because you are more interesting and more entertaining than anything on the box...in my humble opinion. Go guys.
Too right. Not had TV on for months. UA-cam has a wealth of more interesting people. The foxes are at the top of the list. But I still have to pay a licence fee for rubbish that I don't watch.
Wow! Thank you, Geoff!
Wonderful vlog, guys. Has to be among your 'greatest hits'. Adrian Shine: what a fascinating man. Was so absorbed while he was talking I kept forgetting I wasn't watching a mainstream documentary; almost surprised when the camera returned to you, Colin!
As an aside: I did think of Loch Lomond first. The musical piece referencing the lake was the first piece I played for my step-Dad, a proud Scot, on the violin. It was probably awful but I'll never forget the pride and pleasure on his face when I'd finished. I was 7 or 8. We'd visited the area about a year prior.
👍🏻
I'm an avid viewer and really enjoy all of your adventures and videos. I don't comment very often as I know it must be really hard for you to keep up with them all. However I would like to send the three of you all the very best from Buenos Aires.👋 Thank you! 🤗
Thank you so much, Simon 👍🏻
I really like how whenever you two come on I always spend the whole vlog with a smile on my face. Nice to see the monster information and those old newspaper cuttings.
Cheers Andy!
I live in Canada . In the province of British Columbia there is the Okanogan lake which also has a legend of a monster similar to Nessy called Ogopogo .
Awesome xx
Amazing !!. Have been to the Loch years ago and this brought back many happy memories. Thanks so much for taking me back to the past. Keep well and safe. James
Thanks James! Glad we could bring back some memories 👍🏻
Brilliant episode guys, really thought this was one of your best yet. So informative. And brilliant scenery.
Thank you so much! 👍🏻💙🏴
One of your best vids to date, very interesting. You have a real talent for interviewing. Thanks 🐟
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed it 👍🏻💙🏴
In the late seventies and early 80s, I spent many many weeks in the summer holidays as a member of the Loch Ness and Morar investigation project. We were taking underwater silt samples from over 1000 foot deep, I was setting up under water lighting and sonar and camera equipment etc etc. I spent many a night at camp fires with Adrian and many other people like him who were experts in many different fields, for a 15 and 16 year old is was a great way of spending the school holidays! PS The mooring you had your boat at Urquhart harbour was the same harbour and jetty where John Cobb was based during his water speed records!
WOW what an awesome story, I bet you have a few more to tell 👍❤️
This is a great adventure. Thank you so much for dragging us along with you.
Our pleasure!
@@FoxesAfloat Let's not rumours about that now. ;-)
And again an interesting and captivating video. You are a great researcher, interviewer, narrator and a superbe presenter! You've got the talent to make the people you interview telling their story enthuseasticly and unique!
Wow, thank you!
What an absolutely wonderful episode this was. I think this has to be my favourite one you have done yet. The interview was excellent, great questions and what a lovely man to have the opportunity to speak to! Thank you.
Yes, I feel very lucky to have had the opportunity to speak with Adrian 👍🏻
absolutely stunning, I never get tired of this part of Scotland. I hope you are enjoying your trip, you all look fab on the boat. ps, Nessie goes to warmer climes at this time of the year 😂😂
We're loving our trip thanks, Sandra xx
Thank you for taking this woman who will never get to Scotland on this ride with you. I truly enjoy every video you both do i learn so much of history, i never know. I like you both so much.
WOW Thank you so much, Lynn. Glad you enjoyed it 🙏❤️
Great video guys!
Loved the interview. “Absence of evidence is not evidence of absence”. Profound!
Keep up the great output!
PS I opened my calendar yesterday. Brilliant pictures of you all.
It was my favourite line from the whole interview 👍🏻👍🏻
Thanks guys that was fantastic, I've seen Adrian Shine on the Telly loads of times over many years doing his great investigations into the 'Nessy' existence and I'm fairly sure that he is actually a sceptic. What a great cruise, I hope you had a great time. Take care and all the best. Stevie
He is a sceptic, but based on his own findings which I can't really argue with 👍🏻🏴
Got a little tear in my eye during outtakes, when you called Otis, Dillon. He’s still with you lads, isn’t he?
I do that all the time, even though it's been almost 17 months since he passed 🥲
I am from Inverness. In fact I am one of the funeral directors who uses tomnahurich cemetery one of the largest cemeteries in the country. The Caledonian canal is such a great way to explore the beautiful scenery of the highlands. It is really cool that you guys are up where I am from I have watched your videos in England but it is amazing you are up in Scotland. I hope you enjoy the trip.
Thank you, Louis, we're having a great time up here xx
Love you guys !!! So much fun watching this. Happy to see Loch Ness !!! have heard about it all my life and would have never got a chance to see it. Thanks to you we are here Thanks Guys Absolutely beautiful video !
Glad you enjoyed it!
Great vlog and very interesting. A great interview where you let the gentleman talk without interference which is a rare thing these days. Scotland is gorgeous.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Beautiful landscape. Great interview, i most enjoy when you take a dive into history
Thank you! I was lucky to get a chance to speak with Adrian.
You two are so entertaining. Thanks for taking us along on your memories.
Always a pleasure, Momo!
Otis is Master of All He Surveys ! Terrific vid fellas, much love from Florida Laura 🍊🤗🧡
😂👍🏻
Thanks guys. Another great show. Few know how much effort is involved to get this kind of production value.
Much appreciated!
What a great episode! Thanks guys.
You're welcome, Scott. Thank you x
Very beautiful scenery and very informative commentary. Otis appears smaller while in the midst of that much water but still a cutie. Thanks for sharing your adventure. Made my day.
Smaller or just far away? 😚
I honestly don't know how you guys produce and accomplish all of your wonderful videos. So many cameras, top quality post-production-editing, all the great history, etc.. All I can say is Many Thanks! (And please do beware of Otis, obviously the original Loch Ness Monster)
Wow, thank you!
I love all of your videos because I always learn something new. This was one of my favorites! I’ve always been interested in Loch Ness.
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed it 👍🏻💙🏴
Loved this. Adrian is truly an interesting chap and what a life he has led.
100% agree 👍🏻
The production quality of this channel is unreal. Great job Foxes!
Thank you so much! 👍🏻💙🏴
Absolutely breathtaking scenery and fantastic cinematography- I also loved the interview with Adrian Shine - what an interesting man!
He's one of my heroes. Truly inspirational!
You two are the Poor Man’s professors. Thanks for the enlightenment.
Our pleasure!
Hope that both of you are having the best time in such amazing surroundings You can’t help but feel dwarfed by how beautiful it is 👌🏻🤗
It really is!
Always enjoy watching you two every Friday @ 4, which is 11:00am Central Time in Robbinsdale, Minnesota USA. Not sure how I'm going to wean myself away from the channel until I get home from work once I head back into the office in Jan. 2022. I've learned a lot from you, for instance, I had no idea there were so many canals in the UK and people lived on narrowboats. In fact, I had never heard of a narrowboat before I came across your channel. Different countries, different areas, different knowledge. Boating wasn't something I was into unless it had to do with hopping into the boat and going fishing out on the lake. Colin, I want to thank you for the amount of research and knowledge you share every week. And Shaun thank you for keeping the boat still so the camera can take beautiful shots. Some of your comments and facial gestures crack me up. My next thing is to get one of your calendars which will hang either in my cube at work or my workroom at home; either way, it will be a welcome visual. Thanks again guys, and can't wait to see you until next Friday. Stay safe and warm and give Otis a hug and a smooch for me.
Will do, thanks!
Greetings from Minnesota, USA. Enjoying the vids, even though you are off of the canals. If you are into bug, beautiful inland lakes, you are more than welcome to travel over here to Minnesota for a cruise on Lake Superior.
Maybe one day!
I'm really enjoying this tour of Scotland. The interview with Adrian was wonderful.
I was so lucky to get to speak with him 👍🏻 Thank you so much! 👍🏻🏴
Thanks guys. Looking forward to the next video from your great adventure.
Our pleasure!
What beautiful scenery in Scotland. You boys have a wonderful time and thanks for the vlogs. Hug to Otis.
Glad you enjoyed it
Loved this video! Saw a merchandise opportunity in one of your shots. You need to get a profile photo of Otis wearing his life jacket and make it a t-shirt. Market it as “Foxes Afloat” but scratch out Foxes and superimpose “Otis” as in “Otis Afloat”. You’ll rake it in for sure! Love you guys! Enjoy your time in Scotland. Cheers! 😀🍻
Maybe one day!
Wow, you worked hard researching etc again. Loving the scenery in Scotland. It’s a refreshing change from our uk canals, even though I love them too. Look forward to Friday. 😊
Thanks 👍
What an amazing episode. Right up my street and really can't wait to go up there myself soon
This place is amazing x
So much atmosphere with those mists of rain showers being drawn like a lace curtain through the landscape, and at one point the front of the boat heading for a tiny patch of blue in stormy sky. What a contrast the wide open space from the restricted canals. Nice music. Hope to see you both wearing kilts next week.
They're on order but will take a few weeks yet 😉
Excellent video guys. It was so interesting👍 l was aware of Adrian Shine as he was featured on a couple of programmes I have watched on television.
He's a hero of mine.
This little Scottish series has been wonderful. Very well done guys.
Our pleasure Vic. Loads more to come from here
That was an amazing episode! Really enjoyed every minute.
Thank you so much! 👍🏻💙🏴
The interview with Adrian was spot on. Colin is a great interviewer, letting him talk and listening to what he was saying before asking again. The Loch is beautiful, and its size gives you perspective.
Thanks Arthur!
Can't understand why anyone would hit the "do not like" button...seriously!! You guys are very obviously having a great time and so is Otis. Love and Hugs as always.
We make these for a laugh and entertainment. Some people don't like our style for whatever reason and that's totally cool. Haters are always going to hate 💙
Great episode, Fantastic interview with Adrian he never gets to tell everything on other programmes, stay safe, hope you find the monster. See you next Friday ❤🛥🌈
This one was edited down by about half too. Amazing man! 👍🏻
Said it before and I will say it again... You are both absolute legends...
Loved this episode. Keep em coming lads.
Much appreciated
I have seen so many videos of Loch Ness, but your video was the best. You really captured the true beauty and size of it. Many thanks, guys.
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed it 👍🏻💙🏴
Exceptionally well done vlog Shaun and Colin! Well done! Loved your interview, and all the breathtaking scenery! Really really enjoyed this one. Thank you for taking us along on your adventures! xx

What a brilliant episode from the Further Adventures of Foxes Afloat. I really loved the interview with Adrian Shine. What a professional job you did with that Colin. You have also proved to many children that Father Christmas really does live up North!
I must say that I have never seen you both full of so much excitement?
Happy cruising to you both, love - Fletch - 💖
Ah, thanks, Fletch. We really love it up here so much!

Our pleasure! Thank you, Carole xxxx
One of the best ever episodes! Thanks!

Wow I didn’t recognise how fast time went by. I’ve seen lots of stuff about Loch Ness and its monster. But your episode was special. Thx Colin and Shaun .

What an episode you guys really went out on this one and I loved every minute of it! I guarantee you guys will stumble across Nessie :)
Do you think so? 🤣
@@FoxesAfloat YES!
One of the best boating holidays we had, a 25th wedding anniversary present from our daughter. Your video is bringing so many happy memories, thank you 👍
Our pleasure!
Just loving your Scottish adventures and the interview was brilliant. Even when you get your new boat, please consider doing, at least, an annual adventure like this one maybe again on a cruiser. Bye for now.
Never say never 👍🏻😉
Thank you for such an excellent programme. I have never been to Loch Ness and have loved seeing it with you and extra information is a bonus. Have a great time and a hug for Ottis, so well behaved.
Thanks so much Madeline 👍🏻
