As a yachtsman I can give you useful tips for if your boat breaks down in the middle of a loch. You need to send a distress signal. Here are two of the signals you can use at sea. First, fly your Union Jack upside down. That one may be a bit subtle so you could also set fire to a barrel of tar on the fo’csle. If these official signals are a bit too dramatic you could always get your mobile phone out . . . Really loved these Scottishvlogs - looking forward to the next ones!

When I went to Scotland on a bus tour many years ago, we stopped for a photo-op with the “Welcome to Scotland” sign. Literally, on the English side it was sunny with blue skies and on the Scottish side.....rain.
The funniest "Welcome to" sign I've seen was in the Pyrenees. It was sideways to the road, so that it could point to both France and Spain. Someone had spray painted it all out, so it now said Catalunya, both ways. On the Ireland/NI border, for the sake of political tensions, the signs merely say "speed limits in miles per hour" or "speed limits in km/h", nothing more. No mention of an international border.
I just turned the calendar over to December (I know it's late, but...), anyway, I wanted to tell you that your picture of Dillon for December was a bit sad because I lost my Buddy, my friend, this year so it was appropriate that I find the time to think about both Dillon and Buddy at this happy time of year. They did their job so well of being a pleasure, a love, always there when you needed them. Thank you for beautiful, remembered, wonderful beings. And for you having the courage to find your new friend Otis.
We used Caley Cruisers - highly recommended. Done it twice. Boats are stunning. When we did it Urquhart Bay was £10 for overnight stay but all other moorings were free. Caley give you a map that indicates time to travel and local eateries, taxi details, etc. Best holiday ever 👍
Great information, delivered with humour. On a trip to Eilean Donan castle in the Highlands, the tour guide, who was wearing a kilt, said it kept him a lot warmer than the uniform he'd previously worn.
Will you come for a walk in the moonlight, Mary? Ach, no, Jock. What’s the matter, Mary, is it the gleam in my ee putting you off? Ach, no Jock, it’s the tilt in your kilt! Enjoy, and how about a tartan vest for Otis?

I have been watching your vlogs now for a long time every single week. Found you during the lockdown in the USA. I have to say that in this video you both seem happier than I have ever witnessed either of you to be. You both were so very relaxed and it was visible on your faces and in your voices. @@FoxesAfloat So now its time for the Forth and Clyde canal and the Union canal?? If so, I am looking forward seeing you both in the Falkirk Wheel. Done it myself, its amazing!
@@FoxesAfloat and I have to say that I love the historical descriptions that you provide of the various sites you pass by. As with the UK, there are a tremendous amount of history in France. I look forward to learning from you two!
We had a bus tour guide in Nova Scotia, Canada who wore a kilt. He explained to us, as he stood at the door with one foot up on the bus steps, that he was glad this was the last tour of the season and he was going inside to his carpentry winter job, because it was getting cold. I can imagine you guys dancing the fling in your new kilts. Enjoy.
My brother did an Outward Bound course in Scotland. They had a Canadian amongst them who'd never heard of a haggis. They convinced him it was a small animal that lived on the side of a hill and only went round one way as the legs on one side of it was shorter than the other. When they were strung out along the trail someone up front would shout HAGGIS! and the Canadian would come running up from the rear just to get a look at it. Poor bugger never did see one.
This was another informative episode with a lot of Shaun chatting (how did he do it?). Your journey in Scotland and the Caledonian was a great series. I look forward to see you doing the Highland fling!
I so enjoy your videos. As a single granny, I only wish I could find a traveling company to share this adventure. Thank you for “taking” me along! ❤️❤️
I love your videos of your trip to the Caledonian canal. You 2 guys are a crack up! 😂 keep up the good work. Your videos are beautiful! I’m glad you enjoyed your trip.
Wonderful, practical info. Thanks so much. Definitely, the narrow boats have more character, but it was obvious that Otis enjoyed the space. Another hired boat for the next step? can’t wait! Thanks gents!
hi lads..as an Aussie I've been to Scotland four times..ranging from late May to July...and I can tell you, summer temps in Scotland are only a few degrees warmer than winter back home in Melbourne..you've got to dress in layers because you're either putting it on or taking it off, the layers that is..I think on my last trip in 2017 I actually had days where I was able to strip to a cami/singlet, but most days were spent in long sleeves...and it is really true, the first sign of sun and a Scotsman WILL get his kit off..chuckle...it may only be around 17*c but that's enough to bare one's chest...I miss travelling to Scotland AND England..oh, and Wales...beautiful country there..I just miss visiting the UK period...I've been as far south as Lands End in Cornwall and all the way north to Kirkwall in the Orkney isles..as far west as the west coast of The Isle of Harris and as far east as Aberdeen...I would like to do the 500 in the north/west of Scotland, but I doubt that'll happen..so where are you off to next boys..??
Excellent set of videos, really enjoyed watching them. I stay very close to Banavie so know the canal fairly well and always good to see it get publicity. If yous come back a rail hunt round Fort Augustus might turn up some history that could interest you. There was a railway swing bridge there too for the railway which ran down to the pier there. The railway ran from Spean Bridge to Fort Augustus but closed way back before Beeching had a chance.

As a regular kilt wearer, I have to comment that there is a definitive answer to "the question." What you wear under your kilt has to do with what you're doing when you're wearing it. If you're standing or walking, you won't want to wear any more than you can help. If you're sitting, the one thing you want to prevent is having the wool in constant contact with your skin. Why not? Some people find it uncomfortable, but even for those who don't, the reason you might want to wear underwear is to prevent skin oils and any other bodily fluids from being absorbed ointo the fabric. That's because MOTHS just love protein, and their maggoty little offspring will eat the wool if it has protein in it. I had a womderful fling with a tender young thing when I was wearing a kilt--and I left some...uh...protein behind. Which was exactly where the wee maggots ate through. An expensive fling it was.

The Caledonian Canal looks amazing. When we were up there - we never did get around to visiting that canal (so we will have to rectify that). We did some other things which you'll be doing in upcoming vlogs though - so I look forward to seeing that. I am glad to hear about the great tutelage from LeBoat - it really does make a difference.
Thanks guys🙂 I enjoyed your visit to the Caldonian Canal and looking forward to your next adventure. Scotland is so beautiful truly God's country. Safe travels 🙂🙂🙂
Absolutely loved the vlogs from this trip guys! It was brilliant and this was a great précis of your trials and tribulations! Thanks for making our Friday evening's do enjoyable! 👌👍
As a true landlubber and someone who gets seasick in a puddle, I'm not sure that would be for me. But I did enjoy the whole series from Scotland. Thank you so much for sharing your trip. All the best. Love Stephen 🦼
This series has been extremely enjoyable ,you captured the scenery and atmosphere beautifully.I was hoping to see the Falkirk wheel but maybe another time .As a cadet I spent one summer on a ship full of iron ore laid up in the Gareloch we had a skiff with an outboard and ran a liberty boat service for all the other ships laid up there .We bought some fishing lines and would take holiday makers in Hellens borough jigging for Mackerel ,five bob a trip Take care see you soon
Great vlog! I've been looking forward to this for a week and you did not disappoint, thank you. OK, my question is: seeing the wine glasses unprotected on the shelf, I was surprised they weren't better protected from falling, especially when you were doing wheelies and whirlies and things (oh, so much fun wasn't it!). Hopefully you put them in a safer place?
The footage & scenery was brilliant, so much space. Great Vlog as always boy's can't wait to see the New boat I'm sure you'll be coming my way next year. see you next week.
I have been binging these vids. As a photographer Im loving the incredible images you have captured. I love your editing style. What makes it is the sheer joy that pours out of you both. The histories your sharing are also very interesting. Thank you for this.
Excellent as usual. Thought you were going on Falkirk wheel or is that next time. As regular visitors to Scotland we can confirm changes in weather within a day. Our best on the Waverley thick mist in the sound, diverted to Tobermory $) degrees and a chemist shop inundated with people buying suntan cream. Glad you enjoyed the trip
Brilliant briefing. Thanks. Looking ahead to when travel from Canada to the UK is a reasonable proposition. Had to cancel our trip just before the first lockdown. DOn't want to go through that again.
You two are some of my favourite people! Love to see your vlogs and a very special hug and kiss for Otis. He is such a sweetie. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for the information and entertinment you give to us each week. I can hardy wait to see your new narrowboat home. Are you going to give us an insight into the building of it? I hope so as it is fascinating to see one being built along with the talented experts that put it together. Thank you and virtual hugs from Canada.

Glad you’ve enjoyed part 1 of the adventures beyond Silver Fox the First, can’t wait to see where you are headed next! Thank you for another spot of sunshine and laughter on a Friday afternoon :)

Hi Colin and Shaun great video guy's if you both are going to be wearing kilts I think you guys should have some bagpipes to go with the kilts or a Scottish hat hope you guys are keeping well as specially as this new variant stain going around looking forward for next Friday guys and take care of your self's including Otis.
As always gentlemen thanks. When you were describing steering it struck home. I'm mostly a sailor, the majority of sailboats you steer from the stern, even if there is a wheel. When several years ago we rented canal cruiser on the Rideau Canal in Canada, a bit more basic than the LeBoat vessel you had and we saw on the canal regularly you steered from much further forward. When I was on open water I didn't find it a problem but coming into the locks I had a very hard time swinging the stern in. By the way I can highly recommend the Rideau. Its a world heritage site and it is mostly as it was in the 1840s when it was last enlarged.
Oh sweet Lord, that picture of Colin on bicycletrip in Scotland reminded me of one of my mad youthfull 🚴♀️ trips to the Faroe Islands in midsummer. Sleet, hail and sheeps baying and staring at me wondering what F... I was doing. ( I wondered sometimes too. 😁😉)

You have to do the Caledonian at some point, Justine. It’s amazing 😻
Thanks guys🙂 I enjoyed your visit to the Caldonian Canal and looking forward to your next adventure. Scotland is so beautiful truly God's country. Safe travels 🙂🙂🙂
We love this country 🏴
Been a lovely series, really enjoyed it.
So glad you enjoyed it xx
Absolutely loved the vlogs from this trip guys! It was brilliant and this was a great précis of your trials and tribulations! Thanks for making our Friday evening's do enjoyable! 👌👍
Glad you enjoyed the Caledonian xx
I go on holiday with Hoseasons with my children and now my grandchildren exploring the canals and NorfolkBroads on their hire boats always so helpful
Thank you, Suzanne xxx
As a true landlubber and someone who gets seasick in a puddle, I'm not sure that would be for me. But I did enjoy the whole series from Scotland. Thank you so much for sharing your trip. All the best. Love Stephen 🦼
WHAT ! even a small puddle 😳
@@brucerawsthorne8936 The smallest
OMG in a puddle??? Glad you enjoyed it though, Stephen xx

Thank you, Jon 🙏❤️🏴
I cannot believe you'd forget to buy a kilt for Otis - worn in the traditional way of course!🤣
🤣🤣🤣🤣
Wonderful, Thank you so much for taking us on your journey. Another canal on the to do list.xx
Please do!
This series has been extremely enjoyable ,you captured the scenery and atmosphere beautifully.I was hoping to see the Falkirk wheel but maybe another time .As a cadet I spent one summer on a ship full of iron ore laid up in the Gareloch we had a skiff with an outboard and ran a liberty boat service for all the other ships laid up there .We bought some fishing lines and would take holiday makers in Hellens borough jigging for Mackerel ,five bob a trip
Take care see you soon
Oooooh the Falkirk wheel is still to come, we haven't finished with Scotland just yet xxx
They were pretty safe xx
Thank you very much for calming many first timers.
👍👍👍❤️
The footage & scenery was brilliant, so much space. Great Vlog as always boy's can't wait to see the New boat I'm sure you'll be coming my way next year. see you next week.
Thanks 👍
I have been binging these vids. As a photographer Im loving the incredible images you have captured. I love your editing style. What makes it is the sheer joy that pours out of you both. The histories your sharing are also very interesting. Thank you for this.
Awesome, thank you so much ❤️
Excellent as usual.
All that is to come xx
Brilliant briefing. Thanks. Looking ahead to when travel from Canada to the UK is a reasonable proposition. Had to cancel our trip just before the first lockdown. DOn't want to go through that again.
Hope you manage a trip over here soon xx
Thank you Boys, I did this in 2015. It was fabulous and watching your videos have brought back some lovely memories.
Wonderful!
absolutely loved the Caledonial Canal videos ... wonderful and a great job ... all the thumbs up to them 👍
Thank you 🙏
Another great vlog full of humour and excellent information. Thanks for this.
Our pleasure!
Thank you so much! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Wonderful summary of some of the key things to know for those planning a similar trip, and as ever informative and well delivered. Glad you’ve enjoyed part 1 of the adventures beyond Silver Fox the First, can’t wait to see where you are headed next! Thank you for another spot of sunshine and laughter on a Friday afternoon :)
Glad you enjoyed this first bit, Maudie xx

If you break down just call Nessie, she will tow you in. Love you guys, and Otis of course😘😘😘
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Hi Colin and Shaun great video guy's if you both are going to be wearing kilts I think you guys should have some bagpipes to go with the kilts or a Scottish hat hope you guys are keeping well as specially as this new variant stain going around looking forward for next Friday guys and take care of your self's including Otis.
OMG I can't play the simplest if instruments, so I'd have no chance with bagpipes 🤣🤣🤣
You two are the funniest and I so look forward to each installment
Thank you, Ted xx
Great video with very interesting information, thank you for sharing.!
You’re welcome, Richard xx
Awesome xx
Hello guys. Hello Otis 💕
Hello 👋🏻
Thank you for all the great answers. Learned a lot. See you next week.
You bet!
What a great conclusion to a great adventure! I can’t wait to see what’s next!
Great exciting stuff..... still in Scotland xx
WOW! 👍🙏❤️
Hey guys ! Love it when Shaun chips in more to the conversation! Could just squeeze his lovely ( facial had to say that for clarification for Colin!) cheeks ! More Otis please ! Love you guys and as always have a great weekend ! X
🤣🤣🤣🤣
You two are just a plain delight :)
Awww thank you 🙏❤️🏴
Wow that scenery is absolutely mind-blowing, we have done the Norfolk Broads many times, but fancy something different and we love the Highlands. Great Vlog!
You trip around Scotland has been brilliant! So professional & so interesting. The way you both present the information with great music and video footage is better than the BBC.
Keep it up. I cannot wait to see your next vlog back on a long boat in Scotland. xxx Take care both xxx Ashley.
Thank you 🙏
