@@donev_Yes, your argument is VERY dumb! Cause it literally contradicts your very first sentence lol if 90% of the rappers where you’re from is inspired by Eminem. Then I can easily say the same bout here in the US bout Jayz. where hip hop originated from and where 99% of the music industry acts get discovered. Who’s the last artist to blow up from your country again?
Too much of the focus (understandably) was just on America. If you factor it in Globally? Honestly it’s not even close. Eminem’s so pervasive everywhere. Not even sure Jay is top 5 globally impact wise Another thing not picked up on, is just how many people (myself included) now listen to Rakim, LL, Redman etc etc just cuz of how passionate Em’s been for the last 20 years promoting old heads. This in turn made me fall in love with the genre even more (I’m sure there’s many like me I’m that regard)
Em’s initial impact is not even debatable, from SSLP to Get Rich or Die trying. Em was the biggest thing on the planet, he was the closest to Michael Jackson’s level of fame I think anyone’s ever got. He went back to back diamond helped put Dr Dre back on top of the rap game and put out 50 Cent who also went Diamond and put out one of the highest grossing films of 2002 which introduced mainstream audiences to Battle Rap.
Eminem had a bigger impact as a rapper, Jay Z bigger impact in business. Eminem inspired a bunch of rappers all over the world. Jay Z inspired rappers how to promote and invest like him. Impact in different ways.
Em broadened the global reach and audience of hip hop which then brought a lot of money to a lot of people and artists that came after him He boosted the popularity of battle rap through 8 mile and other endorsements He influenced and inspired countless artists including Kendrick, Cole from a hip hop lens and people like Usher and Frank Ocean when looking outside He put on 50 Cent which then sent major cultural waves through 50s imprint including G-Unit He established Shade 45, a major staple hip hop platform with icons like Sway And countless other contributions to hip hop - downplaying his impact to "made more white people listen" is wild. The expansion of the audience spanned all races across the globe - look at his presence in Africa and Asia. Both GOATs at the end of the day 🐐🐐
i mean the influence on rappers argument goes for Jay too, specially for those two artists you mentioned (cole and kdot) PLENTYrappers have said jay z is an influence for them
If we're talking purely rap then Don canon is right Em is huge all over the world. Jay is too of course but people in America don't realize how many fans Em has in the uk. In Europe. In India. In Africa. The Latinos love him too. Then as far as influence on artists many big names today are Em students and not just the ones Em himself find corny like the mgks and the macklemore but also Kendrick is a massive Em fan and mentioned him in his top 5. J cole said he basically copied Em on his first few songs. Tyler took his whole style from Em. And its not just rappers. Now as an overall influence above just music it's Jay without question. If both Jay and Em do a press conference right now to discuss the industry or politics way more people will go to Jay z press conference. If Jay starts wearing something he will be copied all over. Fm doesn't have that type of influence
@@wetknuckles no that's why I had the laughing emoji it was a joke obviously because people went crazy for a minute when Jay did it often even though it was always around but my original point was that if Jay started wearing something not really seen before that would have more impact than Em because Jay is more of a trend setter than Em. So Jay wins in that aspect. I also think that it's because it's essential to him to be a marketing God whereas Em just focuses on rap
I appreciate that Feefo chose Jay but was still objective with acknowledging Em. I think Myke was pretty objective on this too even though it was obvious he would pick Em
I remember getting into hip hop and found out who Drake, Em, Kanye, Lil Wayne were right off the back because they were really popping in the early 2010s. Then I started to do my do due diligence and started to study the game, found out who Biggie and Pac were, that lead me to Wu Tang Clan who I fell in love with, then onto Nas' Illmatic which I loved. I'm not going to lie it took me very long to even look into Jay Z's direction, I did not know who he was, did not even know he was married to Beyonce nothing like that. Eventually after going down the massive rabbit hole of artists was when I found him and pieced together who he was.

I fell in love with Hiphop when I heard curtian calls album on a bootleg CD that my elder brother got me, I was 10.. had no clue about hiphop or the race of Em. I'm from Brazil. For me its not even a question. All of the people I know were introduced to rap because of Eminem. A lot of the dudes that try to under rhymes and complexity, all because of Eminem primarily. The way this dude mixed rap with pop and still made it work is something no one can take away from him. Imagine hip hop giving a fuck what a Brazilian thinks. Y'all so anti black you got forty different ways to describe black people instead of saying black, all because you hate black people and want them brainwashed into thinking they are pardo or some other shit. Hip hop and rap is black and Eminem ain't hip hop.

Well I will say this, bumping music inside a car is not an argument I would use to say someone is more listened to but I use it because I’ve heard people like Gucci mane and the game and others in the US though saying that nobody listens to eminem in their cars. All over the world, way more BLACK people listen to Eminem than Jay Z
Honestly, Africans on the continent generally have the some of the worst taste when it comes to hip-hop and don’t even listen to it like that, so it’s no surprise that a lot of them think Eminem is the greatest.
We in South Africa Cape Town joburg Durban everywhere eminem is bigger ! We love his music when it comes on in the streets in cars in clubs So jay z is big eminem is bigger
the issue with this debate as every american debate, you guys do not care about impact in Europe, we had a big hip hop scene since early 90's with high quality hip hop in France, Jay Z was big for underground hip hop, for the boys from the hood but when Eminem came the first time at the radio it brought hip hop into the eyes of EVERYBODY, the same way MJ did it with basketball. My answer is they had both the same impact at different period of time for different kind of people, Jayz was incredibly big in the 90's here and Eminem made hip hop popular in Europe in the 2000's but because in the 2000's we also entered the online era then it helped Eminem a lot because he was trendy and had drama.
Eminem brought more eyes on Hiphop his impact made HipHop more universal. There’s plenty of MC’s that sight Eminem as their biggest influence. Jay-Z is responsible for acts like Kanye West but his business is definitely his claim to fame. Both achieved so much for the culture so I personally don’t think it’s fair to say 1 impacted more than the other.
Just the money from the white neighborhoods. And sheer number of white people affects the culture a lot to even have a names like Stan. I'm not even an Eminem fan, but I can't really deny his impact on hip-hop itself. He's basically the token white guy that we want to go by business side. And yeah. Jay z but hip hop impact on the culture globally easily. Eminem
Were people in the west and south listening to Jay like that? Em had a hold on the entire country. Like I feel like they (not Myke) really downplaying how loved Em was/is.
Within Hiphop its debatable but overall pop culture and hiphop is pop culture its not even a debate. I was a teen when Em blew up and apart from Snoop and Maybe 50 cent Ive never seen so much hype around an artist especially during the MMLP era.
If we are talking music, its Eminem and its not really close. Hov has more impact behind the scenes in relation to business moves. But in terms of Hip Hop music its Eminem all day.
It's Eminem and it's not even close. Fortunately as most people have mentioned in the comments already, Em's impact worldwide is INSANE. Em can fill out Stadiums in ANY country of the world, whether they speak English in the country or not. I love Jay, but he isn't bigger or more influential than Em, objectively speaking.
And the funny thing is most haters know in their heart eminem is great. Look at everyone who publicly dissed eminem, they all used to praise him. Nick, mgk, tee grizzly, sada baby, game, jamar, icp, canibus, joe budden, heck even benzino.
Let me tell you a thing. India's population is 3X that of USA and every single person who listens to hip hop here in India their first and favourite rapper was Eminem. He literally dominated 21st century rap culture with his singles, features, music videos and by starring in probably most impactful rap movie "8 mile" . he won an Oscar for a rap song for the first time in history, also he has more Grammys for rap albums than Jay-Z. Sure Jay-Z has more Grammys but if you look into it, about 10 of his Grammy's he'd won were for the other artist and he was just featuring on their songs. Apart from that Eminem is the top 10 best-selling artists of all time. And the final nail in the coffin Eminem renegaded Jay-Z on his own song.
"You think I give a damn about a grammy? Half you critics can't even stomach me, but let alone stand me" - Literally on Ems first ever single haha. I choose Jay but respect your opinion.
I also forgot to add one thing: Jay-Z never abled to out rap his peers. Whenever he was featured on song with elite rappers like Nas, Eminem, Andre 3000, Biggie, Rakim, even Kanye West he's the weakest link of the song. Examples : 1. Nas outdid Jay-Z in black republican and success. 2. Eminem in renegade of course 3. Rakim in The Watcher 2 4. Andre 3000 in 30 Something & I Do 5. Biggie in almost anything 6. Kanye West practically carried the whole Watch the Throne and Run this town.
i dont think Jay z was ever the "biggest" rapper out in any of the eras in hip hop but his longevity and business moves put him in the goat conversations forsure

@@Station_AI it’s not really about having a positive impact. The fact that em broke past the boundaries and got a lot of non-native hip-hop listeners to tune in and even become fans and rappers as well is profound, even if it isn’t all a direct positive.
To Myke's point, impact isn't always a positive thing. Like, the murders of Pac and Biggie had a massive impact on hip-hop, and no one would argue those are good things. Impact is all about how hip-hop felt after it happened, not how it reacted.
The Jay bias is wild, honestly a lot of this was just looking at the positives of Jay and none of the negatives. What about the negatives, diluting the culture with just $$ grabs, promotions, deals, turning away the artistry for commerce etc. That has to be factored into the conversation. Just because Jay empowers people through his devotion to capitalism, plenty who came after did not. They only cared about the business.

Jay Z’s impact on what’s cool seems overstated. I’m from Atlanta & never really looked at Jay Z that way. Plus he’s had a few misses/things he said was out or not cool & they endured. I feel like people who look to Jay Z for what’s cool or what’s in are people who usually fall for arbitrary & reputational value (fashion, etc) and usually are less creative themselves. But I digress
@muleya mwiinga jay Z has alot of rappers citing him as an influence from Kendrick, Kanye, Lupe Fiasco, benny the butcher, Cam'ron, Lil wayne, to name a few. We used to listen more to Pac, Biggie, Ja Rule, Nelly, DMX or Outkast and Kanye and Lil Wayne years after. I prefer Hov but I don’t get how the answer isn’t Eminem
Em’s initial impact is not even debatable, from SSLP to Get Rich or Die trying. Em was the biggest thing on the planet, he was the closest to Michael Jackson’s level of fame I think anyone’s ever got. He went back to back diamond helped put Dr Dre back on top of the rap game and put out 50
Cent who also went Diamond and put out one of the highest grossing films of 2002 which introduced mainstream audiences to Battle Rap.
Eminem had a bigger impact as a rapper, Jay Z bigger impact in business. Eminem inspired a bunch of rappers all over the world. Jay Z inspired rappers how to promote and invest like him. Impact in different ways.
Promote and invest like him? Like who?
When you go outside of usa the conversation would be eminem vs 2pac
Cap I'm from Nigeria & it's hov it's not even close
I am 100% with Myke, the answer is Eminem. It’s not close, Eminem is global. I am glad Myke was on this panel and was unbiased.
how many arguments Myke came with for the other dude to just say ''I feel''
Biggest impact means, who affected hip hop the most. It’s definitely Eminem.
Hov
How?
Em broadened the global reach and audience of hip hop which then brought a lot of money to a lot of people and artists that came after him
He boosted the popularity of battle rap through 8 mile and other endorsements
He influenced and inspired countless artists including Kendrick, Cole from a hip hop lens and people like Usher and Frank Ocean when looking outside
He put on 50 Cent which then sent major cultural waves through 50s imprint including G-Unit
He established Shade 45, a major staple hip hop platform with icons like Sway
And countless other contributions to hip hop - downplaying his impact to "made more white people listen" is wild. The expansion of the audience spanned all races across the globe - look at his presence in Africa and Asia.
Both GOATs at the end of the day 🐐🐐
No one is mentioning Eminems white privilege. He has advantages that Jay Z doesn't have. Em is more global because of his white privilege.
i mean the influence on rappers argument goes for Jay too, specially for those two artists you mentioned (cole and kdot) PLENTYrappers have said jay z is an influence for them
If we're talking purely rap then Don canon is right Em is huge all over the world.
What the hell fashion does Jay z have ? Doesn't he mainly just wear black

Then I started to do my do due diligence and started to study the game, found out who Biggie and Pac were, that lead me to Wu Tang Clan who I fell in love with, then onto Nas' Illmatic which I loved. Honestly, Africans on the continent generally have the some of the worst taste when it comes to hip-hop and don’t even listen to it like that, so it’s no surprise that a lot of them think Eminem is the greatest.

the issue with this debate as every american debate, you guys do not care about impact in Europe, we had a big hip hop scene since early 90's with high quality hip hop in France, Jay Z was big for underground hip hop, for the boys from the hood but when Eminem came the first time at the radio it brought hip hop into the eyes of EVERYBODY, the same way MJ did it with basketball.

Without Nas nobody would even care about Renegade.
Mumbai is has the population of the USA.. Outside of the USA, Beyonce carries Jay-Z
I also forgot to add one thing: Jay-Z never abled to out rap his peers. Whenever he was featured on song with elite rappers like Nas, Eminem, Andre 3000, Biggie, Rakim, even Kanye West he's the weakest link of the song.
Examples :
1. Nas outdid Jay-Z in black republican and success.
2. Eminem in renegade of course
3. Rakim in The Watcher 2
4. Andre 3000 in 30 Something & I Do
5. Biggie in almost anything
6. Kanye West practically carried the whole Watch the Throne and Run this town.

Eminem is more impactful and that’s a fact, stan alone is more impactful then Jay-z whole catalogue, that shit created a word on its own and a culture behind it, em got murals all over the world, EM T-shirt and lyrics you see them all over Africa, Asia and even Australia, he got murals in every country and his lyrics on the the wall of every corner of this globe, so most of y’all talking feelings over facts, and the fact is EMINEM is 40x times more impactful
You are talking numbers not influence. Em was big but he didn't change the game.
@@styleformen7535 im talking everything mf, from rappers to singers to actors they all have come forward in interviews and said Eminem is their biggest influence and said :
(Rappers) : Kdot, Jcole, Tyler, Earl, Cordae, Juice, Sean and many more
(Singers) : Ed shearen, Swift, Lana del rey, Dua lipa, Usher, Frank Ocean, Charlie puth and many more have cited Eminem as a main influence, like wtff yall mf talking, EMINEM is miles clear and better then Jay on everything influence, importance, impact whatever you want mf
@mandi letoni k dot said basically said he mimicked jay z for a while even tried not writing,
j cole was signed by Jay Z. He said Nas was his biggest influence.
Tyler takes influence from just about every body. He might say Em is his biggest influence but his style is far from Eminems.
Sean and the rest say it but I see more of a Fabolous in big Sean.
The pop stars you cited had nothing to do with hip hop.
What did Eminem influence? People says em influenced them but they sound nothing like him.
@@styleformen7535 every new school rapper is influenced by EM, Kendrick was called a clone Em before he blew up tf you talking about jay cornball, and the question you asked who has more, AGAIN Kendrick is more influenced by Em then Jay, J cole is influenced more by EM then Jay, Tyler and whoever is more influenced by Em then Jay, go do your research mf stop talking made uo nonsensical shit, go read, go see their interviews were people were calling Kendrick a Eminem clone, go watch Charlamange call Kendrick a Em close on breakfast club, go watch J cole say he was baiting EM and even if you say Nas for Cole his second Influence was EM not Jay so again the shit we debating you lose again since Em has bigger influence above Cole then Jay, go watch Tyler interview were he talks about Relapse and MMLP, like it’s the same shit with y’all Jay fans only feelings never facts, again Kendrick Cole and manny more are influenced more from Em then Jay and that’s a fact soo I don’t get who you tryna convince yourself or others, and see what you did there you brought other people into the convo were the convo was between EM vs JAY and who has more influence and even if you bring other people in the shit remains the same since EM has more then JAY but then again how did we get here the first question was about IMPACT mf, how did you manage to switch the convo from impact to influence and lose then when i came with the facts you switched again bringing other people into the convo and lose again 🤣🤣🤣 mf again whatever you wanna pick influence or impact EM superior to Jay in any regard, but i see im dealing with a Jay meat-rider who talks feelings over facts and arguments, do yourself a favor and go search and study and see who has more influence above the WORLD 🌎 and learn to keep yo mouth shut when you don’t have facts or arguments in you side, okay little buddy, all the best to you im gone 👋
@@mandiletoni4963 so you honestly think Jay Cole raps like Eminem? I dont know what to say
Shout out Kev. Gonna miss the brother, hope he's still able to come guest on Anime episodes of FPS
Kev brought the most fun to the odd fridays. All the best for your journey!
do the eminem report card aswell
I hate it when Rod gets stubborn like this. Like, you can see it in his face and tone of his voice that hes just in denial about Em´s impact. You can also see he knows is true but its having a hard time finding decent arguments to say Eminem isnt as big and impactful as Hov. Cmon man, let your superfan rest a little bit
Rod might be the worst with defending a standpoint. He was wrong but he could of made waay better points
Eminem is still so influential he created whole new subgenre: Dad Rap
I agree with Myke completely. I live in Lebanon, almost no one knows who Jay is here. On the other hand there’s no one here that doesnt know who Em is, even the woman listen to Em which is rare for other male artists(specially rappers) other than The weeknd.
Jay z revived Rap tours. Before the Hard Knock tour rap tours were on Life Support.
