Eminem hit peak rhyming on that song where at least the last three syllables of every line in the song rhymed. Also he told a great story and the hook matched well.
holy shit, just stumbled upon this. This is perhaps the best music review i've ever seen on youtube. Such balanced fair opinions, and not being vague and defensive. Just honesty and great discussion, with so many different viewpoints too. props!
The thing about Eminem is he is the only artist where every single song he makes, there is a giant group of people who think that is the best song ever. Apparently a lot of people don't like Legacy but a big percentage of people think its the best song on the album.
Jerry Island they're morons, it had flow , beats and lyrics all were great these dumbasses calling it trash because they're unoriginal cunts who jump on the bandwagon
Lama "Lyrics feel a bit dated" Are you that fucking stupid. MMLP1=2000 MMLP2=2013 Did you see that?? Hes revisiting his old album so of course the lyrics are gonna sound old.
U guys actually gave a good ass review because u backed up your opinions. As an Eminem fan, I agreed in a lot of aspects, his hooks are shit now, but he's still dope
Relapse: I'm off drugs and I'm still crazy Recovery: I'm off drugs and I'm strong MMLP2: I'm off drugs and I just wanna rap Revival: I'm off drugs and I don't know what I'm doing with my life
i honestly think he should go back on drugs lmao I swear to god just about EVERY SINGLE TIME a musician or artist gets sober all sudden their music becomes tame as fuck. Its like this in every genre of music
I had the same feeling about it when I first heard it but upon re-listens it grows on you fairly quick.. The Chorus kind of caught me off guard at first but it actually ended up one of my favorite hooks on the album, The Rapid fire, insane rhyme patterns and lyrical complexity he brings fourth in the song is stellar..
Love Eminem, didnt like MMLP2 at first but after sitting in my car and listening to the album 3 times thru it started to grow on me and I found a new love for the new sound.
I've noticed that most people bashing Em's album only SKIMMED through it-i.e. listened to the beats, forwarded to the hooks, and quickly dismissed it as “POP TRASH.” Truthfully, I did the same at first, but after giving the album several listens (bonus tracks included), I've gotta say this is Em's BEST album since The Eminem Show. Lyrically, he's never been better and the storytelling got MUCH better once I recognized its connection to the original MM LP.
Agree. I also kinda wanted them to review the deluxe CD. "Baby" and "Groundhog Day" are fucking amazing. And "Beautiful Pain" should've replaced "The Monster"
Relapse is underrated af. Although it's super 1 dimensional and it gets annoying, its probably his most creative and oddly lyrical album. It lacks everywhere else, but I think it's his best album since the Eminem Show
Survival was a commercial deal for Call Of Duty yo! So U got to take it at face value...Headlights is TOO real! Hard to swallow this album! You get it after about the 3rd or 4th listen! Spit the truth.
I thought Legacy's hook was too long, but it felt haunting. Em's verses were absolute fire. He used the same rhyme scheme throughout the entire song and managed to document his entire childhood and development from an awkward and shy kid into a confident and angry rapper.
Eminem does not need to prove anything to anyone, he already has proven that he is one of the greatest. He now only makes music because he loves it not because he needs to prove himself.
"Maybe I'm bananas because I appeal to all walks of life". Puns about bananas and the word "peel" are so common I'm surprised Feefo actually thought it was dope. I love Em but that line was corny and that wordplay is just way overused.
I was kinda disappointed that their bar for dope lines was so low that they thought the Banana peel line was dope. That shit was cornier than when Cole uses his name as a pun. #COLEWORLDNOSNUGGIE
I'm glad Mike said that shit at the end. People need to understand that Eminem is 41, not 28 anymore. Take him as he is, or just stop listening to him then. Let the man mature.
Trent Mathews I like them, and they fit the theme of the album which is essentially Em telling us where his life is at right now which is basically what MMLP was
The only song I still to this day I have trouble with is Stronger Then I Was. I dig this whole album otherwise lyrically and musically, and I dig the rap/rock styles too, diversity is good and executed good. The bonus tracks are 🔥 too. Groundhog Day, Wicked Ways and i also think Beautiful Pain is one of his best songs and the message from it. This album will always be in my top 3 Em albums.
Divyesh Harit If he would have taken off Legacy, So Far.., Stronger Than I was, Headlights and then added Don't Front, Groundhog Day, Beautiful Pain, and Baby instead the album would have been significantly better. stronger than I was and headlights are probably Eminem's worst songs of all time to me.
This album caught me off the break, the 1st track is all it took to draw you into it. Bad Guy, Rhyme or Reason, Survival, Legacy, Asshole, Berzerk, Rap God, Brainless, Evil Twin all were dope ass songs. All of the bonus tracks murdered Groundhog Day and Wicked Ways are sick.
Exactly. People acting like the album sucked...really? You got exactly what you wanted from Eminem in this album. He was an asshole, and he went crazy with his rhyme patterns and punchlines like he always does. Especially in the songs you listed. #Unrivaled #StillKing
I really enjoyed this review I respect what you guys did with this. I'm a big MMLP2 fan and enjoyed the objectivity put forth here. You all brought good opinions to the table you gained a new fan for sure.
Ya'll are funny as fuck tho I agree with a lot of what you're saying. It's cool to have a group of you guys reviewing so it gives different opinions and sides to the conversation. Dope review.
People say this albums garbage. But lyrically??It beats EVERYTHING out right now. His wordplay is INSAIN.His flow is INSAIN.This shows why hes one of the greatest if not the greatest.
Rhyme of reason, love game, brainless, headlights, evil twin, so much better, berzerk, rap god, survival, don’t front, beautiful pain, so far, bad guy, baby, Groundhog Day,
"Yo dudes the album is called "The Marshall Mathers LP" Legacy is a track using the "Marshall Mathers persona" The track is brilliant because it is looking onto Marshall's childhood in a serious way for once. We've had glimpses with tracks such as Brain damage and a few others but this actually dwells in and shows us how Marshall's response to this as a 41 year old man. So tbh I think Legacy is a brilliant song, for me just So Far and Stronger than I was were the let downs of this album
The story of the songs are good but the structure is not. The most important thing is the song structure and Em has lost the ability to craft a decent song
BLVCK LORD BEATS I see your view point tbh. My main criticism with MMLP2 is that he dyed his hair blonde, claimed he was being nostalgic by naming it the MMLP2.... But the only nostalgic-ish tracks I get from this album are "So Much Better" and "Bad guy". Like one of the dudes said in this video, he said he wanted him to be more controversial on this album and I agree. Songs like "Survival", "So Far" and "Bezerk" shouldn't have been on here. Survival is a good song but doesn't fit the theme of the album, whilst I understand with Bezerk he tried making a classic slim shady song but still I feel it was just a plain wack song. I understand he's 42 years old and grown now but still, I wanted to see his opinion on current boy bands, or even pop culture figures such as the kardashians... hopefully on the next album he brings his slim shady side fully out
I could not believe Myke was making fun of the hook from Legacy, that is easily my favorite track from the entire project, I love the concept of the song, the structure, the introspective critique of life experiences and how it tied into his lyricism, the beat (which is similar 2 Like Toy Soldiers in instrumentation), the steady rise of intensity through the duration of the song, the wordplay, energy, and determination of the track (more personal but still similar to Survival)... IMO, this song easily gets 4/5 stars 4 me, a perfect critique of his own artistry n focus on lyricism
Funny how they bash Legacy for the hook, which has nothin' to do with the rap aspect of the album, and then he said "Cause the verses weren't anyhin' special." He uses a bar for all 3 verses, the first one, and then he rhymes throughout the entire verses, the song is written so well, it's insane, this dude doesn't know anything.
Who cares that everything rhymes if the song is still shit? People like praising Em for his rhyme schemes and technical abilities, but of what use is all that if he's incapable of making music that actually SOUNDS good? He's like one of those guitarists on youtube who can play really fast and it's all very impressive while you watch it, but the music itself is unmemorable. Em's a technical wonder, but nothing more than a mediocre artist. Technical aptitude can only account for so much. Personally, I'd rather listen to a mediocre rapper with a good ear for music than Em's manifactured pop music (funny how he's become the same inane pop idol he used to hate so vehemently, isn't it?).
Vibalist When has he ever said he hated every pop artist? And it's your opinion, I like his music, it's stupid of you sayin' that he can't make music that sounds good, when it simply applies to you and some others, a lot do like the sound.
@@WaspGenocide I would quote the worst part of this 10 year old UA-cam comment but why not the whole thing: "Who cares that everything rhymes if the song is still shit? People like praising Em for his rhyme schemes and technical abilities, but of what use is all that if he's incapable of making music that actually SOUNDS good? He's like one of those guitarists on youtube who can play really fast and it's all very impressive while you watch it, but the music itself is unmemorable. Em's a technical wonder, but nothing more than a mediocre artist. Technical aptitude can only account for so much. Personally, I'd rather listen to a mediocre rapper with a good ear for music than Em's manifactured pop music (funny how he's become the same inane pop idol he used to hate so vehemently, isn't it?)." Seriously, the entire point is dogshit. Eminem, at the time the comment was made, released 7 albums, 6 of which were good. Only two of the albums were particularly technical (Relapse and this album). 3 of the albums were classics, and two are two of the greatest of all-time. If you are more focusing on this album, and not his entire career, that still doesn't make sense. Stronger Than I Was is the only track that sounds awful. Some of the tracks are mid, but the other 15 aren't bad; most of them are good or great. Regarding "manufactured pop", the pop-rap tracks & pop hooks on this worked well. Bad Guy had an amazing hook. Survival was solid, as was Asshole. Rihanna killed it on Monster. Headlights had a beautiful hook. And he isn't a "pop idol" lol. It would make more sense if you claimed that he is working with pop artists despite dissing them back in the day, although that doesn't make sense either. It's not like he didn't feature them on the same albums he was dissing CERTIAN pop artists. Stan & Superman both have pop features. "Impressive while you watch it, but the music itself is unmemorable" which music? It obviously can't refer to his first 3 albums, or the best of Encore, or classics off of Relapse & Recovery like Beautiful, No Love, etc., or his classics features, IE. Renegade, Patiently Waiting, Forever, Dead Wrong, etc. And it also isn't applicable to tracks on this album like Rap God, Bad Guy, Evil Twin, etc. \Technical aptitude can only account for so much." Eminem wasn't very technical until this project, and its not like this album is nearly as technical as Kamikaze or MTBMB Side B. Its reactively technical, but not detrimental to the sound. "mediocre artist." I don't understand how you can respond to a comment about Legacy with this, given how incredible that piece of art was.
I really think a lot of the bars on this project went over people's heads. It'll be praised in the future and it should be because it harnesses the best lyricism Em has released to date.
Please read my whole comment before stanboy flaming me. I'm torn on this album, so yes, this is a HUUUGE rant: U know what I hate about this album? Songs like So Much Better, Evil Twin, and Rhyme Or Reason prove he STILL has it! The beats, hooks, and his flows were fine on those songs, so why the FUCK does he make songs like Berzerk, STIW, Survival, etc? Those songs aren't even lyrically special to justify such embarrassment. 60% of this album is a CARBON COPY of Welcome To: Our House and Radioactive. Why did y'all bash Yelawolf/SH, who are NEW artists who need radio play, but give Em a pass?! In this day n age when we have rappers like Kendrick, El-P, Action Bronson, Pusha T, TDE, Kanye (like Yeezus or not, MBDTF is a masterpiece and better then anything Em has done since TES), Earl Sweatshirt, shit, even Nas, who give the FULL PACKAGE, with lush production, dope hooks, dope lyrics with WAY more interesting subject matter, this shit Em is doing is just boring. Bland beats that sound like a BoB album, and hooks that belong on a fucking Avril Levigne album. Some of his best work since TES is on here, but theres ALOT of low points on this album. DOES NOT deserve the name MMLP2. JDGAF, I'm Shady, Rock Bottom, The Way I Am, Stan, Soldier, 3 AM, Deja Vu, those songs are INCREDIBLE top to bottom, because of the lyrics, and beats and CLASSIC choruses, so don't give me that "hooks/beats don't matter" BS, this is MUSIC, if all I wanted was raps, I could youtube Rap Battles of rappers that rap BETTER then Em can in 2013, without the cringe worthy hooks and beats. Relapse, his most ANTI-mainstream album, sold 650k first week and went platinum!!! So don't bring up that "it's the label" bullshit, Em is in the same position as Jay and Kanye, he can fart on a beat and it'll go platinum, he can do WHATEVER he wants on an album. I understand songs like The Monster, 2 or 3 bubble gum fluffy tracks, but the instrumentals and hooks are garbage. For the record, I think this album is a solid 6/10, and better then Recovery. BUT, it could've EASILY been an 8.5/10 if Em hadn't been LAZY with these pre-packaged cookie cutter hooks, mediocre instrumentals and punchlines.
I stopped reading your comment after you said akanye album is better then anything eminem released since the eminem show.Haha thats funny because kanye isnt even a good rapper.By the way you call eminem lazy??Did you not hear the variety and insane wordplay and lyrics??What jay z did is LAZY.And kamye isnt even in the converstation because he can barely rap.And i know your a dumbass when you bash hooks and beats on a rap album because your taking alot away from most of the album based on beats. This album is easily 8.0.And i really dont give one shit about hooks at all.Go to the needledrop review of MMLP2.And by the way like they said in THIS REVIEW OF MMLP2.No one can rhyme like eminem. And no one can twist up words like eminem. And eminems flow on here is incredible. If you really really care about hooks and beats that bad then go listen to something else dumbass.
the entire song Legacy, all three verses, used the exact same two-rhyme scheme. show me any other rapper EVER who has done that. nobody in the game can pull that off besides eminem, and theres very few rappers in history who have the rhyming skills to do that.
S Brooks that song was one of the best displays of technical skill i have ever heard. and actually technical skill as well as meaningful lyrics are two very big parts of what make a song good
I loved that song the scheme of the song was so dope you can even hear that every verse had different voice its related to the text which is about finding himself and his career in rap game hwo can they say this was so horrible ? I can only ignore that because you loved everything on to pimp a butterfly
+thereaISIimShady But just because a rapper has technical skill doesn't mean that they are necessarily a good songwriter. Sure, he had some good rhymes on Legacy, but what he was actually saying was corny as fuck.
Ok I'm only gonna say that "Survival" was made for promotion of Call Of Duty: Ghosts so it really seems to appeal to COD fans. His lines seem pretty good FOR A 40 year old rapper he's not going to make the same music as he did back in 1999.
btw completely agree with your review. I think, kinda like you guys said, Em was somewhat pandering to his recovery fanbase. He has pretty much 2 groups of fans. He has the fanbase that he built from being that phenom in the 90s and early 2000s and then he kinda disappeared and overdosed. He came back and all these younger kids and people who probably weren't allowed to listen to him growing up heard his newer stuff, especially recovery. He kinda tried creating a balance between the two.
Definitely feel Myke tho around 11:00. Em definitely would have set a better tone to the album if he didn't get a bunch of chicks not named Skylar Grey to sprinkle sugar on his tracks.
LieNTruth i know that, but i´m still pissed though. since it´s the sequel to stan, and if dido is not featured, that means that anyone could be featured on bad guy. i personally am not fond of the singing of that singer on bad guy. i think if was kinda selfish, that since he wanted it to be a surprise, he robbed fans (or at least, dido fans) of dido´s contribution. people could also assume that "the monster" is gonna be a prequel or in any way connected to "love the way you lie", since rihanna is featured. just because you have featured the same singer, does not automatically mean it´s gonna be connected to the previous song.
I'm glad Eminem is actually taking risks. It shows how much he is trying to evolve and still wants to make music. The man is in his forties and still going at it. it's great because whether you like it or hate it you can't say Eminem is a shitty rapper.
They didn't talk about the last 5 songs. Baby, Desperation, Groundhog Day (One of my favorites), Beautiful Pain and Wicked Ways. This album is pure genius!
I’m glad this album is getting more acclaim years after it dropped. I see this album consistently in the top 3 or top 4 of Eminem albums and it deserves that high spot
Legacy is one of the best tracks on the album. Lyrically he's bouncing the entire song with one syllable : "Ah". He does this with the internal and ending words in each verse. For all three verses. Few, if any rappers, lyricists and emcees nowadays, do that and that's an important skill to acquire as a well rounded artist... Basically The flow is sick. It's true hip hop when you really break it down.
"Bad Guy" His rhymes in the beginning were bad on purpose, it was Stan's brother rapping, not Eminem. When they crash Eminem's conscious comes in, and then finally him.
You guys do know that Stronger Than I Was was a softer play on Kim... right? It's supposed to be in Kim's perspective, unlike how Em perceived it on MMLP1... how it was violent and deadly, this is more slower and lovey-dovey showing her side to their relationship and the situation... plus the whole November/May reference is a reference to LTWYL from Recovery "after a year and 6 months".... surprised you guys didn't catch that. Overall, I LOVED your review, spot on.
johnedwarddowney I'm not saying it improved the song lol, but it was done like that on purpose. Em wanted to go back to an over-arching theme on MMLP1 regarding Kim, by flipping it backwards to what her POV would have been/was. (violent to passive) The song... though he tried, wasn't all that great, the singing was a bit weird, but the whole song's concept in general was a cool idea, regardless of it's quality.
If you're into the technical shit his best albums are Relapse and MMLP2. If you like intricate stories blended with amazing lyrics MMLP and The Eminem Show are his best. The Slim Shady LP is another album that blends great story telling with amazing lyrics but it's wayyy more humorous. Encore kinda sucks in comparison to his other albums. I mean for rap in general it's great but by Eminem's standards it's kinda wack. Ass Like That is almost unlistenable. Recovery is actually pretty raw. Just like any Eminem album you've still got the multis but Recovery isn't as technically savy with the exception of Encore. When he came back with Recovery you could tell he was hungry. And in a lot of ways Recovery reminds me of The Eminem Show. Overall I'd consider Em the Goat, his new song "Phenomenal" sounds ill too
+il100374 NO he is NOT the goat lol FAR from it and i MEAN FAR from it lol he can NEVER be the GOAT EVER and he has NEVER been the BEST ALIVE just most popular (he's white, 70% population of the US are white, no need for math) he told you himself on white america. There is NOTHING lyrical about dude, he has ABC rhymes (dude hasn't even mastered the double entendre) and 95% of his songs conceptually are a A HOT MESS (hardly relatable) . He can make a GREAT song here and there (lose yourself, til i collapse, soldier, stan and a couple more) BUT most if not all his albums are 100% PURE GARBAGE ESPECIALLY ENCORE AND RELAPSE and his music is not at all worthy of reply YES NO REPLY VALUE meaning he has NO classics ala reasonable doubt, illmatic, his music is EASY to grow out of (YES again his career is a GIMMICK) he might as well make a WHOLE ALBUM full of SKITS because that is ALMOST ALL his music is a fucking SKIT i will give him PROPS for creating STAN though which EXPLAINS most if not ALL his "fans".
entire album straight fire. eminem has gotten better through every album. recovery and MMLP 2 best albums yet. most lyrically gifted rapper of all time
His best album will always be his best album, and d12 devils night was the 2 best album he was featured on on everything else was wired Al yankovic from the hood shit
Loved when Kinge talked about how the album is a meshing of all of Em's past albums, from that standpoint I can definitely respect this album, while also realizing Eminem is at a place in his life where he's outgrown the addictions and overcame his demons.
i must say, i first heard this album and only like a few songs.but i went and listened to it again and started to understand it. by the third time i had heard it, i loved it and it became my fav album. Just listen to it a few times and you'll understand and like it for what it is.
Eminem Dissed ICP, Asher Roth, Future, Justin Bieber, Lady Gaga, Jessica Alba, Jessica Simpson, Tori Spelling, Lamar Odom, LMFAO, Britney Spears, Wacka Flocka, Ray J, Fabolous, Chief Keef, Gwen Stefani, Moby on the album not just Khloe Kardashian.. And "Stronger Than I Was" is a song from Kim's perspective of the songs "97' Bonnie & Clyde" "Puke" and "Kim" until the bridge.. And Legacy was set up like this: 1st Verse: Marshall Mathers / Childhood 2nd Verse: Eminem / Teenage Years 3rd Verse: Slim Shady / Present Day And Woman was on the hook signifying Hip - Hop, as the rap game is often referred to as a female.. Also Em has always had corny lines but for the record the ones on MMLP2 were very clever.. like "I can't even find the page I was writing this rhyme on, oh it's on the rampage (haha) couldn't see what I wrote"
Eminem is at his best and most interesting when he's pissed, Em is a happy man right now.. so the album is not so hard hitting emotionally, but skill wise both in lyrics, wordplay and rapping, Em is untouchable. Good to see him still put out music.. I felt Bad Guy was the best song on the album.
The last guy was absolutely right, ppl will ride it soo hard in soon time just watch..its eminem he has hugeeee fan base, so ppl gon be stubborn but they gonna appreciate it, they expected too much so they gonna instantly hate it but they will love it soon
I like the review, and I didn't actually watch it all, but about the song Stronger Than I Was. I didn't like it at first because I thought it was kind of just a generic thing, but I hear that it's from Kim's point of view and that gave it a lot more meaning to me.
I think if Eminem also took those bonus tracks & put them on the album & took Bezerk, Monster, So Far, Stronger Than I was, & Survival off it would have been phenomenal, cause let's be real. he killed those bonus tracks
Johnny English nah man, stronger than i was is wack. that singing does not work here, unlike on hailie´s song. and those first 2 verses are bad. the third one is decent.
The fact that you guys don't give a shit about what other people say.. and you review this without being bias because it's eminem.. I respect that.. Good video..
Legacy is one of the best tracks on the album, I know you all find the chorus hilarious, but did you even listen to Eminem? His lyrics are great on this song, and it's very impressive how he keeps the same rhyming scheme going for three verses, survival did suck though. 'Stronger Than I Was" was a song written from Kim's perspective, almost a sequel to 'Kim'. I couldn't believe it when Myke said he liked Skyler Grey's hook, it was terrible. My opinion - Best tracks are: Bad Guy, Legacy, Evil Twin, Brainless. (and the bonus tracks) Worst tracks: The Monster, Survival, Asshole, Stronger Than I Was. Overall: 6.5/10 maybe 7/10.
Can someone please explain all the hatred for eminem. Holy shit, if you dont like it, that doesnt mean you have to bash the hell out him and the people that enjoyed his album.
BigPimpin321100 Some older fans feel like he's gone pop, like they also discuss in this video. It's not necessarily in order to be cool that we dislike his new stuff.
I Really liked this review, mostly reflected my thoughts too, also saw things from a new prospective, glad I stumbled across you guys from Bug sean HOF review, subbed
This album is amazing, far better than what i was expecting. Stonger than i was is my fav joint off this record. and only songs that i would say were OK was berzerk, survival and so far.. everything else was great-amazing
I actually liked the album with the exception of like 3 songs. That being berzerk, stronger than i was and the monster. I would put it as Eminem's 4th greatest album, IMO
I almost didn't even give this album a second look... I was wrong... I agree that some of the hooks are garbage, but Em was dropping bars on this project! This was one that had to grow on me, but anyone who's into multis, internals, mets, wordplay etc. Will have a lot to keep them occupied.
I feel The Marshall Mathers LP is it’s own album. He should not have called this The Marshall Mathers LP 2 as there are not Dr Dre beats, only one skit and a few pop collaborations. It was a decent album but I if it had Dr Dre beats and more skits, it would have been a better album. It would have been equivalent to the first Marshall Mathers LP
I actually really like legacy I don't really care for the hook but I could relate to it and my favourite Eminem's songs are the ones I could relate with
but....but i like legacy............
It's ok...
BuschWhacker Reviews Me too
Legacy was dope ..
Eminem hit peak rhyming on that song where at least the last three syllables of every line in the song rhymed. Also he told a great story and the hook matched well.
Just Bekuz And the last verse with all the Sports metaphors god damn
holy shit, just stumbled upon this. This is perhaps the best music review i've ever seen on youtube. Such balanced fair opinions, and not being vague and defensive. Just honesty and great discussion, with so many different viewpoints too. props!
[Ids5621-Retro] My favourite on UA-cam ! Welcome.
10 years later, how do you feel about them now?
The thing about Eminem is he is the only artist where every single song he makes, there is a giant group of people who think that is the best song ever. Apparently a lot of people don't like Legacy but a big percentage of people think its the best song on the album.
That's actually really true
Eminem fans are worse than Death Grips fans, and Death Grips fans are the FUCKING WORST.
+Jake Peterson Drake's are up there
+Jake Peterson kanye west fans as well
ChaseKayzer that applies to Kendrick and I love me some Kendrick
this was a really good review
+Yung Lord I agree
I know that's not no Mick Jenkins my nigga! :D
Yung Lord Best in the game.
relapse was a real good album, I don't understand why people hate it
Jerry Island that shit is super corny
Jerry Island
Relapse was 🚮🚮🚮
Erotic-CupcaKez 69 corny?
It was meant to be how it turned out
Jerry Island they're morons, it had flow , beats and lyrics all were great these dumbasses calling it trash because they're unoriginal cunts who jump on the bandwagon
Relapse would have been great without the accents
musically it doesnt sound the best, but lyrically and artistically its soooo good
Lyrics feel a bit dated.
Lama Listen to "Baby" and "Groundhog Day" and look up their lyrics. Then try to type that comment again.
Lama "Lyrics feel a bit dated"
Are you that fucking stupid.
MMLP1=2000
MMLP2=2013
Did you see that??
Hes revisiting his old album so of course the lyrics are gonna sound old.
Lmao. It’s music that doesn’t sound good. Aka it’s garbage
You should of included the deluxe version with the extra 5 songs because i feel that those songs are some of the best on the whole album
Facts
U guys actually gave a good ass review because u backed up your opinions. As an Eminem fan, I agreed in a lot of aspects, his hooks are shit now, but he's still dope
Well we don't wanna say all his hooks are shit now but some of them are really dope
All rappers should do their own hooks.
Come defend revival boy
Yes
at 12:50 Myke about to start sprinting when he heard the sirens lol
lmfaoooo
Relapse: I'm off drugs and I'm still crazy
Recovery: I'm off drugs and I'm strong
MMLP2: I'm off drugs and I just wanna rap
Revival: I'm off drugs and I don't know what I'm doing with my life
Kamikaze : I'm off drugs and I'm mad
Music to Be Murdered By: I'm off drugs and I still got it
Kamekaze: Im off drugs and I'm pissed off
Music to be murdered by: Im off drugs and im still that good
i honestly think he should go back on drugs lmao I swear to god just about EVERY SINGLE TIME a musician or artist gets sober all sudden their music becomes tame as fuck. Its like this in every genre of music
@@0oidiedinatimemachineo024 I'm not too knowledgeable on music but who else is like this?
Survival needed a "Till I Collapse" type of best it would of been one of the best song in the album
I had the same feeling about it when I first heard it but upon re-listens it grows on you fairly quick.. The Chorus kind of caught me off guard at first but it actually ended up one of my favorite hooks on the album, The Rapid fire, insane rhyme patterns and lyrical complexity he brings fourth in the song is stellar..
xxTaZxxu456 It was a TILL I COLLAPSE beat
xxTaZxxu456 smh do y'all even analyze the lyrics? That song has some great bars.
Well em killed everthing in 2018 and he won???...
Love Eminem, didnt like MMLP2 at first but after sitting in my car and listening to the album 3 times thru it started to grow on me and I found a new love for the new sound.
its def one of those albums where it grows on you
Yep just like Redman albums, he had albums that grow on you! “Dare Iz a Darkside” grew on me immediately
Stronger than i was should have been a bonus track.
when did u see me the latest time? xD
um yes? i am not a racist, i'll stand up for any race.
and who are you to call me a nigga??? you're white!!!!!!!!
Stronger than I was shouldn't even have been on the album.
SpyrowTV Indeed, sir. Eminem cannot. Fucking. Sing. Dope as hell as a rapper though. Just, c'mon, it's Hip-Hop, not R&B.
This is the first dead end video i saw and how I got introduced to them. Nearly 10 years later and they’re still doing they thing.
Eminem is rich af and popular af. With that being said, I want an album like Inifinite.. That would make my life, ctfu.
You liked Bad Meets Evil, but hated this because of hooks? Even though BME had a stupid poppy hook on literally every song? & BRUNO MARS???
Idiot's
Lighters is probably the worst Eminem song ever made like jesus christ the lyrics are absolutely horrendous
@@gameflymc3374agreed
"And I'm nuts, then again who the fuck wants a plain Eminem." I nearly fell out of my chair when he said that!! Eminem is a RAP GOD!
me. a nigga loves plain M&M'S
😂😂 weak bar
Bruh
I've noticed that most people bashing Em's album only SKIMMED through it-i.e. listened to the beats, forwarded to the hooks, and quickly dismissed it as “POP TRASH.”
Truthfully, I did the same at first, but after giving the album several listens (bonus tracks included), I've gotta say this is Em's BEST album since The Eminem Show.
All the Re-albums suck compared to the rest of his albums imp
Relapse is underrated af. Although it's super 1 dimensional and it gets annoying, its probably his most creative and oddly lyrical album. It lacks everywhere else, but I think it's his best album since the Eminem Show
Survival was a commercial deal for Call Of Duty yo! So U got to take it at face value...Headlights is TOO real! Hard to swallow this album! You get it after about the 3rd or 4th listen! Spit the truth.
I thought Legacy's hook was too long, but it felt haunting. Em's verses were absolute fire. He used the same rhyme scheme throughout the entire song and managed to document his entire childhood and development from an awkward and shy kid into a confident and angry rapper.
i miss these outdoor DEHH episodes. bring em back!
Eminem does not need to prove anything to anyone, he already has proven that he is one of the greatest. He now only makes music because he loves it not because he needs to prove himself.
He's making crap songs because he knows his stans would buy them. Do you think he listened to this album and said "This is going to be my best work".
My fellow editor nigga lolololol LaughingMan17
:P
Show me 3 bananas and peel pun rap songs.
That was as corny as the " I peaked/peeked" line
I'm glad Mike said that shit at the end. People need to understand that Eminem is 41, not 28 anymore. Take him as he is, or just stop listening to him then. Let the man mature.
Replace The Monster, Stronger than I was and Survival with Groundhog Day, Don't front and Wicked Ways and the main album was nearly flawless
S JN Headlights and So Far have to go.
Trent Mathews I like them, and they fit the theme of the album which is essentially Em telling us where his life is at right now which is basically what MMLP was
So far was one of the best tracks on that album!
This album will always be in my top 3 Em albums.
ground hog day and wicked ways go hard
Yeah they probably didn't have the deluxe version yet
If only you reviewed the Deluxe Edition! Baby, Groundhog Day, Wicked Ways, Beautiful pain were FIRE
groundhog day
Divyesh Harit If he would have taken off Legacy, So Far.., Stronger Than I was, Headlights and then added Don't Front, Groundhog Day, Beautiful Pain, and Baby instead the album would have been significantly better.
stronger than I was and headlights are probably Eminem's worst songs of all time to me.
Trent Mathews Did you just say Headlights is one of his worst songs? God fucking damn man for real? Its one of the saddest songs
@@TrentMathewsTSM don't you fucking touch So Far and Headlights
Em seriously needs to drop the corny hooks. I still think he's great though, but since 2013 I think Kendrick is best in the game now
+Enzo Cittadino Kendrick possibly, eminem fucked himself
+Jeeezsus nuts nope he didn't
Jeeezsus nuts ayy first of all I ain't no fuckin stan Eminem will forever be better than Kendrick so stfu
Abdelrahman Roubi you definitely sound like a stan lmao
Enzo Cittadino look I ain't no stan but Kendrick isn't even top 20 come on now
This album caught me off the break, the 1st track is all it took to draw you into it.
INSAIN
INSAINITY
Rhyme of reason, love game, brainless, headlights, evil twin, so much better, berzerk, rap god, survival, don’t front, beautiful pain, so far, bad guy, baby, Groundhog Day,
Also I thought it was funny what Ken said around the 25 minute mark, HEADLIGHTS, SO FAR, and HEADLAMPS. Sign of Old Age. lol.
Hahahha!
This is a solid review, thank you!
Nicholas Joost Yeah.
The guy in the white shirt knows his shit
That's what I'm saying!
Vibalist has it dead on. right on the head.
@@WaspGenocide I would quote the worst part of this 10 year old UA-cam comment but why not the whole thing:
"Who cares that everything rhymes if the song is still shit? People like praising Em for his rhyme schemes and technical abilities, but of what use is all that if he's incapable of making music that actually SOUNDS good? He's like one of those guitarists on youtube who can play really fast and it's all very impressive while you watch it, but the music itself is unmemorable. Em's a technical wonder, but nothing more than a mediocre artist. Technical aptitude can only account for so much. Personally, I'd rather listen to a mediocre rapper with a good ear for music than Em's manifactured pop music (funny how he's become the same inane pop idol he used to hate so vehemently, isn't it?)."
Seriously, the entire point is dogshit.
Legacy is no where sounding like a recovery album
stronger than I was is from Kim's perspective most likely a reply to the song Kim on the first MMLP
I wouldn't mind another DEHH review outside at some point. Background noise is a little distracting but the vibe is there.
I love MMLP2, but Em's best album in my opinion is The Eminem Show :)))
yeah na... mmlp was the best.. em show second
Ems best is recovery
The eminem show was the peak
They been doing this a WHILE
I really think a lot of the bars on this project went over people's heads. It'll be praised in the future and it should be because it harnesses the best lyricism Em has released to date.
guess who was right
Please read my whole comment before stanboy flaming me.
I'm surprised no one mentioned the last two minutes of Bad Guy. He destroyed that beat. By far my favorite moment on this record
I'm also really glad I found some intelligent and knowledgeable people to review the album. You should do the bonus tracks as well.
the entire song Legacy, all three verses, used the exact same two-rhyme scheme. show me any other rapper EVER who has done that. nobody in the game can pull that off besides eminem, and theres very few rappers in history who have the rhyming skills to do that.
SO WHAT. Just because he has TECHNICAL skill doesn't mean the song is actually GOOD
S Brooks that song was one of the best displays of technical skill i have ever heard. and actually technical skill as well as meaningful lyrics are two very big parts of what make a song good
I loved that song the scheme of the song was so dope you can even hear that every verse had different voice its related to the text which is about finding himself and his career in rap game hwo can they say this was so horrible ? I can only ignore that because you loved everything on to pimp a butterfly
+S Brooks but was awesome for me
+thereaISIimShady But just because a rapper has technical skill doesn't mean that they are necessarily a good songwriter.
At this moment the channel had the same number of subscribers as the number of views of this vid
btw completely agree with your review. He kinda tried creating a balance between the two.
the word play on this album was on another level I don't give a fuck what anybody says
Eminem sets the bar for real spitters
LOL
Facts
True but musically it wasn't as good as his older projects. Better than recovery but still meh 5/10
Exactly like the guy said he's matured since he aged, people don't want to grow up and enjoy being immatured
tj duval Fuck boy
Legacy has some of the BEST verses on the album listen to the verses they were heart felt as fuck.
Yeah
Definitely feel Myke tho around 11:00. Em definitely would have set a better tone to the album if he didn't get a bunch of chicks not named Skylar Grey to sprinkle sugar on his tracks.
*****
i agree, i´m skylar grey fan but i don´t like her on asshole.
i think that dido should definitely had been featured on bad guy.
***** Dido was originally asked to sing the hook for "Bad Guy" but was changed because Eminem said that it would ruin the surprise.
LieNTruth
i know that, but i´m still pissed though.
since it´s the sequel to stan, and if dido is not featured, that means that anyone could be featured on bad guy. i personally am not fond of the singing of that singer on bad guy.
i think if was kinda selfish, that since he wanted it to be a surprise, he robbed fans (or at least, dido fans) of dido´s contribution.
people could also assume that "the monster" is gonna be a prequel or in any way connected to "love the way you lie", since rihanna is featured.
just because you have featured the same singer, does not automatically mean it´s gonna be connected to the previous song.
***** the video of monster was awesome, but i hate rihanna and if the beats were less poppy, it would have been better
FINALLY SOME NEW DEHH REVIEWS
So happy Mike like relapse because it's slept on for sure. I want him to review it.
I’m glad this album is getting more acclaim years after it dropped. I see this album consistently in the top 3 or top 4 of Eminem albums and it deserves that high spot
😵💫😵💫😂😂😂😂😂😭😭😭😭😭💀💀
It's overated em should've stopped making albums after Recovery..would've been a nice ending to his career
You described in a terrible and clumsy way what Eminem did with that song. You don't get what he did from a rhyme point of view.
Okay, I'll play. How does that improve the song at all?
johnedwarddowney I'm not saying it improved the song lol, but it was done like that on purpose.
Overall I'd consider Em the Goat, his new song "Phenomenal" sounds ill too
I love relapse, classic for me
yea Relapse was super hard...the accents were played out, but when it comes to rhyme patterns, subliminal messages, and creativity...it was dope
Amazing review, I agree 100%
+SCBWrestling relapse = HOT GARBAGE lol how the FUCK he win a grammy for that? oh yh he's WHITE we know
entire album straight fire. eminem has gotten better through every album. recovery and MMLP 2 best albums yet. most lyrically gifted rapper of all time
His best album will always be his best album, and d12 devils night was the 2 best album he was featured on on everything else was wired Al yankovic from the hood shit
Loved when Kinge talked about how the album is a meshing of all of Em's past albums, from that standpoint I can definitely respect this album, while also realizing Eminem is at a place in his life where he's outgrown the addictions and overcame his demons.
the beat on groundhog day was the best
i must say, i first heard this album and only like a few songs.but i went and listened to it again and started to understand it. by the third time i had heard it, i loved it and it became my fav album. Just listen to it a few times and you'll understand and like it for what it is.
I literally jumped out my seat when I saw this in my subscription box
Awesome awesome review guys! Glad you let the album set it and reviewed it the way ya did... I really liked the the album
And Legacy was set up like this:
1st Verse: Marshall Mathers / Childhood
2nd Verse: Eminem / Teenage Years
3rd Verse: Slim Shady / Present Day
And Woman was on the hook signifying Hip - Hop, as the rap game is often referred to as a female..
Also Em has always had corny lines but for the record the ones on MMLP2 were very clever.. like "I can't even find the page I was writing this rhyme on, oh it's on the rampage (haha) couldn't see what I wrote"
Nice review guys, y'all spoke yr mind, personally, I think eminem was on point lyrically, word play and in his delivery
No idea why I found this just now but, shit, this is an amazing review.
So Far is dope. Other than that, the other tracks coulda gone in the trash.
He did kill those bonus tracks...but So Far is kinda vintage S.S and Stronger Than I was is pretty dope if you listen to it again and again
Johnny English
nah man, stronger than i was is wack. that singing does not work here, unlike on hailie´s song. and those first 2 verses are bad. the third one is decent.
ya...i guess it does not actually blend in with the others....but what about those bonus tracks AWESOME
(and the bonus tracks)
Worst tracks: The Monster, Survival, Asshole, Stronger Than I Was.
Overall: 6.5/10 maybe 7/10.
amazing review you guys are some of the only people smart enough to truly understand what he was trying to do.
Can someone please explain all the hatred for eminem. Holy shit, if you dont like it, that doesnt mean you have to bash the hell out him and the people that enjoyed his album.
It's the cool thing to say "fuck eminem" these days.
Kinda like with the kanye gay fish comments.
BigPimpin321100
Some older fans feel like he's gone pop, like they also discuss in this video. It's not necessarily in order to be cool that we dislike his new stuff.
BigPimpin321100 i havent seen the gay fish comments alot idk what your talking about.
BigPimpin321100
gay fish is played out....people just call him an asshole
I didn't always dislike eminem. this is his best project.
relapse and recovery were mediocre at best.
Love these videos
u guys really need to see the deluxe songs, those were some of the best Em ive heard
There also is a hidden track called " don"t front " it's huge
brandon ayong that’s black moon shit
I Really liked this review, mostly reflected my thoughts too, also saw things from a new prospective, glad I stumbled across you guys from Bug sean HOF review, subbed
Myke was on point foreal.i couldn't express it better than him.
This album is amazing, far better than what i was expecting. Stonger than i was is my fav joint off this record. and only songs that i would say were OK was berzerk, survival and so far.. everything else was great-amazing
"Bumped my head and woke up in a world were rap sucks!" lol
I've only listened to this album once, so far, and I love it. I still need to get my copy.
I actually liked the album with the exception of like 3 songs. That being berzerk, stronger than i was and the monster. I would put it as Eminem's 4th greatest album, IMO
always love dead end hip hops reviews the best, goblin review first caught my attention with these guys, much respect for thiere opinions
I almost didn't even give this album a second look... I was wrong... I agree that some of the hooks are garbage, but Em was dropping bars on this project! This was one that had to grow on me, but anyone who's into multis, internals, mets, wordplay etc. Will have a lot to keep them occupied.
best review i watched for this album. props to you ;)
Rap God is a technical masterpiece, everyone has there opinion on his flow, so he gave us all flows on one track. Double timing was great.
first 6 mins i was wonderin if ken was even gonna make an appearance lol
You guys are totally right, he just wants to rap. As a fan, I'm happy that he's sober and having fun, the more fun he has the more music we get.
"Three years later they got back and re rate it"
I wish I had friends like you. Can't wait for the new album to drop and when it does please do a review of it.
Eminem's verses in Love Game were pretty good.
Bumping mmlp2 right now. Shitz on different level bruh 🤯
It would have been equivalent to the first Marshall Mathers LP
i cant wait to see mike talking about relapse on dehh classic reviews someday
I actually really like legacy I don't really care for the hook but I could relate to it and my favourite Eminem's songs are the ones I could relate with
