Nice grafts cool to see the seedlings growth speed up.
Thanks 👍
uncle C! you have got this on locks, sir! I just failed at my first graft,... I have had many successes and look forward to more! Great video, Man!
I want to make a much better video of this process but I need a better camera. My video editing skills need a ton of work as well. Im a landscaper/nurseryman so tech skills is not in my wheelhouse. Thank you for the kind words my Friend ❤️🌵
Just did ten grafts of seedlings yesterday, hope they took. Videos should be up soon. Creating a channel soon.
Remind me, I will Subscribe to your Channel 🌵❤️
Oh, great viden😁🙏🌵I leart a lot and actually this is exactly the grafting I need to do for my hybrids🙌
Nice work. Cacti are easy to care for but often lack beauty, so your grafting products are especially cool and unique.
Good
Thanks! 🌵
Thanks for this video. Trying to grow Sclerocactus but they are slow and fickle seedlings. If the seedlings grow tall and thin (that's just how Sclerocactus seedlings are often, not etiolation) how would you reccommend getting good adhesion to the rootstock without crushing them? Not sure if they would be able to withstand tape.
In my experience i would graft them BEFORE they get tall, so maybe at 2-4 weeks when they are short and stout. I know micrografting is difficult but once you get the hang of it i find it very easy. Use very young pereskiopsis cuttings OR young cereus seedlings as your graft stock. Old woody cactus wont accept a graft with a young seedling. Im always here for advice 🌵❤️ Good luck my Friend.
Is September ok for grafting?🙏It's still mid 80s and hot here. Fall starts November.
I live in Hot and Sunny Phoenix, AZ. So i graft nearly year around except december through feb
How much sun do you give them when freshly grafted? How long until you remove grafting tape?
Filtered light under shade netting, small grafts do not do well in Phoenix Full sun. The tape stays on for 5 days to a week but ive accidentally left it on longer than a couple weeks and it was ok. I pull it off when i see the scion plump up.
thank you! do you think i could just use cling wrap in lieu of tap and a baggie?@@CactusUncle
@@WillTee3 absolutely ive done it many times
How old were your seedlings when you grafted them and how young can you graft them? Thanks
The seedlings were about 6 weeks old, about 1/4 Inch tall. They can be grafted much earlier but I generally wait for them to have a few sets of spines. Happy Cactusing my friend.
@@CactusUncle Were they successful? I have usually waited until pups or seedling were bigger than that so it is easier to interesect the cambium layers for a higher success rate.
@@siulau7498 yes very successful. Im editing a video now of me doing a bunch of tiny astrophytum that all were successful.
I think you need to use more alcohol 😂
Thank you! 🤣
