how ironic is that the character that's suppose to be all about speed and being fast and being "the fastest living being" ends up making the slowest games
No really sonic in his own gamed is about memorizing the level design to run through the level in the most optimal way,similar to how sonic in smash takes his time to memorize your habits and punish you in the most efficient way.
Game play wise sonic is game accurate but it's contradicting to his personality which does suck.

I can really second this opinion. Sonic is like the new Bayonetta of Ultimate. Not in terms of how busted he is, but in terms of how lame he is. No one likes watching Sonic and no one likes the people that play Sonic.

@hypernovagamingstation Which is a shame because even on the Genesis, he had more than Spindash. I just wish he was balanced by giving him his Sonic 3 physics. She should be the 1 character with acceleration instead of instant top speed.

Wrath literally ran away the entire match and the best dedede in France couldn’t do anything. Inhale? Jump over and charge another. Gordo? Dodge it and charge spin dash. He’s the slowest character in the game, he couldn’t do anything at all. This is basically a 90-10 matchup.
Ok well DDD is definitely not the slowest in the game that’s literally ganon
90-10 feels like an over exaggeration but it is definitely bad. Dedede's mu spread is just bad across the board.

Actually it’s not. It’s a simple game and you can play with the character and quickly learn tips. It doesn’t take much skill like SF or Tekken.

That was the most dynamic ddd gameplay I've ever seen. Scend played really well and that is a hard matchup for ddd. If I wasnt watching a video with this title I would've thought there was no way Lioko wins that. The way he defended his recovery on ledge with gordos and inhale was clutch. I just learned today that you can stick gordos to ledge and you can inhale pk lightning

I thought it was common knowledge Dedede has the strongest F-Smash honestly. Anyway, I always say people sleep hard on Dedede.

In a matchup like this a ddd should be hopeless. He’s too slow to catch or avoid anything sonic does. To play this matchup is to smash your head against a brick wall. For most people their best option is not to continue, but ddd players have thick skulls. With enough time, and a thick enough skull, that wall will break.
I miss the old Dedede back air. Way cooler, way efficient.

@@christianrowell1081 are you 12? This game has multiple tier lists with a few consensuses, and almost all of them have ddd bottom 5. This game is much more balanced than other games but some characters are objectively weaker than others. look at DDD objectively and without lag he has bad airspeed, lackluster combos, exploiatable recovery, a punshiable projectile, is really easy to combo. and has mediocore frame data. If you think he is as nearly as consistent as a character like wolf then you are insan. Also, saying ""get gud bro" to a fact is a sign of a bad player shows poor understanding of the game.
Honestly i would have just cut the video before the sonic player got any screentime, really great run tho

Great decision making and patience by Lioko. Dedede is pretty horrible on paper and in practice, so you can only make him look this good with strong situational awareness and incredible knowledge of the character's limits. Unfortunately, that sort of intimacy with the character can only go so far. Most characters in the game have an easy and clear game plan to deal with him. Even characters just a tier above him can make him really struggle to find effective options. He really is the bottom of the barrel, which makes this run all the more impressive.
He does not look strong at all, neutral is absent and with an hard read you can get 15% with inhale (a move that has like 1 second of lag) or get 20% soft nair into something. This character doesnt play the game he cant even die since 170% and he even got shadownerfed when they decided that charged f-smash cant shieldbreak anymore
the best think about ddd is he may have a lot of start up but he has basically no endlag making him deceptively slippery

There is no definitive “bad characters” in smash ultimate, only bad players.
yeah but it's international wifi, europe to na, really not surprising that a top DDD [hard buffed by delay] beat a top ness [hard nerfed by delay]
Ness is fine in delay imo, but it’s true that DDD is helped by it
@@BurnsyRuns at mid-high levels, that's definitely true, but at top level [as far as I can tell as a mid-high level player and a big fan of watching top level ness] ness's neutral relies a lot more on dynamic tight execution and reaction whiff punishing [including punishing overcommittal movement]. what stood out to me most in scend's set here was how often he completely missed opportunities and openings I rarely see him drop even online, it didn't feel like conditioning was much of an option at all given that capitalising on it would necessarily mean committing to a hard read every time, and ness is simply too vulnerable in that situation if he can't react using movement and frame data that would otherwise make it a rather one-sided affair.

@@BurnsyRuns right yeah, so ness's movement and punish game has come a very long way in the past few years, and all his really important combo starters and conversions require fairly precise adjustments depending on what kind of opening you've found and how your opponent DIs. not to mention all his reversal conditions being super reaction-based and a neutral with a core focus on agility and evasive movement based mixups.
EU>NA lag is just too far outside the scope of reactable gameplay for ness to do much more than spam movement, coverage, and mixups just outside burst range [pretty far away when the delay is big] hoping to get enough chip damage for a lead that will force more commital approaches from the opponent.
