Yes, a dust collector will handle drywall dust much better than a shop vac, but you need to have a filter capable of catching that fine dust and holding it without clogging. The cyclone helps enormously with that. I have a small Oneida I use with my shop vac. When I use that with a drywall sander, much of the drywall dust winds up in the cyclone. But neither system will take hours and hrs of drywall dust without clogging. For airborne dust, I have another blower/filter unit I built that does a very good job of catching the airborne drywall dust. I'll try to post a video on that machine soon.
Thanks for posting this. I'm thinking of something similar. Extremely small shop. The stand looks easy and not expensive.
I like the collector setup you created. I've got a small shop that I need to create something similar
I want the nail gun
very nice setup, still got that palm nailer?
Nope, sorry. It went pretty quick. Thanks for watching!
Extremely stupid question. Will this pull dust from open air? I ask because of drywall dust. A box fan just doesn't cut it.

I will pay you a nominal fee if you still have the nailer
Sorry -- already at its new home, hopefully being used. Thanks for watching!
