For those wondering, we pulled this and edited it… we removed borderline betting decisions since they aren’t worth considering “errors” and removed a couple advanced deviations that aren’t in our main charts. Sorry for the confusion and we hope you enjoy!
In the original video, you talked about surrendering on a 14 vs 10, which isn't even on the S17 deviations chart on your training app. Where can I see the more advanced deviations?
In the original upload, you forgot to mention the 9v2 deviation, and the bj vs bj push being taken away, but hey 12/14 is a great job :D Being serious I absolutely love this type of content, I hope we will see similar stuff in the future❤♠
I caught 17. I guess the camera angle wasn’t the best- thought my man was consistently getting underpaid haha. Doubling 8 against 5 is a deviation tho- he was in the right true count for that, correct? Would love more of these videos
I got 12, missed the two over / under bets. Nailed the basic strategy, deviation and under pay errors! I’m pretty pleased with the results. It’s difficult to factor in a given bet spread within a 15 minute video all things considered. Bravo to anyone who caught all 14!
#3 payout error on DD was extremely hard to see from top down view of the chip stack. It had the right number if chip piles was all I could tell without a chip spread
I disagree that doubling 8 vs. 5 was wrong at that count. Also, when he doubled. he doubled for less on that hand(at least it appeared so). I couldn't tell if there was an underpayment on a player blackjack towards the end. ($800 instead of 900 on a $600 bet?)
I normally count Zen so this was a bit tricky and I also don't know if you typically round/truncate/floor your true counts. That being said, I put on my hi-lo brain for this video and did pretty well! I wasn't sure if the 8vs5 double was a mistake because I don't know what the index for that is in hi-lo. Other than that one I caught all of them!
Would've been nice to know the actual running/tc at the end of the video. but that's ok, i can just watch again. Thank you so much for the info you provide. these videos are so valuable! *** UPDATE *** Having been doing this for several months now, I can tell you, I had mud rubbed all over my face when I finally had my coach deal to me. Within only 2 shoes, I had made 5 counting errors, 2 betting errors, and 3-4 deck estimation errors. Needless to say this was quite humbling. But, it did make me focus more on practicing the count and the deck estimation. I think I have improved loads since then. We'll see next time he deals to me. What a wake up call, though. To be sure!
I managed to catch 12/14. I’ve been practicing at home and occasionally at my local casinos but I didn’t know I was doing as well as I am! I try not to count at my local casinos because I don’t want to ruin it, they’re all I’ve got😂That was fun😁
I didn't do so good, but I know I have a long way to go. Hopefully a membershio to BJA will help me along. I haven't used it yet to start my membership, but for Christmas my wife is paying for the first year. I'll be on there soon and ready to focus and turn myself into a lean, mean, card coutning machine.
Update: I've been in for about a month now and I'm using the test out in the training suite and am getting 96% consistently. I still have plenty to go. My trouble areas are deck estimation and I'm having trouble remembering deviations. But in this short month of being in, I've ramped up way faster than I thought I was going to.
2 months since last update. I've had four 100% (6 deck shoe) test outs in BJA at this point and I've stopped counting the 100% test outs in double deck. I caught 7 mistakes. I missed the dealer mistakes and some basic strategy, as I'm focusing too much on the count and other areas are suffering. I'd pay more attention to the basic strategy stuff more if it were me playing instead of watching someone else. I'm liking my progress. I'm getting there.
At 7:10 Am I wrong that they overpaid for insurance? Looks like they put out a whole bet vs half bet for insurance on 1 spot and no insurance on the other. Or since they're playing 2 spots is the player allowed to combine insurance bets for both spots into one bet?
Greetings I just got the app & starting my journey. Is there a way to shorthand the running count. Example... On table A,A K,4 5,6 J,2 with a quick look & cancelation process could you speedily determine count is 0. 5,6 canceled A,A-K,4 cancels self & J cancel 2 making count 0. ? TY
At minute 10:09 ...in both the player's hands he was left with "21" and the dealer with "20" but in the player's left hand he took it as a "push". Technically, the dealer kept his money in his left hand.
2:36 something similar happened to me last monday, i went to a casino to practice my card counting and basic strategy, the dealer seamed to be new since he was a little bit nervous and had the pit boss with him almost all the time, i kept hitting a hand and got a 20 against dealer 10, he flips the face down and got 20, the then takes my chips and calmly said "man i got a 20 it is a push" the pit boss counted my hand quickly and said to him "yes it is a 20, count it yourself and give back his money", the pit boss apologized to me and i said "dw it was an honest mistake from him" good thing i was at the low tables and it was kinda empty only another elder person but man im glad this didnt happened with a bigger stake. Also i saw the same dealer paying an extra chip to another player a couple of minutes later, the guy that got paid extra quickly pulled his chips back to his bank roll.
what i saw: dealer taking your chips when it is a push, not paying properly a couple of hands, and by the end of the video he changes his first face down card with what would be his second and upper card (5 was the face down and the 7 was supposed to be the upper card) good thing it didnt mattered on the outcome since he busted and showing a 5 helped all the players to stay and not keep pushing (and potentially busting) but still the dealer should not be switching their face down with their upper card
Betting errors r my problem...caught 8 basics n deviation...my game is sharp but leaving $ out there from not putting the money out when game is positive

@@Blackjackapprenticeship disappointed not to be spot on with it. The count went super high super quickly at the start , think I lost it somewhere around then
So I noticed a few that weren't mentioned but look like errors according to the website's memorizing basic strategy page: Split 4s on a 7 (website says 5, 6 only). Hit 13 on 2 (website says Stand). Did not Double 11 on 6 (website says always Double 11). Two instances of splitting 10s (website says never split 10s and 5s). I'm guessing the reason for these not being considered errors are due to taking into account the running/true counts and deviation?
My other errors were the "borderline" betting decisions they decided to take out...I don't know why though. Even if they're borderline that can cost you your edge so should still hold yourself accountable to it.
11/14, I'm actually quite proud of myself as I haven't gone to a casino yet and I am still practising. I know in a casino environment it's also a lot different than practising on an app so will continue to practise before playing with real money.
That's exactly what we suggest - It'll be a lot different in a casino but the better foundation you've got from practice and repetition the easier it will be to adjust and stay on track. Good luck training!

I had ending running count of +8 I missed 1 deviation and missed 1 overbet when the count was high, i knew my running count was off by 1 as soon as it happened when i was taking notes on the errors! overall not perfect but not bad either
I know I'm a year late to reply, but yes. I've caught it multiple times. Usually it's complete accident, and if it's happening often sometimes it will be in your favor. If a dealer consistently tries to steal your bets though, they may just have it out for you (weird Hall Monitor type power trip/angry at lack of tipping). Might be best to switch tables at that point.
Hey Colin. I had a question regarding your deviations charts, I can make out the correct choice to deviate to for some of them(hit instead of stand) but the soft totals on the chart are hard to understand. Am I standing, hitting, doubling instead? Thank you
Unfortunately I missed 1, I missed the one pay out error on a double down. But this was awesome practice that helped me gain confidence as recently I felt I may have been making mistakes and not catching them
my RC was off so, I had lots of counting errors because I was keeping track of the errors and while trying to figure out the wording, I would drop the count so I probably lost a couple points on the RC.
I. You pushed a 20 on the second round and dealer took your bet. II. Hit a 9 vs a 3 instead of doubling III. Repeated second mistake very next round IV. Doubled an 8 vs a 5 - against the book but possible deviation V. Hit a 13 vs 12 & stayed on 12 vs 12 same hand VI. Purchased insurance - possible playing deviation VII. Split 10’s vs a 6 - possible playing deviation VIII. You beat the dealer 21 vs 20 and did not get paid IX. I believe you surrendered a 17 vs a 10 instead of standing X. Split 10’s vs a 5 - possible playing deviation XI. You pushed against a dealer blackjack and dealer took your bet
* The second mistake was not repeated the second round. * I missed the over and under betting errors that were made. * I didn’t know the count threshold of whether you should take insurance.
thank you for this video! I'm working on counting so I only did basic strat and payouts. glad to say I got all those! Really appreciate BJA for this free video training. Can't wait to try my luck at it again when I get count and true conversion down!

You missed an error. On the last hand the dealer took the players money even though it was a push. I know that the true error for it was that the player should have taken even money, but could see that it was missed since this was the last hand of the video.

I love how he hits a 13 vs 2 then stands a 12 vs 2 on the same hand.
Yeah, I love how you don’t know that you don’t hit 12 V 2 above a True 3 🤡

@@tysontrill That's the point lol. If you don't hit a 12, you definitely don't hit a 13...
If the count was super high, and you got a 16, would you still bust yourself or stand ?
Per BJA's deviation sheet, hitting vs standing a 12 vs 2 is a deviation on true count 2 (stand vs dealer 3) or true count 3 (stand vs dealer 2).

At 7:42, playing deviations say to surrender a 14 vs T at TC>=3, which is a top 22 playing deviation as far as I know, but wasn't listed as an error.
If you don’t mind me asking what do you mean ?
Agree. In round 13 (TC+4) and round 19 (TC+6) should surrender 14v10. I caught 10 of Colin's and 2 more surrender errors, so I'm happy with my game!
Sometimes it's fun seeing error in person.

Hey Colin. I had a question regarding your deviations charts, I can make out the correct choice to deviate to for some of them(hit instead of stand) but the soft totals on the chart are hard to understand. Am I standing, hitting, doubling instead? Thank you
As a lazy a person I immediately spotted an error on the 2nd hand when they should have push because both of their cards are 20
I counted 14 but they weren’t all the errors mentioned 11 were so I guess i made a few errors myself? 😂
7/14. Great resource and appreciate putting premium content on a free channel. Gonna have to train harder!
I wouldn’t be going back to that casino if they made that many mistakes of the count
🤣
I counted 14 but they weren’t all the errors mentioned 11 were so I guess i made a few random made up ones 😂
I got 10/14 I don’t understand the over betting or under betting. I know where I need work at though.
I caught 13
Unfortunately I missed 1, I missed the one pay out error on a double down. But this was awesome practice that helped me gain confidence as recently I felt I may have been making mistakes and not catching them
I counted 19 errors but realized after I added 8 that weren't there and missed 3.
23 errors I counted
my RC was off so, I had lots of counting errors because I was keeping track of the errors and while trying to figure out the wording, I would drop the count so I probably lost a couple points on the RC.
Shouldn't you double down on 8 vs. dealer 5 during a true 5 or higher?
13:10 That hasn't happened to me yet but hopefully it will never happen.
I. You pushed a 20 on the second round and dealer took your bet.
II. Hit a 9 vs a 3 instead of doubling
III. Repeated second mistake very next round
IV. Doubled an 8 vs a 5 - against the book but possible deviation
V. Hit a 13 vs 12 & stayed on 12 vs 12 same hand
VI. Purchased insurance - possible playing deviation
VII. Split 10’s vs a 6 - possible playing deviation
VIII. You beat the dealer 21 vs 20 and did not get paid
IX. I believe you surrendered a 17 vs a 10 instead of standing
X. Split 10’s vs a 5 - possible playing deviation
XI. You pushed against a dealer blackjack and dealer took your bet
* The second mistake was not repeated the second round.
* I missed the over and under betting errors that were made.
* I didn’t know the count threshold of whether you should take insurance.
17vs 10 is surrender at +5
Amazing video. I'm not used to Surrender rules up here in Canada!
thank you for this video! I'm working on counting so I only did basic strat and payouts. glad to say I got all those! Really appreciate BJA for this free video training. Can't wait to try my luck at it again when I get count and true conversion down!
Would love more videos like this also is it that common to have payout mistakes
why did the dealer take the money on a push 2:33? 20vs20
That's the point of this video buddy
10:08 he pushed a player 21 against a dealer 20 😂
That shoe was player friendly.
new to this got a count of +8 can anyone confirm if this is even close lmao
I counted +9. Really close. Good job :)
Can someone explain what H17 Deviations vs S17 Deviations stand for in the BJA charts? Like what does H17/S17 stand for.
S17: dealer stands on soft 17, H17: dealer hits on soft 17
i caught all fourteen errors and actually thought i counted more but looking back i was mistaken still happy as hell i caught them i been practicing (minimal casino play) at home and im 80 pages into your book which is awesome by the way im hoping to start a larger bankroll soon but i wanna get perfect iv got aways to go thanks Colin all the way from Rochester NY…btw have u ever played at Del Lago casino resort here in upstate great rules and deck pen and 8/10 dealers have had open convos about counting in front of pit bosses its so lax there its almost unnerving lol
No, I've never been to NY... bucket list item, though.
17
Your still not giving it away for free your making money off these views and advertising revenue
What's wrong with that?
going off of the church team extended deviations for LS, 14 vs 10 should have surr.
Yeah, that's an expanded deviation on our charts. But that's one I always have used.
You missed an error. On the last hand the dealer took the players money even though it was a push. I know that the true error for it was that the player should have taken even money, but could see that it was missed since this was the last hand of the video.
It's literally on the list lmao
