A glass of red and a 35 minute long Jeff video. Saturday nights don't get any better than this! Thanks for the long format video Jeff, and thank you Missy for the request! Loved your relaxed and calm demeanour in this vid, totally chilled me out too. More long videos please! 😄🍷🌵🌴🪴🌱
Plants looking great in their terracotta pots & moss poles Jeff! Soon your basement will not have ground space for more plants; you’ll have to start building shelves on the wall. Thanks for sharing!
Oh my goodness, Jeff! I watched this earlier this morning and totally missed the shout out! LOL! Thank you so much. You know I love your channel and I'm def watching this vid a second time for the mention. LOL! Be blessed, my friend!🙏😇
🎉🎉🎉 Almost 65K!!🤩😍🤩!! Perfect video timing for me. My Florida Beauty has huge arial roots, needed that moss pole clip, desperately!!💓💓💓💓. We love youuu,😁, you know that!!! Thank you for the savings codes🥰🥰🥰🥰.
I wish tree fern fiber wasn't so expensive because I've found that mixing that in with my aroid mix and with my moss for any moss poles I have works WONDERS for my plants, *especially* my thirstier plants such as my crawlers, anthurium and things like the verricosum. It just seems to give the best ratio of moisture to aeration for the roots in the pot and the roots in the poles. When I have it iny poles I usually mix it in with the moss and sometimes a bit of perlite ❤
That is very interesting....I've heard a lot of people talking about this tree fern fiber, but I've never seen it. Thanks for sharing your care information
@@EverythingPlants Rhaphidophora decursiva, philodendron fuzzy petiole, philodendron pink princess, Florida Ghost, Monstera Albo, monstera thai constellation, philodendron squamiferum, and rhaphidophora tetrasperma. I bought more poles so more will be going on. I’m finding that when you transfer bigger plants to the poles they don’t root in only at the top. Has that been your experience?
The yellowing on the verrucosum can be under watering, or from minerals in tap water/ fertilizer burn. (Like a calathea) I had mine growing in just dechlorinated water with a drop of super thrive while it was acclimating from import and it grew perfect (but small) leaves
Yellow edges on older leaf could be due to fertiliser salt excess in soil mix. At least that was the case with my philodendron moonshine. If you find some o reason, kindly let us know. I changed my soil mix and now I am getting leaves with no issues. And place your moss pole in the exact center of pot and manage roots somehow in lil space left. That way it will never be wobbly. Also another thing I do is I fill bottom third of pot with leca. And my moss pole sits in Leca and not the soil over. That way you can freely water your pole without worrying about overwatering your plants. So I can choose to water aerial roots and not bottom roots. And vice versa.
I love your channel! I'm so glad that I did this reserch for pruning a Jade plant a few months ago! since then we're 10k more! I'M specially happy that you're also canadian and I can relate on what you use!
Great longer video Jeff. I really enjoyed. I got an anthurium aurea that’s about two feet tall. I e got it velcroed to a long bamboo stake. I think it’s time to buy some moss and thiccly poles to upsize it. I think it will need two poles to accommodate it.
Have you seen the plastic folding moss poles from Rosseau Plant Care? They open in the front, which seems to offer better access to make changes to the plant. I've never tried one myself. I just found their channel today. They actually make the product themselves so they can make changes as they find the need. They look more difficult to assemble, but maybe the benefits make it worth the extra time. Just curious about your opinion. 🌻Thank you!
Hi Jeff . Philodendron Verrucosum doesn't like to be on dry side. I never wait to long for watering. I found that when I got him that he like to be in moist soil. Because of trips I had to cut him and with me being busy , it's growing in the water and doing great. I need to get fertilizer which you are using. Your plants are just gorgeous 😍
I like the clear thiccly poles too. The only poles that I’ve actually had moss stay moist enough so that the plant’s roots have grown into the moss. I’m a Make the pole and stuff the moss into the top with a chopstick kind of gal. I have trouble fastening the tabs when the moss is in the pole ahead of time. Glad there is a couple ways to achieve the same goal! 😊. FInally, tried extending the poles on my dark lord. Worked like a charm!
Use a bottle upturned with a hole in the cap..it drips the mosspole very slowly...and it drips IN THE MIDDLE OF THE POLE..so it doesnt dry out as fast...
So what are your current thoughts on planks vs plastic (moisture retaining) moss poles? Do you feel planks are easier and give adequate results for sizing up, but the moss pole might produce slightly larger leaves in the end? What would to tell a helicopter plant parent vs a more laid back plant parent?
Planks are definitely easier to maintain but only a few plants truly latch on to the board..... Pothos being one of them. Now for my philodendrons, they never really attached to the plank. Now since transferring them to Moss, they have definitely upsized the leaves and grew their aerial roots into the moss. So one is not better than the other in my experience. It just depends which plant you put on them
Hi Jeff, I’m glad I found you. You’re a great resource , so much useful info . I was wondering if you are growing a philodendron Summer Glory? I just planted my young plant with a moss pole , but I’m not really sure if it’s a climber ; haven’t found specific info on that .
Do you still have your Rhaphidophora Tetrasperma? I remember watching a video on it with the moss pole and all. I would love to see an update for them!
Are you also watering the pot, along with the moss? If not, that can make the leaves yellow. Some people say you don't need to water the pot if you have a moss pole, but I've found that to be untrue.
@@EverythingPlants I don't own a Verrucosum, but I did some googling for you, and various websites say it's most commonly from overwatering. Btw, I love your channel!
Love watching your videos! You have such a great work area for re-potting and tinkering around. Bet you have an amazing supply of stuff under your work table…maybe we’ll get a view sometime?!
I did with these ones, but you can add soil into the very bottom of the pole and to the level of the pot then add moss in....I've done both methods with no difference.
G'day Jeff 🙋🏻♀Really enjoyed this vid and the THICCLY pole demo. My favourite part was at the end when you said "...I dont know where I'm gonna put it...!" That's me ALL THE TIME 🤦🏻♀and it's getting to the point where my fam bam are noticing and saying "You sure you got enough plants there?!?!?!?!?!?!" So will have to re-arrange my space ( sadly I don't have a big house with a basement or double garage) to maximise the 'real estate' and lighting situation that I do have 😬 But will look into these poles and maybe try them out as there is a version of these here in Syd now 😅
Oh noooo; now, I am looking into purchasing moss pole supplies...😊 The leaves on your moss pole plants are SPECTACULAR. 🌿🌺🪴 I remember when you first potted them up, they were all pole...😂

Thanks for the suggestion! I read all my comments and sometimes I can not respond to them all.....but I appreciate every single one.
Hi Jeff, you want to put the extension inside the base then click the tabs to connect. That way all the water drains down the inside of the pole. 😊
Yup..I already saw the water dip out the back of the pole. Haha live and learn. Thanks Caroline
I love watching your plant chores. 🪴

My decursiva did the same thing and i had to cut the pole so it could be free . Looks like we need to watch them better lol
Yes! 😂
I’ve been using he plastic moss poles thanks to your suggestion & love them! You’re going to fall that stool one day during a video lol
That is awesome! Glad to hear you like them
just wondering how you manage watering all your plants .. there's so many :D
I usually do just a walk through like once a day and I have two four liter jugs filled with water and fertilizer......fill up as I go
What are those moss poles called?
The brand is called Thiccly. I have them on my Amazon pages in the description of this video
@@EverythingPlants thanks I'll see if I can order some I'm in the UK so not sure.
I think the “plant fingers” you were referring to are called lobes? Not 100% on that but that’s my guess lol

Lovely video thankyou :)
You’re welcome 😊
What’s the status on your moss plank?
The Manjula in it pretty much died so I replaced it with a SLOW GROWING scindapsus jade satin....nothing to report 🤣
well it make no sense to me that their aerial roots make their leaves bigger , i mean in the wild they are climb up a tree ?
