- Shane Meadows has put on hold his gritty, intense drama series 'This Is England' in order to make - of all things - a rock documentary. But then he has called the musicians in question - the Stone Roses - his favourite band of all time.

John Snow really doesn't know what he's talking about in this clip. They were far older than their 'late teens' when they rose to prominence and they were overtly political at a time when few other bands of any description were.
Indeed. They were mid 20's, approaching late 20's when they really got big. They were in their 30's by the time the Second Coming was released. Also, their song subjects had plenty of political overtones. Judging by their song lyric themes, Brown/Squier were well read.
They were all in their late twenties by 1988/ 90. Don't think Mounfield was on the studio Sally Cinnamon pre Elephant Stone.
I don't think it's that uncommon unfortunately with Mr Snow. I love Channel 4 News, but they do seem to try and pander to a specific audience and the interviews are often inaccurate, quite flattering, and almost always London-centric (yes, there is culture outside of London hence The Roses).
I thought it was mid 20s - from around 88 to 90, which also ties in with how Noel was older when Oasis broke because he was of a similar, if slightly younger, age.

@@BloodSweatAndMeth Fair enough! But maybe He wasn't Allowed to? So what can he do, Not make it coz he's a Fan? Catch 22! I agree that it Didn't go into The why's and what's on The Real/Harder Things like... Drugs, Court Case's, Second Coming taking so long n the change in Direction from the Demo's ie Breaking into heaven sounding Funky to Squire Completely taking over & it's Led Zep Vibe etc! But it's still interesting but I know what you mean!
I wonder if John Snow noticed how many white people were in the crowd at the stone Rose's spike island gigs?

I hate Meadows interjecting himself so much in the doc who wants to hear him wibble on and on . More rehearsal or live footage instead. Didn't rate it at all. And why no full show release ?
