Loved the way John Squire slipped in the ‘Day Tripper’ riff during his workout playing ‘Fools Gold’ live in the movie. 🎸🇬🇧
That studio version of waterfall is masterfull
Love the Roses, ever since I bought the first album totally on spec without having heard of them before. Never had the chance to see them live, but can't wait to see this film.
The roses were the George best of music weren’t they
W 9797 I think you’ve provided too much explanation there. Can you shorten it?
@W 9797 Yes
Rene is one of the best drummers you'll ever hear, bar none
mate I love the stone roses but he is not in the top ten of drummers
Oh yes he is, one of the finest + the reason why I love the roses.
Reni
This film was actually a revelation for me regarding Reni. I hadn't realized what a good drummer he was prior to watching the rehearsal footage. It doesn't come across on the records to the same extent since they're so guitar-heavy. Top ten lists are futile, but he's certainly an excellent drummer in terms of groove and creativity.
@@vapjrk A response that shows you know very little about drumming. Reni is a genius, every bit as good as Bonham, Baker, Rich, Morello, Liezbezeit etc. etc. Educate yourself, please.
I hope this isn't one of those films that gets limited showings in only certain parts of the country. Put it on general release for all to see !
Dig is a great Rockumentary
I thought it was lacking as a documentary. As a love letter to his favourite band it kind of worked. But was it really a documentary about the band...not really. It was non linear and fizzed out with the dull footage from the Reformation gig. The highlight for me was the free gig footage. The rehearsal footage was dull. If you are a die hard fan you'll love it.
I'm not a Stone Roses' fan, but I am a musician of sorts and I thought the rehearsal footage was the highlight of the film. 🤷
james KING! haha amazing.
A Mark Kermode poem here that I wrote in good humour, just type in.....My ode to Kermode
They made one iconic, original, and era defining album. But that was it.
So did The Sex Pistols
A tad harsh. The second album was great, totally different from the the first, their record sleeves were brilliant and there are B sides that make a great album.
A very lazy assessment. If you could be bothered listening to The Complete Stone Roses, you'll find they recorded 20+ singles and B sides that are masterful but never officially graced an official album. Please educate yourself.
@sabalos Why do you feel the need to tell people you aren't a fan. You'll fall in love with them. It's inevitable. One Love.
Then why would you watch a review of their documentary?
It's the same with reviewers.. if you like a reviewer you watch reviews of movies you haven't the slightest interest in
Strange. The review ends with the good doctor praising another film altogether- albeit a very good one.
First World Problems was a dig at Reni.
Reni ? Is it true ur going to be the biggest band in the world,Reni answers we just want to be the biggest band in r street, one love
I don't recall ever hearing of this band?
Were they ever notable in the US?
America wasn't ready for them
Wake up America your already dead😉
They're defintely worth a listen. Great british band from the late 80s manchester scene
@@ethandowse9145
Having given them a isten, I don't think anyone was ready for them, honestly.
@@oTgNinJAFTW
They're fine, but just standard pseud-garage band "indy rock" stuff. But I guess that's their appeal to many of their fans...
Spot the dog!
I agree with everything you have typed.I went to see them at Finsbury park last Friday and I'm still none the wiser - although they were a great live act.An entire career based on two albums in 25 years - something doesn't add up here.
The first album was enough to put them in any hall of fame. I was at Finsbury Park on the Saturday and it was amazing. One Love ✌🏻
Ian brown can’t sing a note
@@Exnavyjay Oh he can. It's just never the right note.
Fools gold is quite good but other than that completely agree .
Fair
apology accepted x
why watch or even comment on a band you feel so negative about NOB!!!!!!!!
this bloke likes the sound of his own voice far too much.
As a documentary it's pretty poor. It's essentially live footage with a bit of archive thrown in. Fine as a fan I guess, but it really isn't a documentary.
It was a fly on the wall/love letter to The Stone Roses. That's fine by me, I like some trad documentaries, but the talking heads get boring after a while, I get bored about what so and so says about the band who roadied for them for two days or something.
I hated it! I love the band more than most.
The Stone Roses are pretty good.
Ice is pretty cold.
We can all make understatements.
does this guy even take a breath and let anyone else speak?
sabalos,you have no taste whatsoever
not that huge.i thought it was a brilliant film all the way.perhaps not enough, childiosh gossiop, for such a huge fan. you aint no fan son.
