I remember watching this movie years ago. I already loved the original Tarzan and I also had liked this. I was young so I didnt really notice the difference in animation and such things. so it's kind of a childhood special thing to me. even though I know now Its not that great.
Yeah i loved the cartoon series, and honestly, I think the stories in this werent too bad and I quite liked the song. I think that he was too hard on it just because it was a sequel.

I really miss the good 2d movies like the original Tarzan. Frozen and Tangled look good and all, but I hate how 3d seems to always replace 2d when they both feel like 2 different forms of art, not 2 different evolutionary steps of art.
Agreed, I love the HunchBack Of Notre Damn, Mulan, Princess and The Frog, Pocahontas, Hercules, The Emperor's New Groove, The Rescuers, and Bambi. I mean do love the new movies that are in 3d such as Zootopia, Wreck it Ralph, Tangled, Big Hero 6, Toy Story (2, and 3), Bolt, and even Frozen. Its just that it'd be awesome if they brought back the 2d movies.
The reason why hand drawn is falling out of popularity is that it takes A LOT of effort for little money. The princess and the frog made no where near as much money as Frozen, especially when compared to their movie budgets. Also, CGI takes less effort. I'm not quite sure how it works, but I'm pretty sure it involves creating models of the characters and then creating commands to make them move (this is how I assume it's done. I'm not an expert.) While certainly difficult, it doesn't require the manpower and time that hand drawn animation, which is drawn frame by frame, takes. If you watch anime, you'll hear about the terrible conditions animators have to work in to produce those hand drawn episodes each week for little money. I personally like hand drawn animation because of the smoothness and art styles, but CGI, in the eyes of companies, is more cost productive.
Funny story is that I had a similar discussion with my friends about "Atlantis Milo's Return" Movie being the similar victim of Disney trying to make money off of a old Disney movie.

In the TV show, it's shown how more and more Europeans are settling in Tarzan's region. It's actually interesting to see how Tarzan has to put up with all the urbanisation.

The guy who runs the Trading post (the one who directed the diamond hunters to Tarzan) is French, as is the Commandant of the Foreign Legion who shows up in a few episodes hunting a pair of deserters (who have become friends with Tarzan) The actual odd thing is the the TV show illustrates there is a native tribe living a few days away from Tarzan, and yet no mention of them is made before this either.

As to the general question, is because those sequels were made by the ToonDisney arm, which was created specifically FOR the direct to DVD sequels. So...created merely for a cash flow, hence why everything is under par. Because it wasn't MEANT to actually be good. Most of the these sequels certainly have questionable canonocity as well.
Toy Story 2 and 3 don't really count because they're Pixar sequels. Pixar sequels are all made by Pixar so the animation is never subpar. Whereas most Disney sequels are made by Toon Disney (which is the branch that made the animated TV shows on Disney Channel. Though they also made A Goofy Movie, which was awesome).
i really liked the "the legend of Tarzan" i thought it was a good show. not the best but worth watching. also worst Disney has to go to "the hunchback of Notre dame 2"
Honestly I watched a few episodes I liked it. Especially the episode with Teddy Roosevelt, no I'm not joking you should see that one episode. It is awesome!
In England I remember these episodes being broadcast separately. I really liked the scene where Tarzan was talking with Jane's dad, who reasoned "Jane has to live in your world every day of her life... would it be so bad to live in hers for just one day" and Tarzan realises that he was being a bit selfish, and that after everything Jane's given up for him, he shouldn't make this about him. Even as an emotionally averse kid, I found this to be a compelling piece of empathetic drama. Anyway, are you sure these episodes weren't broadcast? Those poacher guys come back in a later episode. This might just be an anthology release. I think they made a few of these, as there was one for Jungle Cubs aswell. FYI, Tarzan doesn't work as a tour guide. The trading post man just know's Tarzan would be the best help to those guys, but he also knows he's very proud, and not greedy, so getting him to comply might be difficult.

I really enjoyed the Legend of Tarzan series when I was a kid. It was one of my fav TV shows and I couldn't wait until the new episodes lol. I enjoyed the film as well, it rounded up the series nicely. But to each their own lol

It was going to be a series of humorous spin-offs based on Star Wars Episodes I-VI, sort of like spoof skits. Disney bought LucasFilm while it was being created and shelved the 39 episodes that had been completed at that point.

I actually really like The Legend of Tarzan. Yeah by today's standards the animation isn't good but I've seen worse, the voice acting was good and all but one voice did well matching the original voices (sorry April Winchell but you're no Rosie O'Donnell), a lot of the episodes had good plots, they used many elements from the books including having two of the recurring villains be from there such as Queen La who's design I'm surprised got past the censors, had few one-shot characters and had many connections to the movie that helped tie the two together really well. Also the episodes had many themes and elements to it you never really expect from a cartoon at that time so it actually helped pave the way for later cartoons that would push the envelope as much as it did. Does it have it's bad moments at times? Yes, that's something no cartoon can avoid really. But it's certainly not awful especially when you got series like Breadwinners running around.

Probably a pilot movie to the tarzan tv show... doesn't make it any better, just sayin. Alladin2 was basicly a pilot for the (awesome) show, and alladin 3 was the great ending to this show. the series actually did get airtime... on Toon Disney. There was an episode where the professor was after the fountain of youth... because that exists for some reason. There's one where Clayton's sister tries to kill Tarzan (yeah... never heard that before). And there's one where he meets his sisters Anna and Elsa.

Sheridan Mann Star Wars Detours was a TV show made by the creators of the Robot Chicken series. It was going to be a series of humorous spin-offs based on Star Wars Episodes I-VI, sort of like spoof skits. Disney bought LucasFilm while it was being created and shelved the 39 episodes that had been completed at that point.

It came down to reviewing one of the two games for now, as I don't wanna go for two games made by the same developer too soon, but I really outta see about getting that running again sometime. That was my Donkey Kong Country back in the day, well before I'd even heard of Donkey Kong Country.

I actually really like The Legend of Tarzan. Yeah by today's standards the animation isn't good but I've seen worse, the voice acting was good and all but one voice did well matching the original voices (sorry April Winchell but you're no Rosie O'Donnell), a lot of the episodes had good plots, they used many elements from the books including having two of the recurring villains be from there such as Queen La who's design I'm surprised got past the censors, had few one-shot characters and had many connections to the movie that helped tie the two together really well. Also the episodes had many themes and elements to it you never really expect from a cartoon at that time so it actually helped pave the way for later cartoons that would push the envelope as much as it did. Does it have it's bad moments at times? Yes, that's something no cartoon can avoid really. But it's certainly not awful especially when you got series like Breadwinners running around.
Agreed, the series had some pretty high level themes and jokes that were ahead of its time

When I was little, I begged my parents to rent this movie at the drug store because Tarzan was my favorite Disney film. This movie crushed my dreams; I felt so betrayed. No joke, it was so bad that it made me cry. :c

There was an episode where the professor was after the fountain of youth... because that exists for some reason. There's one where Clayton's sister tries to kill Tarzan (yeah... never heard that before). And there's one where he meets his sisters Anna and Elsa.
