A simple tip on how to sound proof your room.
Hi UA-cam family. I would like to share with you why I need to sound proof my room here in Singapore. Here in Singapore, there are a lot of complains when it comes to noise and other musical sounds. Through this video, you might have an idea on how you can sound proof or minimize sound from coming out from your room.

This is what I’ve been wanting! A lot of videos on these panels are about limiting echoes in the room and I’m like nooooo I need them so people stop complaining about me being loud when playing video games 😂 thank you for this!
Thanks for dropping by. All the best to you. 😁👍🏻
Have you found that these work for you? I dont want everyone outside my room to hear me
What you need is sound isolation. these panels disperse sound and reduce reflections and hence echos. So I learned that sound isolation methods are completely different to sound absorption and sound reflection reduction. Towels apparently work best in reducing all of those.
@@eingoluq what kind of towels?
@@jl8686any. old or new. obviously, the fluffier the better, but you can use any really. just remember to at minimum double it up.
Thanks I was looking for a video where someone test this from outside the room now my mum can hear my music and me talking to my friends!
You can try this 😁👍🏻
Can or can’t lol
I've done a lot of research on soundproofing
And the truth is that when you're improving the sound in your studio you'll be dealing with two different issues
1.) Sound reflection. Sound within the studio that bounce the wall and back into the mice.
2.) Soundproofing. Sound coming into the studio from outside or sound created in the studio and going out.
Sounds or frequency produced outside is one thing and mechanical sound created by your structural is another issue.
The foams on your video are meant for sound reflection (sound bouncing the wall) not for soundproofing.
And even for sound reflection, studies shows those foams do very little.
Thanks for the information.
What can you recommend so i can soundproof my wife's boyfriend room ?
@@xljx8304 ahhmm you try this.
@Luis Gonzales, Oh yeah, this is a very interesting comment. Actually, I want to practice violin & guitar in my appartment room without bothering my neighbors, so in this case, I should buy equipement for soundproofing not sound reflection right?
What can you recommend in this case because i nearly bought the same equipements as the guy from the video just before reading your comment.
What do you advice to avoid bothering the neighbors (aka soundproofing )
@@adriancambier7464 the foam reduces the power of the sound a little bit, another type of material is mineral wool or ex Rockwool brand to be specified, but if you need total dampened wall, apply mass loaded vynil or double the wall, created some room within the room. dont forget raised the floor too!
Love the laugh and positive energy haha :) thanks for showing how it sounds on the outside! I can never understand all the decibel and hertz talk or read the meters 🥴
Just trust your ears. Thanks for stopping by Taylor
your happiness is contagious, bless you
Thanks Niko
Thanks Blaire for the how to and before after. This is a great idea! A neighbour plays the violin, a few plays the piano, including myself. If I can hear them, I sure they can hear me! I want to be considerate.
Yes you are correct about that. You can also play not later than 9pm :D

@@laurabrown6073 Thanks
Guys do not try the double sided tape you will just waste your time base on my experience after few hours it will fall down use a Insolation adhesive spray
Wow thanks Binson for the advise.
I think when people say that this just stops reflection and doesn't sound proof, the are trying to say it's not sound proofing by the technical definition, which would be to block sound from leaving or entering a room; but instead it stops unwanted sound inside the room from traveling around inside the room and creating noise that you might not want in studio recording.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts Trevor :)
Should make before and after 😁
Thanks for sharing! My new BTO house rooms are so echo-ey! This guide helps alot
Have always wondered how to attach the panels without them dropping off
I've used BluTac. You can use it without damaging your walls.
Using weather strips rin sir around your door jamb and a rubber door sweep at the bottom of you door para ma seal yung door at walang air leaks. I was also considering using thickening the door for more mass by using drywall/mdf/plywood. I actually wanted to try getting an edrum kaso problema rin sa hdb eh di kaanong kakapal yung floor slab need pang gumawa rin nang floor riser.
Salamat for your tips. 😁👍🏻
Thanks! I just needed to learn how to install the soundproof insulation. Your video helps better after going on a few videos.. 🙄..
You're welcome. I hope you were able to manage your installation. 🙂👍🏻
Blaire, I have a small livingroom and my neighbour is always complaining about my music being too loud and feel I am always walking on egg shells. Would you think that using these tiles on the wall that seperates us would work? Cheers my man!
You can try. For my case, it did help. :)
I have noisy neighbor, will it work vice versa? or is it just other people hearing you?
You can try :D
Hi! Thanks for sharing the tips on soundproofing the room. Could you share where you purchase the foam? I would like to soubdproof my room too!
Thanks for watching. I ordered it on Shopee. 👍🏻😁
Because that wall is quite sensitive 😂😂🤣 You're too kind 😂
😁😁 thanks. You know lah 😅
Hi Blaire, does it reduce the noise coming from the next room?
In my case, it helps especially from the door. The sound from the other room sounds softer inside. 👍🏻🙂 It also depends on how loud the sound.
@BlaireBustillo Thank you, Blaire :)
Thank You very Much Sir for uploading this video...I Will show your video to my Son...
You're welcome. Thanks for watching :D
This is not sound proofing .. it's stopping high frequencies from bouncing around. You need much thicker absorption material attenuate even mid frequencies from bouncing off your walls, never mind bass which are passing right through. Sound proofing requires density or air gaps-- ideally a combination of both.
Thanks for the suggestion. Budget is also the main concern. 😁
Special personality.. Good video👍
Thanks Eric. :)
where can we buy blue tack??
im looking for something to used holding this panels. thank you
Bluetacs can be bought in any local shops. Try searching online if you can not find in your local stores.
You are amazing! Awesome video and instruction!
Thank you for your generosity honey! xoxo
You are so welcome!

Are there any professional service providers who do these kind of arrangements in Singapore? I suck at DIY stuff.
I think there are but it's costly for professional service in room acoustic setup :)
There’s no way that did anything other than reduce echo somewhat in your room. That is what those tiles are designed to do. Stopping sound is a completely different story. I’ve been on this for two years. At this point, bang for buck, no-toxics or fiberous floatasm...moving blankets. At least 8 layers helps minimize, 16 layers approaches “soundproofing”.
What do you mean by toxics
@@DejaBilal by toxics, I mean like chemicals. Say you use ceiling tiles (which are excellent). They will off gas butyric acid when they meet humidity. You’ll feel mildly ill. Another example is wood products like sheathing or osb. They can contain formaldehyde. Not good.
@@johnc6042 got you man
@@johnc6042 hi John, What are some ways I can soundproof my room, could you explain both an expensive and cheap routes?

Do you know the music for this video?
I'm sorry I don't remember anymore. It is from the UA-cam Audio Library.

Hey man did this stop noise from entering the room as well?
Sound was minimized 👍🏻
such a nice guy lol
Hi I just got my drums set up a wk ago now looking forward to install those sound absorbers..wat abt window panels with blind any idea?
You can try with thick curtains so that sound may be minimized.
so you cant hear them likewise?
It depends on where you put the panels. 😁
Oh, so I don’t need to put the acoustic panels in the entire room? Just the big parts?
yes you are right. if you can utilize curtains, the better :)
Thank you for this wonderful idea! I will now buy some foams so i can't hear my neighbors radio at night.
You're welcome. Thanks for watching. 😁👍🏻
hi can i ask how you cut them for the door thankyou
Use a new and sharp cutter blade. Measure it first then cut accordingly. 👍😊
hey blaire! would you say that the sound panels also cancel noise coming from the outside or just block the sound from escaping?
Hi there. It depends on where you put it. But based on my experience, specially the door part, it lessens the sound from the outside.
Can you also hear the noise outside?
Yes of course but softer.
ayy bro, can i use this to block any sounds from outside??
I also came here to ask the same question! Have a loud heater outside my window and the noise/vibration combo wakes me up multiple times a night.
You can try putting it but try to add a double reinforcement of taurpauline.
@@BlaireBustillo good idea, i'll see what i can do bout it, thanks man :D
What about the floor? Your neighbour downstairs cant hear you?
I haven't received any complaints from them yet.
I want to ask, Can the noise outside (your neighbour noise and car sound ) enter into your room after soundproofing the room ?
It still can be heard but a lesser. It also depends on where you place the foams. 😁👍🏻
@@BlaireBustillo ok,,,, so when you are recording, will the noise from your neighbour go into the microphone ?
Where do u buy those sound proofing panels?
I bought it in carousel. Try also any online shops like shopee and lazada.
Do you have a before and after test ?
don't have.
Your videos is so funny and you are making good videos
Thank you Zooka. 😁👋🏻👋🏻♥️
Hey there, may i know if this works in stopping noise coming from outside?
It really depends on how loud the sound is and where you put the foams. You can try and see. My setup is just based on my experience.
Will it work on wood ceiling? just asking 😃
You can try. I haven't tried it on the ceiling. :)
Pls give us the link of the audio panel. Thanks
search in carousell or shopee. search acoustic panels. :D
You can check it out in Shopee. :)
Did it work??
Your room don't have window?
Have. I have curtains on it. 😁👍🏻
How we want to install the panel to make it sound proofing?
You can check the video on how I mounted it. :) Thanks for watching.
I thought acoustic foam
Just reduces echo. Do these really soundproof your room?
It is also part of the compliance of my neighbors eyes if they will complain again. You know, show them that I've done something. 😁😁
What is the name of the product and how much did they cost?
Its acoustic panel. Its $1.50 each :) Are you staying here in Singapore?
Pag nag lagay po ba nang ganito sa loob, hindi na din maririnig yung nasa labas na ingay?
Ma lessen pag nasa mga areas na doon nangaling ang sound.
My down stairs hear my TV loud, can this help me?
You can use a thick carpet to suppress the sound
Based on the physics of sound proofing. Your room wouldn't do much. To many gaps. However, definitely would sound dampen to a small degree
Thanks for your inputs 😁👍🏻
Can this also block the sound coming from the outside?
Only a little
Just thought i would put this out there, but this is not sound proofing the room. this is actually just acoustic treatment to reduce REVERB...making the room sound more dead and sure this might give the illusion of a quieter space in essence it should be as less sound is bouncing around how ever if he was having problems with people hearing him through the wall....this issue would still continue... to sound proof a room you would have to spend THOUSANDS of dollars investing into the structuce of the house.....he said it him self at one point ACOUSTIC PANNEL not SOUND PROOF pannel
great video on acoustic treatment though !
The acoustic panels will still help in reducing the decibel level in the neighboring wall. It won't completely block out the sound but it will reduce the level of noise.
I agree with your thoughts. It will cost you much. But this is not my place, I'm just renting. At least minimizing a few db would help it. 😁👍 Thanks for stopping by. Appreciate it.
I agree Gary. Thanks. I didn't receive any complaints as of the moment. 👍😁
Blaire Bustillo have you gotten any complaints since? Or have the panels you put up worked pretty well?
Does it really work. Planning to buy thingy like that to do it on my room. Because of my bullshit gossiper neighbor however,I'm hesitant because it'll cause me money and not sure if it'll work. (please share some insight's) thanks.
It really depends on your situation there.
how much did it cost for all the acoustic foam you buy?
Around 150sgd. 👍🏻😁
@@BlaireBustillo how many acoustic foam??
Around 120pcs
Hi, will this work the same way if you dont want the noise from outside to come inside the room
a different story. but you have to put thick curtain on your window so that it will deplete the sound from outside.
Thanks 🙏🏽
Hi do U thing this foam can block the footstep noise from rooftop ceiling
I haven't tried. You can try it on your ceiling.
Hi, I just would like to know where do you get the foam from?? Thanks.
I got it from Shopee 😁👍🏻
@@BlaireBustillo how many foam did you spend on your room?
@@BreakOleg About 120pcs :)
your way was just to reduce sound reflection
Are this for real? What you've done is only absorbing some few high frequencies and do nothing for soundproofing at all. That thing is barely heavy. Soundproof needs mass/ density.
Yes but it is very expensive to have a full soundproof according to your standards. :D
@@BlaireBustillo dude, I didn't set the standard. Your neighbors do. Anyway, I wish the best for your soundproofing. You'll learn along the way
hi, may I check how many mm did you get for these foam tiles?
30x30mm per foam.
does it block sound from outside?
It depends where you place it but for me it's not fully supressed. 👍🏻😁
Where did you buy this stuff
I bought this online. Are you staying in Singapore?
It work or not?
Your soundproof look thin
Have you watched it?
Hi, did it also significantly decrease sound coming from outside of the room?
Hi Kerwin, it did help according to my house mates. 👍🏻😁😁
where did you buy these from? How much did it cost? Thanks
You can check in Carousell. $1.5 each
kaya ba nyan magabsorb ng tunog ng speakers balak ko kasi ilagay sa studio room para hindi mainis yung kapitbahay

Is there a strong smell to those panels?
Only at first few days. Foam smell.
Where can I buy.
I bought if from Shopee :D

Put the foam that’s been vacuum pack into water and it goes back to its original size. Dry it before putting it onto the wall obviously.
Thanks Antony for the suggestion. :)
will it minimize sound coming from outside?
well it depends on how loud the sound. You can add up some thick curtains or tarpaulins.
❤❤❤❤❤

Am tired of my annoying neighbor complaining about me. Please how's it working. Is it that worthy of a try
You can try. It really depends on how loud the sound is.

i think the sound didnt leak out to other rooms in the house mostly cos u did the door well. either way this is a good idea i can try out 👍
btw how is the Blu tac holding onto the foam on the door 1 yr later?
