Do I have to fill entire clam shell? Can I use just the template.

      I would like to know this too and also the jug that you have the wax melting in what is it called please your vids make everything easier ☺️

    • @CosyOwl
      @CosyOwl  3 роки тому +2

      Hello - We recommend the temperate of the second pour to be 55-60°C, a third pour may also be necessary if you still have sink holes! This reaction is very common and is caused by the wax shrinking as it cools. You could also try pouring the wax at a lower temperature allowing for a smaller shrinkage to happen.

    • @CosyOwl
      @CosyOwl  3 роки тому

      Hello Carlie - The jug used is our wax pouring jug (2.5 Litre) which is currently out of stock, but we do have other candle making extras availble on our website: www.cosyowl.com/candle-extras. You can also sign up to be emailed when the jug comes back in stock.

    Hi!
    I’ve started to make wax melts and candles but my fragrances are SUPER oily and my candles aren’t setting properly because they’re just melting even after leaving them 24 hours they melt the day after when you even touch the candle.
    What fragrance oil do you use? Love you videos by the way! Super easy to follow x

    • @CosyOwl
      @CosyOwl  2 роки тому +2

      This normally occurs when you are using too much fragrance or the wax you are using is not porous enough to hold the fragrance. Make sure you are using the correct amount of fragrance in relation to the wax. We use our own fragrance oils designed for use in candles and many more products! Always check the IFRA document of the fragrance you are using for the safe level of use and also the wax you are using as the manufacturer will advise what percentage of fragrance this holds best.

    If I was to use essential oils, like the ones in the little brown bottles instead of the fragrance oils, how much would I use?

    • @CosyOwl
      @CosyOwl  2 роки тому +1

      Levels of essential oils used in products differs greatly than that of fragrance oils. Our guidelines are 3% for candles, 25% in base oil for reed diffusers, 3% in soap and 2% when used in conjunction with carrier oils.

    • @CosyOwl

      @soco wow - Remove as much product as you can to dispose of correctly and wash in hot soapy water. Dish soap helps to emulsify the leftover wax and break it down but please do not then pour this down the sink. Again this is to be disposed of correctly.

    Hello, first time at your channel. I have no idea at all about this kind of craft and want to give it a try. I would like to ask you, when the 'wax melt' is ready to be used, what remains in the dish, is it reusable or because there won't be any fragrance, then no reason to reuse it.
    Thank you for your help.

    • @CosyOwl
      @CosyOwl  8 місяців тому

      Hi and welcome! The wax will re harden in the dish and can be removed, some reuse this until the scent has gone, however we have a couple of suggested ways you could reuse them:
      - Create a scented pouch- Add to a cloth pouch and hang it up
      - Make your bin smell nice- tape inside your bin
      🙂 We have lots of recipes on our website too, be sure to check these out for more inspiration.

    • @CosyOwl
      @CosyOwl  3 роки тому +1

      Hello Lauren - We've put together some top tips on how to avoid frosting:
      - Heat the glasses before pouring to reduce the temperature difference so cooling happens gradually (the faster the cooling, the more frosting issues emerge)
      - Pour at a lower temperature
      - Use less dye
      - Make sure there are no draughts in the room and the room stays at a consistent ambient temperature
      - Raise the glasses off the work surfaces with a wire rack if work surface is cool

    • @CosyOwl
      @CosyOwl  3 роки тому +1

      Hello Rosie - This is known as a sink hole and is quite normal so don’t be overly concerned. This reaction is caused by the wax shrinking as it cools and there are a few options to try to avoid or rectify this. You can pour the wax at a lower temperature allowing for a smaller shrinkage to happen. Or you can leave a small amount of wax leftover after your first pour and as the wax melts start cooling, apply another thin layer on top until the hole is filled, leaving you with a smooth surface as we have in the video.
