- Amazon is the biggest clothing retailer in the US despite the overall experience leaving much to be desired. This week we're navigating 'helpful' Amazon Answers, reviews, and unpronouncable brand names in search of a new jacket and some fire techwear clothing.

My 15 minutes! In the end the jacket was almost legit, I have to say. I like that Ant takes it easy on dropshippers since they're individually small but kinda pulls his punches less when its a big company like amazon. Comedy gold some of this!

I bought a couple of bits of clothing from Amazon and Shien for my son and the fabric was so thin as to make them completely unusable if it wasn't the hottest day of the year. I don't imagine they'd survive more than a couple of washes either.
I think most people are just happy when something is as cheap as humanly possible which account for the popularity of Amazon because it certainly nails that part of the brief.
IMO for a niche fashion such as techwear, I think it's better to stick with a fairly expensive brand. Doesn't have to be Acronym, but something like Enfin Leve, Riot Division, Reindee Lusion will do its job really well.
I have a Riot Division jacket and an Enfin Leve pants that has seen a very heavy use, I used them almost every time I went out, and they still performed really well just like when I bought them 2 years ago.
Definitely my best purchase even if it cost a bit too much.
Honestly the fact that Amazon looks like it hasn't been updated since 2008 is the main reason that I have never bought anything there. It's a cluttered mess and I have no clue which sellers are reliable and which are not. This video just confirms my suspicions
Only clothes I've ever bought on Amazon are the things sold by actually known brands (usually cuz its cheaper than on their own sites) and only if they are returnable.
New Zealand is just about to get Amazon for the first time. I'm really worried what it will do for smaller business, we have a great consumer culture here with local boutiques that are supported by the community. Would be such a shame to see that disappear!

Even buying legit brands on Amazon is risky. My Gstar Rovics arrived with both legs bunched up into a ball so they were super creased. Dunno what the hell the seller was doing, even saw some reviews from 2018 stating they arrived in the same condition. Thankfully washing them removed most of the creases. Will stick to buying tech and accessories on that site.
The only clothes I buy off Amazon are jeans. Because I know my EXACT pants size (30×30) and I know which brand pants I want that fit the best. And work shoes.
Well I'm gonna have to try to spread this video far and wide so we can achieve that goal! I'd love to see what an amazon stylist would come up with lol.

I can’t remember a single time I’ve actually been pleased with a fashion product I’ve ordered off Amazon. On top of that, I feel like they’ve just gotten worse and worse in recent years.

Yeah. Feels like more and more I have less confidence in Amazon purchases. The amount of times I’ve gotten an item and it looks noticeably different from the picture or fits like dogshit is beyond me. The fact I have to spend money AND wait two days to find out is making me question the actual convenience of Amazon all together.
I only buy brands like champion or carhartt from them.
finding good clothing on amazon is so hard especially when you dont have a unique term that isnt taken over by chinese brands or a specific brand on amazon already to look up
i got my rothco bomber from amazon and the legit Fenty collaboration but the good fashion purchases ive made on amazon are always from the actual brand with reviews photo attached.
I laughed so much. I never had a stomach ache from laughing by watching a fashion video.
I bought a pair of 'tech wear' joggers on Amazon and apart from being a little thin, they are really nice
I've not had much luck with buying clothes online period, whether from Amazon or directly from the brand. I almost always end up returning online shoe and clothing purchases because they fit poorly or don't meet my expectations in terms of quality or color. Maybe it's just too easy to build high expectations when you can't actually try on that jacket or shirt.
Good point, retailers will do everything they can to make clothes look good and often reality can be... disappointing

Even Amazon themselves have gotten in trouble for knocking off products that were doing well on their site/just popular in general. Now they just let these generic pieces run rampant because they still make money and can't get in as much trouble for letting someone else sell a knock-off of a popular product.

Bought some URBAN CLASSICS shirts back in the day on amazon and gotta say - got what I ordered. Also recently needed black cheap cargo pants for work and found it on for 25£. While pants were more baggy than in pictures and long for my size, quality itself is quite good. Quite thicj and sturdy.
I will say some of the Amazon essential stuff really is some decent quality stuff, I bought a Amazon essentials hoodie a few months ago and it felt really nice, really soft and honestly idk if this is a stretch but I could easily compare it to the comfort of a hoodie from Holister.

One thing that Amazon does surprisingly well is skirts. There are these pleated midi skirts I buy, they’re in pretty much every color, the quality is okay and the price is cheap
Deployed and Amazon somehow delivered. Literally being able to get things like coffee, LiquidIV, a onesie for the coldest of nights, curtains, knockoff OCP goods and pouches, ETC. It comes in clutch when you want things fast in more remote locations. Amazon is definitely a staple due to its 2-button ordering to remote locations and having the package tracked and I can be assured it is going to arrive sometime within the said timeframe or my money back.

I've actually had pretty good luck with Amazon shopping. However I feel guilty buying products not made or sold by my own countrymen here in America. It's not that I hate other countries or cultures, but I want the economy of my own country to flourish for the benefit of the workers. Unfortunately, Amazon makes things so easy and cheap, my morals are often compromised. I wish there was a way to foster more domestic trade on Amazon without too much of an impact on price.

Exactly my experience as well. Seems to work for basics: underwear, socks, belts etc.. if you're careful on reviews.

Bro, you need to do your research. You shop by the type of fabric you desire like wool, cotton, fleece, etc and then enter bomber jacket. Or you do research on the brand you like and then enter bomber jacket. You can't just enter bomber jacket and buy off pictures. Shop by brand and fabric type and you will do much better.

I was a bit dubious at the thought of buying Amazon clothes but finances got rough so I decided to give it a try. I have had luck because I actually like a lot of things I’ve gotten. Of course they’re not going to be the greatest quality but if you are going for a certain look and you read reviews with pictures, u can find some kool things.
they sell a lot of the same stuff thats on aliexpress but for twice the price. oh, maybe the cost covers the faster shipping you get with amazon - not always so. for a lot of these chinese factories, the long shipping times are the same across both sites.
I bought a pair of the mr.lin pants and they r super comfy but worried on grabbing another pair but all in blk but worried if it's to warm for this weather atm. What would u recommend that would break the bank. Mind u I'm bigger guy
Apparently if an Amazon listing exists for something you are selling, you can leach off of that listing and they get all your reviews. This causes a lot of knockoff sellers to latch on to existing listings and that (possibly) legit listing gets a bunch of bad reviews from people who bought the knockoff listing. Obviously there are a bunch of fake sellers on there as well, and there's no quality assurance. Amazon sucks on so many levels, I can't believe people who have a choice actually buy clothing there.
If this gets enough attention you should do a full head to toe amazon techwear fit, though I guess it would end up just being dropshipping 2.0 lol
The only thing I like about buying clothes from Amazon is the wardrobe program thing where you can try it out for a few days without paying and if you don’t like it they come pick it back up for no cost

On amazon it always seems like my size is out of stock or it costs more then the other sizes and not a prime item so will take longer for it to come.

Easily apparently, came with one leg hole bigger than the other and a wonky bottom bit turning it into a "garotte for your doodads". The thing about Amazon is that if you have Prime and you make sure you're buying Prime items, if it sucks, you have the reassurance of returns. You don't get that with Etsy and Mercari sellers, for good reason, but it's still a nice reassurance, especially if you're buying something out of your comfort zone or you aren't sure about.

I sell on Etsy, and nowadays have to say "buyer beware". Since Amazon kicked off a ton of Chinese sellers for gaming the review system, they moved over to Etsy, so there's now a ton of factory made clothing masquerading as handmade. Unfortunately Etsy is doing sod all about it, even when we report the shops with loads of evidence. There was a report on Watchdog (BBC consumer show) recently about it- that's how bad it's got. It's burying all the legit designers.
I've heard about that, really sucks that even a platform like Etsy it can be hard to tell what's actually handmade
@@ThisIsAntwon My tips are check their social media to see if they post pics of them actually making stuff, and also ask of they do custom work (such as made to measure). Drop shippers can't do that. It's not 100% foolproof (some can be really crafty sods) but it does help.
I have only bought a couple of amazon essentials as well as some wrangler/brandit pieces on Amazon. Actually i highly rate it, but there's a lot of shit to go through.

I ordered a short sleeve organic cotton Arc'teryx shirt off Amazon and the seller sent me some crazy polyester shirt with the Arc'teryx logo printed into the fabric, it was crazy - I submitted a complaint to Amazon, and the seller sent me another fake shirt lol

The only clothing I've bought with zero regrets from bezos co is underwear, and even that took a few tries. Everything else is absolute dog meat to look for/sort through to find my size.
Amazon is fun for getting cheap lingerie for your significant other... the quality is not always amazing but you can get a pile of items that are fun to wear for practically nothing.
I got the Fabric of the Universe socks on there and they do not fit over my muscular calves. You have to be a kid with chicken legs to wear them.

I've not purchased there myself but I don't think it's worth using, I expect product quality to be extremely low and there are ethical concerns about their business model (basically fast fashion on steriods)
