I learned about Dr. Heiser in recent months. What a blessing his teachings continue to be. Thank you for uploading Michael's teachings to spread the gospel throughout the world.
I wish I had the opportunity to get to know Michael personally, but these videos have been invaluable to helping me in my walk with God through Jesus Christ, and I have no doubt he's with our Lord right now and forever. 🙏
Just because somebody teaches it doesn't make them a teacher. Sometimes you have to take the scriptures in totality. Use the entire book, not just one or two scriptures. Not trying to say anything bad about this man, I'm just saying. Remember Jesus said Lord your word burns in me like a fire? Remember when God said to Abraham that his descendants would be as the sand that is on the seashore for number? Rev 4:6 And before the throne there was a sea of glass like unto crystal: and in the midst of the throne, and round about the throne, were four beasts full of eyes before and behind. 1Co 3:13 Every man's work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire; and the fire shall try every man's work of what sort it is. 1Co 3:15 If any man's work shall be burned, he shall suffer loss: but he himself shall be saved; yet so as by fire. Gen 22:17 That in blessing I will bless thee, and in multiplying I will multiply thy seed as the stars of the heaven, and as the sand which is upon the sea shore; and thy seed shall possess the gate of his enemies; What does sand and fire create? Thank you for uploading Dr. Heiser’s teachings. I have read his books and listened to most of his videos already, but I love listening to him again and again. He had so much wisdom and knowledge to share that I would never have otherwise learned.

Is he the one that opens the book and looks into it? Rev 5. If not, he is only Ezekiel 34, unable to communicate the whole truth he does not know (which has been sealed).

Incredibly interesting and the language of Enoch is certainly helpful to understand the terminology of the time yet important to remember Enoch is not considered inspired.
The lake of fire is the final destruction of all things physical. The incorrigible wicked or unrepentant will be cast there. The rebellious spirits cast there. The heaves and earth are converted to pristine and permanent structure. God's throne and HQ is established on the new earth and His people dwell with Him into eternity.
Eternal Death is not annihilation….it is forever agony/gnashing of teeth/brimstone and fire/separation from God/torture from demons/etc…. The Lake of Fire is the final destination of those who reject Christ. This is a state of complete separation from God, never-ending and inescapable. The lake of fire will be a place of perpetual suffering and misery.
The wages of sin is death. Not eternal anguish. Satan destiny is ambiguous. Can God destroy him? Yes, but does He? Revelation 20:10 has some ambiguity in, some added text. The beast and false prophet were cast is a better rendering.

Hell is meant to be eternal punishment for sinners/sin so by their logic Jesus went to Hell and is still there as he took that punishment. Eternal is eternal not 3 days. Immortality is a gift to the obedient not the wicked.
@@Bishbash101 this is why it’s so important to recognize that Jesus the Christ was both fully God and fully man. He must be fully man in order to be our representative. It was man who sinned, it must be man to pay the price of that sin, by experiencing the essence of Hell. But He had to be fully God because only one who is fully divine and therefore having infinite value could pay an infinite price in a limited/finite amount of time. That is why Jesus is not “still in Hell.” He took an infinite punishment upon Himself, which He was able to do because His infinite nature was able to do so, in the three hours that darkness reigned as He hung on the cross. That’s why He said “it is finished” before giving up His spirit. Because the price had been paid in full. And only an infinite sacrifice could pay that infinite price.
God doesn't cast the devil into the lake of fire until he is done using him to tempt people. That's why he turns him loose again out of the bottomless pit to tempt those who haven't been. God cannot be tempted nor can He tempt any man. To get rid of sin people and angles are sorted out, those who choose sin and those who choose God, (Jesus to mankind.) The second death is death not life in agony. Can you imagine God as the proprietor of a torture chamber that lasts forever? He is a loving God, He is not like the devil. Evil is destroyed forever.
It’s great to hear the valuable information in Enoch II , but it surely does not sound like the same voice that speaks out of the Canonized “Old Testament”

I also get the sense from scripture that Hades/Tartarus is not the lake of fire. These are holding places for souls until the final judgement. Therefore, Lazerus and the rich man only proves that's where souls are now. Not the eternal destination. Otherwise, who would the rich man be warning back on earth? The lake of fire is after the 2nd resurrection. Everyone will be standing on the earth before the throne for the final judgement.
How does a science book or local news inform you without being doctrinally correct? Widen the gaze a bit here, it’s important to know the context, the full context, of to whom it was written, when, what was popular, and what the majority of the population would’ve been familiar with. All of the aforementioned are true context, in its entirety.
@christiandelpino545 they (science book or local news) inform me both correctly and incorrectly, in other words, it informs me with misinformation and hopefully some true information. The news does not have to be correct nor does a science book. The scripture does have to be correct. It cannot tell any lies or half truths. So my question is how can biblical writers refer to something - quoting it in fact - taking information from it - thereby validating at least the statements they are quoting if it isn't scripture ? They can't possibly know what they are quoting is true. Unless we have a pretty weird view of Revelation we would have no way of knowing that what is being quoted from an outside source is correct unless it is scripture . I'm not so sure I agree with the church father who wanted the book to be canonical but submitted to the larger church assuming they would get it right. Maybe they got it wrong. Maybe first Enoch should have been canon

Jude 1:14 5 other quotes from Enoch in the NT. Enoch found in Qumram scrolls. My answer to your question does have plenty of detractors, although existence in the qumram Scrolls is not disputed.
Enoch 1 is the only useful one for informing intertestamental lore/theology, because it's the only one that's intertestamental. The rest are riding Enoch 1's coat tails and we're written, apparently, by gnostic heretics.

If you just look up Enoch book 1 there's only 1 Enoch book 1, but I'm sure lots of different published versions, because no one owns the copyright. You could probably get a basic version for free on kindle. Better resources designed for scholarly research tend to be more expensive.
One thing I've never heard anyone teach on, ever tho he read the scripture, is that hell and the lake of fire are two different places. Hell is the waiting room for those without Jesus, that are waiting for the end of age, and there judgment. Then, that's when Revelation said that hell will be cast into the lake of fire. And like us, there bodies will also be renewed so that they can feel, physically, that pain of the lake of fire.
What mandate? Who's 'they'? Lucifer led the rebellion. I think common sense dictates he'd be the first. Exercise it. Seven is the sign of completion, such their collective fate is sealed. No hope. But God waits for us because He is our Loving Father, in Whom is no shadow of turning. Hallelujah.
I thank God for these recordings of Dr. Heiser. It would be good if there was a body of what I'll call "Heiserite Scholars" out there seeing how Michael has finished his work on earth because I have questions. Mainly, are we all reading the accounts of the enemy(enemies) incorrectly? Am I the only one who sees 2 enemies? The serpent in Genesis was cast to the earth at the time man was cast from the garden, the dragon is cast from heaven at the time Jesus rejoined the Father (rev 12). The serpent wanted "man" to becomes his own god. The "devil" seeks to be worshipped as a god (Matt 4:9). The spirit of Babel is the same as in the garden, make a name for ourselves and in Revelation 17 & 18. But the adversary in Job is still in heaven and is there to accuse man and prove him not worthy. It fits with there being 2 cherubim on the Ark of the Covenant shielding God's presence from man and the cherubim placed to the east of Eden to shield it from man. But the main thing on this thought is in Revelation 17 and 18. This woman is in control of the chaos system, the beast. The dragon is in the abyss at the time. When the dragon ascends the 10 kings burn this "Babylon" with fire. I have come to see the serpent from the garden as Lucifer/Ishtar/the goddess who wants man to be his own god, and the Satan as the devil/dragon/ adversary who attempts to subvert man's worship to himself.
Thanks. Good talk. I still don't know what we have to do with the Watchers? What do we have to do with Angels and fallen Angels. We have been subjected to that pre history. Why? And it is presented as before us. And there is nothing we can do about it. Why would a good God allow all of that evil to take place? And then subject Billions of humans and little children to that kind of evil? It all sounds completely out of control.

Who would the devil have murdered before their were human beings? Nobody was mortal before Adam sinned. The devil convinced Cain to murder Abel at the beginning.
Perhaps, but humanity was not corrupt from the beginning. The bible opens with the liar & murderer corrupting God's second family, humankind...two realms colliding, and God proclaiming the eternal condemnation of one, and the personal redemption of the other.
I don't think there is enough recognition that "darkness was over the face/surface of the deep". If, as John says, "God is light and there is no darkness in him", then creation was made outside of God - which is why God had to come forth, "Let there be light". I say come forth because Paul tells us that the light shines out of the darkness, not into the darkness. So what is this darkness, and what is it doing there at the selvedge of creation? Is it in a struggle with the Spirit who "was over the face/surface of the waters"?
So, was it original with the author of Enoch, or are there other antecedents. Volcanic caldera are hellish, but where in the near east would someone from one of those cultures seen such.
I believe, "forever" comes from "aeon" which means "age". I do not see where we are burdened with eternity as in the previous earth age we are told little. Likewise we are told even less concerning God's plan for the age or ages (forever and ever) to come. If age times are Scriptural, and they seem to be, then Biblically, The Lords is revealing his plan for the ages with the primary focus on this present earth age. So when we see contradictory meanings with these words, it is our lack of understanding not not a contradiction. Scripture simply does not talk about Eternity in the way we think about it. So an age is simply that, one segment. One age out of however many there have been or are yet to come.

What does he mean " the idea floating around in Matthew's head? (see 2:12). These are the words of Jesus being recorded by Matthew the scribe, not the product of something floating around in Matthew's head! You either believe that or attribute it to Matthew./his worldview. This how higher criticism is being subtly introduced under the guise of scholarship, with the appearance of faith and accuracy. Nothing is what it is, nothing is inspired, it's all the product of the cultural, social, religious beliefs and milieu of the day! Hasn't anyone else spotted this?
The fire prepared for the devil and his angels mentioned by Jesus in Matt. 25 does not come from the pseudo-book of Enoch, but from Isaiah 30:33. "For Topheth has long been ready, Indeed, it has been prepared for the king. He has made it deep and large, A pyre of fire with plenty of wood; The breath of the LORD, like a torrent of brimstone, sets it afire. (NASB). Jesus interpreted this verse in such a way that the "king" mentioned is Satan. "Tophet" (which literally means a place of burning - cf. the ESV) was located in the place called "The Valley of the son of Hinnom" (Jer. 7:31-34), where the Jews sacrificed their children in fire to the pagan gods. This was latter shortened when transliterated into Greek as "ge-henna," and is the Greek word Jesus used throughout the Gospels which is wrongly translated "hell" in our English translations. There is no question that when Jesus spoke of the fire of ge-henna (cf. Mk. 9:43-48) that He had exactly the same place in mind as in Matt. 25 which refers to the eternal or permanent fire. There is no need to look elsewhere for a precedent for Jesus' statement, such as the Book of Enoch which teaches many fables that are clearly false. When Jesus used this term "ge-henna" in Mk. 9, he quoted directly from Isa. 66:24 which reads: "Then they shall go forth and look on the corpses of the men Who have transgressed against Me. For their worm shall not die, and their fire shall not be quenched; and they shall be an abhorrence to all mankind." (NASB). Dr. Heiser likes to dabble in the spooky realm, and here attempts to give validity to the Book of Enoch which contains Jewish interpretations and fables, not divine revelation.
idk Michael. You say towards the end of this that 'anyone', any human who rejects Christ in this life - will share the same fate as the 'angels' that sinned, i.e., doomed to eternity in the lake of fire along with the devil and his angels. I say idk about that bc earlier as you read from Enoch 10, I heard the word "collaborators", which to me speaks of those humans who aided, partictipated with or collaborated with and in league with the fallen ones. Rejecting Christ or not being saved, to me, does not equate with that person being a collaborator - as stated by Enoch. Revelation says the lake of fire was prepared for the devils and the false prophet and false teachers who end up there were guilty by association. Those were def collaborating with the fallen ones and logically could share their fate - but to say that ordinary humans who have not covenented with the Lord? I don't see how they could be included with those collaborators who Rev says were thrown in the lake along with the devils.....if indeed the lake of fire was created for the devil and his angels should technically not even include false prophets or teachers, though i can see how they would share the devils fate, but again, to say all non-believers share that fate is just incorrect, or so it seems to me. Enoch saw 'collaborators'. He didn't say he saw everyone who rejected Jesus.

70 generations X 35 years = 2,450 years. Noah's flood was 2,350 BC and this is happening just before then. It would take final judgement of the watchers to 100 AD approximately
The people in the right hand of God were working with God and he approved… Therefore, the people on the left-hand of God were the ones who tried to do it on their own like Lucifer thought they could be smarter and better than God.
The right hand of God is the light that constructs a man rightly. That light is the image of God, Christ, the Word. The left hand of God is the darkness (light that is not the image of God) that destructs a man into corruption. You choose. "I am the Lord that does these things." Isaiah 45:7. Nobody has chosen wisely: {5:6} Therefore have we erred from the way of truth, and the light of righteousness hath not shined unto us, and the sun of righteousness rose not upon us. {5:7} We wearied ourselves in the way of wickedness and destruction: yea, we have gone through deserts, where there lay no way: but as for the way of the Lord, we have not known it.
The flames of Hell are deep Blue. Hell seems rather dark, and full of mad suffering souls. Sulfur burns Blue. Interesting since flaming Sulfur Balls rained down on several cities. Imagine blue glowing Eyeballs raining down on the cities with bright red flames all around. "I am jealous and Vengeful God." Take that as warning of what you worship.
The authors were inspired and told what to write as well by God. It doesn’t have to always be that an author thought.. And asked God. God just said write it as well. ?
so if there’s already been a war in heaven, if there was free will that caused pride and fall how can it be perfect? How can there be no sorrow no anger and grief?
Because Jesus, our Messiah has made propitiation for us and has become our High Priest and mediator. The old law has finally been fulfilled, "For He (God our Father) hath made him (Jesus) to be sin for us (taking our punishment upon himself) who knew no sin (Jesus is holy and a perfect sacrifice) that we might be made the righteousness of God in him." 2 Corinthians 5:21. There are passages that explain how the devil was thrown out of heaven, having led rebellion. Jesus said that he saw Satan fall from heaven like lightning, that is, Satan is powerful adversary who first hated God and now, we in His image and likeness, are essentially held hostage, some succumbing to Stockholm syndrome, essentially. Put your faith in God. This is the best thing you can do, not just for yourself, but, perhaps most significantly, for those you love and those that will be eternally grateful for your witness to the Truth. This is the answer to the problem of evil. Don't delay. Put your faith in God, heart and soul. 100%. Give it EVERYTHING because the devil wants to sift your soul and lay you and all yours to waste and vanity, stealing your inheritance and blinding the world to rape and kill it. God is here to restore us. Don't settle for worldly delusions. Get right with God, now. Amen.

The lake of fire is massive levels of chronic inflammation within corrupted flesh. Misunderstood darkness on the flesh is the cause. Misunderstood light on the flesh is the cure, and the cause of righteousness reaped. Psalm 97:11 nasb.

We could say Peter or James took inspiration from books like Enoch to understand what this awful place is about. However when Jesus talked about hell, surely he didn't get his inspiration from Enoch.
The Lord giveth and the Lord taketh away. Heisers big contribution was the divine council and tieing Babel in with the fall and gen 5 rebellion. His stated position on our conclusions on eschatology was important too as no one highlighted the missing links in eschatological positions like he could. Beyond that he attached too much importance to extrabiblical writings which is destructive.
On 10.31.18 God moved the clouds and formed intricate scenes and pictures. He showed a plane with 2 bears heads on the side ( one looking at me. The other looking west) The plane crashed between Mt. St. Helens and Rainier. There was a mushroom cloud explosion. Lava started flowing. Then both exploded and formed The Lake of Fire. He showed Satan dropped in to the Lake. Later He showed someone in a boat leaving a bomb in the water ( by the Statue of Liberty) He showed a wave coming up and over the statue. Los Angeles will have a “Reef Slip” and be swallowed up. America is running out of time. If you don’t know Jesus. Please Repent. He died so you don’t have to go to hell. Eternity is Forever. Our Sesame Street brains can’t fathom forever. I am always hesitant to subscribe to the notion that the Apostles were "clearly" influenced by other writers, particularly when it comes to apocryphal or pseudepigraphal writings (Jude notwithstanding). For example, many like to characterize some of John's prophecies recorded in Revelation as him in effect leveraging or being influenced by other prophetic writings such as Daniel's. If we truly believe "all scripture is God breathed" per Paul's declaration to Timothy, then why isn't the logical explanation that the Holy Spirit was the source of his prophetic writings? Wouldn't the "Comforter/Helper" be consistent in revealing that which was to come, irrespective of the writer or the time period in which he was writing? Further, John, like Peter, spent roughly three years with Jesus. John tells us in his gospel that there were "many more things that Jesus did..." Is it not reasonable to presume there were also many more things the Lord said that aren't recorded in John's and the other Apostles' writings? My point is Dr. Heiser's repeated assertions that, "clearly," the book of Enoch served as a source of inspiration for some of Peter's writings while admittedly not an uncommon assertion remains conjecture. Might Peter have had knowledge of such writings? Perhaps. Did Peter leverage those writings to inform his own? Personally, I prefer to believe he was divinely inspired.
Revelation 20 explains the Lake O fire very well. You can see the fate of the sinners, the Dragon the Beast and the False Prophet in verse 9 "fire came down from God out of heaven and devoured them". That is the lake of fire so much fire comes down it creates a lake of fire just like Sodom. Then Christ will create a new heaven and a new earth while we are in the city of God. Then we will inherit the new earth. 5 But the rest of the dead lived not again until the thousand years were finished. This is the first resurrection. 6 Blessed and holy is he that hath part in the first resurrection: on such the second death hath no power, but they shall be priests of God and of Christ, and shall reign with him a thousand years. 7 And when the thousand years are expired, Satan shall be loosed out of his prison, 8 And shall go out to deceive the nations which are in the four quarters of the earth, Gog and Magog, to gather them together to battle: the number of whom is as the sand of the sea. 9 And they went up on the breadth of the earth, and compassed the camp of the saints about, and the beloved city: and fire came down from God out of heaven, and devoured them.
The Devil and his angels were the rebellious religious apostate system (sanhedrin etc) that led the rebellion against the rightful King and Messiah and killed Him. See the parable of the wicked caretakers of the vineyard in Mathew 23. The table of the Passover became a snare to the apostate persecutors and murderers of Jesus followers as they pilgrimaged for the festival. The wicked gathered into now named Mystery Babylon the place where the Lord was slain. Once Jerusalem until they broke the covenant with murderous blood shedding of the true followers. The believers hearing the Words of Jesus to flee Jerusalem as they witnessed certain events/signs escaped what eventually came under judgment metaphorically speaking a Lake of Fire.
There's no "immortal soul". That came from Plato who got it from Egyptian mystics. The belief of the ancient Hebrews and early Christians was that dead is dead, until the resurrection at the last day of the age/Day of Judgement. The righteous rise to eternal life, because they are transformed into celestial/spiritual beings similar to angels, and cannot die. The wicked rise to judgement and perish in the *metaphorical* "unquenchable fire" of God's wrath. As for the "lake of fire which burns with brimstone" that should be "pool of fire". It's an ancient gold refinery: you melt the ore, throw in sulfur, which flashes and smokes as it bonds with the impurities; leaving only gold. The visual metaphor is of a fire that destroys impurities.This ties in to the judgement of the city "Babylon" , of which it is said "the smoke of her torment (actually *testing* ) ascends up forever". Meaning: she's so impure that you could add sulfur indefinitely and get nothing but smoke--and never any gold. That seems to be the fate of those cast into this "lake of fire" ; those who are "pure" through Christ's redemptive work are "found written in the book of Life". Those who aren't written there are simply impure, and "refined" or "tested" to destruction.
From our perspective of earth, we look up to eternal Heaven, the Holy Kingdom, or, we look down to eternal damnation devoid of the Holy spirit, completely without God in Hell fire. We have to choose which one we will decide to spend eternity in. The classic devil on one shoulder whispering dark "rewards" and boundless perverse sex, murder, theft, lies, etc. On the other shoulder an angel encouraging us to remain clean, refrain from darkness, choose only rightious, holy things. Here. we find ourselves in between the two ~ Heaven or Hell. Jack ~'()'~
I believe Enoch and other books Referred to in The Word, were Left out Purposely. Translators flipped out and were going to Delete the Song of Solomon, because of the So Called Promiscuous Wording. 🤦♀️Bad Enough they thoroughly screwed up the rest of the whole Translations.
He makes the error if thinking the NT got thus from the book if enoch. He ignores the possibility that both the book of Enoch and NT get this from a common source, such as an oral source or unknown book. The OT names multiple books no longer available. Heiser displays a common assumption that the Bible derives from non canonical writings ignoring a common descent that branched off long before. Heiser is not a clear thinker, though he may seem like it to you. I was forced as a very young child to think very clearly on pain of being forcibly removed from my family by a communist Government.
We are eternal beings . God spoke eternity into us when He Created. Him being eternal and everywhere and Holy . His eternal attributes are what bless and punish forever. Thats how i see it. The lost will be forever repelled by a Holy God who made them forever. We are either one with God or rebelled by God , forever.

It is literal. Hebrews talks about the doctrine of eternal damnation. Hell is temporary. The lake of fire is permanent. My brother rejected salvation, as did my paternal grandmother so I would love to be wrong but the Word of God is our final authority. Jesus told us to accept Him to avoid eternal judgement.

Descriptions of Hell.. Gehenna. Hades. Furnace of fire. Lake of fire. Eternal torment. Self-exclusion from God. A place where the worm does not die, Dante's inferno.
Hades =/= gehenna. Conceptually the NT references to Hades are interchangeable with the Hebrew "Sheole". It's more if a place where souls wait for judgment. Gehenna is the valley of hinom where Israel killed their own children, the trash pit of human sacrifice God detested. This becomes a symbol of God's eternal retaliation against evil. He ironically appropriates this imagery to describe his final judgment against the wicked. The imagery in its final form is The Lake of Fire in Revelation. It's not a waiting room but the second death from which there is no return. We know it's not Hades (hell) because in Revelation it says that death and hell will be thrown INTO the lake of fire. The one eventually subsumes the other in an eschatologically ultimate sense.

I got a vision of the lake of fire. There was this portal up high and many were being cartwheeled out of it into the lake. I heard them yell and scream as they were falling all the way down. What? The Book of Enoch is irrelevant, Enoch is not the writer of the “Book of Enoch.” This is an uninspired, apocryphal book written many centuries later, probably sometime during the second and first centuries B.C.E.

It's dangerous to equate the Book of Enoch with any book in the Bible.
Incredibly interesting and the language of Enoch is certainly helpful to understand the terminology of the time yet important to remember Enoch is not considered inspired.
The lake of fire is the final destruction of all things physical. The incorrigible wicked or unrepentant will be cast there. The rebellious spirits cast there. The heaves and earth are converted to pristine and permanent structure. God's throne and HQ is established on the new earth and His people dwell with Him into eternity.
Eternal Death is not annihilation….it is forever agony/gnashing of teeth/brimstone and fire/separation from God/torture from demons/etc….
The Lake of Fire is the final destination of those who reject Christ. This is a state of complete separation from God, never-ending and inescapable.
The lake of fire will be a place of perpetual suffering and misery.
The wages of sin is death. Not eternal anguish. Satan destiny is ambiguous. Can God destroy him? Yes, but does He? Revelation 20:10 has some ambiguity in, some added text. The beast and false prophet were cast is a better rendering.

Hell is meant to be eternal punishment for sinners/sin so by their logic Jesus went to Hell and is still there as he took that punishment. Eternal is eternal not 3 days. @@Bishbash101 this is why it’s so important to recognize that Jesus the Christ was both fully God and fully man. He must be fully man in order to be our representative. It was man who sinned, it must be man to pay the price of that sin, by experiencing the essence of Hell. But He had to be fully God because only one who is fully divine and therefore having infinite value could pay an infinite price in a limited/finite amount of time. That is why Jesus is not “still in Hell.” He took an infinite punishment upon Himself, which He was able to do because His infinite nature was able to do so, in the three hours that darkness reigned as He hung on the cross. That’s why He said “it is finished” before giving up His spirit. Because the price had been paid in full. And only an infinite sacrifice could pay that infinite price.
God doesn't cast the devil into the lake of fire until he is done using him to tempt people. That's why he turns him loose again out of the bottomless pit to tempt those who haven't been. God cannot be tempted nor can He tempt any man. To get rid of sin people and angles are sorted out, those who choose sin and those who choose God, (Jesus to mankind.) The second death is death not life in agony. Can you imagine God as the proprietor of a torture chamber that lasts forever? He is a loving God, He is not like the devil. Evil is destroyed forever.

I also get the sense from scripture that Hades/Tartarus is not the lake of fire. These are holding places for souls until the final judgement. Therefore, Lazerus and the rich man only proves that's where souls are now. Not the eternal destination. Otherwise, who would the rich man be warning back on earth? The lake of fire is after the 2nd resurrection. Everyone will be standing on the earth before the throne for the final judgement.

Widen the gaze a bit here, it’s important to know the context, the full context, of to whom it was written, when, what was popular, and what the majority of the population would’ve been familiar with. The scripture does have to be correct. It cannot tell any lies or half truths. So my question is how can biblical writers refer to something - quoting it in fact - taking information from it - thereby validating at least the statements they are quoting if it isn't scripture ? Unless we have a pretty weird view of Revelation we would have no way of knowing that what is being quoted from an outside source is correct unless it is scripture . One thing I've never heard anyone teach on, ever tho he read the scripture, is that hell and the lake of fire are two different places. Hell is the waiting room for those without Jesus, that are waiting for the end of age, and there judgment. Then, that's when Revelation said that hell will be cast into the lake of fire. And like us, there bodies will also be renewed so that they can feel, physically, that pain of the lake of fire.

What mandate? Who's 'they'? Lucifer led the rebellion. I think common sense dictates he'd be the first. Exercise it. Seven is the sign of completion, such their collective fate is sealed. No hope. But God waits for us because He is our Loving Father, in Whom is no shadow of turning. Hallelujah.

I thank God for these recordings of Dr. Heiser. It would be good if there was a body of what I'll call "Heiserite Scholars" out there seeing how Michael has finished his work on earth because I have questions. Mainly, are we all reading the accounts of the enemy(enemies) incorrectly? Am I the only one who sees 2 enemies? The serpent in Genesis was cast to the earth at the time man was cast from the garden, the dragon is cast from heaven at the time Jesus rejoined the Father (rev 12). The serpent wanted "man" to becomes his own god. The "devil" seeks to be worshipped as a god (Matt 4:9). The spirit of Babel is the same as in the garden, make a name for ourselves and in Revelation 17 & 18. But the adversary in Job is still in heaven and is there to accuse man and prove him not worthy. It fits with there being 2 cherubim on the Ark of the Covenant shielding God's presence from man and the cherubim placed to the east of Eden to shield it from man. But the main thing on this thought is in Revelation 17 and 18. This woman is in control of the chaos system, the beast. The dragon is in the abyss at the time. When the dragon ascends the 10 kings burn this "Babylon" with fire. I have come to see the serpent from the garden as Lucifer/Ishtar/the goddess who wants man to be his own god, and the Satan as the devil/dragon/ adversary who attempts to subvert man's worship to himself.

I don't think there is enough recognition that "darkness was over the face/surface of the deep". If, as John says, "God is light and there is no darkness in him", then creation was made outside of God - which is why God had to come forth, "Let there be light". I say come forth because Paul tells us that the light shines out of the darkness, not into the darkness.

I believe, "forever" comes from "aeon" which means "age". I do not see where we are burdened with eternity as in the previous earth age we are told little. Likewise we are told even less concerning God's plan for the age or ages (forever and ever) to come.
If age times are Scriptural, and they seem to be, then Biblically, The Lords is revealing his plan for the ages with the primary focus on this present earth age.
So when we see contradictory meanings with these words, it is our lack of understanding not not a contradiction. Scripture simply does not talk about Eternity in the way we think about it. So an age is simply that, one segment. One age out of however many there have been or are yet to come.

Jesus interpreted this verse in such a way that the "king" mentioned is Satan. "Tophet" (which literally means a place of burning - cf. the ESV) was located in the place called "The Valley of the son of Hinnom" (Jer. 7:31-34), where the Jews sacrificed their children in fire to the pagan gods. This was latter shortened when transliterated into Greek as "ge-henna," and is the Greek word Jesus used throughout the Gospels which is wrongly translated "hell" in our English translations. There is no question that when Jesus spoke of the fire of ge-henna (cf. Mk. 9:43-48) that He had exactly the same place in mind as in Matt. 25 which refers to the eternal or permanent fire. I say idk about that bc earlier as you read from Enoch 10, I heard the word "collaborators", which to me speaks of those humans who aided, partictipated with or collaborated with and in league with the fallen ones.

We could say Peter or James took inspiration from books like Enoch to understand what this awful place is about. However when Jesus talked about hell, surely he didn't get his inspiration from Enoch.
The Lord giveth and the Lord taketh away. Heisers big contribution was the divine council and tieing Babel in with the fall and gen 5 rebellion. His stated position on our conclusions on eschatology was important too as no one highlighted the missing links in eschatological positions like he could. I am always hesitant to subscribe to the notion that the Apostles were "clearly" influenced by other writers, particularly when it comes to apocryphal or pseudepigraphal writings (Jude notwithstanding). For example, many like to characterize some of John's prophecies recorded in Revelation as him in effect leveraging or being influenced by other prophetic writings such as Daniel's. If we truly believe "all scripture is God breathed" per Paul's declaration to Timothy, then why isn't the logical explanation that the Holy Spirit was the source of his prophetic writings? Wouldn't the "Comforter/Helper" be consistent in revealing that which was to come, irrespective of the writer or the time period in which he was writing?
Further, John, like Peter, spent roughly three years with Jesus. John tells us in his gospel that there were "many more things that Jesus did..." Is it not reasonable to presume there were also many more things the Lord said that aren't recorded in John's and the other Apostles' writings?
My point is Dr. Heiser's repeated assertions that, "clearly," the book of Enoch served as a source of inspiration for some of Peter's writings while admittedly not an uncommon assertion remains conjecture. Might Peter have had knowledge of such writings? Perhaps. Did Peter leverage those writings to inform his own? Personally, I prefer to believe he was divinely inspired.
Why do you believe the two are mutually exclusive?
Revelation 20 explains the Lake O fire very well. You can see the fate of the sinners, the Dragon the Beast and the False Prophet in verse 9 "fire came down from God out of heaven and devoured them". That is the lake of fire so much fire comes down it creates a lake of fire just like Sodom. Then Christ will create a new heaven and a new earth while we are in the city of God. Then we will inherit the new earth.
5 But the rest of the dead lived not again until the thousand years were finished. This is the first resurrection.
6 Blessed and holy is he that hath part in the first resurrection: on such the second death hath no power, but they shall be priests of God and of Christ, and shall reign with him a thousand years.

The Devil and his angels were the rebellious religious apostate system (sanhedrin etc) that led the rebellion against the rightful King and Messiah and killed Him. See the parable of the wicked caretakers of the vineyard in Mathew 23. The table of the Passover became a snare to the apostate persecutors and murderers of Jesus followers as they pilgrimaged for the festival. The wicked gathered into now named Mystery Babylon the place where the Lord was slain. Once Jerusalem until they broke the covenant with murderous blood shedding of the true followers. The believers hearing the Words of Jesus to flee Jerusalem as they witnessed certain events/signs escaped what eventually came under judgment metaphorically speaking a Lake of Fire.
There's no "immortal soul". That came from Plato who got it from Egyptian mystics. The belief of the ancient Hebrews and early Christians was that dead is dead, until the resurrection at the last day of the age/Day of Judgement.
The righteous rise to eternal life, because they are transformed into celestial/spiritual beings similar to angels, and cannot die. The wicked rise to judgement and perish in the *metaphorical* "unquenchable fire" of God's wrath.
As for the "lake of fire which burns with brimstone" that should be "pool of fire". It's an ancient gold refinery: you melt the ore, throw in sulfur, which flashes and smokes as it bonds with the impurities; leaving only gold.
The visual metaphor is of a fire that destroys impurities.This ties in to the judgement of the city "Babylon" , of which it is said "the smoke of her torment (actually *testing* ) ascends up forever".
Meaning: she's so impure that you could add sulfur indefinitely and get nothing but smoke--and never any gold.
That seems to be the fate of those cast into this "lake of fire" ; those who are "pure" through Christ's redemptive work are "found written in the book of Life". Those who aren't written there are simply impure, and "refined" or "tested" to destruction.
From our perspective of earth, we look up to eternal Heaven, the Holy Kingdom, or, we look down to eternal damnation devoid of the Holy spirit, completely without God in Hell fire.
We have to choose which one we will decide to spend eternity in.

I believe Enoch and other books Referred to in The Word, were Left out Purposely. Translators flipped out and were going to Delete the Song of Solomon, because of the So Called Promiscuous Wording. 🤦♀️Bad Enough they thoroughly screwed up the rest of the whole Translations.

Hades =/= gehenna.
Conceptually the NT references to Hades are interchangeable with the Hebrew "Sheole". It's more if a place where souls wait for judgment.
Gehenna is the valley of hinom where Israel killed their own children, the trash pit of human sacrifice God detested.
This becomes a symbol of God's eternal retaliation against evil. He ironically appropriates this imagery to describe his final judgment against the wicked.
The imagery in its final form is The Lake of Fire in Revelation. It's not a waiting room but the second death from which there is no return.
We know it's not Hades (hell) because in Revelation it says that death and hell will be thrown INTO the lake of fire.
The one eventually subsumes the other in an eschatologically ultimate sense.

Simple Question. How do you determine something belongs in the Bible? Certainly anyone with any honest research understands that Enoch, Jubilees, and 2nd Edras and a few other Books like Tobit are Torah. If you believe the stupid Essences story about Qumran, you are in error.

I got a vision of the lake of fire. There was this portal up high and many were being cartwheeled out of it into the lake. I heard them yell and scream as they were falling all the way down. I also heard JESUS say, this is the place for the devil and his demons but you too can end up here by your own actions.

What? The Book of Enoch is irrelevant, Enoch is not the writer of the “Book of Enoch.” This is an uninspired, apocryphal book written many centuries later, probably sometime during the second and first centuries B.C.E.
