What I deduced from the Earth, Water, Air, and Fire is they were symbolic representation of reality. When examining what the symbology refers to then we see some fascinating things. Earth represents material/physical. Water refers to energy. Air refers to emotion, and fire, the desiring/profane mind. This links to the Seven Fold Constitution of Man. The 3 bodies not the Earth, Water, Air and Fire are described as Ethers. What struck me as I was studying this philosophy was how the thre others lined up with our general understanding of the Trinity, Divine Law, Love, and Mind. Father is the Divine Law Giver, the Son is Divine Love, and the Holy Spirit is the communicator/organiser. However, whilst the four bodies are ridiculed, it's incredible to me to realise how aligned this view is to modern scientific understanding. Material is the subatomic particles, water points to the energy that holds together and react to the material. Emotions move the energy, and the profane mind moves the emotions. Each 'body' influences and is influenced by the bodies above and below. When the higher bodies influence the lower bodies then we have order but when the lower bodies control, we get disorder. The means of submitting to Christ is submitting to the Divine mind, aligning to God's Will. So many people ridicule ancient texts without realising that a lot of ancient thinking and communicating was symbolic in nature. We have to be more aware of our own symbolic representations so we can see how cultures differ in ways insignificant to the underlying wisdom.

Heiser again interprets the Word of God through the lens of an outside world view. He consistently re-explains scripture by using outside materials, definitions and ideas. At his core Heiser does not believe scripture interprets scripture. That’s why he should not to be taken serious and never will be.

Did God actually put in His Word what He knew we needed both then AND now? Or was He shortsighted and didn't know that Christians nowadays wouldn't be up on ancient medical practices to the point that one could not even BEGIN to guess "testicle" from "covering"? Let's not look at this from a post-Enlightenment, modern, highly literate Western POV. The Bible was FROM God TO His people. Paul (Peter, John, etc) did not invent his books, God did. The Bible is exactly like the tablets of Commandments given to Moses. No one analyzes and says "Moses was just going on the understanding of his time. Lying back then ACTUALLY meant....". No, God knew that non-western or illiterate or folk who never heard of Hippocrates, much less how to translate Greek or latin or aramaic, through the ages, would need to know His commands and promises. We are overthinking this. The question isn't if covering means testacle. The question is why this passage is contentious enough to require this much time and effort? Why is this a touchy subject requiring an obscure, never heard of interpretation after almost 2k years?

You have to be VERY careful when reading the Bible through the lens of extra-biblical documents. You can’t assume they’re talking about the same thing or that the Biblical concept is derived from extra biblical sources. For example, you can’t justifiably read John’s use of logos in John 1:1 through the lens of Greek philosophers as the term was used in the LXX translation of Psalm 33:6 to describe creating creating the heavens like long before Philo and others Greek philosophers were born. Dr. Heiser also left out the concept of the genealogies as a “book of life” which recorded those who would have an inheritance. To be blotted out was to lose your inheritance and no longer be remembered by future generations. The whole reason behind the "levirate marriage" was to "raise the name of the dead" who had no offspring so that their lineage would continue in the book of life. (Deuteronomy 25:5-10; Ruth 4: 10)

Having lived it, demonic oppression is so that you do not live out the anointing on your life that God has given you. They want to prevent and distract you from being fully in Gods plan.

Has Heiser outlined a pretty neat method (albeit needless) to understand written materials? I believe he has. Well why would I call it needless, you might wonder. The authority of writings resides in the reader, and not at all in the writer. In other words, any great work of art has value for as long as someone appreciates it. Heiser’s deep dive into understanding the semantics of biblical image means little if his conclusions are stilted revisions. Whatever, Heiser’s scholarship uncovers (and it has uncovered a lot) must maintain the integrity of the whole original textual teaching. The idea of a second chance for evil must be found if the notions of salvation and forgiveness are part of the environment/culture that produced the literature. We can only read ideas into the text when those ideas complement the text.

As a Calvinist knowing that Dr. Heiser is not fond of the Reformed doctrine of predestination; it’s been interesting to listen to his gymnastics on this the entire way through.

Dr. Heiser's life work shows me that chasing after Gods heart is possible even for just a mere man. What a blessing he was and his faithful work is for all of us. His standard of education isnt intimidating to me, his sessions really make me feel like Gods heart is not out of our reach. So so good. All glory to our Heavenly Father what a good good Father

On the "mountains" in Enoch, isn't a mountain also used of a kingdom or the ruler of a kingdom? As in a prison for the sons of God who did evil with the kingdom they were assigned to (Deuteronomy 32 worldview). Using a mountain in the description of a divine rebel being would be associating them with the false god/rulers of the nations outside of God's holy ground (Israel). Just a random thought.
