Pickman is the perfect recreation of a Psychopath's mindset. Psychopaths are intelligent, methodical, eerily calm and sadistic. It's a mental condition for which there's no treatment. These people are often victims of women - mainly single mothers - who abused them emotionally and/or physically. The Psychopath will look for some sort of vengeance on that person so he targets people with specific characteristics, like Pickman does. For me personally, it's a fascinating character. The human mind is kind of my field of expertise.
dear nate, i love your videos and relaxing voice. i constantly watch your videos during work and try to find items and characters you mention. however, i really would love if you switch up your lingo. "murdered to death", "like ratings", "skyrim is really big" are all things that i understand. it would be awesome if you added some personal feel to your videos and jokes, or else it can feel like im just listening to skyrim wiki being read. will continue watching either way and always a fan, keep it up!
Honestly Pickman is crazy and well we’d probably call evil but I almost always let him go. He seems to kill raiders exclusively, and less raiders is good for the Commonwealth. While mad he’s a good mad, if that makes sense.
@@FerdinandFake I believe it. But Pickman is a nonessential NPC and based on his fighting abilities he seems to not have any high SPECIAL, so he’s fairly weak compared to the PC.
A bit more about the mine in number 2, "Dunwich" is itself a lovecraft reference. It was a town that unknowingly hosted two children of Yog-Sothoth, the father (parent? progenitor?) of Cthulhu. The two children, Wilbur Whateley and his twin, lived in isolation, though the brother "looked more like his father" in that he was a massive, but invisible, figure. This would connect well to the world-shaking footsteps (with no visible source) you indicated could be heard. Wilbur was also said to look beastly, similar to the subject of the Lovecraft Pickman's painting (his model), and sought a copy of the Necronomicon to bring his father to our world.
I used a duplicater and settlement object mod to make a shrine for him. Lit display case with his paintings on both sides, inside was his note and two Pickman's Blades.
You missed my favourite, though you never actually see this character. The mysterious "biker" spoken of by raiders, the first story of which you hear outside the hardware store near Diamond City.
Considering he’s truly crazy he’d fit on the list far better than the insufferable dumbass we call The Mechanist, she just didn’t see what was actually happening, it seems fairly unlikely a sane person would antagonise heavily armed people with “grenades” which are actually just rocks. The title doesn’t even exclude characters who don’t physically appear in the game.
I went to see Brother Simon... And well, the totally random Legendary Quantum Deathclaw that decided to pay a visit, wrecked Simon's shit, and killed the cult, before I put it down. That's what you get for being well-dressed, well-mannered, and unarmed. Once more a Gun Free Zone cost human lives.
For me it was a Brotherhood vertibird that decided to crash on Brother Thomas moments after I began speaking. For some reason he wasn’t in any shape to argue with anyone. The crash took out all but one of the Pillars. It was wonderful...
@@CentralNexusPrime In my game 1 Vertibird also appeared there. Unfortunately, the Brotherhood of Steel was hostile. The religious sect did not survive the struggle. (But neither is the Brotherhood of Steel.)
I find it funny in the cabbot mission when I turned Simon down, a vertibird crashed down killing his back-up, and the unfortunate citizens as soon as they turned hostile. Has something like that happened to anyone else? A strike of ironic luck maybe?
If you continue down the path in the Bedlam section, and jump into the water @ 11:37 you can find some offerings, particularly one super strong blade called Kverth’s Tooth
I hate UA-cam man, and my service provider. Im in 4g full bars and I can't even watch Nate's videos in 360p without restarting multiple times. But anyway keep it up man.
Simon/Matthews/Andrew/Thomas can also be replaced by one of his variously named clones if you kill him, which will allow a new dialogue prompt informing him of such.
i started a new game and i put a "fog crawler in the commonwealth "mod on and it spawned in and killed all the pillars of the community before i even got there just bodies everywhere so as a cannibal raider i couldn't waste all that meat
Another unique dialog option comes up with brother Thomas if you refuse to give up your possessions and kill them all. After doing that if you haven't done cabot house a similar set up reappears at the halfshell when you go to get Emogene. You confront the guy in charge with a similar name like Brother Andrews. He gives the same options, but you have new charisma option to get out saying something like "You know what I did to the last gang set up here, do you really want to stand in my way" and if your charisma is high enough you get in.
I wished there was more to Pickman. Like if he was a follower, he would be perfect for a evil playthough. He could tell you his backstory and why he does what he does. I always believe that when he was a kid, he loved art. But when his family was murdered by raiders, that when he started to use the blood to paint. As payback to every raider. And his quest could be asking you to hunt down the raiders who killed his family. Maybe one day a mod would be made. Also I would like to see how he will say to the other follows when you switch him in/out.
Firstly "Bedlam" is actually a word often used in place of either "anarchy" or "chaos". There is also a little trick with the last one on this list. Say for a moment that you kill the first one and then do the Cabot questline. The neccessary NPC will then spawn in. Kill that one and he will later be replaced by the third possible NPC after the site resets. Killing the previous leaders also yields some unique dialogue as you talk to the followers after the site resets.
If you kill the cult leader before you do the quest to find Emogine a new one takes his place. Pulling the same scam. You can then tell him what you did to the first guy and he immediately agrees to let her out. It's hilarious.
I wonder what happens if you go there straight from the start, agree to give him all your stuff (nothing) and then just start playing as a pillar of the community.
I love Pickman. When they introduced the Pickman paint job for weapons on armor on Creation Club I bought it and made a character named Chloe (using the Start Me Up mod, that changes your origin and rewrites most of the dialogue as possible, and when it's not... well, it gets funny. Like you constantly tell Codsworth you're not his owner ("Sounds like you have a major malfuction, robot" and "A robot waiter, ugh.") and he's still convinced you are, so it makes for hilarity as Codsworth would totally win for "Most insane" if it was canon. They did it that way because if they cut out all references to you being his 210+ year old owner, he'd have no dialogue at all) who is Pickman's illegitmate daughter (I RP that she knows, but chose not to tell him. She's a cannibal herself. Haha.) EDIT: OH DAMN. I had no idea that is where they got Pickman's name, never even heard of that Lovecraft story... Our Lord and Savior, Cthulhu would not approve.
I never looked at it as a stretch but I've always associated the mechanist as a reference to thief 2 the metal age big baddy Madras who made a legion of robots with the end goal of destroying all life and then ruling as a somewhat quasi divine being. The kinda similar names are the only real reach in my opinion.
Why am I thinking about the salesman from that one spongebob episode when they were seeking chocolate bars and he kept coming to the door when Nate spoke of Brother Simon😂😂
Yeah and Brother Simon comes back alive. I wiped them out the first time when I started out. And when I did the quest.... he was back, under a different name but is clearly a same person. There is also a unique dialogue of you wiped them out the first time.
Am I the only one that actually likes Pickman? He basically is just doing what everyone else does, hating and killing raiders, then he just turns them into "art". Weird yes, but I've seen some other weird things that are considered "art" made with all sorts of different mediums. At Least his pictures are more interesting then a banana duct taped to a canvas XD

Bunker hill for my play through is a frustrating story, I was talking to the mayor in the middle of dialogue to convince her to join the minute men when suddenly bunker hill was attacked by a small group of raiders interrupting the dialogue and I was never able to enter a dialogue tree with her again
I just got an ad right when you mentioned pikman's art may not be advertiser friendly lol
Hi nate so an unmarked location that I think you should cover in the next fallout edition of said series would be the floating shacks out past spectacle island. There is a salvage crew for a wrecked plane and much more. I just recently found out about this and have some 340 hours of game play, and just found out about these spots. Keep up the good work.
I was expecting to see Cricket on this list. The drugged(?) out weapons trader. Absolutely the best dialog with her.
Tinker Tom is off the rails too.
Your thumbnail is pretty cool!!! I myself actually use the alien blaster rifle mod and it’s amazingly good!! Keep up the good Videos!!
Honestly. These videos are good to listen too at the end of a night shift.
Tha AntAgonizer is Tonya Christoff (not a dude).
I thought I was the only person playing fallout 4 in 2020!!! Good shit Nate
The mechanists lair is in a pre war laboratory that also has exrays of a death claw
With the pillars of the community, that is to say brother Simon, if you have gone to them before the Cabot quest line and killed the leader you will get unique dialogue in freeing the Cabot girl.
I dunno if it was pointed out. Since this is an old video. But the bedlam is in the mine with all the ghouls when you turn the lights in you'll see flashes of prewar miners before they get ghoulfied by the deity. I've been playing fallout 4 recently. So been watching your stuff lol. Good work.
Cricket is pretty crazy but i dig the video nate
The craziest characters are easily synths. I mean, how can a machine believe it’s alive.
But you are one
Shadow79Wolf Well, what are you going to do? Turn me into Maxon?

oh my goddess its intriguing that you still can find so much how also?! and wow I missed you and I am sorry for never looking at your videos after a loong time anyway
14:24 That’s another disguise Deacon uses to spy on the Sole Survivor also Nate if you’re reading this what graphics mods do you use for these videos?
they make my game look like its being played on a potato
Uhh, The more I watch this video, the more I realize how insane all my characters, let’s see what war crimes I committed in my most recent play threw
Exicuting settlers for no reason
Kidnapping settlers (mostly ghouls) to force to fight in the ring agianst each other, deathclaws and killer robots
Committing genocide of Diamond city
Using raiders to take over the commonwealth
No warning on attack
Killing kids the second I see them
Those are just the ones that happen before breakfast
I never put ghouls in the ring. They look cool so I let them live.
Isn't everybody in the Commonwealth and the fallout world insane. Great video love your fallout videos
dear nate, i love your videos and relaxing voice. i constantly watch your videos during work and try to find items and characters you mention. however, i really would love if you switch up your lingo.
Pretty sure the player kills more raiders on his first day than pickman ever will, dont judge.
@@FerdinandFake I believe it. But Pickman is a nonessential NPC and based on his fighting abilities he seems to not have any high SPECIAL, so he’s fairly weak compared to the PC.
*herself as the AntAgozier
Not himself. She is very much a female NPC in F03
I love her armour in Fallout 3.
@@0chiba I really wish you could recruit her as an ally.
@@marhawkman303 right? Why give us speech checks for a peaceful option to resolve the mess if we can't have either as a follower?
Pickman's 'thank you' note is my favorite displayed item at my base. :)
Too true, it's like putting up a sign saying "easy target"....
A strike of ironic luck maybe?
i’m doing this until you like it nate,
love your vids man, keep doing what you’re doing
If you continue down the path in the Bedlam section, and jump into the water @ 11:37 you can find some offerings, particularly one super strong blade called Kverth’s Tooth
I hate UA-cam man, and my service provider. Im in 4g full bars and I can't even watch Nate's videos in 360p without restarting multiple times. But anyway keep it up man.
Simon/Matthews/Andrew/Thomas can also be replaced by one of his variously named clones if you kill him, which will allow a new dialogue prompt informing him of such.
i started a new game and i put a "fog crawler in the commonwealth "mod on and it spawned in and killed all the pillars of the community before i even got there
just bodies everywhere
so as a cannibal raider i couldn't waste all that meat
There are surely many strange people in the Wasteland... but you know who is the craziest?
The designer that didn't put toilets in the Prydwen!
2:35 nate, what is that gun. For a second I thought it was the alien blaster
You are the best fallout 4 person in my opinion I LOVE YOU SO MUCH Keep it up! ❤️😘
I'd have included Cricket, who I have always found deeply unsettling.
For real. I'd like to know more about her.
Seriously, seems like she is on track to becoming a feral ghoul.
Really? I just consider Cricket a fun loving character that gets off on bangs and booms...
Firstly, the origing to the word bedlam is the psychiatric hospital itself, so it makes more sense the raider is named after that.
AWESOME ... Love it when you do the Fall Out games :-)
Why is Lorenzo Cabot not on this list? Still a great video
Great video
Haha.)
EDIT: OH DAMN. I had no idea that is where they got Pickman's name, never even heard of that Lovecraft story... Our Lord and Savior, Cthulhu would not approve.
i get that you already covered a lot of folks from nuka world, but i was surprised to not see anyone from nuka world at all
At the end with brother Simon, you should have said “silver tounge,” and “silver gun.” This would have made for beautiful alliteration and assonance
I never looked at it as a stretch but I've always associated the mechanist as a reference to thief 2 the metal age big baddy Madras who made a legion of robots with the end goal of destroying all life and then ruling as a somewhat quasi divine being. The kinda similar names are the only real reach in my opinion.
Thank you for the video. :)
Love your videos, but the amp-yew-thee-ay-ter is killing me lol.
14:23 Looks like Deacon joined the Kings at some point
Why am I thinking about the salesman from that one spongebob episode when they were seeking chocolate bars and he kept coming to the door when Nate spoke of Brother Simon😂😂
Yeah and Brother Simon comes back alive. I wiped them out the first time when I started out. And when I did the quest.... he was back, under a different name but is clearly a same person. There is also a unique dialogue of you wiped them out the first time.
Pickman's got a bit of an Elder Maxson look to him...cant say I ever noticed that before
Really need a video talking about having all the creation club mods crashes your game... because that’s a thing
1:37 lol that voice crack
You Should Do A Series On Fallout 4 Mods
Am I the only one that actually likes Pickman? He basically is just doing what everyone else does, hating and killing raiders, then he just turns them into "art". Weird yes, but I've seen some other weird things that are considered "art" made with all sorts of different mediums. At Least his pictures are more interesting then a banana duct taped to a canvas XD
I mean... I think raiders are the most crazy im a walking tank of powerarmor and guns larger than your torso and theyre comin at me with a pipewrench
