Todd at Indy paint in Brownsburg Indianana does work 2nd to none. He’s painted hundreds of CT70s which has given him time to perfect the color. Give him a call.
I think the market for CT70s will raise when the new Dax 125 comes out. The price of the CT90s definitely went up with the Trail 125s and they were half as desirable as the CT70.
Mini Bike Mike here on utube puts Lifan 125cc motors on his CT70's...So did Cars and Cameras...I personally wanted to restore mine to look original and weathered as possible. I got lucky with mine and the bike was in pretty good shape...The parts were only just a drive from my home...CHP Motorsports...Have fun...I am restoring a 2000 Honda XR80r, just collecting parts for now and I will be doing update videos on that....
I've got one that ran before I put it in a shed years ago, I've been holding onto it for years, had many ideas to restore it but never really got to it

Personally, I have zero interest in the new retro bikes. They’re not the bike I grew up with, so I don’t have any connection to them. Plus, I can build a CT125 for a fraction of the cost of a new one. With that said, I agree on the high nostalgia level and they’ll probably sell like crazy.

I'm surprised to where prices have went. I would have never dreamt this 10 years back. Also, I don't think a new Dax will do anything to bring them down. With a lot of guys getting priced out of the market for an original, I've seen the popularity of the clones grow. Icebear makes a 125cc clone called the Champion. Without knowing the intricacies of year by year CT's, 95% would be fooled, seeing one that has been lightly modified to look like a vintage CT. I have a HK1 as well as an Icebear. Both are fun in their own regard, but the clone is / and will be a lot more true to the original than a new Dax (and at $1350 USD before mods). Keep up the great videos and thank you!
If your serious about having your headlight bezel redone.you may want to find out about SPECTRA CHROME. It's not a paint it's a solution sprayed on to the part .it's a durable finish and it's the same way it was done originally.this process is the way to chrome plastic parts.ive noticed in the past you talked about trying to rechrome the plastic headlight bezel . I think once you look into it you will be amazed. This process is the Same way Honda did there headlight bezel in Japan so it been around for a long time.
Thanks, I'll look into Spectra Chrome; but I'm not trying to chrome the headlight bucket, I want it to be the same color as the body of the bike. Since only metal can readily be powder coated, I'm unable to color-match the headlight bucket when I do that. On this new project when I do a real paint, I can have everything match, regardless of the material.
It’s will be interesting to see if the new Dax actually manifests as it’s been rumored for a while. I agree that the market for CT is larger in the US. Everywhere else the z50/monkey is much more popular. My guess is a new Dax/CT won’t hurt the market as the new monkey didn’t hurt the z50 market. If anything they went up in value due to renewed interest.
Not holding my breath for new CT just yet, these renders have been popping up for long time, but I’d 100% be on board for one if it has actual clutch. If it’s semi-auto only the level of want drops dramatically, but would probably still end up with one eventually.
I think your videos alone have attributed to the increase in price of the ct70's 🤣. I think if the older one's become cheaper, then people will loose interest in them as a collectors item or (garage candy). That's when I will stock up😉
Are people able to tag these for street use in certain states or are these strictly for off-road use? I would like to see a new one. Not sure what that would do to the value of the old ones.
Yes, easiest way if you don't have a title is to go the Vermont route (regardless of what state you live in): ua-cam.com/video/zVyoc1taDu4/v-deo.html there's lots of different ways based on your state regulations and DMV procedures.
@@alainnadeau3421 Takegawa has a good looking single high mount exhaust in Japan that I may go with. It doesn't have an o2 bung but those are easy to have welded in. We'll see, hopefully Yoshi gets these out soon.
