I just this paint job with the VHT on an old honda wheel hub, and it came out very rough, I didn't wet sand on the primer, not sure if it would have made diff. But I did bake it 200F for 1hr per instruction, and it was still rough after the bake. The texture is like a brand new unpolished cast iron skillet. Going to get a can of gloss clear and see if can get a glossly look. Otherwise the colour seems to align pretty good.
I'm painting the chain guard on an old 1965 Honda S65. I first used the Rustoleum 2X Aluminum paint, but it looks more like chrome. I then purchased the Honda paint. Do you know if I can paint the Honda paint on top of the Rustoluem?
What about Dupli-Color BCP103 Silver Caliper Paint, or their Base Anodized Silver/ VHT Base Anodized Metallics Silver? VHT Engine Enamel Sp995? Rust-Oleum Lacquer Customs Silver Metallic 323351 (might be almost similar to the RUST-OLEUM Silver Metallic 7271830 you presented in this video) And RUST-OLEUMS Universal Metallic Paint & Primer Titanium Silver 245220? Lastly Their are like 6 different aluminum and Silver metallic paints Eastwood makes, and SEM makes ALOT of Silvers too im pretty sure... I do Know they have the NH700M/NH700XM Alabaster Silver For Hondas & Acuras, but no NH623M Satin Silver Metallic For most other Hondas/Acuras/, which is SURPRISINGLY & UNFORTUNATE! They have a TDS on a chart for all Acura Honda OEM colors on SEMs Website! So far I think that Rust-Oleum 7271830 is like a SPOT ON COLOR MATCH For the NH623M Satin Silver Metallic but im curious to see the Customs 323351 and some of these other silvers I mentioned... I know Car Quest can mix up nice Color matched paint in a 16oz can (instead of a measly 7oz or 8oz like most others do) for like $27... Thats not bad for 16oz! A 17oz or 20oz aerosol can would be EVEN BETTER! but the 4th biggest available size from the monster Turbo 24oz is nothing to complain about really... 7oz, 7.5oz, 8oz, 10oz, 11oz, 12oz, 13oz, 15oz, 16oz, 17oz, 20oz & 24oz are pretty much the most common... There are some 9.5oz, 10.25oz, 10.5oz and 14oz but those are typically very uncommon.
Thanks for the detailed comparison!
Thanks I was looking for an easier to find and cheaper alternative!
Thanks for the hard work!
Excellent video for comparison! i wonder if the VHT would look at a higher gloss if baked in an oven for a ~20 minutes

Hope to see the Hondas you are using that paint on 👍

Have you tried Duplicate-Color DE 1615 Aluminum? You can also too with Gloss DE1636
what happens if you put a clear coat over the VHT? Would you get the same Silver Cloud look?
Doesn't show ant flake. Doesn't know lighting.
