I had one of those in 1970 when I was 10 years old. I’ve had minibikes before… but my CT 70 was my first real motorcycle. I’ve had a lot of bikes since then, and my CT 70 is still my favorite!

CT 70 was my 2cd bike, first was a QA 50. Honda taught many of us how to ride as kids. Third bike was a TS 100 Suzuki and a few years later I got a Shadow 500, then a Shadow 750. Then I graduated to a Harley Lowrider. Thanks Honda for teaching me how to ride!

Got a used CT70 in about 1975 when I was 13 years old. First girlfriend I had lived 4 miles away up the same state route I lived on, with our town in between. For a year when I didn't have a drivers license yet, I would ride the 70 about 150 yards up to the first cross road and take back roads for about 8 miles up to the closest crossroad abut a half mile from her house, and brave the state route for that last minute to her house. There was a long hill back the holler around the corner from my house, which I climbed on the way to her house, but I got to come down on the way home. I'd have it wide open with my head low as came over the top at about 50, and it would gain speed and usually about halfway down I'd pass 55 and it would pop out of 4th gear and just coast the rest of the way. Great memories.

That's the first year/make/model motorcycle I ever crashed. I was 5 years old. My uncle let me get on, then he leaned down, said, "Now give the throttle a LITTLE twist, and it will move forward." And I twisted it as far as it would go. You'd think that would scare me off motorcycles, but here I am, 58, and I still ride. Uncle Joe was quite a character.

I recently bought a house. My first house. 25 years old and the first thing my dad drops off is his own 1970 trail 70. Sapphire blue. Didn’t run but it made a great garage project. I can’t believe that the bike is 53 years old, and all it needed was a new spark plug, new gas, new oil, and a “cleaned” carburetor. I only say “cleaned” because all I had to do was use a pipe cleaner to clear out the jets. Just built differently back then.

Mini Bike, Honda 70, Honda 100 (sawed the muffler off into a trumpet, then bought another muffler cuz it was SO LOUD), Huskie 250 - The huskie came way later in life... My buddies got 2 strokes that blew my Honda 100 away, but sounded like chainsaws. The girls definitely liked my Honda better.

I was fifteen when my sister got this bike new. She tired of it and by age sixteen, I was on it every nice day. After cleaning my folk's car for my first date, I had an hour to kill and hopped on wearing only gym trunks...the throttle cable had been stuck wide-open for a week or two, but the key was used to continue riding. A quarter mile down the road, neighbor Stevie was tooling round his yard on his 70 with a helmet on. I yelled, 'the gravel pit' and he caught up. About a mile on a gravel road, we rode the last stretch right into the sun and I passed my friend. Out of nowhere, there it was - a welded cable across the road as the gravel pit had closed. Braced for impact and hit...'what happened' Stevie yelled as he stopped. Three weeks at the I.U. Med Center Indpls., IN, I was released and one big scab. I hated the bike, vowed to never ride again! Two more hospital stays from motorcycle accidents followed, the last in 1980 left me a spinal injury in a wheelchair since. All bikes I owned were Hondas, the last a '79 tenth anniversary limited edition 750 - a car pulled out and we collided. I look at this restored CT70 and appreciate all the good times had back then and appreciate that day to be my warning, my fateful warning of what was to come without regret. Tempted at times to look into something like the Honda70 for our grandchildren after our daughters two four-wheelers she survived, I'll encourage you to consider what I've shared. God is Great!

Not sure if the vid shows the front wheel fasterners with (one) the latter version of the Honda bolts with the bisected circle on the bolt head off center with a short line to one side. The era correct bolts are centered, bisected circle with no other marking on the bolt head. May be the way the vid shows the bolt or a blemish. Had a Sl70 back in the day.
