  • I'm taking my Icebear Champion, CT70 clone offroad in the desert in this part 1 of a two part off-road adventure. We'll visit an old silver mine, see the desert country in New Mexico a little bit, see how badly the CT70 handles soft sand and rocks, and in Part 2 we'll visit a couple of site for Indian Rock Carving called Petroglyphs.

I had an original 1972 CT 70 in Special Yellow color. Wish I had it now of course, but man I can tell you, sand is that bikes nemesis. Thanks for the video, fun to watch.

Not for mine. I put on larger and wider knobby tires and it's my sand-bike now. Of course I have 125cc also which helps keep the tire spinning.

Great video, thanks for posting. Beautiful place to ride and nice job on the video. It’s fun to hear it make all the same little noises, occasional brake squeak and engine sounds as mine.
When you add part 2 add a link in the description, I look fwd to watching it.

I remember seeing the ct 70 on Daytona Beach in Florida . They would rent them by the hour . That was back on the 70's.
Bigger tires are a must ,for your riding. Nice video. Ride safe

Thanks for the ride. Beautiful country! I just bought a couple of red ones for my wife, and me to share with our two sons who are 8, and 12. As a matter of fact the MCO's arrived today. They sure are a lot of fun for the whole family. I plan to take them with us RVing so we can have many mini adventures along the way. PS. If anybody tries to give you flack for the Honda decals you can tell them they are actually correct for the bike because Honda didn't make them either.

I’m thinking about selling my Yamaha xt225 to get one of these. I was telling my daughter who’s almost 8 she might be big enough to ride it. How does your 8 year old do on one? She likes the Yamaha though and don’t want me to sell it. She likes going for rides on the back.

@@GratefulEd907 My 8 year old is too small for it. He is about 4' 50lbs so he's small for his age. He can barely touch the ground. I just don't want to risk it so I got him a a little 2 stroke 50 dirt bike. That way he he won't feel left out. He is getting it tomorrow, and I'm stoked. My 12 year old has no problem with it. He's about 5'5", and maybe 100lbs. It's a really good fit for him. I weighed mine on a doctors scale a couple of weeks ago, and it came at 175lbs so if I remember right it's considerably lighter than advertised.

It was good in the deep sand once I geared it down and put real knobby tires on it. But I recently sold it as my new Honda Monkey is a much better bike. It can do everything the Champion could do off-road, and it can cruise 55 mph (instead of 35 on the Champion). that 125 engine on the champion is really weak.

It was really a junky machine. I sold it for what I paid for it because the prices went up on new ones, and I bought Honda Monkey. it's four times the machine, and about 4 times the price! LOL

@@ccy8379 I would if you can afford it. I bought a used one but didn't save any money because at the time you couldn't find a new one anywhere and used ones were bringing new prices. It only had 800 miles on it. I wanted a 2022 model because of the 5 speed tranny and oil filter, but they were having a lot of trouble with transmissions burning up because the top two gears weren't getting oil. Honda was replacing the entire engine/transmission assembly on a lot of them, so I got a 2021 with a 4 speed and just a screen filter. It's a lot faster on the highway and lot more powerful off-road than the Chinese CT-70 clone even though they both have a 125cc engine. The Chinese one would top out about 35 mph and I can cruise all day at 55 on the Honda. The manual clutch instead of the automatic clutch on the CT-70 give it a lot more power and controllability. The Honda is also slightly bigger with a much better saddle for highway riding. It's one of my two favorite bikes, the other one is the new 2023 XR150. It's a lot like my old 1975 XL125 with no electronics. Analog speedometer and odometer and a carburetor with manual choke and the least expensive big name bike in America ($2971).

That was fun to watch! Thank you for posting ! So if this is a CT70 clone, I assume it has the 125 engine. Also , the side decals say Honda. Looks very cool, but was that you or the manufacturer? Basically, what I am saying is I want your bike, where do I get it?

love the vid! I always have to clarify what BLM is to people haha! So, I wanted to get a Honda Ruckus (really wanted the new Trail), but they're out of my budget this year. I want something I can venture into BLM land with, I live right up against BLM land and I usually mountain-bike out there, but I want to take one of my guns out there and some gear along with me on the ride, was wondering if the Champion would be a good choice. I do see a lot of people fighting the steering out on the rougher dirt in these types of youtube vids, and the fire roads here get really rocky. What's this 125 clone you speak of? Thanks for the vid!
