Broly already destroyed a galaxy and had the hair and power going in. The whole mental trauma and anger towards goku is the emotional driving force for his transformation. Think about the others who transformed due to emotional sadness and pure rage over a loved one. Then recall Vegeta completely giving up on being a super saiyan and screaming in frustration about it then reaching it. The trigger has been the pure emotion of mostly some form of mental rage. With Broly's potential already so large and fighting endlessly his super saiyan feat made sense. Easy explanation and you have a DB avatar, get out of here. No seriously, its a super avatar...eww...

The non Canon broly was so bad ass tho and just worked so much better. He looked like a legendary super saiyan. The new one looks and sounds like a lesbonic super saiyan. I prefer the hatred for goku compared to him not knowing him at all. In the new one it's his dad's hate for vegeta, the old one his dad hates vegeta but broly hates goku and paragus can't contain him then broly kills him in a savage way. The only downfall of the first film is the way broly is killed cause there's clearly no thought put into it. Now he's gonna be a Z fighter which makes no sense
The first broly was fun to watch, but it failed to really make it feel like a fight. Nevermind how bad Vegeta was handled in the Z movies (epic intros, but then quickly knocked out) I always wanted to see a longer more drawn out fight towards the end when Goku was powered up enough to take him on. It left alot to the imagination. -if there was no comet, would goku's borrowed power last long enough to effecively beat broly? Could Goku have fought more seriously earlier on but decided to bide his energy the whole time cuz everytime he measured himself against broly he realized he wasnt strong enough yet... I like to think the latter, but it still woulda been nice to have a longer fight sequence at the end of the first Broly. The second Broly movie gave us the unrestricted super saiyan look of broly, as well as his huge meteor sized energy blast at the end, but it fell short in fighting even more than the first Broly did. while it did have some fighting between Broly and Gohan before Broly went Legendary, the actual fight between Legendary Broly and Gohan was far shorter than the Goku vs Broly fight was, before the final family kamehameha sequence started. Broly's lines were also drastically reduced to just screams, kakarots, and "not until you lie dead at my feet" being the only real line from him in the entirety of the 2nd movie. This movie could have passed as 2-3 filler episodes in Z, and thats ignoring the first half of the movie until Broly shows up lol. (at least the first part of the 1st broly movie was more interesting) Fully agreed on Bio-Broly, we can all agree that SSJ swamp thing was a bad idea lol. Now Im not saying I disliked the first 2 broly movies, but they couldve been so much better than they were, and DBS: Broly pretty much did ALL the things in that regard.

Or was he "only" a real strong SSJ who was as strong as the Androids 17 & 18? And yes, as much as i love the old berserk Broly, i truly like the new one. I think, if he could control his enormous strength, he could be a really good guy who fits into the group of Z Fighters :)

No offense but here’s my reasons why DBZ is better than Dragon Ball Super: - brutally, dismemberment, and blood spilling - Videl as a badass Tomboy - Gohan grown from a scared kid to a warrior with potential - Piccolo as a more prominent character - Vegeta’s anti hero role with some badass one liners - Tien, Yamcha, and Krillin being relevants throughout the arcs, except the Buu Saga - Bruce Fauconer’s scores - Emotional and dramatic moments that makes us fans tear up. - Intense battles and destruction - Future Trunks’s muscular tone and purple hair - Pikkon and the other world combatants - Non-Canon villains from movies (Cooler, DBZ Broly, Hirudegarm, Janemba, etc) - Frieza Saga - Son Goku given a more noble/heroic role than his original continuity. - King Kai’s Training - Z-Fighters vs the Ginyu Force - TV Specials (Bardock: The Father of Goku and the History of Trunks) that are tied to the main arcs -Bardock with his green armor and his badass red bandanna.
I agree with all of your points! Seriously, I miss Bruce Faulconer. This video claims that Super handles side characters, like the other Z fighters, better than Z handled them. But I couldn't disagree more with points like that. I really wish we could see a true return of the other Z fighters in the same capacity as we did in Z. Things like Piccolo and Kami's fusion, Tien smashing the hell out of Cell with his Tri-beam , or Gohan being considered stronger than all of the other fighters, or even just the adventures of Gohan, Krillin, Piccolo, and Vegeta on Namek while Goku was essentially MIA. Those made for awesome and meaningful moments in the series. I feel like anime writing in general is a bit too ADD these days. It often doesn't slow down to truly build meaningful moments anymore.
It really isn't, there's a bunch of plot holes and as a show there are much better ones, the writing was sloppy at times and oh my god the pacing of it was horrendous. DBZ just has that nostalgic value and some really powerful scenes like Future Gohan's death or Frieza's death (''YOU MUST DIE BY MY HAND!'' ''YOU FOOL!'' such a sick line), either way Super is a bit better in that sense since it inplements stuff like the S-Cells, Fusion n shit
calling Z a masterpiece just makes you seem ignorant. People recall Z on a pedestal due to nostalgia and the fact that most people were on the younger side. If you watch Z again as an adult you will see a bunch of potholes, inconsistencies, dumb power jumps (piccolo, Goku, gohan...), zero character development other than vegeta (this one is a problem on all Db series), the lack of storytelling and repeated plot ( villain appears, they get ass kicked, they go to the temple room, train, power-up, they win). Super had a bunch of problems (a lot of them were inherited from Z) and overall Id say it is understandable that people like Z better (it's overall better) but Z was far from perfect, way too far.
Ok so, Bulma originally had purple hair but her hair color changed to blue later in the series for some reason, Trunks had Purple hair because of Bulma's original character design, but then, to be consistent with the now blue-haired Bulma, they rechanged his hair color to Blue to fix that continuity shit

Dragon ball Z had alot of slice of life moments like when the 7 year time skip ended and there were those episodes where gohan went to high school,or the 10 day period while waiting for the cell games,when goku and his family hung out and went to places together

Honestly, one of my favorite parts about Super was the calmer moments and the conversations some characters had with each other. Bulma talking to Jaco and Goku and Jaco and that squid interacting and Goku and Vegeta talking about how they love the fiercer sides of Bulma and Chichi, with Vegeta revealing that it's because of their Saiyan blood while Piccolo is having a crisis in the background, or when Goku and 17 talked in that island before the tournament and Goku straight up said that he wasn't a hero and all that. These conversations are really interesting and it's fun to see these characters interacting like this. I feel like in Z the world was just CONSTANTLY in danger and there wasn't much time to slow things down and focus on these kind of things but Super does that really well.

The thing is, the U6 Saiyans were much more powerful than the U7 saiyans. In Z it seems to me there is a particular power level that must be achieved and then a triger to achieve super saiyan. Not only were the U6 saiyans way more powerful in base but their genetics were different as well. As far as the tingly back thing Im sure there would be many sensations you would feel if you could transform and radically alter your strength. Imagine being able to mutate on command. Lmfao I respect your opinion though.
I also loved how they were able to make things out of their Ki. Like that time Golu planted landmines for Jiren and stuff.. Or making weapons out of Ki. I think those were cool.

They can cook up a transofrmation for Piccolo, and some really weird stuff for tien probably lol. I mean, Neo tri beam against Semi perfect cell was still an incredible feat for his character even now, when you think about how strong characters were at that time. I def agree that we need other characters in the spot light, though Super has done that well too actually, giving us Trunks as the hero of a story that had SSGSS Vegito, and 17 as the last man standing in the ToP while Goku shared the final push alongside Frieza for one of the best fight sequences in the series next to DBS: Broly lol. I have a feeling we'll see more when the time comes.

I want some more Dragon Ball Online story elements to start coming into play because toriyama wrote the plot for that game, plots like: Tenshinhan's New Crane School which has sort of happened in super, Kuririn becoming the master of the New Turtle School, Goten and Trunks start their own school called the Kikoukenjutsu or Qigong Swordsmanship probably inspired by Future Trunks, Gohan and Yamucha's sword use; Gohan writes a scientific book on Ki Control for Martial Artist, King Kai actually teaches the Earth's populace to use the Kaioken, and Yardrats come to Earth to teach their techniques to Earthlings now likely inspired by Vegeta and Goku learning from them. These need to happen at least after the Moro Arc.
Some of these weren't bad points, like handeling Broly, or introducing female super saiyans, but here is a couple big issues I personally had with it. 1: Yes they introduced female saiyans and even super saiyans, but they picked up on super Saiyan so quickly that it seemed unearned, and then super Saiyan 2 as well. Kale was better as she has the same power as Broly, but still, it felt cheap. 2: They did in fact explain the fusion breaking, but it seems like they only did that because they realized that the fans were creating different answers and wanted to create something concrete. they wrote themselves into a hole and had to dig their way out, and while the fans had great ideas, they were tossed away because once again they wrote themselves into a hole with merged zamasu and had to dig their way out. 3: Future trunks was handled terribly, inconsistent time line problems in both z and here with Mai's age, and also the spirit sword was bs though I did like that he reached ssj2, the problem was that he was once again painted as incredibly powerful only to then become useless immediately. 4: The jokes, simply are not that great in my opinion. They seemed to take inspiration from TFS and made Goku into a bumbling idiot who thought kissing was yucky, and while we never seen him kiss chi-chi no one denied that he should have considering the wedding. 5: Speaking of inconsistency's, trunks in the main timeline is messed up as well, he is supposed to be what? 13 here. . . he hasn't grown at all since he was 8 and we seen him at this age in the special where he looked much bigger. They literally only did this to have him and Mai at the same age because of his future self but that don't make sense because that mai never got reverted and should be closer to 60 by now if not older. These are just a few issues, I have many more. Honestly while not perfect the manga was a lot better.

Just to piggyback, I feel that Goku and Vegeta’s relationship throughout the course of DBZ and DBS has progressed in accordance to time the way it should have, therefor saying that they depicted their relationship better in Super than in Z isnt even a fair comparison. DBZ wasnt setup for them to be complete friends just yet since Vegeta was still angry at how far Goku has surpassed him in strength still. Also, idc about something being cannon or not, DBS definitely has more fillers than Z. You can literally watch “Battle of Gods” and “Return of Freeza” then start at the tournament and be caught up with the series. Tis all
@@Beezus-93 thank you, I've been a huge fan since I started with the first episode of Dragon ball. Super is definitely filler and none of it makes any sense. Okay technique over power sure, I agree with that, but in a tornament with people who can blow up planets and even solar systems by simply powering up, Roshi, Tien, Krillin should have died instantly surrounded by all of that. C17 and 18 should have been taken out quickly. Piccolo and Gohan should have held on for a bit, but let's be real here only gods stood a real chance so Frieza, Goku, and Vegeta were the only ones that should have made it through especially after Goku reached ultra instinct and Vegeta mastered ssjb. The other seven should have been fodder, and I hate saying that because Gohan Piccolo and Krillin are some of my favorite characters.

@LeftTheNegotiator Yeah they mentioned that kinder Saiyans produce more S-Cells which boosts their potential to go Super, if they concentrate it all in one spot and merge it with their Ki in one big energy explosion, they'll most likely unlock super for a bit atleast. That's why Gohan had trouble turning super in the Hyperbolic Time Chamber, he didn't have that rage that made his blood flow and energy burst, that was until 16 was killed and he snapped releasing all his energy. Caulifla and Cabba call it back tingles cause they're talking in a more chill, non-chalant way. So uh, yeah that's how it goes
They pick up on supersayain the same way gohan did in the the chamber. Just think of lost hurt and pain.. goku did the same thing when killin died right in front of him.
Dragon Ball Super definitely did not have higher stakes. Not once did I feel like things were going to end badly. Only time I thought it felt remotely close to that was during the Goku Black Arc.
I personally prefered the episode Goku and Piccolo learned how to drive in dbz more than all the fillers DBS showed for comedy purposes. Making Arale go toe to toe with god tier Goku and Vegeta wasn't comedy it only made them look bad. Their god forms are not supposed to be a joke.
Android 17 being a good guy saving his universe was worth every bit of super being just as good as any dragon ball z material. He was awesome to see him fight and improve and not be bantha fodder for cell.
I’m assuming you missed this in the dbs movie since they were only in the background but Bardock’s gang that got killed in Z by Dodoria and those other 3 guys were seen in the background with the other saiyans while king cold was introducing Frieza. And Toyotoro drew them in their dbs outfits moments before Dodoria killed them so they couldn’t contact Bardock so I’d still consider them canon. They even had some other key moments that were offscreen from the bardock special in the dbs broly movie like bardocks fight with Frieza men outside the ship since Bardock’s armor was damaged like in the original non-canon version
Let’s be perfectly clear though. #2 as described isn’t “raising the stakes” from a narrative perspective. That entire bit is just crediting super for having “stronger” foes and greater jumps in power leveling/scaling. Because to say that DBS “raises the stakes” better or more than DBZ is really hard to argue considering that’s one of DBZ’s greatest strengths. Considering the framing of Dragonball coming into Z you have things like Goku immediately fighting for for the life of his young son teaming up with the big bad of the previous series and giving up his life to do it, saving the earth from the saiyans, traveling to Namek and preventing Frieza a galactic level threat which latently becomes Goku avenging and protecting the legacy a heritage he just recently had to accept (Goku initially didn’t accept that he was a saiyan like Raditz but by the Frieza Saga he’s almost fighting with his entire race on his back Among other things). There’s a need to save the Future AND the past...to change DESTINY to save causality, Gohan has to overcome his feelings of weakness and inadequacy to save the world from Cell to become the strongest or risk losing not only his life but everything and everyone he loves (Gohan being a much more emotionally involved/attached character than even his father) and having his father’s sacrifice be in vain...not able to fill the shoes of his father who believed in him if he failed, etc. The stakes are EXTREMELY high and are gradually raised throughout DBZ on the individual, personal and literal power levels. DBS is so busy marginalizing their own characters and story it really can’t compare the the depth and drama of Z. It’s like DBS doesn’t even respect itself enough to take itself seriously as a story. It feels cheap. Not the production value but the writing itself. So many cheap cop outs and cliche anime tropes used carelessly and without thought imo. But yeah ultimately you can’t say DBZ didn’t do a great job of handling what was at stake and raising those stakes for everyone on so many different levels outside of “who is stronger than who”.
Also I want to add that it doesn’t help Super that they have the Beerus and Whis characters hang around who are immediately interpreted to be so strong that most of the conflict in Super could have been snuffed out without any trouble had the aforementioned two ever decided to stop being joke characters by nature and actually get involved in the fights to save everyone. Also until the narrative is adjusted slightly at the very end in the Tournament of Power the fact that from the beginning we know Goku and Vegeta have access to Super Saiyan Blue makes every and all fights where they start fighting in SSJ1 or SSJ2 feel like “this fight is a wash and Goku could easily turn SSB and disintegrate this guy if he was really trying”. It cheapens most of the fights. ToP starts to highlight SSB and SSG can’t be used for long durations because of strain which was nice but that got attention WAY too late like towards the end. For what it’s worth the pre use for ToP being a ring out free for all tournament was cool but wish they did more with it. For like half a second it made other characters that weren’t SSB level fighters relevant for a bit which was refreshing if not short lived.
The humor on DBS was hilarious, seriously - the male love recital ?? XD And also the animation is much better on mass fights. The multiverse tournament had Many vs many while DBZ had 99% of the times fight 1 on 1 (except the movies and history of trunks). it was always something that bothered me on DBZ

@@jantheking7028 the comedy was made for teenagers and lower, so the typical Anime audience, I guess the fight sequences look like they don't even belong to Dragon Ball - the animation style is way too different, and choreography could be less random and sped up

It seems that everybody is complaining about the animation, so I'm here to clear this up: It is not the animator's fault, it was due to a short time period to animate between each episode, resulting in them putting rough drafts in place of a finished piece of animation, a lot of people will say that it's due to inexperienced animators which is not true, a lot of the animators there were actually veterans from DBZ such as, Masahiro Shimanuki, Hiroyuki Itai, Osamu Ishikawa, Yoshitaka Yashima, Hirotaka Nii, Shuichiro Manabe, Yuichi Karasawa, Futoshi Higashide, Noaki Tate, and the legend.... Naotoshi Shida! But anyways, please don't hate on Dragon Ball Super for it's animation, hate on the people that gave the animators very little time to complete the episodes.
Curious, however, I was less impressed with Karot Cake's dimwttedness. It is the opposite of what we see in his character development coming near the end of Boo Arch. His second point. Though, the comedy, when stated, was good from what I've heard, it ended up taking away from what should have a more serious adult-themed tone. I agree that Super did a better job of potentially raising the stakes with the threats. But, that was to be expected, and they did deliver. Super had many, many good ideas, but me and others feel they underperformed with the writing. Whereas they expanded the universe and introduced other gods. The character development, personality, and design left much to be desired. TOP, great concept. Some cool characters. But poor delivery, some very nonsensical feats within the DB(S) universe, and not enough backstory to support new concepts-Super tried to devote a lot more to the character development of the main characters and others. But how they made them was very childish. They addressed many of the issues of taking back the characters sidelined in Z to some extent. But, when they wrote more for the Z characters, who were sidelined to the extent in Z. They seemed to have arguably botched them. Making them childish, against who they were in Z either making them weaker or nonsensically stronger than they should be. Relative to karot Cakes training and Veggies'. I will give sup a W here though, and I'll say this: all the new forms in Sup were much more creative and cool. They stacked the main two, Veggie and Karot very well. The same cannot be said for others, though. The OG brolly none cannon was arguably better. But that isn't a biggie because both had good writing, with the best animation seen from the new one yet. Though, his feats still don't make much sense. But then, neither did Jiren's.
DBZ raised stakes everytime the same way(goku is away, friends are getting their ass kicked ,at long last goku makes the grand entry , fightt every saga its the same way stakes r raised ) DBZ is pure nostalgia but DBS (until hit comes to the scene is bullshit) after hit it really gets interesting DBS s5 is just WOW correcting the flaws it raised stakes in a diversified way not the same way again and again.

I like how they coordinated more team battles. Z had a few but were mostly just one on one spars. Imagine if the Z warriors had a full out assault on the Saiyans when they came to Earth. Especially without Vegeta wanting to join in the beginning it would have been cool seeing the gang attack Napa and the Saibamen

Its changed even the work of drawing,very poor drawing,the muscles the proportion of the budy,everything is made more shitty,when u saw songoku and others,they were painted with dignity,and with something special in it,now they all look like Some half pottatoes ... sory for my english.
How about you try to be an animator for a popular series on a really rushed time schedule trying to replicate Akira Toriyama's art style for about 3500 - 5000 keyframes (which for even skilled animators could take a hour or two) for every single episode , not to mention the in between frames which smooth the animation out.

DBS does a better job making villains unique and interesting. Cell and Majin Buu are essentially the same villain. They don't even have their own attacks which I always thought was stupid. Zamasu in Super is my favorite villain since Freeza. Not only does he have very cool original powers, there is actual depth to his character.

It was broken into 7 when bandits invaded. 3) Roshi reminds everyone what they are - powerful objects made by the HUMAN Guardian of the Earth. 4) That ruler was Kami who made them to test & reward man kinds perseverance over adversity. 5) Kami is an alien from a race that makes them habitually for no real reason. 6) Kami sucked at making Dragon Balls and Guru can make really good ones and a kid from Namek can make ones much better than his. 7) Turns out there is another set of Black Star balls that everyone forgot about. DRAGON BALL: CHARACTER PLOT HOLES 1) Turtle reveals Roshi gained long life by drinking from the fountain of youth. They forget this later. 2) The Namek Saga took so long to write that Toriyama forgot the character Launch existed. 3-a) Roshi explains that Gohan told him Goku was found in a wicker basket amongst the reeds floating down river. 3-b) Roshi explains that Gohan told him that Goku was found in a spaceship that crashed in the mountains. 4) When starting DBSuper in response to the terrible insult that was the live action movie he forgot what colour of hair 18 had and made it Purple. 5-a) Upon hearing Raditz get winded by Gohan Nappa suggests enslaving & breeding with all the earth women to make a powerful Human/Saiyan hybrid army. Vegeta mentions he considered it but they offspring would be too powerful to control so wiping out the Human race was the better option. 5-b) Vegeta: "WHY ARE OUR CHILDREN SO POWERFUL!?!?!?!?!?!" 6) The Saibamen have 5000 power like Raditz. Raditz was so powerful he could move faster than light itself. Goku's power level is over 9000!... Frieza's is over 1,000,000 in his second form... does that make him 200x faster than the speed of light? They stop using the half hearted power level system after this. 7) Toriyama forgot that Gohan became a true Super Saiyan 2 to defeat Cell and called the long hair form Goku revealed as Super Saiyan 2 until an assistant corrected him. This is why nobody but kid Gohan ever hit SS2. 8-a) King Kai is the greatest martial artists in the living world and the afterlife and rules over everything! But is somehow weaker than Frieza and terrified of him. 8-b) King Kai is actually only 1 of 4 equally stationed Kai's who share rule of the Galaxy in 4 quadrants. They all serve under the Grand Kai! they are alright, I like Hit and some of the neat fighters near the end better though. those 2 girls were basically a stepping stone to show off what goku can do now, rather than being important. if they get more screen time in a future saga, maybe that will change.

So I clicked on this to have a good laugh, but what I got wasn't laughs. Literally everything this guy said was wrong and infuriating instead. Compared to Super, Z had no faults at all. Notice what I just said. COMPARED TO SUPER, Z had no faults. In reality, Z absolutely had flaws, but Super as a whole was flawed from the beginning and only got worse until it ended. I actually could sit here and go though every single point and explain why it's wrong, but let's be real...no one is going to read it. Honestly, even GT is better. Much better in fact. GT also had major flaws, but nowhere near as much as Super. DBS was so bad that it actually made some people watch GT and they came out and said "Oh. You know what? It's not as bad as I thought.". That's right. DBS made GT better than what people thought for those who actually watched it. I don't hate Super by any means...but it could have been SO much better than what it was. Not better than Z for what we were given, but better than what we got.

I was skepticle there were this many things 'better' but I admit most of this was true except comparing a 2019 full funded movie's animation to a 1990s anime.. especially when most of supers actual animation is awful with next to no fight choreography at all.
Anybody else think this guy's points are just bad... For example 1. Comedy in Z was far and few between but felt great and was funny. As for Super there was a lot of comedy but it felt very childish and stupid. (Pretty sure I didn't laugh throughout the entire Super series until the broly movie came out.) 2. He argues that Super Trunks is better than Z Trunks because he plays a bigger role in Super and doesn't get "sidelined" like he did in Z. I'm pretty sure that everyone loved Z Trunks much more and I definitely don't think he got sidelined in Z just because he didn't kill the villain. 3. For some reason he puts a huge emphasis on Kale and Kefla just because they are female saiyans and goes as far as to say "they are interesting characters and a major breath of fresh air." Kale and kefla where characters pretty much made just for fan service and had some of the worst power scaling and character development I've ever seen in a DB character and because of that pretty much the entire fan base hated them. (Even Japanese fans didn't like them.) And the list goes on. this is just 3 examples.

yeah it was so dumb, the only reason we weren't outraged, was because the movie was pretty Lit.
Broly already destroyed a galaxy and had the hair and power going in. The whole mental trauma and anger towards goku is the emotional driving force for his transformation. Think about the others who transformed due to emotional sadness and pure rage over a loved one. Then recall Vegeta completely giving up on being a super saiyan and screaming in frustration about it then reaching it. The trigger has been the pure emotion of mostly some form of mental rage. With Broly's potential already so large and fighting endlessly his super saiyan feat made sense. Easy explanation and you have a DB avatar, get out of here. No seriously, its a super avatar...eww...

The non Canon broly was so bad ass tho and just worked so much better. He looked like a legendary super saiyan. The new one looks and sounds like a lesbonic super saiyan. I prefer the hatred for goku compared to him not knowing him at all. In the new one it's his dad's hate for vegeta, the old one his dad hates vegeta but broly hates goku and paragus can't contain him then broly kills him in a savage way. The only downfall of the first film is the way broly is killed cause there's clearly no thought put into it. Now he's gonna be a Z fighter which makes no sense
I personally liked the two first Broly Movies. The Bio Broly thing... ahhh let's not talk about that. That never happend, ok?
The first broly was fun to watch, but it failed to really make it feel like a fight. Nevermind how bad Vegeta was handled in the Z movies (epic intros, but then quickly knocked out) I always wanted to see a longer more drawn out fight towards the end when Goku was powered up enough to take him on. It left alot to the imagination. -if there was no comet, would goku's borrowed power last long enough to effecively beat broly? Could Goku have fought more seriously earlier on but decided to bide his energy the whole time cuz everytime he measured himself against broly he realized he wasnt strong enough yet... I like to think the latter, but it still woulda been nice to have a longer fight sequence at the end of the first Broly.
The second Broly movie gave us the unrestricted super saiyan look of broly, as well as his huge meteor sized energy blast at the end, but it fell short in fighting even more than the first Broly did. while it did have some fighting between Broly and Gohan before Broly went Legendary, the actual fight between Legendary Broly and Gohan was far shorter than the Goku vs Broly fight was, before the final family kamehameha sequence started. Broly's lines were also drastically reduced to just screams, kakarots, and "not until you lie dead at my feet" being the only real line from him in the entirety of the 2nd movie. This movie could have passed as 2-3 filler episodes in Z, and thats ignoring the first half of the movie until Broly shows up lol. (at least the first part of the 1st broly movie was more interesting)
Fully agreed on Bio-Broly, we can all agree that SSJ swamp thing was a bad idea lol.
Now Im not saying I disliked the first 2 broly movies, but they couldve been so much better than they were, and DBS: Broly pretty much did ALL the things in that regard.

- Vegeta’s anti hero role with some badass one liners
- Tien, Yamcha, and Krillin being relevants throughout the arcs, except the Buu Saga
- Bruce Fauconer’s scores
- Emotional and dramatic moments that makes us fans tear up.
- Intense battles and destruction
- Future Trunks’s muscular tone and purple hair
- Pikkon and the other world combatants
- Non-Canon villains from movies (Cooler, DBZ Broly, Hirudegarm, Janemba, etc)
- Frieza Saga
- Son Goku given a more noble/heroic role than his original continuity.
- King Kai’s Training
- Z-Fighters vs the Ginyu Force
- TV Specials (Bardock: The Father of Goku and the History of Trunks) that are tied to the main arcs
-Bardock with his green armor and his badass red bandanna.
I appreciate most of this, except DBZ completely undid any Gohan good with the buu saga.

This video claims that Super handles side characters, like the other Z fighters, better than Z handled them. But I couldn't disagree more with points like that. I really wish we could see a true return of the other Z fighters in the same capacity as we did in Z. Things like Piccolo and Kami's fusion, Tien smashing the hell out of Cell with his Tri-beam , or Gohan being considered stronger than all of the other fighters, or even just the adventures of Gohan, Krillin, Piccolo, and Vegeta on Namek while Goku was essentially MIA. Those made for awesome and meaningful moments in the series. I feel like anime writing in general is a bit too ADD these days. It often doesn't slow down to truly build meaningful moments anymore.

It really isn't, there's a bunch of plot holes and as a show there are much better ones, the writing was sloppy at times and oh my god the pacing of it was horrendous. DBZ just has that nostalgic value and some really powerful scenes like Future Gohan's death or Frieza's death (''YOU MUST DIE BY MY HAND!'' ''YOU FOOL!'' such a sick line), either way Super is a bit better in that sense since it inplements stuff like the S-Cells, Fusion n shit

calling Z a masterpiece just makes you seem ignorant. People recall Z on a pedestal due to nostalgia and the fact that most people were on the younger side. If you watch Z again as an adult you will see a bunch of potholes, inconsistencies, dumb power jumps (piccolo, Goku, gohan...), zero character development other than vegeta (this one is a problem on all Db series), the lack of storytelling and repeated plot ( villain appears, they get ass kicked, they go to the temple room, train, power-up, they win). Super had a bunch of problems (a lot of them were inherited from Z) and overall Id say it is understandable that people like Z better (it's overall better) but Z was far from perfect, way too far.
I love how when it came to trunks, vegeta had no hesitation giving his energy away unlike the times when he's asked to give goku his energy

Dragon ball Z had alot of slice of life moments like when the 7 year time skip ended and there were those episodes where gohan went to high school,or the 10 day period while waiting for the cell games,when goku and his family hung out and went to places together

1)The characters were way more badass
2)The characters power was not nerfed that much unlike super
3)Transformations are unlocked by hard training and not just joining hands and getting massive power up, or getting power by just coincidence
4)Z fighters had more value

6) Power Levels were more something back then

Honestly, one of my favorite parts about Super was the calmer moments and the conversations some characters had with each other. Bulma talking to Jaco and Goku and Jaco and that squid interacting and Goku and Vegeta talking about how they love the fiercer sides of Bulma and Chichi, with Vegeta revealing that it's because of their Saiyan blood while Piccolo is having a crisis in the background, or when Goku and 17 talked in that island before the tournament and Goku straight up said that he wasn't a hero and all that. These conversations are really interesting and it's fun to see these characters interacting like this. I feel like in Z the world was just CONSTANTLY in danger and there wasn't much time to slow things down and focus on these kind of things but Super does that really well.

The thing is, the U6 Saiyans were much more powerful than the U7 saiyans. In Z it seems to me there is a particular power level that must be achieved and then a triger to achieve super saiyan. Not only were the U6 saiyans way more powerful in base but their genetics were different as well. As far as the tingly back thing Im sure there would be many sensations you would feel if you could transform and radically alter your strength. Imagine being able to mutate on command. I also loved how they were able to make things out of their Ki. Like that time Golu planted landmines for Jiren and stuff.. Or making weapons out of Ki. I think those were cool.

I def agree that we need other characters in the spot light, though Super has done that well too actually, giving us Trunks as the hero of a story that had SSGSS Vegito, and 17 as the last man standing in the ToP while Goku shared the final push alongside Frieza for one of the best fight sequences in the series next to DBS: Broly lol. I have a feeling we'll see more when the time comes.

I want some more Dragon Ball Online story elements to start coming into play because toriyama wrote the plot for that game, plots like: Tenshinhan's New Crane School which has sort of happened in super, Kuririn becoming the master of the New Turtle School, Goten and Trunks start their own school called the Kikoukenjutsu or Qigong Swordsmanship probably inspired by Future Trunks, Gohan and Yamucha's sword use; Gohan writes a scientific book on Ki Control for Martial Artist, King Kai actually teaches the Earth's populace to use the Kaioken, and Yardrats come to Earth to teach their techniques to Earthlings now likely inspired by Vegeta and Goku learning from them. These need to happen at least after the Moro Arc.

Some of these weren't bad points, like handeling Broly, or introducing female super saiyans, but here is a couple big issues I personally had with it. 1: Yes they introduced female saiyans and even super saiyans, but they picked up on super Saiyan so quickly that it seemed unearned, and then super Saiyan 2 as well. Kale was better as she has the same power as Broly, but still, it felt cheap. 2: They did in fact explain the fusion breaking, but it seems like they only did that because they realized that the fans were creating different answers and wanted to create something concrete. they wrote themselves into a hole and had to dig their way out, and while the fans had great ideas, they were tossed away because once again they wrote themselves into a hole with merged zamasu and had to dig their way out. 3: Future trunks was handled terribly, inconsistent time line problems in both z and here with Mai's age, and also the spirit sword was bs though I did like that he reached ssj2, the problem was that he was once again painted as incredibly powerful only to then become useless immediately. 4: The jokes, simply are not that great in my opinion. They seemed to take inspiration from TFS and made Goku into a bumbling idiot who thought kissing was yucky, and while we never seen him kiss chi-chi no one denied that he should have considering the wedding. 5: Speaking of inconsistency's, trunks in the main timeline is messed up as well, he is supposed to be what? 13 here. . . he hasn't grown at all since he was 8 and we seen him at this age in the special where he looked much bigger. They literally only did this to have him and Mai at the same age because of his future self but that don't make sense because that mai never got reverted and should be closer to 60 by now if not older. These are just a few issues, I have many more. Honestly while not perfect the manga was a lot better.

Just to piggyback, I feel that Goku and Vegeta’s relationship throughout the course of DBZ and DBS has progressed in accordance to time the way it should have, therefor saying that they depicted their relationship better in Super than in Z isnt even a fair comparison. DBZ wasnt setup for them to be complete friends just yet since Vegeta was still angry at how far Goku has surpassed him in strength still. Also, idc about something being cannon or not, DBS definitely has more fillers than Z. You can literally watch “Battle of Gods” and “Return of Freeza” then start at the tournament and be caught up with the series. Tis all
@@Beezus-93 thank you, I've been a huge fan since I started with the first episode of Dragon ball. Super is definitely filler and none of it makes any sense. Okay technique over power sure, I agree with that, but in a tornament with people who can blow up planets and even solar systems by simply powering up, Roshi, Tien, Krillin should have died instantly surrounded by all of that. C17 and 18 should have been taken out quickly. Piccolo and Gohan should have held on for a bit, but let's be real here only gods stood a real chance so Frieza, Goku, and Vegeta were the only ones that should have made it through especially after Goku reached ultra instinct and Vegeta mastered ssjb. The other seven should have been fodder, and I hate saying that because Gohan Piccolo and Krillin are some of my favorite characters.

@LeftTheNegotiator Yeah they mentioned that kinder Saiyans produce more S-Cells which boosts their potential to go Super, if they concentrate it all in one spot and merge it with their Ki in one big energy explosion, they'll most likely unlock super for a bit atleast. That's why Gohan had trouble turning super in the Hyperbolic Time Chamber, he didn't have that rage that made his blood flow and energy burst, that was until 16 was killed and he snapped releasing all his energy.
Caulifla and Cabba call it back tingles cause they're talking in a more chill, non-chalant way. So uh, yeah that's how it goes

Dragon Ball Super definitely did not have higher stakes. Not once did I feel like things were going to end badly. Only time I thought it felt remotely close to that was during the Goku Black Arc.

I personally prefered the episode Goku and Piccolo learned how to drive in dbz more than all the fillers DBS showed for comedy purposes. Making Arale go toe to toe with god tier Goku and Vegeta wasn't comedy it only made them look bad. Their god forms are not supposed to be a joke.

I’m assuming you missed this in the dbs movie since they were only in the background but Bardock’s gang that got killed in Z by Dodoria and those other 3 guys were seen in the background with the other saiyans while king cold was introducing Frieza. And Toyotoro drew them in their dbs outfits moments before Dodoria killed them so they couldn’t contact Bardock so I’d still consider them canon. They even had some other key moments that were offscreen from the bardock special in the dbs broly movie like bardocks fight with Frieza men outside the ship since Bardock’s armor was damaged like in the original non-canon version

Let’s be perfectly clear though. #2 as described isn’t “raising the stakes” from a narrative perspective. That entire bit is just crediting super for having “stronger” foes and greater jumps in power leveling/scaling. Because to say that DBS “raises the stakes” better or more than DBZ is really hard to argue considering that’s one of DBZ’s greatest strengths. Considering the framing of Dragonball coming into Z you have things like Goku immediately fighting for for the life of his young son teaming up with the big bad of the previous series and giving up his life to do it, saving the earth from the saiyans, traveling to Namek and preventing Frieza a galactic level threat which latently becomes Goku avenging and protecting the legacy a heritage he just recently had to accept (Goku initially didn’t accept that he was a saiyan like Raditz but by the Frieza Saga he’s almost fighting with his entire race on his back Among other things). There’s a need to save the Future AND the past...to change DESTINY to save causality, Gohan has to overcome his feelings of weakness and inadequacy to save the world from Cell to become the strongest or risk losing not only his life but everything and everyone he loves (Gohan being a much more emotionally involved/attached character than even his father) and having his father’s sacrifice be in vain...not able to fill the shoes of his father who believed in him if he failed, etc. The stakes are EXTREMELY high and are gradually raised throughout DBZ on the individual, personal and literal power levels. DBS is so busy marginalizing their own characters and story it really can’t compare the the depth and drama of Z. It’s like DBS doesn’t even respect itself enough to take itself seriously as a story. It feels cheap. Not the production value but the writing itself. So many cheap cop outs and cliche anime tropes used carelessly and without thought imo. But yeah ultimately you can’t say DBZ didn’t do a great job of handling what was at stake and raising those stakes for everyone on so many different levels outside of “who is stronger than who”.
Also I want to add that it doesn’t help Super that they have the Beerus and Whis characters hang around who are immediately interpreted to be so strong that most of the conflict in Super could have been snuffed out without any trouble had the aforementioned two ever decided to stop being joke characters by nature and actually get involved in the fights to save everyone. Also until the narrative is adjusted slightly at the very end in the Tournament of Power the fact that from the beginning we know Goku and Vegeta have access to Super Saiyan Blue makes every and all fights where they start fighting in SSJ1 or SSJ2 feel like “this fight is a wash and Goku could easily turn SSB and disintegrate this guy if he was really trying”. It cheapens most of the fights. ToP starts to highlight SSB and SSG can’t be used for long durations because of strain which was nice but that got attention WAY too late like towards the end. For what it’s worth the pre use for ToP being a ring out free for all tournament was cool but wish they did more with it. For like half a second it made other characters that weren’t SSB level fighters relevant for a bit which was refreshing if not short lived.

It seems that everybody is complaining about the animation, so I'm here to clear this up: It is not the animator's fault, it was due to a short time period to animate between each episode, resulting in them putting rough drafts in place of a finished piece of animation, a lot of people will say that it's due to inexperienced animators which is not true, a lot of the animators there were actually veterans from DBZ such as, Masahiro Shimanuki, Hiroyuki Itai, Osamu Ishikawa, Yoshitaka Yashima, Hirotaka Nii, Shuichiro Manabe, Yuichi Karasawa, Futoshi Higashide, Noaki Tate, and the legend.... Naotoshi Shida! But anyways, please don't hate on Dragon Ball Super for it's animation, hate on the people that gave the animators very little time to complete the episodes.

Curious, however, I was less impressed with Karot Cake's dimwttedness. It is the opposite of what we see in his character development coming near the end of Boo Arch. His second point. Though, the comedy, when stated, was good from what I've heard, it ended up taking away from what should have a more serious adult-themed tone. I agree that Super did a better job of potentially raising the stakes with the threats. But, that was to be expected, and they did deliver. Super had many, many good ideas, but me and others feel they underperformed with the writing. Whereas they expanded the universe and introduced other gods. The character development, personality, and design left much to be desired. TOP, great concept. Some cool characters. But poor delivery, some very nonsensical feats within the DB(S) universe, and not enough backstory to support new concepts-Super tried to devote a lot more to the character development of the main characters and others. But how they made them was very childish. They addressed many of the issues of taking back the characters sidelined in Z to some extent. But, when they wrote more for the Z characters, who were sidelined to the extent in Z. They seemed to have arguably botched them. Making them childish, against who they were in Z either making them weaker or nonsensically stronger than they should be. Relative to karot Cakes training and Veggies'. I will give sup a W here though, and I'll say this: all the new forms in Sup were much more creative and cool. They stacked the main two, Veggie and Karot very well. The same cannot be said for others, though. The OG brolly none cannon was arguably better. But that isn't a biggie because both had good writing, with the best animation seen from the new one yet. Though, his feats still don't make much sense. But then, neither did Jiren's.
The best animation in super was better than the best animation in z, but the overall animation was better in z, at least in my opinion

How about you try to be an animator for a popular series on a really rushed time schedule trying to replicate Akira Toriyama's art style for about 3500 - 5000 keyframes (which for even skilled animators could take a hour or two) for every single episode , not to mention the in between frames which smooth the animation out.

DBS does a better job making villains unique and interesting. Cell and Majin Buu are essentially the same villain. They don't even have their own attacks which I always thought was stupid. Zamasu in Super is my favorite villain since Freeza. Not only does he have very cool original powers, there is actual depth to his character.

DRAGON BALL: ORIGIN OF THE DRAGON BALLS
1) Roshi has no idea what they are and trades his for a look at Bulma's "panties".
2) Roshi knows exactly what they are - they were original a single crystal in the mouth a Dragon Statue belonging to a prosperous clan of monks. It was broken into 7 when bandits invaded.
3) Roshi reminds everyone what they are - powerful objects made by the HUMAN Guardian of the Earth.
4) That ruler was Kami who made them to test & reward man kinds perseverance over adversity.
5) Kami is an alien from a race that makes them habitually for no real reason.
6) Kami sucked at making Dragon Balls and Guru can make really good ones and a kid from Namek can make ones much better than his.

DRAGON BALL: CHARACTER PLOT HOLES
1) Turtle reveals Roshi gained long life by drinking from the fountain of youth. They forget this later.
2) The Namek Saga took so long to write that Toriyama forgot the character Launch existed.
3-a) Roshi explains that Gohan told him Goku was found in a wicker basket amongst the reeds floating down river.
3-b) Roshi explains that Gohan told him that Goku was found in a spaceship that crashed in the mountains.
4) When starting DBSuper in response to the terrible insult that was the live action movie he forgot what colour of hair 18 had and made it Purple.
5-a) Upon hearing Raditz get winded by Gohan Nappa suggests enslaving & breeding with all the earth women to make a powerful Human/Saiyan hybrid army. Vegeta mentions he considered it but they offspring would be too powerful to control so wiping out the Human race was the better option.
5-b) Vegeta: "WHY ARE OUR CHILDREN SO POWERFUL!?!?!?!?!?!"
6) The Saibamen have 5000 power like Raditz. Raditz was so powerful he could move faster than light itself. Goku's power level is over 9000!... 7) Toriyama forgot that Gohan became a true Super Saiyan 2 to defeat Cell and called the long hair form Goku revealed as Super Saiyan 2 until an assistant corrected him. This is why nobody but kid Gohan ever hit SS2.
8-a) King Kai is the greatest martial artists in the living world and the afterlife and rules over everything! But is somehow weaker than Frieza and terrified of him.
8-b) King Kai is actually only 1 of 4 equally stationed Kai's who share rule of the Galaxy in 4 quadrants. They all serve under the Grand Kai! Who is weaker than all of them combined.
8-c) Turns out Grand Kai is just middle management between the Supreme Kai and the 4 Kai's and King Kai serves no purpose what so ever.

He meant to say "Goku is now able to stack his KK on top of SSJB". Also, Autonomous Ultra Instinct is a Technique for the Gods. Mortals like Goku have to undergo a transformation in order to obtain the form. Gods like beerus can easily activate Ultra instinct at will (Manga).

they are alright, I like Hit and some of the neat fighters near the end better though. those 2 girls were basically a stepping stone to show off what goku can do now, rather than being important. if they get more screen time in a future saga, maybe that will change.

Beerus and the Supreme Kai died in his timeline so there was no way he could have learned about God ki and thus how to ascend to God level.

Super was very bad. Plot was good, storytelling was bad and i dont like the modern art although it got better towards the end
So I clicked on this to have a good laugh, but what I got wasn't laughs. Literally everything this guy said was wrong and infuriating instead. Compared to Super, Z had no faults at all. Notice what I just said. COMPARED TO SUPER, Z had no faults. In reality, Z absolutely had flaws, but Super as a whole was flawed from the beginning and only got worse until it ended. I actually could sit here and go though every single point and explain why it's wrong, but let's be real...no one is going to read it. Honestly, even GT is better. Much better in fact. GT also had major flaws, but nowhere near as much as Super. DBS was so bad that it actually made some people watch GT and they came out and said "Oh. You know what? It's not as bad as I thought.". That's right. DBS made GT better than what people thought for those who actually watched it. I don't hate Super by any means...but it could have been SO much better than what it was. Not better than Z for what we were given, but better than what we got.
Super at least made a lot more sense than z did for me.
Dragonball Z is a pure Masterpiece. Super on the other hand is mediocre period. Except for the movie it was good but still lacked sense of scale though!

I was skepticle there were this many things 'better' but I admit most of this was true except comparing a 2019 full funded movie's animation to a 1990s anime.. especially when most of supers actual animation is awful with next to no fight choreography at all.
Anybody else think this guy's points are just bad... For example
1. Comedy in Z was far and few between but felt great and was funny. As for Super there was a lot of comedy but it felt very childish and stupid. (Pretty sure I didn't laugh throughout the entire Super series until the broly movie came out.)
2. He argues that Super Trunks is better than Z Trunks because he plays a bigger role in Super and doesn't get "sidelined" like he did in Z. I'm pretty sure that everyone loved Z Trunks much more and I definitely don't think he got sidelined in Z just because he didn't kill the villain.
3. For some reason he puts a huge emphasis on Kale and Kefla just because they are female saiyans and goes as far as to say "they are interesting characters and a major breath of fresh air." Kale and kefla where characters pretty much made just for fan service and had some of the worst power scaling and character development I've ever seen in a DB character and because of that pretty much the entire fan base hated them. (Even Japanese fans didn't like them.)
And the list goes on. this is just 3 examples.
