This is the best video on this topic ! Thank you. I have a 06 v8 and sometimes when the engine is hot it takes two attempts to start the car. I also get P0171/0174 lean codes at times. I have changed the maf, fuel filter, fuel rail pressure sensor. I think this the Fuel Pump is the last piece in the puzzle.
Thank you! My 2000 Jaguar will not start, it turns over, but will not start. I believe it is the gas pump also. It was running before my wife stopped driving it about six months ago.
Cheers mate I watched your video and replaced the fuel pump on my S-type Jaguar 2000 it was a brilliant video and because of your help I did mine myself and works great now. I owe you a pint. Thanks a lot, Dave from Liverpool England
Thanks for the EXCELLENT step by step instructions. I just changed the fuel pump on my 2001 S-type. Back running like a charm for under $20. My local service shop quoted me almost $700, who knows what Jaguar Service cost would be. Thanks very much!
Thank you Dr. Jag For your video I have a Jaguar S type I took off the fuel pump and I can’t put back the plastic not ring can you tell me how to put it back thank you
When that calanoid goes bad does it stop working altogether or does it gradually work less and less? I can hear mine turn on like it is working, but my engine codes and low fuel pressure indicate it is the problem. I'm wondering if it can go bad while still turning on.
So Mr. Jag dr jag..i have a question. 2002 x type 3.0 v6, having a p1316 code i believe. And i read online the code is states idm..injector driver misfire. Where is this at? Ive done all injectors. Coils and plugs. No i have multiple misfires and cylinder 3 4 5 misfire permanently.idles rough but at 250p rpm it starts to run better, but my issue i cant find anything online pointing at what causes this code. I looked up the code and it shows only ford 7.3 powerstroke diesel v8 parts. Even when i type jaguar. Nothing comes up. But the scan tool says idm.
alright....super stupid question: when I raise the rear seat, i see a circular lid on the left and right. is it safe to assume that the pump is located on the side where the tank is? and if so,what is on the other side?
Always check battery voltage on these first. Less than 12.5v you will have lots of issues. First issue will be the fuel pump draws too much current and takes out the 15 amp fuse. Less than 12.3v and the pump,as with this one will not bother to help you out. Next the gearbox solenoids don't engage fully causing buzzing and dodgy shifting. sunroof loses position memory, throttle position and engine limp mode. All these are from low battery voltage, get a bargain s type that has been standing for a few weeks and charge the battery. No other car I've owned is so touchy about voltage. I have a 2000 4.0 s type, treat it like it's a hybrid electric and all will be good.
@@DrJag-iu4to good question, for eg. How to fix a fuel gauge not working on a 2005 jag s-type 4.2l. The possible reasons behind a fuel gauge not showing what's in the tank, not Moving basically. Is it a wire? How to replace the wire. Is the gauge? How to replace the gauge. Is it the sender? Etc.. Thank you so much for your time. ;)
Mark Hetkowski there is a circled attachment at the bottom when you have it open you will see all you do is just hold it with both hands and twist slightly and it will release. Let me know if I have more questions and if there’s other things you need help on so I can upload
Are you talking about the circle part on top rite after the plastic lid? If you are talking about that part there is a tool especially to remove that or u can be hitting on itcounter clock wise, there are stuck on pretty tight
Bit late but he means the step that was skipped in the video (removing the pump assembly from the tank). You have to pinch the two tags that protrude from the assembly at the top to release it from the tank.
Hi dr jag. I have a 2001 jaguar s type 4.0. Needs new fuel pump. Should we change only the left side or should be replaced. Sounds like the one on the right is a little different. Should we change the canister or just the insides. If I can’t find a way to do it for a reasonable price, I will have to send it to the dump. Thanks in advance.
alexander thegreat , by fuel gauge ? Do you mean on your dash board is it not reading how much fuel your car has ? Please explain what you are experiencing with the car
If your gauge isn’t reading correctly it’s the little lever on the fuel pump that’s bad, goes inside your gas tank. To test it you have to remove the pump and get a multimeter to test if it increase voltage and the lever is pushed up. But if ur dash isn’t showing then it could be a fuse.
alexander thegreat maybe? I’m not even sure what car you have. But if it’s not even working correctly you gotta take it to the dealer. But if it’s not reading correctly then it’s the lever on the pump. Float maybe came off or short circuited. Lots of maybes, worst case scenario it’s a short circuit because then u need a new pump. Take it the dealer if u can’t figure it out. Good luck!
This man is dangerous! First - you MUST disconnect the battery or risk fire and explosion! Disconnect the power feed to the pump BEFORE the fuel line just in case of a stray spark - not after the fuel has spilt like he did here! Have something handy to soak up the petrol as it spills. Keep any steel items away from the area in case of sparks.😳
Most of this is great. But you fail to show how the pump was fastened inside the fuel tank. This is not normal. The vast majority of fuel pumps are mounted to the cap and drop down into the tank. How is this held down inside the tank and how did you release it?

My Jag's in the shop right now -- they want $1,300 to change the fuel pump. Your video will allow me to fix it for $15! ¡Muchas gracias!

How do I get it off the clamps🤯
Awesome
Yeah! The tried to do me the same way! But, I already ordered from Amazon and only paid $10 for the part! Thank you
Great tutorial, I was having the same problem on my Jaguar as well! Got the part ordered and putting it on now! Thanks
Thank you Richie this video was very helpful I'm convinced I can change my fuel pump myself.

Is this the same for a 2004 s-type? Also, does the sending unit needs to be installed also?
Can you do a video on fuel injector replacement 🤔
Thanks had a fake mechanic switching mine out for an older one. Cameras paid off. But what's under the black cap on drivers side
Is the for the 4.0 V8 or the 3.0 s type?
Thanks bro
That's the fuel sending unit and return unit Right, so I the same line's for my jaguar s type 2000 3.0
Thanks for the video. Will this fuel works with a 2003 s type R as well ?
It’s going to be similar the type R is similar body type just larger and super charged, lift the seat and should be same concept
