metal to metal can spark!
Nickel Merci
Tank you
Is this the same for a 2004 s-type? Also, does the sending unit needs to be installed also?
Thank you very informative video❤ do you know how to get a 2001S type out of park?
When that calanoid goes bad does it stop working altogether or does it gradually work less and less? I can hear mine turn on like it is working, but my engine codes and low fuel pressure indicate it is the problem. I'm wondering if it can go bad while still turning on.
This video is the best!!! Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge!!! Great job!!!
My Jag's in the shop right now -- they want $1,300 to change the fuel pump. Your video will allow me to fix it for $15! ¡Muchas gracias!
Thanks for your video haven’t drove my 2000 jaguar since 2018 never taught I would be able to change fuel pump myself! Thanks again🎉
Thanks bro
God of Jags not just a Doc! You go deeper than anyone i know with these cars!
2003 S-type 3.0L is what I got.. with this particular car u CAN NOT drive with less than half a tank of 89 gas otherwise fuel pump goes to sleep..now if u have to wake it back up. then remove big black rubber on RT side n tap it 30 times with hammer
Thanks
Always check battery voltage on these first. Less than 12.5v you will have lots of issues. First issue will be the fuel pump draws too much current and takes out the 15 amp fuse. Less than 12.3v and the pump,as with this one will not bother to help you out. Next the gearbox solenoids don't engage fully causing buzzing and dodgy shifting. sunroof loses position memory, throttle position and engine limp mode. All these are from low battery voltage, get a bargain s type that has been standing for a few weeks and charge the battery. No other car I've owned is so touchy about voltage. I have a 2000 4.0 s type, treat it like it's a hybrid electric and all will be good.
On my S type the gauge is not working properly. Once it goes 1/2 tank then go straight to empty Should I change the fuel pump ?
No just the unit
Not a Solenoid... You're replacing the Actual Fuel Pump
That's the Actual Fuel Pump !!!
Great tutorial, I was having the same problem on my Jaguar as well! Got the part ordered and putting it on now! Thanks
This man is dangerous! First - you MUST disconnect the battery or risk fire and explosion! Disconnect the power feed to the pump BEFORE the fuel line just in case of a stray spark - not after the fuel has spilt like he did here! Have something handy to soak up the petrol as it spills. Keep any steel items away from the area in case of sparks.😳
Cheers mate I watched your video and replaced the fuel pump on my S-type Jaguar 2000 it was a brilliant video and because of your help I did mine myself and works great now. I owe you a pint. Thanks a lot, Dave from Liverpool England
Most of this is great. But you fail to show how the pump was fastened inside the fuel tank. This is not normal. The vast majority of fuel pumps are mounted to the cap and drop down into the tank. How is this held down inside the tank and how did you release it?
Cuz dude was messing with that too
Thanks had a fake mechanic switching mine out for an older one. Cameras paid off. But what's under the black cap on drivers side
alright....super stupid question: when I raise the rear seat, i see a circular lid on the left and right. is it safe to assume that the pump is located on the side where the tank is? and if so,what is on the other side?
That’s the fuel gauge sending unit if I’m not mistaken
That's the fuel sending unit and return unit Right, so I the same line's for my jaguar s type 2000 3.0
Thank you Richie this video was very helpful I'm convinced I can change my fuel pump myself.
Thanks for the EXCELLENT step by step instructions. I just changed the fuel pump on my 2001 S-type. Back running like a charm for under $20. My local service shop quoted me almost $700, who knows what Jaguar Service cost would be. Thanks very much!
How do I get it off the clamps🤯
Awesome
Yeah! The tried to do me the same way! But, I already ordered from Amazon and only paid $10 for the part! Thank you
Dr Jag. Doesn't like mechanics but works on customers cars.hmm
Is the for the 4.0 V8 or the 3.0 s type?
I’m having trouble taking the pump out
the shop wants to charge me $1200+ to change the fuel pump in a 2005 Jag S type 3.0ltr. Which fuel pump should I buy? I have a mech who will replace it for $300 Thanks :)
What you keep calling a solenoid, is the actual fuel pump.

Thanks bro that video was great I bought fuel pump and installed my self because of your video saved me some money !!!!
Thank you Dr. Jag For your video I have a Jaguar S type I took off the fuel pump and I can’t put back the plastic not ring can you tell me how to put it back thank you
Can you do a video on fuel injector replacement 🤔
Hi dr jag. I have a 2001 jaguar s type 4.0. Needs new fuel pump. Should we change only the left side or should be replaced. Sounds like the one on the right is a little different. Should we change the canister or just the insides. If I can’t find a way to do it for a reasonable price, I will have to send it to the dump. Thanks in advance.
I'd use nitrile gloves when dipping fingers in petrol. That aside, very useful video!
Thanks for the video ...love it great job I can do mine know
So Mr. Jag dr jag..i have a question. 2002 x type 3.0 v6, having a p1316 code i believe. And i read online the code is states idm..injector driver misfire. Where is this at? Ive done all injectors. Coils and plugs. No i have multiple misfires and cylinder 3 4 5 misfire permanently.idles rough but at 250p rpm it starts to run better, but my issue i cant find anything online pointing at what causes this code. I looked up the code and it shows only ford 7.3 powerstroke diesel v8 parts. Even when i type jaguar. Nothing comes up. But the scan tool says idm.
Thank you! My 2000 Jaguar will not start, it turns over, but will not start. I believe it is the gas pump also. It was running before my wife stopped driving it about six months ago.
Help I broke the two clamps to the gas lines..
smoking adventure with cape you can use a zip tie
LOVE THE VIDEO IT WAS PRETTY GOOD
Did anybody else have a hard time taking off the red connector hose ??
Yes live 2001 sometimes those houses can be very stubborn can you keep trying I'll come off
you didnt show how you actually removed it from the tank it seems to be fixed somewhere in the tank...not refering to the top
tony palermo did you figure something about this step
Garbage video........ YOU SKIPPED THE MOST IMPORTANT STEP. ....... This video teaches NOTHING! ..... HOW DO YOU "RELEASE-RELEASE-RELEASE-RELEASE-RELEASE the pump from the tank??????? You looked down in the tank but YOU JUST SKIPPED TO THE PART where the FUEL PUMP is out. Terrible waste of time VIDEO. GARBAGE!!!!!!
There are clamps set at the base you can unclick them.
@@onp6021 That was forever ago. Your response is TARDY & no longer applicable. I figured it out on my own 2 years ago.
Car cranks all electronics work but fuel pump does not prime 2005 s type
He my dad
Good job daddy keep up the good work
How to fix a fuel gauge not working? Wire? Sender? Gauge? How to check what's breaking and fix it. Thank you! :)
alexander thegreat , by fuel gauge ? Do you mean on your dash board is it not reading how much fuel your car has ? Please explain what you are experiencing with the car
If your gauge isn’t reading correctly it’s the little lever on the fuel pump that’s bad, goes inside your gas tank. To test it you have to remove the pump and get a multimeter to test if it increase voltage and the lever is pushed up. But if ur dash isn’t showing then it could be a fuse.
@@DrJag-iu4to yes the reading.
@@haxbtc758 could it be the wire from the lever/pump to the relay (to dashboard) ?
alexander thegreat maybe? I’m not even sure what car you have. But if it’s not even working correctly you gotta take it to the dealer. But if it’s not reading correctly then it’s the lever on the pump. Float maybe came off or short circuited. Lots of maybes, worst case scenario it’s a short circuit because then u need a new pump. Take it the dealer if u can’t figure it out. Good luck!
The part in question around 9:50 is the fuel pump
Thank you
Hello, Where are you located? If you're interested I'd like to get some simple work done on mine. Thank you. The video is awesome! Have a great day.
I’m in Las Vegas , and thank you I will be posting more soon please share in all social media I’d appreciate it
alexander thegreat, I’m located in Las Vegas what type of work were you trying to get done I might be able to post a video that might help
@@DrJag-iu4to good question, for eg. How to fix a fuel gauge not working on a 2005 jag s-type 4.2l. The possible reasons behind a fuel gauge not showing what's in the tank, not Moving basically. Is it a wire? How to replace the wire. Is the gauge? How to replace the gauge. Is it the sender? Etc.. Thank you so much for your time. ;)
Dr. Jag Hi Dr. Jag, great video! I am trying to restart my 2000 S Type (it’s been sitting for quite a while) and would also like to get your advice...
