@@prime6220 Yeah you can pull the safety, which detaches all lines from you except 1. With the kite tensioned on only 1 line it cannot generate power and will fall out of the sky. If you are still in danger you can pull the leash which completely detaches you from the kite (kite might be lost tho). However, a lot of accidents happen so fast that people don't have time or think about pulling the safety mechanisms. And then, if you are not thorough with lines checks etc, there is also ways in which the lines and bar can get tangled in such a way that the safety mechanisms do not work.

Well that settles that, my kite surfing fantasies have come to an end. Was curious if it was something I could still pick up at an older age considering I’m in half way decent shape. My curiosity has been satisfied. There will be no kite surfing for me 😂
Ohhhh bullshit.. these all were inexperienced people in way too high of winds for their skill level. It's alot to learn but it's damn worth it. I go out in minimum winds because it's safer and less waves. 14 meter kite in 12 knot winds. Absolutely amazing fun.

This would be one the coolest things ever to try . Love snowboarding and skating. But I would be way too afraid of sharks. The other injuries scare me less
@lhomme9327 I once spent good 3 hours with bleeding knee in the Caribbean waters. Haven't managed to attract even a single reef shark (seen occasionally in the local waters). Was even somewhat dissappointed - thanks to mosquitos I used to think my blood is delicious. :)

All is beautiful as long as things go well... boxing race-motorbiking, paragliding, etc.... Still after or later things can go wrong.... This is why I prefer windsurfing: it is safer for you and it is safer for the people around you...
@@martintornborg7072 It's not usually this bad. Most of these are people doing extreme things you wouldn't be attempting for years. huge jumps, jumping over things etc. It is a lot of work to learn though.
These are extreme cases. It can be scary but these people are in very high winds and also aren't hitting the quick release/eject like you're supposed to. It quickly releases you from the kite but none of these people did that. You can go in lower winds just using a larger kite and then you don't have to deal with as big of waves. You definitely have to choose a safe place and conditions. It's definitely not for everyone. But I find the learning process well worth the reward. Theres absolutely nothing like it that I've found and I fly ultralights and certified airplanes and do all sorts of things. Snowboarding, water skiing, snowmobiling.. ect.. kitesurfing is absolutely amazing.

There's 2 safety releases you can pull. First depowers the kite. Usually resulting it in stop flying. Second one completely ditches it. The trick is getting it back after pulling the second release though
