@@KitesurfingOfficial wow, didn't know it could be so dangerous or at least to say painfull. We are used to see great looking ladies making acrobatic figures in air with their astonishing physique. Its amazing how they look way more beatifull and natural, much better then model ladies on revial runways...
Btw, can they "unhook" themselves like with some fast-release mechanism on their rope if they see aproaching ground or rocks to prevent accidents & getting hurt???
@@prime6220 Yeah you can pull the safety, which detaches all lines from you except 1. With the kite tensioned on only 1 line it cannot generate power and will fall out of the sky. If you are still in danger you can pull the leash which completely detaches you from the kite (kite might be lost tho).
However, a lot of accidents happen so fast that people don't have time or think about pulling the safety mechanisms. And then, if you are not thorough with lines checks etc, there is also ways in which the lines and bar can get tangled in such a way that the safety mechanisms do not work.

Well that settles that, my kite surfing fantasies have come to an end.
Was curious if it was something I could still pick up at an older age considering I’m in half way decent shape. My curiosity has been satisfied. There will be no kite surfing for me 😂
Ohhhh bullshit.. these all were inexperienced people in way too high of winds for their skill level. It's alot to learn but it's damn worth it. I go out in minimum winds because it's safer and less waves. 14 meter kite in 12 knot winds. Absolutely amazing fun.
I started at 55….. decided to call it a day at 76….didn’t want to become a liability to others as my agility and awareness declined.

@@KitesurfingOfficial I moved to kite. If it were not for the light gear and physical ease, windsurfing brings more, is less dangerous, tqkes way less space and nitwits are less of danger to others than in kite. But kite is easy and way less demanding.
I am going to be fair and say that most of these accidents are just idiots not knowing what they are doing.

Ok so I thought kite surfing would be cool and fun-easy to learn. Then I saw these crashes....
Same here. Was thinking about learning it now it seems a bit scary
@@martintornborg7072 It's not usually this bad. Most of these are people doing extreme things you wouldn't be attempting for years. huge jumps, jumping over things etc.
It is a lot of work to learn though.
These are extreme cases. It can be scary but these people are in very high winds and also aren't hitting the quick release/eject like you're supposed to. It quickly releases you from the kite but none of these people did that. You can go in lower winds just using a larger kite and then you don't have to deal with as big of waves. You definitely have to choose a safe place and conditions. It's definitely not for everyone. But I find the learning process well worth the reward. Theres absolutely nothing like it that I've found and I fly ultralights and certified airplanes and do all sorts of things. Snowboarding, water skiing, snowmobiling.. ect.. kitesurfing is absolutely amazing.

I got an ideal! Let's directly attach a big kite to ourselves with no way to detach from it so it can at any time violently drag our bodies over rocks, branches, into trees and slam us into objects and see if we survive it! Cool man let's do it!

Shark attacks on kitesurfers are extremely rare. They much prefer regular surfers due to the shape of the board and the fact that they spend most of their time just sitting there on their belly hoping to catch a wave. If you are a half-decent kitesurfer you don't actually spend enough time in the water for a shark to see you as prey.
@@KitesurfingOfficial Your chances of dying while snowkiting are much higher than kitesurfing, sharks or none. That's like telling somebody they should try base jumping if they are scared of a plane crash
@@lhommeaudacieux I once spent good 3 hours with bleeding knee in the Caribbean waters. Haven't managed to attract even a single reef shark (seen occasionally in the local waters). Was even somewhat dissappointed - thanks to mosquitos I used to think my blood is delicious. :)

Painful just to watch this never mind being one of the participants.
Guy that hit the rocks was going so fast he didn't have an edge. If you don't have an edge you'll go downwind. Way to prevent this. Set a boundary away from objects in your head that if you get too close you pull your safety. 2. Before you reach that boundary get your edge back by slowing down, put kite at 12, regain edge and head upwind. When I was first learning I would always be caught in this predicament of going too fast and downwind not holding an edge. Thankfully the only thing downwind was more water. That leads to 3. Learn each condition and kite (high wind low wind) in controlled safer areas until you have tons of time under your belt. There's way's to mitigate these scenarios. Things will go wrong. You must have a plan to reduce risk.
