- This explains 7 different kiteboarding accidents in detail. Hopefully learning from these will help people avoid the mistakes of the past.
Thanks so much to all of the uploaders. It's not easy to show the world your worst moments, but your clip may well save someone's life. Power kites are complex, powerful and often counter-intuitive - your best way of staying safe is to take plenty of lessons.

Yep
At last we got to meet the face behind this distinct voice!
Really good videos👍
Finally we got to see the face behind the awesome videos. Great Job.
I have watched a lot of videos on kite surfing this year as Im new to the sport and on my 6th lesson and I have to say Kite-Surf-College Tutorials are the closest you will get to actually having lessons which is a MUST for this sport. Thank you for your efforts in make these tutorials.
Respect the wind it will always win!
Agree with everything except for it's a "MUST" to have lessons. With so many UA-cam tutorials, you really don't need lessons if you do your research and better to spend that money on gear. Greetings.
@@x78340 I think you can learn Kitesurfing together with an experienced friend, but you should not try learning it all by yourself. You're putting not only your own life but also the life of others at risk.
What a diction ! 🙂
Seeing on the guy standing next to his kite at self launch attempt, the last kiter is just too stupid for the sport. He's not an exception unfortunately.
@@x78340 Proving you have no clue about the world of a difference between theory and reality my friend. If your absurd statement was even remotely close to being correct, we'd all be champions at many things. Are you ten??
Spot-on analysis on that last scenario! I can't believe there are thumbs down on this video - ignore that crap and keep sharing your wisdom. You have by far the most useful kitesurf channel online!
Great video. A lot of salutary lessons here. I've been kiting for 18 years...not regularly...and since I had a death loop in the water yesterday it reawoke me to how quickly things can go wrong. Thanks for making and posting.👍
Alarming but very useful, first few clips I couldn't spot the errors. By the end I was yelling at the screen. Helpful stuff cheers
Great video with analysis. I have developed for myself a pre-launch very quick checklist (2 second) that I am using all the time and it helps me to avoid silly mistake. It's spelled KITE and it's symbolic.
K is for checking (K)Quick Release, put my hand on it to know where it is and which direction to eject, so I don't have to find it.
I is for checking the LINES, straight, no twist and correctly hooked
T is for checking the SafeTy leash for being correctly hooked up
E is for checking the Environment, wind, people, other kiters, hard obstacles on land, etc.
It takes me 2 seconds to check while the launcher helper is holding the kite, since I use my hand to run through the list. I have stopped few mishaps before they happened with this checklist. I just post it here so you can develop your own checklist and FWIW
Nice and clever :)
You really needed that shitty acronym to remember those steps?
That acronym makes no sense, none of the letters match the actual word lool

Great idea. Thanks for sharing. I’m going to borrow this
I love this video. I am nearly 50 years and Kite for 3 years and consider myselve unexperienced. I witnessed a very nasty Kitemare from an unexperienced young kiter while launchingnhis Kite way to coureagous. We had to pull his tongue out of his throat to avoid he would suffocate, his cheekboan and nose were broken and he was unconcious for nearly 5 minutes. He is alright now. However it made us extra aware of the fact that launching a Kite is no joke and must be taken utterly serious. It is very important to check your lines and surroundings under every condition, and take your time.
THE FLYING DUTCHMAN Here is another nearly 50-er, which just had 3 blocks lessons on beautiful Sardinia. How is the learning curve for us? These videos do make you aware of the risks and the way you should always use the safety steps. I have 2 sons, 14 and 16, who also need to start learning, which I will show them this video. great tips. Where are you kiting, at sea or in country? I will be at Strand Horst/Friesland. Now looking for a good board length. 136cm or 140cm. Which is the best kitesurf forum in NL?
K from now on I'll have my hand on the 2nd safety- "if you start to get dragged it's too late to look for your safety."
Omg huuuuuuge truth!!! Thanks for this line.🙏🏽 I will train my muscle memory at home.
Rearrange your safety so it fully releases kite if you pull it. Just letting go of the bar will stop 80-90% of the power. If this doesn’t work something Is f’d up and the first release won’t do anything. Your kite is not worth your life
Every new rider should be required to watch this video before going out. Such a great video to learn what to do when shit goes sideways. It is so easy to say "WTF is happening" and not know what to do. I had a recent experience when my kite got inverted and was dragging me across the channel. Fucking sketch. Thanks for this compilation and the solid advice!!
I had a close call in Boracay early this year due to the tangled powerline. (I was in a hurry to go out to save/help my windsurfer friend who was stuck in the rip currents where coral reeves were sharp and shallow). I was able to release the leash within 2 seconds when I realized I was in trouble although I got lifted about 3-4 ft in the air. Other than my ego, I did not get hurt. People will always think that something like this will happen only to other people until it happens to you.. (Thank you so much for the important info!!)
Would also like to see one on launching with the kite too far upwind. I've seen so many new kiters have kites rolling over other kites and people. Before giving a thumbs up make sure the kite isn't fluttering from being underpowered. The kite should be steerable and literally trying to launch out of the launchers hand.
Thanks Erik, yes I've seen that many times as well. I'll put a demo of that in the new version of the launching video.
One of the best kiteboarding video ever.👍
Thank you so much! I've seen all of those kitemares but did not really understand what was going on. Now I do and i know what to do to prevent being in such a kitemare
Thank you so much for this life saving material
Thank you! Great way to learn to avoid these mistakes. Appreciated!
best video yet. extremely informative.
Great job and a face to my favorite tutorials.
Must see for any kiter. Well done!

This video might save just Lives, THANKS !
Many Thanks from Italy, very clear explained!
Super good explanation. Very good lessons and situations. Good for everyone!!!
Im on my third kitesurf lesson and i have to say i find the kite really powerfull and dangerous, you have lots of responsibility in kitesurfing actually.
As per usual, BEST VIDEOS EVER. Thanks for the great tips
These videos are so well done and explained many thanks for this they really do help
Thank you! For sure I will switch leash from back to front!
me too
just realized that my leash is on the back
What a brilliant presention. 14 weeks still recoverying after kitemare
Great video man, never seen anyone do one like this in all the years I've been kiting.
This is a really good video. A little chilling - but will definitely help fight off complacency in my kiting, particularly when setting up.
Thanks for publishing, good to watch this again before I commence another season.
Thank you very much!!! Please still do it this type of movies!!
Thank you for the safety tips! Who knows how many people you've saved!!
thanks indeed and thanks a lot!!! after 5 years I just understand that I was using "suicide" leash connection! definitelyy I will change it!
As always, excellent tutorials, clearly communicated
Thank you very much, you are doing a great contribution to our sport and lifestyle.
Thanks! Your vids are always very helpful and well done!
Thank you for these videos, wish I had watched more of them when i was learning!
Kitemare scenario typical of gusty Utah. Wind stops, kite stalls into power zone, Force V gust comes and hot launches you into the next dimension.
I also wore a raft helmet and Dakine floaty vest when i was learning. Of course you will look like the regional ambassador of Kook nation but as a beginner you gotta take every precaution so you can live to kite another day!
Tony & Susan here, outstanding video , my sessions are many months apart and your expertise really helps me get back out there when I can. you are a great teacher of kite skills.
I had two of these happen to myself during my 5 years of kiting, being careful and everything, luckily reacted properly on both intuitively and nothing happened. These videos are really important
Thank you so much for making these Videos. Appreciate it. Always fly safe ✌️
Excellent videos and explanation. Thank you so much for the great effort in making these.
Great Video, straight talking and no bull. V informative
Excellent video, very helpful information for those who are starting in this beautiful sport.
Thank you! This video will help many to avoid dangerous situations!
Thank you! Very helpful advices.
Incredibly helpful. Thank you for this video.
Got my kite gear and am waiting my turn for my classes. These are very well explained and I'll be watching it a few times. Thanks for the video, to all those who let us see their mistakes and for Kite-Surf-College reenacting them with the proper skills. Great job! :)
Honestly this was great to understand how dangerous the sport can be. I'm trying to get into it and take lesson. But this makes me more timid. Looks too fun to not try though.
Perfect format of videos!
Thank you for your professional work 😎
Great video! I am starting lessons in a week or so, and this is some great info to keep in mind!
Thank you for this great video! All of kiteboarders need to see this, you never know when something will go wrong
Security’s hik
I never want to see anybody get hurt but this is very helpful. Accidents are preventable. Study, train, be careful, safety first, know your skill level, and safety first!
very good safety tutorial, thank you!!
realy good work! thx (-:
marking and explanation helps a lot.
Thanks for doing this. Greatly informative
Thank you for this video. It can save many lifes.
Very good. always helps to go over safety measures. Think Safety First. Thanks!
Excellent Video!!! Thank you so much
Thanks for sharing your knowledge with the kiting community. The availability of kite launches depends upon kiters being courteous and safe.
Another great tutorial! You asked for other kitemares: A kitemare that happened to me a few times is an inversion of the kite, another one the bridle around the wingtip when kite dropped in the water after a backstall at low wind
Good video! Very usefull !! Some easy misstakes that could have been prevented by checking your lines before launching. So important 👍🏻
Excellent video mate. Massive thanks!
awesome video - all of the kite-surf college videos rock.
Very good examples and solutions. Well presented and understandable. Well done!
Horrific, but many thanks. You changed my kite attitude for the positive
Just found your channel!
It's great to learn about kiting!
Great video, I love your content it’s awesome.
I have had a few...
I had a line come undone at beach launch
Chicken loop come off bending over to pick up board
Lines twisted at self launch...
Hitting the beach trying to get out with onshore wind
All horrible experiences with luck escapes
Excellent, slow motion explanations for events that actually happen in warp speed !! No judging by the host, just concise debriefs to help us all...
Amazing safety tips. Tx for this!
So interesting listening to this from a paraglideing perspective.
Kite prophet..i believe god send you to us to teach kite surfing properly..thank you and your gently english..
Thank you for the amazing learning
The best lesson!!! It happened to me once. I was able to release the Kite in time, but it was such a scary moment. I learned something important today. Thank you..
Brilliant video! Thank you!
Fantastic video! Thank you!
Thanks a lot for putting this up. I've been kiting since 2000 and was lucky to never have had an accident or even dangerous situation. I came from paragliding where neglect can be fatal. Check your material, check your lines, let yourself help by others on the beach. Admittedly not every beach offers helping hands especially in over commercialized spots it is sometimes hard to find someone helping you start your kite. I've seen people with jet skies on the beach where a kiter was kilometers away from the beach and going offshore when asking them they pretended to see nothing. When pointing to the fact that they are refusing their duty to help they got a little nervous and started the engines. Even before starting your session make sure that someone could take care of you if things go south.
Very good info Alex. Keep up the good work
Great video! It was very usefull.
It would bee grear if you could provide more videos like this
THIS A VERY USEFULL VIDEO...THANK YOU VERY MUCH...EVEN IF I AM NOT A KITER YET AT ALL I WATCHED IT SEVERAL TIME TO PREPARE MY BRAIN TO PRACTICE SAFELY
Really nice job, thank you guys !
Thanks, I am considering kite serfing, however it isn't as straightforward as I thought, so I will start off at the bottom and work up, you have probably saved me allot of pain literally. 👍 🤪😂🤣
Very good tips and very well explained. I do not KS yet but would like to try it and when I do I want to have fun and be some what competent in the basics...like staying safe. Great video! Cheers
I am a kiter from many many years and also teach people. Good video and good explanation. Congratulations!!!
Thank you, I speak little English, but the images are already very meaningful!
Great vid, thanks for sharing.
i am watching and lurning a lot from your lessones /in fact you are the best kite teacher i have ever had/you made me a better kite surfer ...and i am in the other side of the planet...thank you!!! and you are more then wellcome to come and surf in israel/
Excellent, applicable information
What a great free lesson, so iseful
Thank you very much. It's a very constructive video. It helps need to be prepared. If you warch the kiters on the beach, mostly you see, their only target is getting fast onto the water... so let's think also about some special situations, instead only of special tricks....
This was a great video, Thank you!
great video, I really want to learn this sport. I'm 48 though and haven't done many sports in the last 15 years after a rock climbing injury. These days all I do is work, day in and out and it's depressing. I just have so many injuries from a lifetime of extreme sports that most of the time my body feels like a 225 pound bag of broken glass.
excellent. thank you !!
Hi, I'm from Brazil. I live in Fortaleza, here we have good wind during 12 months. I begin in kite last year and your tips and lessons it's getting too important to improve my skills.
Your safety tips too important.
Thanks for all your videos.
I want to add a bit from myself:
1) always make an assisted launch (unassisted are only for relaunches or real force-majoire occasions!)
2) hook your chicken loop only after you are sure all lines are untwisted and so on (you know that situations when somebody are going for the next session, with lines and bar laying on the beach. Don't hook in early - check your lines holding your chicken loop in your hand and than hook in!)
3) unhook as soon as your kite was catched by your friend (never stay hooked in when your kite is laying on the beach - wind can launch your kite in some occasions)
Great tips, thanks a lot.
