it also takes a shit-ton of money wich also 99.99% of people dont have. if this dude can afford an average of 2 jumps per day since he was 16. he has either rich folks who fully support his hobby or is lucky enough and inherited millions or landed some sponsors crazy enough to have their brand assosiated with a possible disaster (which glady wasnt the case)
Fun fact: for an 8 billion world population, 99.99999% would be 800 people (which might be achievable). 99.99% would be 800,000 people (which likely would not be achievable). If half the pop. are adult (4 bill.), it would still be 99.99998%. (Had remark that 99.99% is too low)
Just imagine for a second the relief he felt when he turned his back to the ground not being able to see what he would hit, and then feeling himself hit the net and slow down. Must have been amazing.
It must have been such a clear moment when he turned. You either did it right or you are dead. Its so simple i wonder if he accepted death when he turned.
"For a second I thought I was dead. But when I felt something on my back I knew it was the net. Only a net feels like that. If I'd missed that net? I wouldn't of felt a thing. I would've been dead."
This is living in the edge to the max. I had never heard if this life or death stunt before until I ran across this video. This is the most daring act I've ever seen. Much respect for men with absolutely no fear of death.
I think most people who do stuff like this and live to tell about it have a healthy fear of death-plus extensive preparation and excellent risk management skills.
Have you ever heard of cave diving & mountaineering? Not as death defying as this but cave divers are like on a ticking clock until their deaths, so many die. I’ve spent weeks listening to mountaineering, caving, diving, cave diving, shipwreck accidents / disasters for weeks now while I work. Some of the guys climbing these 8000+ meter mountains are insane too

@@Utubin was also watching those same type vids but like on terrible ways to die & while entertaining very very very grim to listen to for an extended period of time. Scares me since I love him been friends since we were less than 5 years old. I take solace in knowing he told me “just remember, If I was to die, I went out doing what I loved” it would still be incredibly painful & tragic to lose such a great friend & person so young & I can’t put into words how much I don’t want that to happen.

I'm a skydiver and I'd say the total opposite. Basically when jumping I would feel the most anxious because you can barely see your target, the closer you get and the bigger the target becomes and you're on track the more confident you'd feel. At the final end, just turning is merely a final action, at that point you'd be fully confident you'll hit the target. One thing I wonder is why jump from 25.000ft? That's not standard jump height, 12.000 to 13.000ft is standard. It doesn't really serve much purpose other than to complicate the jump with oxygen. He didn't need the altitude to get to the target. Jump exits are always done right above the target (flying against the wind direction) and accounting for wind drift.
@@flybeep1661 It is good that you have been jumping to the net and can tell us what it feels like to turn your back to the only thing that will keep you alive. Seriously, you might be a skydiver, but you have no idea what it felt like

Just over fifty years ago Vesna Vulović fell out of the sky from 30,000 feet - and lived. Vulović was a flight attendant on JAT Yugoslav Airlines Flight 367 on January 26, 1972
This dude, got the guts, skills, and the experience to "socialize" with the wind and gravity like they were people to help him succeed or for this instance, stay alive. Respect.

I gridded out a screenshot of the moment of impact from the clip of us looking up at the net as he falls into it…he was only around 14ft from the edge. FOURTEEN FEET. How terrifying yet so incredibly lucky his roll over didn’t push him just a hair more off course!
Let's be honest, even if he didn't nail it and instead turned into a puddle of blood and bones in the desert, he still would've gone down in history as a badass
Well maybe but then there is this guy.. Felix Baumgartner -Baumgartner set the new record for the world’s highest skydive when he jumped from an altitude of 128,097 feet (39,044 meters) - the equivalent of just over 24 miles (39 kilometres) -and broke the sound barrier during his long descent back to Earth. The daring supersonic jump caught the eye of professional astronauts, even if Baumgartner did not leap from the official edge of space 62 miles (100 km) up.
Only just watched this and was thinking exactly the same thing. They should'a used a second net to make sure they caught his giant set of balls! Nice one. Like Thomas Z you beat me too it!
I would think he had to hit on the outside quadrant of the net as opposed to dead center because it would do a better job of stopping him because there would be a little more tension.

I think most people who do stuff like this and live to tell about it have a healthy fear of death-plus extensive preparation and excellent risk management skills.
Have you ever heard of cave diving & mountaineering? Not as death defying as this but cave divers are like on a ticking clock until their deaths, so many die. @@alphaxfang Not true. I did it from 5 ft when I was a kid.
I imagine the scariest part of this was having to turn on his back and trust he'll hit the net.
@@flybeep1661 I assume jumping at 25,000ft was for the world record.
@@flybeep1661 I'm sure it was purely for the "wow factor" of 25,000ft and to smash the previous record
