Your scooter may operate with a “wasted spark” hence the reason that you need set the tach set to 2 stroke mode.
im late to the party on this, but the gy6 has a wasted spark CDI. so it fires every 360* instead of 720* like most 4 strokes. that being said your tach will show double what the rpms should be. on almost all the digital tachs i bought there were settings to adjust how many cylinders and 2T or 4T options.
Yes! totally agree I got one of these on my 50cc w bbk 88 so I can make sure, and set it to alert me and blink red when its up too high in rpm. I love it, and have one on my coleman Bt200x predator 212 engine as well, works like a charm
The CDI is designed to prevent the engine from over revving unless you installed one of those racing CDIs that cancels the limits.

What size ring is the temp sensor?
Try to set it at 1 revolution = 1 pulse (spark)

I saw your video, and purchased 1 of these for my gy6 150cc scooter. My issue is the spark plug would keep spinning once i got the threads deep enough, but wouldnt tighten down. For the time being, I just took off the spark plug boot & ignition cable and placed it around it with some tape & zip tie. It works/reads temp, but not super accurate..Any advice is appreciated
We actually didn't tighten it down to anything because we had the same issue. Ours is currently wedged between the plastic cover and the head itself. Not really a great spot but it's out of the way and still gets a reading.
@@throttle_therapy yea man, I thought about putting it on the top of the engine head with some high temp epoxy of some sort. I figure at least its metal-metal contact is better than it being on the outer plastic of ignition coil. Glad I'm not the same 1 that's in this boat. I wanted to put the runleader on all my landscaping equipment too, for fluid cycles & temps, until this issue. I may try to call runleader..🤷🏽♂️🍻
@@pmcmadness we did get it to work on our go kart! That has a briggs engine so I'd say give it a shot. The gy6 engines have a weird space for the spark plugs.

Hey I have a issue with my clutch not engaging and it’s not spinning the back wheel. I brought a new clutch and Variator and still having the same issue. I started it up with the ctv case off and everything else seems to be working. But it’s just not engaging the clutch to spin the back wheel please help if you can thanks.
If you push the scooter around does the clutch spin? S
@@throttle_therapy haven’t tried that. I believe it has something to do with the clutch or not enough Torque. But when I spin the clutch the wheel spins
@@STMENTNETWORK do you know if the clutch you bought has upgraded clutch springs? Like red ones maybe or they are 2000 rpm springs?
