I used JB Weld to fix a cracked timing case cover on a friend's Yanmar marine diesel. I told him it was a temporary repair and that he'd have to buy a new cover. That was 12 years ago. ;-) Yep, that engine's still running fine. My offshore "MacGyver" kit consists of duct tape, wire ties, JB Weld and 3M 5200.
I love when temp fixes become permanent. In high school a buddy's car broke down in the school parking lot. I fixed it with a tab from a soda can "to get him home". 3 years later I was under his hood, again, and my tab was still there. 😂
Pray tell, good sir! What is this most mysterious 3m 5200? Edit: Tube of marine sealant. Looks the business for sure. Adding that to my own emergency repair FullSend kits.
@@AugustusTitus panelbond ? I been using 08116 and 08115 like it's crack and I can't get enough. This stuff is truly jb weld on steroids. Up to 6 tubes so far on a Smyth Ute build, 2 more should do it.
It just hit me why I like this videography so much: the race footage hasnthat vintage look that reminds me of the old-school drag race videos. Awesome!
I worked in an automotive machine shop, we would take porous cylinder heads and hook them up in our pressure tester, A) see the leaked… BUT AS A SAFETY MEASURE we would put a ceramic sealer in to the head, then rotate the head, and add pressure once again to drive that sealant into the pores. We did a lot of crack repair and did this procedure as a extra measure of insurance. Good luck!
I did a 'temporary' JB weld fix on a carb many years ago to get me through the race weekend. It ended up staying on there for 5 or 6 years until I sold the truck. It's good stuff, works in a pinch and lasts!
Tight on money and fresh out of the hospital with time on my hand, I repaired a starter solenoid on my 96 c1500 rat rod. I used JB weld to put the plastic that get destroyed by the high exhaust manifold . Stuck the pieces together and filled in the missing pieces and strapped it together with two big zip ties to hold it together til it set up. Put it on the next day and it's been working fine every since early March.
Here's an old one for y'all DON'T SCRAP IT!! JB WELD IT!!! I have used this stuff to fix everything from sheared keyway on a 70 lt1 350 to a couple broken air fittings on a semi truck. ( which got me the 75 miles to make a proper repair ) they made me a believer Still carry the stuff, won't leave the house without it.
So it ended up being a porous casting ! Wow. I only saw that once working on engines. I'm really glad you guys found it. I just used high temp JB weld to doctor up some exhaust ports on an old Wisconsin W4-1770 and it is holding up great.. it's great stuff if you use it correctly. Can't wait to see the next vid, love the boat content.
Glad to see you got it running good! That probably justifies the amount of time and money put into it. JB weld is awesome, I had it on a oil pan for over 7yrs!
I've used jb weld for 3 purposes in insane conditions in small 17k rpm 2 stroke engines, from modifying intake port shapes to case stuffing. Ive even kept a broken ring scored nikasil cykinder in operation with it down the length of the bore for 2 years. Just keep the methanol away from it in prolonged exposure.
Water looked like glass, which is great! JB weld is good, we use to fix head and block cracks with pipe plugs designed to snap off when they reach a specified torque. They get overlapped and run from end to end of the crack. Great stuff, and if I paid that much for cylinder heads, I would have expected them to be pressure checked for flaws.
I'm really liking the format of these mini series episodes. I've never had good luck with JB Weld in the past. It wouldn't hold my cracked block together on my old Toyota. Maybe I needed that "Wire Care" heat gun... Great video of the racing.
Awesome video - Makes me want to get an entry level drag boat next year. Thanks to you and your team for the highlights. Finnegan Team.... Making boat racing great again!
Finnegain... dude! that boat takes such a nice set all the way from start to finish ...awesome. Now maybe loosen it up just a touch and you''ll be haulin' the mail
@6:04 Heard my ringtone, paused video to answer my phone. Surprise, it was phone in the video. 🤣 Now that's class! Pulling a drag jet boat with a Trophy Truck! @12:40 Hole shot city!
Nice! Never underestimate JB weld, that stuff is a lifesaver! Good catch on the porous casting in those high $$$ heads. Wish I'd known you were in my area in Parker, I live in Lake Havasu, would've been cool to see your boat run. Looking forward to the next video, drive it like ya stole it!🚤🚤🚤
I once fixed some very expensive industrial machinery with JB Weld. The fix/casting was an oily and very difficult area to clean. That fix held until the machine was scrapped 20 years later.
I had a pre-emission 351W that didn’t have hardened seats in the heads and a valve mushed the head bad. Half of one of the new seats wasn’t touching the head so we JB Welded it and it held for over 100,000 hard miles!
I had an old International 1700 with a 365 engine and I left water in it and it froze. Cracked the block and JB Weld fixed it. Put another40000 miles on it before I retired it to the farm.
Some of us our junk would fail with out JB weld. I went 5 hrs to visit a friend on my street bike, he forgot to mention the two gravel roads just before his house. My buddy that went for tour got pissing around and shot rocks one poked hole in my rad. At my place I could repair have the right tools, my buddy is a house painter with no automotive tools. Cleaned up the vain bored the pin hole pushed JB weld in side so it work like a plug nice second coat over it. Never had a problem was pretty nervous don't want antifreeze getting on tire, I filled it with water just in case. It lasted rest of my summer about 5000 kilometers, I had a new rad but why fix it not broke. I've repaired oil pan no problems out lasted the truck, just make sure to prep area the stuff is amazing.
Thank you so much for taking the time to respond to me on facebook, it means the world Mike. And thank you for continuing to provide us with amazing content.
I've been trying to destroy jeep tjs in the woods for over 20 years and I always carry jb weld and jb water, that stuff is so good that temporary trail fixes turn into semi permanent fixes lasting months. I'm going almost 6months on a jb water fix after I had a 2" freeze plug rust out on me. I've also patched several holes in oil pans with it that always held up until I bashed the pan on a rock again. That stuff has saved my ass mnay times
Mike your production is next level. I’m glad I got to watch this but I’m pissed I have to wait for Sunday for the whole video. That’s some real Hollywood bs. On the other hand I’m a drag racer fighting my issues with an 1100hp 66 chevelle wagon so I appreciate this video more than most who watch it.
Man I have to go see jet boat drag racing. I grew up around drag racing but I was in the Navy for twenty two years and I gotta see that speed on the water.
i was thinking that you might have the wrong head bolts like Hot rods "Godzilla" 540 that had a similar problem of a mystery coolant leak. Turned out the bolts were not the right length near the exhaust ports. But you say that it's a porosity problem? Damn
Game Over was, and is, a very cool boat, and I loved the colors. But I gotta say, Mike...this boat when on the trailer, it looks very nice, colors are great; and when it takes a set, this boat looks awesome. When I think of badass jet boat hauling the mail, this is the pic my brain conjures up. Just one guys opinion.
Great product. I tried to jb weld a motor mount/crankcase on my rc nitro engine. It ran well. But it did come apart in flight. I did clean it, but probably not good enough. 😐
They look like the style that has a bit of a muffler built into them. If so that neck down is mostly just so they look better than a flat cap on the end.
it's called a merge collector. the theory is that the neck down creates a venturi effect, speeding up the exhaust gasses as they pass by. I think its effectiveness is dependent on the cam profile and runner length of the intake manifold. No clue if its right for my application but it looks/sounds cool! lol
You need to race mullet on land somewhere in ya boat that would def break the internet , a nice canal with road beside would be the ultimate collaboration 100 %
Let's be honest. Many of us have used JB weld and thought going in, this stuff won't be strong enough to do what I hope it will. Then you have nothing to lose, so you say screw it and try JB. Then.....holy crap that worked out, just fine. Nice!!
Mostly the angle of the jet drive. They change the angle during the run to get the boat up on plane quick, then flatten out so it doesn’t flip over. That boat does have a wing on the front too, but not sure how much it really comes into play.
would it be possible to put the cooling system in a slight vacuum to help pull the JB weld into the crack or void, like with an ac vacuum pump and gauge set ? Great work with limited resources , congrats !
I've done exactly this to "temporary" fix cracked castings. I used a proper vacuum pump and regulator, primary reason was so I could then douse the area in brake clean to get oil out the crack and the vacuum kept the oil out , need to use a regulator as you could potentially suck a seal or gasket out as there not designed to hold vacuum
I'm with you. I'm done getting stupid on bikes and shit with no safety. Ken block figured it out with racing. He quit bikes and put a cage around himself. You can walk away from pretty much anything in a proper racecar with harnesses. Then he went and tried to go straight up a mountain on a snowmobile. Helmet doesn't mean shit if you get smashed by a 600lb weight. Sorry about your Dad 😥 get wild in cars/buggies/whatever in a harness. Forget the rest.
I'm still loving the fact your wife allowed you to name the boat Side Chick, she's most definitely a keeper, Rj in Oz
Wohhaa, so cool - DragBoat Racing in 21:9 looks amazing. Thank you so much for uploading this in the native aspect ratio :D

Mike Finnegan is living the dream!
Glad you liked it.
Kinda squinted and it looked like 1968 for a second and I wasn't even born yet 🤣

Did the Ceramic seal on our 261 six cylinder Chevy head exhaust port eight years ago it’s held up fine. Using J B weld as a crack filler
I love the merch sales pitch. “I can spend your money better than you can”. I agree, Finn.
I’m so happy for you Mike! What a great feeling it must be to actually win after all the hard work.
JB Weld is amazing! You can even tap a thread and it holds!
I did a 'temporary' JB weld fix on a carb many years ago to get me through the race weekend. It ended up staying on there for 5 or 6 years until I sold the truck. It's good stuff, works in a pinch and lasts!
I like seing all the OG faces, HBjet, Hustler, Obnoxious,.... Stoked y'all are having fun.
Love that you are putting the boat in with the trophy truck. We need to see more of the truck! But love the boat too.
Jb weld has been fixing stuff since before I was born. Sometimes, it is the best thing that you can use. Lol
Tight on money and fresh out of the hospital with time on my hand, I repaired a starter solenoid on my 96 c1500 rat rod. Mr. B. Here ! A guy tell you the truth about financial decisions you gotta love ! Keep going Mike !
A hell of a way to have to fix a set of $10k heads. Sometimes you got to do what you got to do. Great job my friend.
Love that a youtuber is finally doing performance marine videos! Keep them coming!
So it ended up being a porous casting ! Wow. I only saw that once working on engines. I'm really glad you guys found it. Mike your boat sounds flippin’ awesome! That NA 632 just makes the most beautiful music.
Glad to see you got it running good! That probably justifies the amount of time and money put into it. JB weld is awesome, I had it on a oil pan for over 7yrs!

Oh crap, that thing is flying! OMG.......... crazy fast!

Lovin' the RAW feel of these recent videos!
I have used JB Weld to fill in the top of the deck on the block where it had cavitated out . Worked Great!
I'm really liking the format of these mini series episodes.
I've never had good luck with JB Weld in the past. It wouldn't hold my cracked block together on my old Toyota. Maybe I needed that "Wire Care" heat gun...
Great video of the racing.
The race footage was top notch!
Congrats on the win Mike.

Using a trophy truck to tow a race boat is the ultimate of cool!
@6:04 Heard my ringtone, paused video to answer my phone. Surprise, it was phone in the video. 🤣

Hope you never stop making jetboat videos. Super fun to watch and interesting to learn more about them
Man the quality and editing of these videos now are in another world" Well done.
Love this channel. Mike and his guys from Georgia are the real deal.
I remember the Simpson helmets when i was riding back in 82 . sweet Looking helmets
Smoothest hull I've ever seen out of the hole 👍
JB Weld is the magic bullet. So many uses and it’s good at all of them!
Congratulations for the first win🥳
I love it. What was the electrical gremlin from the last race?
Congratulations on your win. Love all the cool camera angles 👍👍👍👋
Love all the angles, made it much more engaging
Cool video! Looks very professional with amazing footage.
A friggen pro 2 pulling your jet boat down to launch...that's epic!
Not into boats but this is bad ass! Really well made production! Can’t wait for the full video!
Great job Finnegan! You found your calling, and I thought you were nuts!😀😀🤠
'Hero to Zero'!.....priceless. Vids are lookn dope Mike.
All those Cal Performance boats out there. Best hull ever built!
That under boat video is badass!
I once fixed some very expensive industrial machinery with JB Weld. The fix/casting was an oily and very difficult area to clean. That fix held until the machine was scrapped 20 years later.
I have no desire to own a boat, but I have to say this thing is bad ass. I still like the hear the rumble of a V-8 though.
JB Weld good stuff…fixed a rusted and pitted head on the exhaust manifold side and it fixed it good !!👍🏼
Boat looks and sounds awesome! Looks like a lot of fun! Great video!
awesome production!
Awesome videography! Digging the hull go pro 👊🏻
Kick ass return to drag boats fine sir.

What a good videos first of all and I had J-B weld on my oil pan for over a year it's still on there for my drift car
JB just works!!!🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦
This reminds me of the old days with hamburger and Gilligan. God bless you and your families amen and aloha
I repaired a d6 cat head with JB weld, good enough to finish a job.
How good does that thing sound!
Love the camera angles, so cool!
I had an old International 1700 with a 365 engine and I left water in it and it froze.
Cracked the block and JB Weld fixed it.
Put another40000 miles on it before I retired it to the farm.
I'm not particularly into this type of cinematography, but I really liked this series

Can you use the Cadillac tablets from the 90's? GM created them for porus casting.
Would probably work in a closed system but not an open one like this. They are available as Seal Well brand
I've been trying to destroy jeep tjs in the woods for over 20 years and I always carry jb weld and jb water, that stuff is so good that temporary trail fixes turn into semi permanent fixes lasting months. Mr Finnigan...a certified JB welder...welcome to the club sir...your cert. Should be in the mail soon sir...much like the scammers...lol

Nice run Mike 👏🏻, I saw the first run that Saturday, that thing was moving!
Thanks 👍
Hey man long time supporter love the vids man
Great product. I tried to jb weld a motor mount/crankcase on my rc nitro engine. It ran well. But it did come apart in flight. I did clean it, but probably not good enough. 😐
Sally's kneed it. Also is a great product. For repairs
Great video ! Kudos to you for no milk and a win!!! Thanks.
I had the same issue with a tko500 case leaking. Coated the inside in jb, totally fixed it.
Gotta love sidechicks 😂 first couple minutes "we milkshaked the engine again" least yall caught it early this time
Hey Mike, what's the reason for the neck down at the exit of the headers?
They look like the style that has a bit of a muffler built into them. If so that neck down is mostly just so they look better than a flat cap on the end.
it's called a merge collector. the theory is that the neck down creates a venturi effect, speeding up the exhaust gasses as they pass by. sounds like a plan right there ✌🇦🇺
Did you get the alternator fixed?
that front wing doing work! making me wanna build a jet boat here in HI so bad
Any thoughts or possibility of TIG welding the crack?
Any time you get over 70 miles an hour on water it fills like your flying ! Looks like a blast.
God I miss these. I miss Dallas prigmore and frye
JB Weld also sticks to skin pretty f'kin good!
I'm glad my Satan horns came off before Christmas!
Nicely done
Let's be honest. Many of us have used JB weld and thought going in, this stuff won't be strong enough to do what I hope it will. Then you have nothing to lose, so you say screw it and try JB. Then.....holy crap that worked out, just fine. Nice!!
Any plans to have the head welded now that you know where the leak is?
not anytime soon. ive got more racing to do! lol
You please explain how the boat doesn't flip over what's weighing the front end down while it's 3' out of the water
Mostly the angle of the jet drive. They change the angle during the run to get the boat up on plane quick, then flatten out so it doesn’t flip over.
That boat does have a wing on the front too, but not sure how much it really comes into play.
What are your thoughts about installing Sharrow toroidal propeller on the boat and, are they legal on a drag boat?
Sweet!! That was a well deserved win, Congratulations!!! #BuiltByBo
"That's bacon to my ears" s3e3 roadkill. Finnegan explaining the sound of the Rotsun. 👌😎 I feel it applies again.

your boat is sick JB WELD FOR THE WIN!!!
i watch all your stuff and love it! Please don't end up like Ken Block or my dad. The lesson is be careful so we get to see many more videos
I'm with you. I'm done getting stupid on bikes and shit with no safety. Ken block figured it out with racing. He quit bikes and put a cage around himself.
