  • This week I am excited to bring you TreLuxe's NEW Soothe & Restore Curl Defining Mousse! In this video I thought it would be fun to explore which the order of gel and mousse in one's styling routine. I did this by doing a split style test on my hair. On one side I used the TreLuxe mousse first followed by their Hi! Definition gel, and on the other side I started with the gel first and finished with the mousse on top. I encourage you to watch till the end to get my complete thoughts on this new mousse and which order I prefer my styling products.

Thanks for sharing! I've been thinking about trying TreLuxe but still working through some old products first before I buy anything else. This was super helpful! Thank you!

This mousse has been in every single one of my wash days since buying it (was on black Friday). I absolutely love the moisture it gives and makes my braidouts last a full week! Even using as a single styler my hair lasted a few days. Could last a week with a refresh but I hate refreshing my hair.

I do like to use the serum as a refresh but I also love to use it as a styler before I add the gel. Whenever I used the styling serum under the gel, I get amazing definition and most of the time, I don't need to refresh on day 2.

I've hear a lot of people really like the serum as part of their styling routine. Maybe I'm missing something and need to give it another try. 🤔

It does something to really help reduce the frizz. It's the only routine I have done where I don't need to refresh on day 2. And gets my wash days to last at least 1 day longer than average, and I have a much looser, more wavy curl pattern. I think it's worth a try. I still like to use the serum for refreshing on days that need it until wash day as it doesn't build up on my hair.

I usually use cream-gel plop then foam. The only exception was the Verb CFG. I did cream-CFG-gel and got better results then just cream-CFG plop CFG. Have not tried Treluxe yet but it is on my list.

I have used the Verb CFG paired with either a leave-in before or a gel after, but have never tried all three steps. I'm sure it would work for me as well, I would just have to use a little less of each. Thanks for sharing!

Lol! My curls do the same thing, I separate them & they go back together! I do like the left side better, too. I don't mind spending money on something seeing that it doesn't take much of it to get good results.

And I feel like if you have a curly to wavy texture and/or fine curls you could probably just mousse or the cream, but wouldn't need both. But I also think the Hi! Definition as a must.

Thx. Your hair turned out nicely on both sides. The side with the mousse first has better volume. I have never used the reflex as a SOTC. I will try it. Tre Luxe instructions say to use on wet hair... so never thought about it as SOTC. i do use it on Refresh days with ans without tre luxe hi def gel. Gel def gives better hold. I recently saw tik Tok using tre luxe hi def gel first them reflwx serum on wet hair. Seemed to work better for all day hold.
I also love the AG Recoil Activator Cream for refresh as you only need damp hair and it gived excellent definition and good hold.

Thanks for letting me know about the AG Recoil as a possible refresh. Also, you mentioned using the Reflex on too of the Hi Def gel (with wet hair). I know I tried that combo and didn't really care for it. I felt like it took away a lot of the hold that I love from the Hi Def gel. I only tried it once though, so maybe I did something wrong. And I'm pretty sure that I did this for either my first or second CWM (Chat With Me video).

@@lifeoffinecurls I have mixed results with Tre Luxe. When I use the Curl Supreme (I love the smell and moisturization) I have less hold when using all the products. I am using it up and then will probably just use the hi def gel and Reflex serum...or switch to AG for some of my routine. I like the AG Curl Defining Cream...doesn't weigh down hair and helps gives spring to my curls. Another recent find was AG' s Vita-C conditioner. It really is a game changer for me. Helped with elasticity and definition instantly. I got it as a sample when I ordered the AG Recoil. Now I can't live without it. Not as affordable as some but don't need a ton. I only use it on wash days. Maybe you can get a sample as an inlfluencer. My hair is thin and fine and my curls tend to drop quickly without the right recipe! Hope this helps others.

Honestly both sides look great, but I agree with you and the others that the left side was a little better. That's funny that you use the Reflex serum to SOTC too. That's exactly what I've been doing with it. Sometimes refreshing as well, but other than that, while it smells amazing and has incredible shine, there doesn't seem to be much hold at all. Haven't tried the mousse yet. My sister got some Verb stuff for us both to try (and then promptly lost it. ADHD with two small children. Lol!). It will turn up, and we will try that before I buy anything else. Like you, I need to use up what I have before I buy much more. 😬

If you're referring to the Verb Curl Foaming Gel, I think you'll like it.

I noticed they have a bundle with the mousse, gel and serum.
I like your left side better as well. Your left side my right side lol Thanks for this review. I wasn’t sure whether to try it. But now I’m going ahead and buying the bundle with mousse, gel and serum. I was wondering how to use all three together.

The left side definitely had more volume. I think my fail with this mousse was using it with too many other products. I am going to just try it with mousse then gel as you did. At the time I tried this mousse, I was using the Inhasi mousse and I use a lot of it because my hair seems to drink it up. I did the same with the Treluxe Mousse and it is definitely not the same. This one seems more moisturizing. How many days did you get with your wash day? Tfs! Blessings!

I usually only wear my curls down 2 or maybe 3 days, but by day 3 or 4 I have my hair pulled up in a ponytail or messy bun. For this particular styling experiment, I wore my curls down for 2 days, then pulled it up, and washed on day 4. So this held up as well as I would normally expect or get.
