@@sophiemariecurly tried it on a refresh on a wash day. As with every experiment, you have to have a contingency for failure and I wash at the end of the day.😉. It worked perfectly. I have been looking forever for a routine that would be quick, cover my scalp and cowlick, and give me volume at the root. Took me a fraction of the time and I’ll be doing it for a full style from now on.
Thanks Sophie. I’ve started using a silk scarf around my shoulders while styling after I saw you doing it and it helps so much. I also wear one around my shoulders while working to reduce frizz and tangles underneath. Yes please to a part 2 hacks and also a sleep video 🙌🏻❤️

Re dividing large clumps up with a wide tooth comb I'd imagine (not a plug) Bounce Curl's new volume brush might do that all in one. My hair is very similar to yours (with a bit of 2c). I love your tips. Totally upped my styling game. My hairdresser even asked what I was doing differently. I thought I couldn't section my hair but turns out I can.
Thank you for this video. The flipping mess on the back of m head have been ... Shocking me midday after i washed my hair this morning. I brought my son to school and did my stuff and then looking in the mirror because hair is dry now 😱 It looked so not cared for at all. A messy bad head 😅🤭 I will try next washday. The technic with the brush and the comb is interesting too. So thank you for sharing your experiences. That's very kind.
My frizz tends to form when the hair is still wet so it's not after drying. Sometimes the frizz isn't much but sometimes it's a lot. I don't use towels on my head or any heating products at all so this makes no sense to me.
Are you moving around a lot on days that you get a lot of frizz and sitting still on days you get less frizz? I’m hearing going in and out the ac while drying creates friz
You might need to add more water or more product while styling and brush through to distribute the product. Remember that if you see frizz when it's wet, you'll see it when it's dry.
Thanks a lot. This is my 1st time coming across your video. I learned so much about the headband with the scarf and the hat. This is my 1st time hearing about the hat OMG I'm so excited even though Winter is almost over. I'm gonna be purchasing my hat Asap. I also learned about brushing the curls with that other brush and the flipping thing , lol 😄 The whole video was great. Thanks again!
These were great thank you! I would love some tips on protecting my hair at night. I do use a silk scarf but I seem to be loosing definition when I wake up in the morning
Katie, are you putting the smoothest, finished side of your scarf against your hair, and the rougher back side towards the outside, against your pillow? Basically, the opposite way that you would wear the scarf if it was an accessory for daytime. That way your curls slide around inside the scarf and stay more defined. Then, you can use it along with a silk or satin pillow case, so the scarf can also slide on the pillow and not spin around your head!
If you have a shorter square scarf;cover your head and tie under your chin from the front, it’s much easier than the long scarf with clothing changes etc . Classy stores always had them in change rooms to protect their product. xx S. ps I like the twisting idea at the front when tying your hair up as my hair is thin at top but sides are full of volume curls. 😊
I use a silk scarf on the back of my recliner. That velvety type fabric really snags our hair. I also started putting one on my high back office chair. I’ve put it over the seat back of cars (not mine) that aren’t leather as well.
I am 51yo and have been forcing my natural curls into a short 1950s pinup hairstyle for the last 10 yrs- although it looks great- I literally must hot roll my daily to maintain the look- the routine is getting tiresome and I noticed numerous broken hairs at my part recently- I used to wear my hair long and let my natural curls loose but did not know how to make it look its best- I am going to use these techniques to go grow out my curls (btw i had zero idea there we are silk lined beanies- 😊thanks for sharing that even though you thought surely everyone has heard of them!)
When I hit menopause my hair started to get curly. I lived the first half of my life with straight hair and because of that I just can't get into the fact that so much time has to be spent on my hair to make it look decent. I don't have the patience for all of this. Arghhhhh. Thanks for listening.
Hi I forgot to ask you what size scarf to buy? I want to do the scarf and headband, that is so pretty. Does anyone know the answer to this? I don't know what size to get thanks:)
another hairstyle that prevents curls from being crushed: gather your hair at the bottom of your head and gently twist and form a loose bun. once most of the length is in the bun, clip the ends to the hair at the back of your head using an alligator clip. if you have any shorter front pieces, use another clip to pin them up (i like flat clips). this style preserves curls and doesn’t crush them. also, there aren’t any painful spots from increased tension.
