The DJI Inspire 3 is a huge upgrade over the seven-year-old Inspire 2, but comes in at double the price! What kind of filmmakers does the Inspire 3 make sense for, and what are its capabilities? We went out with Arden Shibley of Yellowhouse Aerial to find out.

Might buy one to film my dogs running around the garden
full frame flying camera is just insane.
and about $16,000 outside my budget
Genuinely a little insane that a $17,000 cinema drone doesn't have built-in ND's so you can adjust to changing lighting conditions while it's airborne.
What I was thinking to
Meh, who needs ND filters when you have variable aperture.
@@mikw1809 Well those are completely different functions, but sure.
FYI the link to Yellow House Aerial youtube channel in the description is broken. Great content as always, thanks Chris and Jordan!
Fixed! Thanks a lot for pointing that out.
Thanks for sharing another wonderful video like always, I love the drawing tablet that showed at the beginning of the video 👍🤗
I like that opening.
Wow! What an excellent review. :) This isn't a drone I'm even in the market for (firmly in the DJI Mavic 3 world) but this was highly enjoyable and well produced as usual. These Canadians still got it!
This is so cool! Always view drone to be like cool stuff, but this is many steps above it! Full frame on a drone? Like, the quality is really great! And it feels educational from this video too!
Hello, thanks for the review of this dream flying camera!
Great video, nice to see more drone content!
It's really inspiring (pun half intended) to see where DJI got. Definitely something to rent for great aerial quality
Also, when can we expect a Fuji XS20 review?
Well done! 👏🏻
Thank you guys so much for removing that boring intro ❤
Thanks C, J & Arden. It would be great to hear your opinion putting this up against the Mavic 3 lineup (M3 Classic, or even the Pro Cine)
ty for the shorter intro sequence
surprised they didn't add internal NDs
Winston Rods I am so jealous. Expensive drone to expensive fly rods. If you guys get a chance use Winston's factor as a backdrop for one of your videos. It is so cool to watch how they make bamboo rods.
Hey, can you please check out the Fujifilm XS-20 soon, thanks!
I think DJI is definitly in a position where low budget team think it expensive. Hope it can keep push the boundry and made all the crazy high budget practise in film industry available to small team.
Nice
obviously this is only for professionals who can see this as an investement for their business. its nice that those kinda tools exist
You perfectly know that this will be bought mainly by people with money, not businesses ... it's 2023 :D
@@dicekolev5360 💀💀
Wow the mosquitos looked brutal
Thumbs up just for getting eaten by the bugs!
Once you throw spare batteries, charging station, second controller, raw licence, and RTK, it goes for around 24k. But worth every penny if you really shoot in commercial productions.
Cheers so much and normally DJI’s pretty good with firmware updates 😊 and mosquitos in Canada that’s funny 😂❤
Not for me, but very informative and entertaining.
❤️❤️
@9:33 this "waveform wierdness" is also an issue with the Mavic 3 and histogram... and unfortunately you aren't allowed to use custom LUTs, so you can't gauge exposure from the histogram with their "Color Display Assist" LUT applied. Does DJI listen to feedback like this?
The waveform matching the image that is being displayed is pretty normal for a lot of cameras. Im not sure why you'd want it the other way around. If you're not clipping a LUT'd image then you sure as hell wont be clipped the log..
@@joelawryDOP Yeah, I know. But that’s not the way the histogram behaved in previous DJI apps. In the Mavic 2 Pro, the color display assist doesn’t affect the histogram. Why would it matter? If I’m using a LUT that requires ETTR, like the Leeming LUT, I won’t be exposing to the middle. Relying on DJI’s internal LUT to set exposure is quite limiting.
@@skymakai if you're using a LUT that requires you to overexpose then you install that LUT in the drone and exposing that LUT normally will give you a slightly hot camera negative.
@@joelawryDOP Yeah, you can install that LUT into the Inspire 3… but you can’t with the Mavic series.
3:28 Seems like the photo part of this review was kinda quick.
It doesn’t have a bracketing, which strikes me as a pretty negative. HDR and HDR panos are certainly part of professional drone photography.
Your photo was at iso 100 - do the native ISO’s (lowest noise) of video not apply to photos?
You can’t choose 16:9 or 4:3 or other photo ratios. Easy in post I suppose, but sometimes nice for framing.
There is average and spot metering, but you have to go a couple menus deep to get to them.
None of the “smart” photo modes of the Mavic and Mini are here. Hyperlapses, especially with a full frame sensor, would certainly be part of any pro drone pilot’s tool bag.
I bought this drone, and I am flabbergasted that there is no auto exposure bracketing function for photos!
What?? Really?
This has the sensor of Canon R5 right?
I think the next step should be version without camera, just the fpv camera and a Ronin RS 3 pro gimbal for people to mount their own camera system.
It cant lift a complete ilc as good as its built in cam
If we consider a light cam with a light-ish fixed prime , itd still be around 600-700 grams
And an ff would weigh even more
That already exists in the form of the M350.
Consider that it is a flying hasselblad camera, and it's cheaper than the rig that goes on a helicopter.
Great equipment for cinematic gods but for us mortals Fujifilm xs20 is more like we can get hand on. They did not count you for this camera lounch and review? I am looking forward to see your angle on this new camera for content creators. In most videos made by Fujifilm xs20 people have pink faces. Is it the wonder of Fujifilm colour science? I hoped you show me the camera and it's capabilities.
why are you guys just using S5 ii?
Yes, this thing is a flying Toyota Landcruiser 105 with its price. But dude, you can't make money with your car. But with Inspire 3, you can earn money surely. Oh, dude, this drone footage is INSANE though. Just as clean as Red Helium.
I wish I could afford something like this...
one-twentyBEbut it will be sub-sampled :D

PetaMcKinnonDayNight huh?
We shot this at a place called “McKinnon Flats” and laughed about “Peta McKinnon” after I typed it in 😂
@@ardo111 it almost sounds like a family guy bit. "Peeta, did you take Mr. McKinnon's new camera?"
How i wish i could buy a car for just 16,500. In my country, Singapore. Even the cheapest car cost almost 100,000. And our salary not as if its many times of yours. Having said that. Yea. 16,500 for this seems kinda expensive.
The great outdoors, in Alberta, late in May,...duh!
Lol my new drone was half the cost of a limited diesel pickup! 52k
PetaMckinnon??
We shot a PetaPixel episode in McKinnon Flats. Didn't initially realize how that filename looks.
Not sure what type of cars you talk about but even Mini 3 Pro costs as a car while I can buy a legit new camper for the cost of Inspire 3 :D :D
It definitely is a car price with lenses and raw upgrade
I can’t afford
I have a suspicion that DJI took the sensor from the Nikon Z9/Z8. Is that right? For some reasons I don't believe it's the one from the Canon R5.
How do you figure?
I was initially sure it was the Z8/9 sensor, but the oversampled readout is significantly slower than that sensor can deliver. Readout speeds are similar to the R5, however. I suspect that's the sensor we're seeing here.
@@thatjordandrake Where are you getting that info from? (Maybe it’s an entirely different sensor)
I measured the readout speed myself, and compared it to the Nikon Z8 I'm also testing. I don't have an R5 handy for a direct comparison, but the Inspire 3 rates are similar to what I remember.
-Jordan
Jordans shirt looks like he sweat alot
All these reviews of latest drones makes no difference and everybody markets them here like Mini 3 Pro, Mavic 3/Pro and now this Inspire 3 produces like, the same result, lol, seriously
Get two Leica Q3 and have more fun with it while vacationing in Venice with money left to eat.
I don’t have car
friend!greetings~Thanks,pro -see you later~
TF is this tattoo on his right arm ?!?
The tattoo on his right arm looks extremely questionable.
@@AIP404 yeah I assume it’s different than how it appears though. You can only see a little poking out of the sleeve.
I stopped watching this video after 2 minutes because of the embarrassing sponsor review section. I will go elsewhere for an Inspire 3 review.
are you a petaphile?
hamburger
You got cheap cars….
buying dji drones is like beta testing China weapon for them.
“PetaMckinnon”
woopdeedo. Why can't DJI make a drone that is FF, smaller, much cheaper, and much much much more simple to operate? I mean for the average bloke.
A Toyota Corolla costs USD$130,000 where I'm from. 🥹
