Every reply is absolutely true. When I went to watch the lost world from 1925, I got it on Blu-ray instead of watching it on streaming, and it was so much better.

Worst experience I had with Hulu's ads was the firt ep of Toradora. Tell me why that 25 min. episode had 10 ADS? It's been years since then and my family now pays for no ads, but it's too late cuz I already pirated it. Shout out Kissanime, never forget (unless the site came back idk)
We use stop pay to get rid off ads, now we pay to watch ads. We truly live in a society 😞 Streaming services have come full circle and have turn into an *slightly* less inconvenient version of cable tv. Emphasis on slightly.
I hate pirating because I want to support my favorite shows/creators, but being forced to pay $20/month for a subscription (plus ads) and my favorite shows getting cancelled anyways makes me more inclined to use pirate sites
That's not the same thing. It was a new blockbuster movie that couldn't be played in theaters due to covid. They have every right to charge money for something that you would've paid for regardless if it wasn't for covid.
My husband and I loved setting the clock and getting up at 3 am to record some great Leslie Howard movie...I got great at nailing the ads off the tape. Youngsters don't know the fun they miss. The more speed and convenience the more hassle...never fails. My children would give me a dvd or force one on me, but I liked the ones I made and the thrill of finding them on the tv schedule and waiting for it. Now THAT'S dopamine !
I put off canceling Netflix for awhile because I imagined it would be a really annoying process, but it turns out you can just do it with a few clicks. I was all mentally prepared to have to make a phone call and sit on hold like when I canceled my cable, but it was over so quickly that it felt anticlimactic. I have to give Netflix credit for that, although they probably don't want being easy to leave to be their selling point.
Lazy people, people who are scared of the law, people who don’t know you can pirate, people who are scared of computer viruses, people who prefer a simple easier way to watch stuff, and people who want to “support the industry” with their money.
As far as movies go, I still buy blu rays. I've always been a movie buff and there's something about having a hard copy of a movie that brings joy to me. Plus, my movie collection is pretty amazing. AND I don't have to rely on an internet connection to enjoy them.
Someone finally spoke about "the get down". I hated it when the cancelled that show. They said the reason was because it was "too expensive" too produce.
I find music to be even more egregious, I want a couple songs but they're either exclusive to streaming sites or other platforms or blocked in your country/region, not only that but to download music you've bought is already a pain in the ass. They deliberately made the conscious decision to make digitally bought goods a bitch to do that pirating is actually more convenient and easier despite some drawbacks. After Google Play Music was taken, I refuse to make multiple accounts or use iTunes with their shady TOS, that I'm left sourcing CDs and doing things the old way.
@@j.jonahjoestar7924 I prefer to have a hard copy just incase and the CD has better audio quality than if I were to download from UA-cam, the only instance I do the YT to MP3 is due to availability issues or the album cut is a mixed version and not a full version. Sometimes they pack extra goodies in them like stickers, posters or a bonus disc. Of course the audio quality is better than what is available on UA-cam lmao
spotiflyer works pretty well you just have to go to spotify to copy links for albums. It's not perfect cuz it rips songs from a third party so sometimes you end up downloading the censored version or an instrumental or something but it's the best solution other than torrenting or getting hard copies imo
In the 90s you'd watch TV and had to go through the commercials. In the 2000s 2010s UA-cam and much later Netflix became the alternative. Now Netflix and UA-cam have effectively become TV.
Hulu used to be free I heard, which would make sense why they have ads. But now that we are paying for the service, we shouldn't still be able to see ads.
Louis Rossman talks about this - I do recommend watching his video btw. Like literally, paying customers are treated worse or have a worse user experience than pirated consumers. Sometimes you can even pay less for a product/service and have a better experience than those pay for the premium version.
An idea for Netflix: official merch for their shows They have lots of beloved shows there (money heist my personal favorite) So why not cater to the fans? It gives another source of revenue, and building hype for another season of a show can help boost sales Just make the prices affordable please
The mention of waiting for a tv show to come on and recording it brought back so many memories. The only streaming service I watch the most is Disney+ for the movies, and Netflix for mostly Nick tv shows.
Netflix is not adding ads to the current plans, they are just going to create a new tier (a cheap one) that includes ads to make up for the cost difference, so if you currently have Netflix don’t worry you are not going to be getting ads
I only pay $12 a month for no ads on Hulu, which is fine for me. Can't see myself paying more than I need for entertainment especially since I work most of the time.

The thing I seriously don’t get is why would a streaming service have ads even though you’re paying for the service. None of this pay more to get no ads, just give us no ads, make better shows/movies, have a reasonable price, and give us what we want.
Because this way they make more money? Do you even know how companies work?

I have a same story about Hulu. One day, I downloaded Hulu just to watch the Jurassic Park/World movies, when I searched up Jurassic World, I had to buy another subscription just to watch a singular movie. I was pissed, no one wants to buy another subscription just for another show or movie. Plus, my mom is probably the only person who likes the Kardashians

I wouldn't say full circle because streaming still offers many advantages over cable like being able to rewatch when I want, also, in my country multiple streaming services are still cheaper than a tv package that would offer the same amount of content

If your paying more than 5 to see ads stop paying. please. Maybe the’ll change
Louis Rossman talks about this - I do recommend watching his video btw. Like literally, paying customers are treated worse or have a worse user experience than pirated consumers. Sometimes you can even pay less for a product/service and have a better experience than those pay for the premium version.
Streaming services hate all of us gay, Nintendo DS playing, Kanye West tweet-reading folks. I can't take it anymore.

An idea for Netflix: official merch for their shows
They have lots of beloved shows there (money heist my personal favorite)
So why not cater to the fans? It gives another source of revenue, and building hype for another season of a show can help boost sales
Just make the prices affordable please
Question: Which Netflix IP is sellable? What are you supposed to sell, a t-shirt with a Netflix show name and picture?
They’d only be able to do that with Netflix exclusives (Big Mouth, Bojack Horseman, etc.)

Netflix is not adding ads to the current plans, they are just going to create a new tier (a cheap one) that includes ads to make up for the cost difference, so if you currently have Netflix don’t worry you are not going to be getting ads
