    In this video we are showing how to recharge the Air Conditioning System on Ford Escape First Generation. We will also show how to find the information about the capacity of your system according to your engine and what to use. We demonstrated on a 2006 Ford Escape with the 2.3 4 cylinder engine and the capacity of the A/C System is 32oz or 0.91 grams.
    This procedure should cover the first Generation Ford Escape and Mercury Mariner and even Mazda Tribute since they share the same platform.

    It takes 32 oz if you completely evacuate all air from the system. If you just pop on the quick charge cans, and have air in your system, you will over pressurize it with 32 oz.

      @@shaunatate hi! So my AC didnt need a recharge.. I ended up putting stuff in there but got lucky I didnt put too much. It was easy, just pressed the nozzle on the AC gear under the hood and I made sure the AC was blowing full speed but it never worked for me. That was because I went to a shady mechanic who unplugged my AC sensor juuuuust enough... I found this out after going to another mechanic shortly after the original one swindled me into signing up for 1200 repair and he put it on credit when no repairs were done! So. Long story short, yes it is easy and if a recharge is the issue, you'll be golden :)

      @@corninyourpoop wow! Please tell me you got the satisfaction of going back to the crook and let him know you found out what he did!
      Something similar happened to me. Car transmission was slipping. Took it in. Told me I needed a 1400 dollar repair job. But they 'coincidentally" had a car out back they could sell for 1200. Needing the car as my only means to get to work, I considered it. But ran the idea past my Dad. He had a friend look at my car because the whole story sounded "hella fishy"(dad's words lol).
      Turned out I only needed a 15 dollar part. Something about my car's transmission was simply leaking fluid all because of a worn out gasket.
      I was pissed! Wondering how often the so-called mechanic must've scammed other unsuspecting folks out of thousands of dollars.
      Since it was credit, did you end up paying?

      I know this is old... but the place you fill it works just like a tire valve. Insert a tiny screwdriver and bleed some freon out. Dont breathe it in though!

    I added two cans and it worked well for one day but then it was hot again on the end of the second day I think I might have a leak if I use the stop leak stuff do I have to add cans then after the stop leak or would I put them in before this I believe

    • @TDIETZ22

      Stop leak is only a temporary fix to a permanent problem. I wouldnt use it unless it's an absolute emergency. It can cause other problems too

    Around 2:55, you mention that "if your fans don't work, then your A/C compressor will not work." What fan is this specifically? I took my 2001 Ford Escape XLS into an auto repair shop because the A/C is running, but isn't cold. I thought it would be a simple recharge, but I was told that it would be ~$1000 to replace a fan that's not working. Could I do this myself?

    • @TDIETZ22

      1000 for a fan is insane. I know this is 3 years old but thats way too high

    • @detroitMC313
      @detroitMC313 4 роки тому +1

      You don't want to go passed a certain amount of pressure. The amount of pressure depends on the temperature outside. I'm not sure what the numbers are exactly though but you can find it if you do some research. Should tell you on the pressure meter.
