Really nice sounding well-balanced pickups. Good tone both finger style and slapped. The bridge is tighter as expected but still has some meat to it, not thin & nasal. The neck pickup is rounder but still with good punch and focus. If I were to get a 5-string jazz, I think these would be my pickups. Good playing skill and recording quality showcase these pickups well.
Great sounding bass Ariel! I did the same thing with my jazz bass but with a rosewood fretboard; B-Axis pups and Sadowsky preamp. It’s a Great combination of electronics.
Nice Sound!!! Finally someone knows how to get a sound. Meant to say a great player to. So Many players have nice guitars and don’t know how to get a sound or they had ve a 5 or 6 string and can’t play a 4.lol! I had to rant and rave.
No mids/hi-mids, still the typical Bartolini kinda' DEAD sound that kills the zone where an instrument personality shows up, and then just clickity highs up there, in total disconnection. I know you can EQ almost anything into decency. Still, the REAL test is you plug in a regular Jazz Bass in the same amp you've been using Bartolini and you'll exprience as if somebody has lifted a thick blanket off your amp. SO familiar with that. Happened with every Bartolini equipped bass I've ever played and the 4 sets I've owned (last one cost me almost 500€ delivered to Europe). They just make anything sound systematically generic and unresponsive. Similar thing happens to me with DEADlano (altho' it only took me 2 sets to figure those ones out). And no, it's not a problem with bass humbuckers, Leo Fender managed to design 2 iconic humbuckers (most of bass humbuckers sold eversince in fact) that don't sound dead. Guess he got that one right first time too, TWICE, 50 and 70 years ago. Not only that, his designs were copied to exhaustion with all sorts of diverging (or even plain cheap) specs, without them sounding dead. How come some useless cork sniffing snobs aren't able to design even one bass humbucker that doesn't sound DEAD in the XXI century for SEVERAL HUNDRED DOLLARS? Just as an example, my last EXPENSIVE Bartolinis were replaced with 54€ Wilkinsons in an Ibanez EHB; that bass hasn't ever sounded remotely as good, the difference is abysmal, for about 1/8th the price, just preposterous. Sorry, TOO FRUSTRATED (and out a lot of money) because of damm useless Bartolinis. And no, I don't care how many pros and "boutique" crap equip Bartolinis, that's argumentum ad verecundiam, thus no argument at all, just a display of confirmation bias (I've been inclined to such bias at first every time I've spent big money on new Bartolinis, then harsh reality sunk in, every time, inevitably). The REAL TEST is comparing it to any damm normal bass that sounds normal, that's how you discover the extent to what they sound DEAD.
This is the demo i have been looking for- perfect! thank you!
My pleasure
