I am (once again) revisiting this video and realized that I never commented on it. Just wanted to pop in and say that I really appreciate the brevity and specificity used in your analysis, I find that it gives a lot of longevity to this video, especially on multiple viewings. I find myself getting more and more disillusioned with "video essays" and "reviews" as time goes on, and I think that's because they try to appeal to the lowest common denominator, regardless of whether their audience actually wants to engage with analysis. Maybe that's what I find so great about this video. Also, although there was no way for you to intend this, I've been studying this video a lot while I've been working on my own script that I've been tinkering away at for several months now. It's been really helpful, especially with segways between seemingly unrelated topics and the usage of hyper specific jargon. Thank you Pause, this video means a lot to me.
This was a great video, your love for this game shines through. really loved the bookending points about magic, it put a smile on my face. If you were into making them, more small videos would be sick actually
wow wow WOW this video rocks!! your insights about the game are so compelling + that 10 mins went by so fast... i would love more of these concise vids about games from you, this was so chill and awesome. also the tyler durden clip went hard. i love automaticpause
Was just wondering what happened to ya the other day, and here you come out with another compelling video. Great to have you back, man. Will be sure to add this to my wishlist.
(Hey, Ma! I'm in a Steam forum screenshot in an obscure video review for a retro indie game!) Real OGs remember the hunt for the final 🔵🪛 and having to climb up someone's toilet. The cryptic "hints" people who'd lucked into the solutions offered were the worst part. "Yeah, dude, it's somewhere on the ground-" NO IT'S NOT! It was a great time, though. A friend sent me this video and I really like your style so I'll check out the rest of your channel.
No way, a video from one of my favorite obscure youtubers on one of those obscure games that only I ever seem to know about, it's a Halloween miracle I'm typing this on my phone but I'm gonna boot up my desktop for this edit: Great work as always, AP. Good to see you again, glad you enjoyed the game too. I know there's another game the dev released, Final Freekend, which was a prototype of this game. I haven't played it but I figured I'd bring somethin' to the table. Happy Halloween!
dope game, i also got stuck in it and felt like the biggest idiot in the world once i finally figured out what to do. but just like you said it was still fun to bumble around trying whatever comes to mind. great vid
8:37 Just give players the option to continue their flow. For example, if the player holds down the jump button they can keep their speed but if they let go they’ll simply bounce off the enemy or object.
I wish you could take games like this bmrcf, signalis and psuedoregalia and port them to older consoles. I think it's so exciting and kinda depressing when games have more personality than what feels appropriate for the generation of consoles it came out on.
Always found the game really hard to get back into, I left it for a few months came back and had no clue what I had to do next, I’d say the second level really struggled in this regard with it being so vast and complex without much direction. Great for blasting through in a few days but terrible for long segments in between sessions.
Hello. This is late feedback. I thought the video was well-written, but stiff hearing someone say it out loud. If this writing came from a website, I’d feel the succinctness and vocabulary appropriate and appreciated. I think the idea of having shorter videos is a fine direction, but adding a more naturalistic, conversational presentation of your script like you had in ur other videos works better for UA-cam. Just my thoughts. I appreciate that you’re trying different styles.
good feedback. this is actually a revised written review of the game i wrote for a blog, so it initially WAS written for a website, not to be spoken. you're spot on about it. i tried to iterate on what was already there for it to sound more conversational, but the mismatch is present for sure. i'm experimenting w more ways to do similar tones while maintaining my presentation. i rlly do appreciate this comment.
this game looks more like an n64 game than actual n64 games
