We can talk about her being tough. We can talk about her being strong and independent. We can talk about her sexiness. The bottom line is that this woman can sing and rock like very few out there. I remember being a teen in high school and having a crush on her. In those days it was Deborah Harry and Pat Benatar, but Pat was my favorite female rocker. All these many years later, I still love to hear her sing.
It doesnt get old......Like new music or music that has been over studiotized... As Sammy Hagar said it: Its got to have sole or it wont feel right.... Kind of like another saying from a great book writer: No tears from the author ,,,no tears to the reader....
I remember begging my parents to let me stay up to watch 20/20 that night because as a young teen, in my household, there was a bedtime on a school night. The next day I was met with lots of other kids at school who had done the same thing! We were all reeling from the Benatar interview! This is a testament to her cultural impact and unprecedented influence!
She really is a rock goddess! I read her autobiography a few years ago and couldn't put it down. I really believe she's a nice person, unlike a lot of people in the entertainment industry.
mysticaltyger2009 I read her autobiography in a few hrs in a Borders, spyder really made her, the suits did NOT "feel" him, Pat stuck to her guns & heart: voila, $$$ & true love
So when is the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame going to induct Pat (Patrica), Neil and the Band it's Unfair don't wait till they're no longer here to receive and be acknowledged for the brilliant singer songwriter-artist who gave so much of there talent to the fans and world for the last 30-40 years long overdue thankyou Pat&Neil from a Maori wahine toa from Aotearoa/New Zealand
Patty & Spyder Were Both BADASS THEN & They Are BOTH BADASS NOW & In The Rock & Roll Hall Of FAME!!! It's So Surreal To See Her In Her Aerobics Class... Patty Is Who Everybody PLAYED In Aerobics Class!! Red Rocks Is Where I Went Every Summer To Hear EVERYBODY!!!🙌....NO PLACE BETTER ANYWHERE!!!
The guy said she was the only one who could pull off the chick rock singer. I'm a HUGE Pat fan. I started playing hair guitar in 1985, when I was 15. I know most of her songs. The girls from Heart don't do so bad, either. Pat's definitely my girl, but they don't suck. 😁
❤deaddieamazing❤thank you I would have shat myself if I had saw this when it aired. I would have been like 10 at the time. And seeing for the first time at 53, I can contest this as “shitworthyfanfukintssticness”! Thanks x 1000 for capturing, curating and sharing this absolute treasure!
Wow - I remember watching this when it was originally broadcast. Get Nervous was my first concert - I was 14. Saw her again in 1999 (?) opening for Styx. And I just bought tickets to see her again in May in St. Pete.
I took her auto biography goose hunting with me. I read the entire book (first one in years), paused just long enough to call in a shot and went right back to reading it.. between a rock and a hard place. Pat ruled when I was early 20's, got to see her live show at the Uptown in KCMO when Crimes of Passion was just released. True rock goddess.
Thanks for posting this classic! Saw her and Neil live a few years ago. It was so much better than a lot today's new music. She is one rocker who has never compromised her values seems to have a beautiful heart.
Thank you so much for posting and if she was a Catholic ( as it was shown at the beginning of the video) believe me you, she was sponsored by the Mother Mary... If you saw all mother Marys stories and what she had went through, you could see the fist ball Spirit shining through here at her little angel hustler Pat.
Great transfer!! Cool interview!!! I forget the interviewers name, Steve Fox?? And winning an award in "79" when "Blonde" came out with "Heart of Glass". I would have liked to have seen that show!
Thank you for posting this, not seen it before. So young, strong and feminine (soft power of the divine feminine)but really inspiring at that time with the male-archy! She calls it out straight away, good. I have always loved their partnership and have to give a mention to amazing beautiful guitar guy "Spider" as well because what they have is magic and so real and it so resonated with me everything she said i was like, me too! No pun intended!!! Lolo Chere
@7:35 Kal Rudman said "Pat Benatar is the only female with the credibility, the believability to sing rock and roll" Blah, blah blah... has this clown ever heard of Heart?
Wish I could remember password to this account; lol. My first PB account ivegottaheadache got shut down; then I did ivegottaheadache2 passwords; so here I am at PatBenatarRulz. I lost all of the views that went with that channe lol.
Wendy O Williams was too hardcore & rugged for society back then. Pat had the softer appearence. Wendy Shaved her head & went for the Mohawk to give an even more menacing look. She was all about force & hard rock n roll ...and offstage she was a total sweetheart easy nice person into Fitness,Animal wellness No Meat, No fastfood sugar treat each other with respect & dont trust the government .. But she was too aggressive, risque for most of society back then.
Dude was much of a “rock expert” if he thought Pat was the first true female Rock n Roll singer…Janis Joplin, Suzi Quatro, Debbie Harry, Stevie Nicks, Grace Slick and others would beg to differ…love Pat but come on guy
The video forgot to mention that she abandoned her husband and child. I wonder if she ever threw them a few bucks to try to feel better about breaking her marriage agreements like "till death due us part"? Eventually the guilt eats up anybody just like I went through the same time her kid did.
Hey Rudman! You can eat your idiotic words when you claim that she's the only woman who can sing rock and roll, Pat's career was only possible because of the unbelievably powerful vocals of ANNIE.......you know.....WILSON? 😂🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉❤
Pat Benatar is the greatest female rock singer of all time. The woman started off as a trained opera singer, Neil Giraldo heard her potential and brilliantly brought it out of her.

Same !
always have loved Pat!
infatuated
I am 57, and still listen to her almost daily. Incredible voice, one of the best ever.
61 here and when I hear her on the radio the volume goes to 10! What earthy/powerful songs!
58 here and she's still my favorite.

Pat Benatar, Heart & Stevie Nicks were my idols! Best singers EVER. The 80's rocked hard.
Not Blondie?
@@mikeyoungblood94 blondie was better than them all, had hits ,with disco, rap, reggae, and new wave,
No Joan Jett?
Janis Joplin, Grace Slick, Stevie Nicks, Tina Turner, Blondie, Joan Jett, Doro, Siouxsie Sioux and Lee Aaron too.
Put Her in the Hall of Fame Now!! She has earned it! She Deserves it!
What! She's not in? That's Bullshit.
@@tres5533She is in now.

The Queen of Rock in my book!!!!

Her songs defined much of the 80s for me .... good stuff for sure!
She really is a rock goddess! I read her autobiography a few years ago and couldn't put it down. I really believe she's a nice person, unlike a lot of people in the entertainment industry.
+10vevideos No, I just have a regular job. Just my opinion of her. No inside information.
mysticaltyger2009 I read her autobiography in a few hrs in a Borders, spyder really made her, the suits did NOT "feel" him, Pat stuck to her guns & heart: voila, $$$ & true love
She's a rocknroll Queen!!!! I seen her live in the 80s a few times and they were fantastic!!!
I've always been a fan of Pat and Neil. I think they're a great example of good people doing good things and being rewarded for it.

Gutsy, sexy, tough rock star with a definite voice and smart😁
She has always had a good head on her shoulders. Great performer.
She really needs to be in a Rock and roll Hall of Fame I hope next year will be her year 😊💞
She is!!
I love her voice and music.
I also have utmost respect for the kind of person she is offstage.
Has her own style, not cookie cutter. With internet now and you Tube learning how awesome and classy this rocker is!
Thank you- this was great 👍
She is amazing !
My fave of all her music......captures her beautifully.....a beautiful and talented woman...
Thank You very much for this wonderful Upload ❤️
Wow, has the music business ever changed. I love this complete comprehensive interview. I don't think you'd see this today.
I didn't like her at first but, I LOVE her now. I've seen her live twice; Denver 1983 and Pueblo 2003.
The guy said she was the only one who could pull off the chick rock singer. I'm a HUGE Pat fan. I started playing hair guitar in 1985, when I was 15. I know most of her songs. The girls from Heart don't do so bad, either. Pat's definitely my girl, but they don't suck. 😁

She still rocks! Saw her and Neil last November. Been a fan since 79 and have seen her numerous times through the years.
I grew up w my momma and mawmaw blasting her all the time, and I love her more than anythin. I will always love her

Joplin was everything but feminine though. And the others applied a completely different formula.

How can this person, who is the size of Tinker Bell, have a voice that is the size of Andre The Giant ?

I am fortunate that today's medical community didn't get their hands on the little tomboy.
Two years later Madonna came on the scene and then it was Pat who?
ebonics4 everyone her dancing in "love is a battlefield" was odd back then & goofed on heavily
