Born in '64 and grew up listening to Pat and all that music. I knew that her and Neil were married but I didn't know the back story. I met my wife, now 32 years and going strong, when she knocked on a door of a friends house that I happened to be visiting. We married 7 weeks later. Sometimes it just be like that.

Not only is Neil a kick-azz guitarist/songwriter/producer, he was just a good dude with cool tude all the time with me back in the day. I'm very grateful still today for being fortunate enough to get quite a few guitar lessons from Neil when I was a young budding musician. The first garage band I formed was with a good buddy of mine from school Jimmy when we were both 13. One of the best things about it was Jimmy's nextdoor neighbor happened to be Neil Giraldo's parents house where he grew up in Parma, Ohio. We had a 5 piece Rock/Metal band with me & Jimmy on guitar & thought we were pretty decent for 2 young punk kid rockers. However, not so much when Neil would periodically knock on the door while we were practicing in Jimmy's basement. Neil could have easily been a dlck to us after hearing us doing a hack job on a RUSH or Zeppelin tune. But instead Neil was as cool as they come & not only took the time to help us play the tune the right way. He always went the extra mile to teach us a few new tricks, scales & different techniques to practice & have down the next time he knocked on the door or else. 😁 Although, that's the way we roll growing up in The-Land of the (216). Just keeping it a buck! +Peace Funk & Rock n' Roll 4 Your Soul My Friends+ 🤘😜🤘

Karen taught me how to sing, Donna taught me how to project my voice, and dearest Pat taught me how to rock with a big voice. She was IT for me as a teenager, and she still is. In 1991, one afternoon this man walks into the bookstore, came up to the counter and as soon as he asked me a question I KNEW HE WAS THE ONE FOR ME! So I listened to his interests/favorites in the world of literature, we walked over to the New Age section, which now it's called Spirituality (something like that) and handed him my favorite book: "Demonologists". One evening, we talked on the phone at one point for about 2 hours and I made a mental note that "OH YA HE IS THE ONE FOR ME!"
Then I didn't hear from him for what seemed like 10 years. So 3-4 years later he walks into the bookstore I transferred over to since the other one closed down, and was so excited, then he suddenly springs on me that, his exact words ,"I just got hitched" (to his high school girlfriend). WOW it felt so surreal, I just swallowed my heart. We stilled remained friends but at a certain level of awkwardness. After about 8-9 years later, they separated and he wanted to be with me 💗❤‍🔥💋. It was meant to be!! 🌹🌹🌹 My SOULMATE/SOULSPOUSE ❤‍🔥❤‍🔥❤‍🔥❤‍🔥❤‍🔥💋 We officially got married almost 3 years ago December 7th 💝💝💝💞

I’m 60 now, and graduated high school in 1982. Back in those days before the emergence of MTV, Pat Benatar was already on her way to stardom.
I had heard the name before, on Casey Kasim’s American Top 40, yet I never heard her songs. Then in the fall of ‘81 while I was cruising home from a part time job, I heard her track “Hit Me With Your Best Shot”.
Another one: In January, 1984, I entered Army boot camp. It seems like “Love Is A Battlefield” came out a couple of months before.

I have seen them a couple of times. He introduced her as my beautiful wife Patricia. That’s great that they have such a wonderful marriage. It’s nice to see that.

I remember staying up all night waiting to listen to the first release on radio of their album 1979 like it was yesterday. I dressed like her at a concert I went to see them sewn by me. I wax 5’2’ 92 pounds and in a rock band myself. She has the voice of an angel and their relationship, well, couple goals.

I love their story. You can tell how much they're still into each other, and a long-term love and work relationship is so hard to sustain.

It’s funny…. I was in college when these two came out. We/I was trying to book bands at my old school. When these two came out I fell in love with both her voice and his guitar playing. They were the perfect American pair. Yes, I fell in love with their sound and their act They were the most quintessentially American band I had ever seen. And I am so glad that they were successful both professionally and as a married couple. They are probably the best thing American out of the 1980’s. Period….

We belong to the light we belong to the thunder
We belong to the sound of the words we've both fallen under
Whatever we deny or embrace, for worse of for better
We belong, we belong, we belong together.

I never knew their story of "Them". All I knew was their band kicked some serious ass and she had the best female voice in rock and roll, plus she was (is) gorgeous. She was the Julie Andrews of rock, Low notes. High notes. She could hit them all and blow your stereo speakers in the process. And Neil, in my opinion, is the most underrated guitarist in the business. Just listen to his solo riffs and you can picture in your mind the finger work on the neck as you get chills listening. I have most of their albums and not a week goes by that I don't pull one out, sit down in front of the stereo and crank it up.

It's so rare that two talented people (or 3 or 4 or 5) can put their egos aside and care more about the partnership or the group than themselves. In fact, the more people you add to the mix the less likely it is to happen. The made some great music for a time and it's part of the soundtrack of my youth so I love them for that.

I always loved how they blurred the lines between hard rock and pop, even metal. Pat trashed the halls of tradition and said hey look you can headbang and you can dance too. It's ok. Just have fun and enjoy the music, it doesn't matter what it is as long as it's good.
