      When Christine left the band she sold all of her pianos at auction and retired to the countryside. Years later she returned to the band and Stevie told her that she was the one who bought them and she had been storing them all of these years. She gave the pianos back to Christine. That's friendship and sisterhood.

    I think it's worth mentioning that her having the baby would not have affected Don Henley or the Eagles. This is the way it is for so many women, that the consequences almost always fall on their shoulders, even when, as in Stevie's case, precautions were taken to avoid pregnancy.

    • @Anon54387
      @Anon54387 2 місяці тому +123

      You guys never mention the effect on the baby that lost its life, and by the way that was Don Henley's kid as much as hers but he had zero say in whether that kid lived or died. If people don't want a kid don't engage in the activity that creates a kid, she selfishly flushed away that kid's life so she could continue touring with a band.

    I got pregnant at the end of July 1979. My whole world turned against me because I refused to get an abortion. I ended up homeless. Worse I did not know who the father was. I went on to suffer a lifetime of suffering because I refused to get an abortion. When my son turned 42 DNA provided my son with the truth of who his father was. His father and his entire family have embraced him. A year later my son's brother died leaving my other son's children motherless and fatherless. Today the son I refused to eliminate has a wonderful life and is raising his brother's sons.

      I knew a girl in high school.... very pretty... somewhat promiscuous but not more so than any of the rest of us. Twenty years later I worked with her husband and we got to be good friends. One day he told me that the night before his wife, this pretty girl I had known in high school, started bawling about how she was a terrible person because she had aborted her child. She said she couldn't enjoy any of the material things she now had because in the back of her mind she knew the cost of those things was her baby's life. She was scared to die because she thought God would not be pleased she had the abortion. She was afraid she was going to hell. Most of all, she couldn't stand the thought of being confronted by the child she aborted in the after-life. What would she say to this child?
      Having a choice does not necessarily mean that the choice that we make is the RIGHT choice or the choice that we can live with. I readily admit that there are women out there who have had abortions who could not care less and not suffer any guilt. (Although the ones who have had multiple abortions... the ones who are using abortion as birth control.... are crazy. If you are having so much unprotected sex that you need to have 10 abortions you are also at a high risk of STD's. And if you need 10 abortions but are only having sex with one guy... you need to examine why you stay with that guy.)
      Let's not promote abortions to vulnerable teenagers and young women whose entire life may be destroyed by the guilt and loss of having an abortion. Let's not pretend that she is worldly enough to fully understand the choice she is making and the lifelong ramifications it will have. Let's not pretend that it is even her choice all of the time. Lot's of teenagers are pressured into abortions. Let's recognize that there are parents out there who pressure their daughters into abortions because they think they will be stuck with the cost of raising that child. Let's sympathize with the young girl who desperately wanted that child and will suffer for the rest of her life because her own parents forced her to get an abortion. I've known women whose parents forced them to have an abortion. One girl in particular came to understand at an intellectual level as she got older that neither she nor her parents could afford the cost of a baby at that time, but in her heart she still wanted that baby and she hates her parents for taking it away from her. There is no greater form of child abuse than forcing your daughter to have an abortion when she wants to keep that baby. Yes, you may be protecting her ability to go to college and have a career someday, but you also may be damning her to lifelong feelings of guilt and loss. Depending on her innate feelings about God, you may me condemning her to a lifelong fear of God and the afterlife.

      @@TheRealProfessorofBoogie But every story is different, i have a story for you, i am just not going to type it, there are so so many people who had kids, and they feel gilty their whole lives, because they could not raise their kids, or protect them, or feem them. I think an abortion is and should be a choice, not enforced- and no this this is not anti-life, people should be able to choose. From my work i know many many peeps whose brother or sister were abused by their sibling because the parents had like twelve kids, in the 90's and this happes still, in the USA, Europe, today, babies, toddlers and a few teenagers running in a house.......so many other cases with other scenarios....i am not anti- life, give your kid the best life, but, yes, i am pro choice, and an abortion should never be forced, and i know girls and ladies who have no guilt or regrets after an abortion, but i also have never met anyone who was forced to have one, i have met people who were glad with their choice, and i hope you will not deem them as less of value because their feelings are different of yours.

    I can't understand how it is #1, but I've been a Stevie Nicks fans as long as I've been an SNL fan and it would seem that all people who know one would know the other. I am shocked that people don't know her talent or how she empowered women through her songs. They're all about women having agency over their sexuality. I love it. I love all her songs and The Lighthouse is a message women need to hear.
    As a feminist Black Hispanic man it's always been my goal to empower women and Stevie has been my icon of an empowered women for decades! I only wish I could have met her in all this time. Women take precautions and still become pregnant and may still choose to have a child , but certain circumstances it may mot be best , and I speaking more for the child. An unwanted child is possibly in my view to me of the most hurtful things to be. I am not meaning to preach but Stevie is right to stand up and get people to consider the realities of how dark turning back on roe v wade is and also consider how shameful it is for us here in the United States to be going backwards on a number of issues that deeply affect people who already face a lack of acceptance.

As a middle aged woman (and musician) who always wanted marriage and children but am still single and barren, it's really difficult to relate other women and to deal with this kind of life. So when I heard Stevie Nicks give an interview about devoting her life to music instead of marriage and family, I thought "That's it! I am like Stevie Nicks! Stevie Nicks is not being completely honest. This is a revision of history from a narcissist as she had more than one abortion, it's been speculated as many as four or five. If she didn't want to be a mother, why did she marry her best friend's husband right after she died who had an infant son? That's a well known fact she's mentioned many times! What is not being said here is not all women are narcissists. We are all not capable of terminiating an unplanned pregnancy! As a narcissist, Stevie Nicks does not respect boundaries, has little empathy and talks about terminating a pregnancy like she simply got up to get a glass of water. Women, please do not follow this woman as a moral example! She may be a great rocker, she is not a great moral pillar and please search your heart and mind to determine how YOU will feel, if you can terminate a pregnancy and merrily go on with your life! Many can, don't let them be your guide! Know who you are and what type of personality you are, if you are a narcissist, narcissistic, normal or empath. Terminating a pregnancy may not be for you and it's something you can never go back and do over!
