A beautiful fly. Thanks for posting this and thanks to Jerry for the tips. I'm starving for composite loop resources. There were enough out there for me to learn the technique(and it took a few months to master the basics) but I could certainly do with some more ideas.

any reason why you never identify 'material' as what it is, ostrich herl? asking for people who are trying to learn and have no idea what those feathers are
Yeah, the reason is he treats the intruder as a platform/concept.... you could use rhea (sugar pop) flashabou ( prom dress) silly legs (squidro) marabou (lady gags) buck tail etc instead of ostrich.. note I named famous flies that do it.. the dubbing is the same thing polar bear,seal,turkey flat,angel hair, pred wrap, every material and mixture imaginable.. keep in mind this is for a experienced fly tying class and was filmed.. nobody should stArt with the intruder. That's like starting math with advanced algebra... the materials are insanely expensive and have low cross over with other flies. There's complex concepts like props and material balence. That's avoiding the complex composite loops. You don't wanna play trial and error with a hour+ expensive materials.... Jerry the co inventor took 55 min... hope that explains. I could help you or anyone with tying them if you need further explanation
We filmed this during a presentation at the shop. There was no way to film a separate video to show everything he was doing off camera without disrupting the event. We are hoping to do an in depth video this winter.
This is a platform, you can add or take away whatever you want, honestly though if you tie these enough they don’t take long at all. There’s a reason this fly changed the game but at the end of the day fish what you want
I love Jerry and appreciate his contribution to our sport, but goddamn there’s way too much information in his tying videos. I really don’t think it needs to be this complicated. Makes my head spin trying to keep up 😂
love Jerry. but the dirty hoe on Idaho's clear water wont be a big producer . when these fish travel over 800 miles to get here they respond more like trout. but I still tie and fish patterns of that caliber. i would love to fish the clear water with Jerry one day and maybe he can show me I'm wrong. with all do respect. ..

That's a new development in the last few months, at least publicly. He may have been keeping it under his hat for a while.
