In this fly tying tutorial I will show you how to tie an intruder. The intruder was invented by ed ward in the 1990s and has become one of the most well known steelhead flies in the industry.

You got it!
Nice bug... Love it
Thanks Jonah! I appreciate that!
Great fly ! What swim tank do you have ? Also, have you ever thought about showing how the fly swims in the swim tank?
I have the Flymen Fly tester! And YES! All my new videos have the swimming in them. This video was actually filmed before I got the swim tank but I updated the thumbnail because it looks cooler haha.
What’s you top fly for king salmon?
I’ve never caught a king of a fly they are super lock jawed once they are up river where we fish.
How are they better than traditional salmon flies used all over the world? The traditional salmon fly is characterized by excellent action underwater, resembling a fish. A good fly catches even the smallest movement of water. When viewed underwater while working, the Intruder looks flat to me, lacking the ability to glide and adequately respond to the changing water current. I don't understand what is so special about these flies that they are used for steelhead fishing 🤷♂️🤷♂️🤷♂️
No you’re right, stiff traditional flies do have more movement. We just tie these because we like big things in America.
