@kittymilkyyy there is. 1) social media is toxic.
      2) you should probably not use it anyway because its bad for your mental health.
      3) adults especially shouldn't be posting stuff like that like don't they have jobs and kids like actual normal adults? Too much time in their hands.
      4) act like a cringe idiot you might get called out on it. Same goes for people who dress like freaks and then get offended when old people or whoever else stare at them. Same as people with face tattoos and that, if you look like a fuckinf weirdo expect weird looks. It's not right but the TRUTH is people judge you instantly based on appearance and demeanor and behaviour. So if you go on like a fuckin idiot or a cringe loud and out there twat, normal people will judge you.

It's been theorised that we evolved to find embarrassment so unbearable because in the past, being ostracised by your tribe was literally a death sentence. Cringe is second-hand embarrassment, so we simultaneously feel both the pain of imagining being them, and also the desire to publicly reject them, so as to make it clear we are not in their group and do not condone their behaviour.

Like I get it, the comments can be annoying and shocking, but those are people who have no idea who she is, she will never meet them; 99% of them are lonely, depressed, and probably one negative life experience away from taking themselves out.
She expects everyone to love/accept everything she does, but thats just not how the world (especially the internet) works.

The "love surge" couple gave me a flashback to when I was like 15 and wrote my bf at the time a happy 1 year anniversary comment on fb and it was pretty cringe and super like "IDC WHAT THEY SAY OUR LOVE WILL LAST FOREVER" kinda deal. And I got home from school and a bunch of family was visiting and I could hear them all laughing in the living room as my older, cooler cousin was reading my comment out loud to the entire family and making jokes and laughing at me. I don't think I ever posted on fb again after that and was really really upset, but I can't even imagine what it would feel like if it was the entire internet making fun of me instead of just my entire extended family.

Because lots of content consumers are teenagers who, by cosmic law, will spend this phase of their lives obsessing over how others see them. I feel that Cringe is the same as any other emotion.
The reaction you give is what you feel about it, but like any other emotion, there is a spectrum of feelings. Some react extremely over cringe causing hatred. Others embrace cringe, thus cringe videos are made.
People are weird, even though we are unique, we all feel alone. This is why we tend to join groups, and communities, but end up joining groups inside of groups. Some try to be like others, others try to figure out who they are. Some realize what they are, and what part of the group they accept or associate with.
At the end of it all, we are all lost and seeking someone to be part of.

Maybe people had to have been there at the time, but it should be remembered that Dean, who had been polling 1st in Iowa (and in the whole race) for months, lost momentum at the end and came in 3rd place in the final tally; then he gave the "scream" speech to his Iowa crowd, after a disappointing finish, which is why people felt it was bizarre-after all, why would you give "victory speech" energy when you came in lower than expected? (Though, looking into the situation, the reason he seemed "too energetic" was actually because the media microphones weren't picking up the crowd's volume that he was shouting over, thus making him seem like he was shouting over near-silence.) Anyway, he didn't lose the nomination over that scream, because he arguably already lost his chance with that third place finish; while there's an argument that the media's over-replaying of that scream cost him New Hampshire the next week, the writing was already on the wall that Dean was done and Kerry/Edwards were the new front-runners.

Hasanabi had also claimed that they were cringe, and even made fun of their idol group dances, accents, and stereotyping them as Korean.

They keep their platforms, they continue to be successful and no responsibility was taken. Social media is so toxic and I do not blame people for taking breaks and staying off of it completely

There’a two types of cringe. There’s the “you should be embarrassed no matter what” type, then the “happy/playful/wholesome” type. The first one is inexcusable and is I feel like usually done on purpose, but I’ve seen it done unironically. It’s stuff like that alpha trend that happened a bit ago, or having Reddit/Discord mod energy. It’s usually stuff that makes you feel gross just watching it.
Then there’s the second type, which is usually done on accident. You could just be having a good time, and acting in a cringe-type way. Stuff like role playing, singing, early UA-cam videos, and anything that if you look back on, you’ll be in pain thinking about. This is more of the better type of cringe, it might be painful to watch or think about, but it’s not really ‘gross’. It’s people just having fun and being happy, which might end up being cringe, but it’s okay to do. You shouldn’t really be ashamed for it.
That first group completely deserve the shame in their cringe, no doubts about it. The second, not really. They shouldn’t be attacked for it, cause everyone’s done it somewhere in their lives. Remember that presentation in grade 7? Yeah, reflect back on that and tell me it wasn’t cringe. Do you want to be attacked for it? The pain of the cringe is already enough damage lol.
But seriously, don’t attack people who might seem cringe, but are just being happy. That second clip I honestly feel bad for, they just seemed really happy when they made it, and were completely attacked for it. Yeah, it’s definitely cringy, but it’s not like they’re hurting anyone with it. To threaten those things is absolutely disgusting, especially for a clip like that.

I'm not a psychologist/sociologist, so folks with that background, please chime in.
I remember seeing somewhere that it's a universal human trait (and possibly of all primates) to take social rejection very hard because, back when our ancient ancestors lived as small, wandering groups, being socially shunned was akin to a death sentence. Those social groups were vital to survive, and so being alone was almost a guarantee that you wouldn't last long. So over millenia, a high sensitivity to social norms and social expectations evolved to connect a reaction of disgust with behavior we viewed as "outside social acceptability". So "Cringe" could just the modern incarnation of this "social survivalist" evolved behavior.

First one was a bit weird, but ultimatly harmless. I can't be mad. But the second, while a bit silly, is super wholesome. They seem to love each other very deeply, and it's sort of sad how people will just get mad at other people being happy. It's just pathetic.

For the first one, hate started coming in cause the creator herself made a racist comment against a black person. What did the black person do to get such response? They simply said "The girl in the back is me, I am the girl in the back". I was hoping Charlie would comment on this but he prob did not notice.

Yeah, I don't feel cringe on that 2nd clip. It's silly and wholesome.
But then again, this is the internet, where lonely and disgusting rock dwellers feed and spit horrible stuff like they're projecting their insecurities. Twitter being the obvious example

I believe in the notion that you should keep shit you wouldn't show a group of random people you just met on the street away from the internet all the same. While it was wholesome, posting on twitter makes it a free for all for EVERYONE to see. Just send that shit to your friends, or family, even in a gc or a facebook group. While I don't condone online bullying, people who still naively think they can publicly post anything online and not expect at least one person to be a complete asshole about it is a recipe for disaster. Even your comments and mine are welcome to some asshole just strolling into this thread, not adding anything to the conversation and saying some vile shit like wishing harm upon us. It sucks, but it's what happens and you really can't fully control what everyone else does without infringing upon their own rights to express themselves. It's up to you to set up your expectations properly, and if you think what you're about to post is a bit more enticing for such douche-y people, then I don't think you should continue and just keep that shit in your own personal circle.

I think part of the reason why cringe is so unforgivable on the internet is the fact that people see it happen whereas in the case of people doing heinous shit, they generally do it off camera and people have this compartmentalization where if they didn't see it it didn't happen.

There is a lot of heinous shit that gets done on camera as well but I think the big difference is actually that with heinous shit, you don’t want to publicly share that. I mean some people do but if it is genuine awful stuff and you’re now making other people see it, you’re just kind of seen as an asshole. Not so much so for spreading “cringe” content. I mean some people can call you mean spirited and judgemental but that’s a much smaller thing and a lot less people are going to say about it
