  • Peter Vaughan reviews the latest Edition Pepper model from Weinsberg, part of the Knaus Tabbert Group. This new, 2023 model, low-profile motorhome has a great spec/price ratio and comes with TV, satellite dish and an awning. It's also one of the most affordable Mercedes-based motorhomes on the market. Inside, there's a popular single bed layout, while this 3,500kg motorhome also has a large garage.

    We’ve just upgraded from a van conversion to the 2024 Ducato based Weinsberg Caracompact edition Pepper and we love it because it’s a coach built Motorhomes that is not much wider than a van conversion

      Agreed. These slimmer coachbuilts are becoming very popular now, with lots more choice on the market

    A really nice motorhome. The Ducato based version was on our short list to buy last year but we couldn't find a dealer with stock available. Of course it's worse now, one has to be prepared for a lengthy delay after ordering.

      Yes, long delays on most models, especially anything on a Fiat

    Excellent value for money for Merc when compared to most VW pop tops that seem to be £70,000 as standard these days.
    The overhead cupboard thing is really annoying, I can't understand why they don't put the cupboards at the foot end of the bed so that you can sit up to have a coffee and watch the news in the morning.

    • @MotorhomeCampervan

      Totally agree regarding the cupboards over beds. Look at Itineo's single bed A-class to see how it should be done!

    I was so going to diss this van because you pay £100k ish and have to make your bed - until he showed the lounge area at the front. Then I thought “WTF!! Wow”. The rear is a permanent bed that converts into a lounge!!!!
    Think about it. Game changer. I’m serious. How many van conversions do convertible lounges into a bed without an alternative at the front? This has both, thus, rear wise, permanent bed: have guests? Convert the bed- simples.

    Ours is the Fiat one in the SMC showroom.... have to wait till Jan to pick it up. We weren't even looking to change but were so impressed we had to buy it.

      Enjoy. It's a great 'van. Always good to shop around, but also bear in mind the distance to return to the dealer where purchased for warranty work

    Which is worse, banging your head on the top locker above your bed, or suffering the slings and arrows of discontent coming from your best beloved because there are not enough cupboards?

    • @MotorhomeCampervan
      @MotorhomeCampervan  Рік тому +1

      Put the cupboards along the side walls of the bedroom, instead of above your pillows - plenty of storage, no banged heads.

    "that little bit extra" (for the Mercedes) is £10,100 extra. Just saying . . . ! . . . .though it is still far cheaper than a lot of panel vans.

    • @MotorhomeCampervan
      @MotorhomeCampervan  Рік тому

      That's not comparing like with like. Start adding the extras (over £3k for auto) and the Fiat is a lot closer to Merc price.

    Its a knaus on a Mercedes?

    • @MotorhomeCampervan
      @MotorhomeCampervan  2 роки тому +1

      Sort of. Weinsberg is a slightly more entry-level brand from the Knaus Tabbert Group. But Knaus doesn't build on Merc, only VW, MAN and Fiat

      My granny is long gone and I don't usually take hostages but you certainly could fit few dogs in the garage, especially if they're as small as my German Spitz!

    I'm always surprised at how small these things are inside !! I see lots of older couples in these things ( or even worse the small panel van conversions) and see them suffering with the lack of space and the awkwardness that results in moving around . My advice if your going on a long tour would be to go the larger A class route and enjoy a far more civilised way of living on the road

    • @MotorhomeCampervan
      @MotorhomeCampervan  2 роки тому +5

      Have you tried living in a 'van like this? This is a very popular size of motorhome and, unless you are very large or very immobile, you should have no issues with space. Indeed, this is a top-selling model in Germany.
      Going for an A-class wouldn't necessarily mean any more space, except in the cab and would, typically, be much more expensive. Don't fall into the trap of buying a bigger 'van that you then can't easily park anywhere when you're touring!

    • @justinlinnane8043
      @justinlinnane8043 2 роки тому

      @@MotorhomeCampervan I have a very large 9m x 2.5m vintage Hymer 900 so perhaps I am bias about the space issue . I have also been full timing for eight years and use my motorhome in a different way to most owners. Full timing requires a complelty different psychology to touring a few weeks in the year and to opt for a small van conversion or MH isn't ideal if you're planning to live in it . Far too many compromises on space in my opinion. Fine if you're young .Not so great when your'e in your late fifties and older. I cant tell you how nice it is to have what is essentially a mini apartment to live and I cant count how many times I'e met older couples on long full timing trips who regret opting for a small van at the expense of quality of life when you arrive at your destination. Worth mentioning as the new trend is to push ever smaller vans to buyers without really discussing this obvious shortcoming.

      Ma non è un camper piccolo nemmeno per le persone anziane, allora cosa dovrebbero fare chi acquista il van di 6 metri? Suicidarsi? Per favore cerchiamo di essere seri, un camper di 6 metri e 75 e la dimensione perfetta per vivere lunghi tour dura te tutto l’anno e con uno spazio umanamente ottimo, senza dimenticare che con i camper troppi grandi, oggi puoi andare solo nei campeggi quindi sono limitativi
