Good driving, both of you! Definitely different in a Class A. The view is fantastic. My first and, so far, only experience driving a Class A was team driving my parent’s rig from Hemet, CA to Port Townsend, WA with my uncle and brother-in-law. I took the first leg from Hemet to somewhere along I-5 North. Easy to drive. The only dicey part on that leg was an overpass somewhere around LA where it seemed we were about a mile in the air on a narrow ribbon of concrete. Added to how high one is in a bus, it seemed very precarious!
Thanks for the great videos! Enjoying them and your search for a new rig immensely!

Now, go find a diesel pusher that you like the floor plan. Your braking concerns will disappear. Then when you get over the 50+ mph area, your comfort level will increase, especially the amount of engine noise you have in a front engine gasser.. You won't be yelling in a conversation. Safe Travel-Have Fun.

As a British Expat I completely understand your trepidation, as the first time I drove a Class A was when I flew to Houston Texas to take ownership of one I had won on an internet auction. When I arrived at the dealership, he give me the title and keys and said, "Good Luck!". That was it - no driving school or teacher. So, I drove that monstrosity from downtown Houston through traffic to eventually get on the motorway. I kept thinking to myself "Now I know what a double decker bus driver feels like." It was an amazing experience, and it doesn't take long to sort out how to go about it. Good luck.

I have traveled around the country in a Winnebago 27n class A. The breaking was always a concern for me until I realized if you engage the tow haul, even when not towing, It will stop twice as fast as it down shifts coming up to the stop sign or light. Every time I was in traffic I would engage the tow haul and then was comfortable with the stopping capabilities of the MH.

I bought a DP (36 ft) from General in Tampa this spring. Drove it from Tampa to Ocala on the first day (never having driven one before!). I set off the lane departure a LOT in that couple of hours. But after that, got used to where the coach needed to be in the lane. I love driving it now. We have a Tiffin red 37 BA it is incredible! It’s much quieter than our Hurricane gas motor home and so much less work than the 2022 Imagine bumper pull we had. We get to a campsite, do a quick check. Then my husband goes in and pushes one button and we are level. Let out the slides and thats it. If it’s raining, we don’t even hook up yet- that can be done later. Everything is self contained. We flat tow our Jeep grand Cherokee using an NSA ready brute two with surge brake. Takes maybe two minutes to hook and unhook.
Also a neck light lets me crochet or read at night and it doesn’t bother my husband . The light is directed downwards, and when I turn to look at him it doesn’t flash him in the face like a headlamp would. 😂

I enjoyed that you went through the range of emotions I did when i first drove the Foretravel Gasser. But after driving my Fleetwood Bounder, there was no comparison and bought the 2008 Fleetwood Bounder 38V Turbo Diesel. Air ride, air brakes and engine in the rear where you simply do not hear any engine noise! My 37,000 rig gets 10.5 - 11 mpg which is significantly better than a gasser! I can also tow 15,000 pound tow vehicle like it is not even there. My 2008 does not use DEF (fuel additive) and instead collects the diesel emission particulates and incinerates them in a special operation. Cleanly and efficiently. PLEASE consider buying a Diesel. Dont write off the pre-2009 models which do not require DEF and are better built than a 2023 0r 24 model!

I work for an RV dealership. The class A diesels are the easiest to drive, but more expensive to buy and maintain. Class A gas would be next because of a heavier duty chassis. The class C wallows and rocks more because of the van chassis being usually a 450 or 550 duty. You’ll get used to the gasoline A if you decide to go that way. Personally I think you’ll be happier is some version of an A class coach. Should you desire to look at a preowned diesel, The Motorcoach Store in Bradenton is a good resource. Ask for Brad. Good hunting.

The only thing I didn’t like was some poor visibility on the passenger side with any crossroad that was at an angle, or for example those exit ramps in Texas where you are merging with traffic coming in from the right. I’m always curious about what Americans think of your accents. Encourage them to speak back to you in a British accent and you’ll find that the interactions are hilarious. The main problem you may have is the need for incontinence pads! 😂😅 Do it, do it! Life should be fun🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿🇬🇧🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿

If your 2014 Explorer is 2-wheel drive with the 3.5 or 3.7 it can be flat towed. I know someone who has one and he tows it flat (wait that's me). From 2020 to now, you can no longer flat tow a Ford Explorer.

2014 ford explorer sport 4WD so we assumed no and then a friend sent us this from the manual “Vehicles Equipped with a 3.5L or 3.7L Engine. You can tow your all-wheel drive vehicle with all four wheels on the ground or with all four wheels off the ground using a vehicle transport trailer. Do not tow your all-wheel drive vehicle with the front wheels off the ground (by using a tow dolly) and the rear wheels on the ground”

My wife would panic Driveing a Class A, Like if she would be Pilotesting a Cessna 172 She doesn't even drive our 26 ft Class C, But she does drive my Nissan Xterra Pro 4X, So I recently down graded to a Jayco jay flight SLX 154bh, I hope she doesn't panic with this little thing.

Do you hear all the plastic creaking and rubbing in the background? That will get old really fast going down the road. We drive a Volvo 860 pulling our 5th wheel. Way quieter and better fuel mileage than these things get. And don’t even think about what might happen if you get in an accident with these.
