- At 11:13, during the closing credits, the video erroneously credited the clips to the movie Carousel. Obviously, It should have said Oklahoma.
UA-cam increased the video upload limit from 10 to 15 minutes. I restored some portions of the songs I deleted on my earlier "Oklahoma" video to stay within limit, incorporated tighter transitions and made some minor changes as suggested on some comments I have received. Here's the new recomposed video. I hope you like it.
This song can bring tears to my eyes! I'm 32 in 2023, and I can't get enough! I grew up watching this, and I'd prefer this over anything I hear now a days!
He had the most beautiful voice.
Both Gordon McRae and Shirley Jones had the best duets in all the Rodgers and Hammerstein musicals. I love listening to them
Yes they are wonderful 😊❤️ I LUV Calamity Jane Doris Day ! I know the words to another of the songs !! Also the sound of Music !! That was the GREAT OLD DAYS OF MOVIES
Just be sure to avoid London's West End's version of Oklahoma - it was nothing like this; they ruined every bit of magic in it. Many people walked out and felt ripped off...
OMG - they don’t do duets like this anymore - when you’re fed up of what 2022 has to offer, watch this and your troubles will soon diminish - so beautiful 👍🤗
They don't do healthy musicals like this anymore either, and I doubt this nation will ever see one again. The time of that musical was time of great Americans, and it was about a previous time of even greater Americans.

Escapism much? Life in OK or anywhere in the US was never like this. It's a story, like most musicals, a fairytale version of life. Even gritty ones like Paint Your Wagon or South Pacific are romanticized.
@@bcaye Really, you don’t say 🤔😂
I couldnt get enough of musicals when i was young this was one of my favourites
Hi. Did I read "younger"? Hello from Rochester, NY 🇺🇸.
Arguably the finest American musical ever produced. The songs were just wonderful and fitted the story line to perfection.
Over and over again, I watch and listen to this wonderful musical...sadly, today no one can create musicals like Rodgers and Hammerstein.
...
Love this musical.....Gordon McCrae was gorgeous and had a fabulous voice.....Shirley Jones beautiful with the voice of an angel...
Gordon MacRae's rich baritone contrasts nicely with Shirley Jones's lyrical mezzo-soprano vocals.
@@allenjones3130 they did sound wonderful together...here and in Oklahoma too.

Shirley Jones trained as a
Coloratura Soprano.
I got to see a concert of hers, about ~37 years ago, with really good seats.
The song "Oh, What a Beautiful Morning" often comes to mind when I see a beautiful morning. I'm so glad to have grown up in a time when tv channels like 44 out of San Francisco used to play musicals like Oklahoma, Carousel, South Pacific, On The Town, and Paint Your Wagon. Not to mention comedies like The Bowery Boys and Abbott and Costello. It's a shame so many people born in the eighties, up to today, wont watch these great old movies. They're REALLY missing out, and don't know it.
Rose colored glasses are always welcomed every now and then to open and warm the Heart! Such good memories with this sound track!
"Oh what a Beautiful Morning" This song has always given me a great feelgood sensation. It's the only song I want at my funeral as it sums up the way that I look at every new morning.
This film is always a top favourite .
A beautiful, entertaining movie. Gordon McRae and Shirley Jones are superb. 🥰👍
Oh what a beautiful Movie! have to watch every time I’m felling low.
Gold Standards in Film 🎥
When I was little I thought Gordon Macrae and Shirley Jones were two of the most gorgeous people I had ever seen and on top of that they could also sing like angels.
Great songs and great music in this movie. And of course shirley and Gordon two of the best voices ever
I can just hear my late Mom's voice singing to these beautiful songs. It's my favorite musical 😇💖😇
I first saw this film when I was 11years old. That was in 1957 I was staying in Finsbury Park London with my friend from school Linda Hinton with her Mom & Dad. We stayed at Linda's Auntie house her mother's sister. We where on holiday there and had a lovely time. Linda's Mom took us to the local Cinema to see Oklahoma. It was such a thrill I had one of my very best holidays ever and to see this film which had just come out was amazing and wonderful I have never forgot it. I'm 76 now so truly a wonderful memory forever. 💖 🥰❤
Oklahoma! was the first American production to open in London's West End after the war, in spring 1947. I saw a documentary once where people who saw those first performances talked about its reception. London was still bearing so much bomb damage from the blitzes, and the UK was on its knees economically. According to those audience members they spoke to, when Howard Keel walked onto the stage singing "Oh, What a Beautiful Mornin'", people wept to hear such warmth and optimism. It meant so much to them. The show was a huge hit.
yep, I cried. just like I thought
You and me both.
This is by far my favorite musical. Reminds me of my dear grampa😭🙏🏻💞
American genius at work! This will live forever. Thank you for uploading.
OKLAHOMA! THE ORIGINAL 1955 MUSICAL HERE! AMAZING VIDEO!
Gordon McRae plus Shirley Jones make this a wonderful and classic movie and now video. They were both great singers and actors. This is my favorite video on of all of UA-cam!!!
Gordon McRae was superb. Shirley Jones was young and beautiful with an incredibly lovely soprano voice. This is my favorite video on all of UA-cam!
agreed with that
If only he were still alive.
My Husband loves this I play it for him every morning he sings along he is a WW11 & KOREA Veteran thank you & you make people happy Blessings
Shirley Jones.. "Shirley Partridge"?? I didn't know.. yeah, woof.
I love Carousel, too!
Count me in. It's a favorite of mine.
My Grandfather Charles J. White & Grandmother Olga loved this great music, we saw all the Musicals at the Philharmonic in Los Angeles back when California was young.
I have always loved musicals; especially if they have Gordon MacRae starring in them! He is my favorite male singer! Love, Liz
+Elizabeth Smith Your picture / post reminds me '' Let people say where in Love ".
The best musical movie I have ever seen.
Oh what a beautiful day! 👍🤗
Absolutely my fabulous beautiful favorite also
No matter what I feel .'' Oh what a beautiful morning ".

SUCH A BEAUTIFUL MOVIE, BEAUTIFUL SONGS, BEAUTIFUL PEOPLE.1955 A VERY GOOD YEAR!
So much rendering in stereophonic sound is really outstanding!!! AND sweety in stereophonic sound!!!!!!
Gordon McRae had the best sining voice. He could have easily got himself a record deal after acting if he chose to.
He did have a very fine voice. A voice and delivery that few can match.
Gordon had a recording contract with Capital Records for over 25 years.
Dear Romi, I have watched this video 100 times! This production of Oklahoma is timeless and wonderful! With Gordon McRae here and Shirley Jones this is an extraordinary video! Thanks so much for putting this on UA-cam!
This video, Oklahoma is simply the best!
Try them in Carousel but it is sad. Singing wonderful there too if you haven’t
already.❤️🇬🇧
Oklahoma .my favourite film at age 13 .saw it in brighton with the whole family .the only two still alive are my cousin and me from that family gathering that sunny sat.afternoon .in 1962.
One of my favorite musicals. What more can I say?
Memories...when I wanted to make my husband laugh, I would start singing “Oklahoma” and I couldn’t carry a tune in a bucket.
I was excited when, as a very young boy, my mother said we were going to see Oklahoma at the excellent (!) San Bernardino Civic Light Opera, as Broadway musicals had their principal songs on the radio in days past. As we parked behind the theater, I saw the surrey with the fringe on top in the lot behind the theater. Unfortunately, I don't think I made it past the overture, fell asleep, and never saw it live. We later went to see this excellent film with Gordon MacRae and Shirley Jones. It's a classic.
My goodness what a voice! Wonderful cast a sure classic. Can not get enough.
Gordan and Shirley, the best. Nobody did it better!
This is also one of my very favorite movies along with Carousel! Thank you so much for posting this one! Liz
Absolutely marvelous. Dec 2021. Port Dover Ontario Canada. More to add- Sensational
Saw it when it was released in about 1956. Still watch it about once a decade.
Thank you for posting this. Beautiful singers. I remember singing this in music. This is the best version.
Saw this in Todd A O vision when it came out in Wash. DC! Beautiful picture, great sound.
Thank you so much for the walk down Memory Lane❤
Love this! My dad was an extra when they filmed this in Sonoita. Like to listen to this on my old 78's playing on the Victrola. Ah, memories:) Don't make um like this anymore!
I live in Tucson, and my people are from Oklahoma, so it just adds to the reason that I love it...that it was filmed so close to where I live ♥ - no mountains like that in the state of OK (love it anyway, though). 😉
Died and buried in Lincoln, Nebraska, His cemetery stone has the music of this song on it.
Thanks for the video. I was rather young when Gordon Macrae/Shirley Jones starred in this movie. I only heard about it from my mother so I’m glad I get to see/listen to this musical.
GORDON McCRAE AND SHIRLEY JONES!
This is A Truly Magical Video! It captures all the greatness of OKLAHOMA - and the Greatness of the Two Iconic Stars - Gordon McCrae and Shirley Jones! It was an amazing show!
Thanks so much for posting this video and the great editing. I showed it to my son - age 28 and E mailed it my daughter -age 25. This is great show music that must be preserved, Appreciate the great editing and posting!!!
I agree, I saw the original @ the movies in my teens and fell in love with it. I even like Judd!!! But what a fabulous soundtrack. Thanks, Carole 🙂
What a beautiful montage! Thank you for posting. Love this film. I was only 3 yo when released so obviously never saw it on the big screen. Gordon McRae and Shirley Jones were top notch. She was new to films only 21 yo!
Yours God sent Romero I'm writing from my 4yesr old grandson tablet what memories and they feel so good brings me right back into my twenties thank you
I never get tired of watching this movie. Nearly 60yrs old now and still as fresh and entertaining as ever. Would have loved to have seen it in its "original film format" on the Big Screen. (Cinema nowdays is just rubbish- Big screen Video yuck- I don't go anymore)
one of my favorite movies. thank you so mush for sharing this.

LOVED IT THANKS IT BROUGHT BACK A LOT OF WONDERFUL MEMORIES
That's probably California in the background but it looks like northeastern Oklahoma. Oh, how I miss it! And Southeast Oklahoma, its mountains, and its fly-fishing streams and creeks!
Those were the days ❤😊
Thank you for doing such a great job! I had to hear this today because
I sure miss living in OK. You see, I live in CA now...
Again, thank you.
💙💛💜🩵💚Thanks 4 sharing Romi Panlilio! 💙💛💜🩵💚It's beautiful. 💚💜💛💙🩵
Thank God no blue screen! He's really out there.
The 1955 version is still hard to beat, and the best of the film/video formats. . Seeing it on Broadway is best. Anyone want to chime in?
I last saw this movie around 1975.
Many thanks for the superb video and sound recording of this classic production.
Traditional men and women today are scarce but appreciated
Growing up we had a 78 rpm record that had the song “Oklahoma”. That was probably the first word I learned to spell from listening to and singing along with it.
MERCI BEAUCOUP FOR yur incredible WORK concerning that incredible FILM! Emmanuel Viala from FRANCE
Can't thank whoever enough for this. I have just spent twelve minutes in Heaven. And I am a devout atheist. I can remember this so well from the 1040's when I was a schoolboy. September, 2023. England.
Jake was chomping on his tiparillo, as usual, and the customers came in to talk. Gordon came in once with his new wife, and a teller yelled so loud that Gordon turned to look at the bank floor. I was embarrassed. Gordon came on bold to exclaim how a morning could look on a cornfield. A great moving performance the likes of which you'll never see again, and it's just what we could use right now.
Wonderful. Thank you ❤
71st Anniversary of Broadway Opening. March 31, 1943. An American masterpiece and always being performed. somewhere in USA.
Original name was away we go.
Pure fantastic music
A peach tree behind this couple 5:35 sweet music, Rogers & Hammerstein,
I LOVE THIS SOOO MUCH!!!!!
Beautiful music
Gordon MacRae was the Alfie Boe of his time. Granted He was a baritone and Alfie is a tenor. But they both have these beautiful clean, pure vpices.
I heard of Mr. Boe--he's worked with one of my favorite singers, Katherine Jenkins!
Excelente.....Magistral.....Muy bello compendio de una obra maestra !
Love this Musical... Love Most Musicals...
American icons of musical theater. Talamted performers Shirley Jones and Gordon MacRae
Much as I enjoy Hugh Jackman's Versatility, Gordon McRae is nonpareil for Baritone tones singing performances particularly in this Musical. . Shirley Jones's Soprano was outstanding yet still underappreciated as a performer at the time. She was so much more gifted than her contemporaries of that era.
LOVE this so nice
One of my favorite musicals, with Gorgon McRae, Shirley Jones & Charlotte Greenwood.
Beautiful move
Gordon: cute AND handsome, fiesty, confidant, mischievous, can sing his sweet backside off. He is the epitome of sexy.
yeah girl!
First they get you addicted to movies with good clean movies like this one, then they fill your mind with Garbage with movies like Barbie.
These musicals will never be possible now. They were the best of the best. I would likeca penny for each time I have watched them. 68 years old and still so enjoyable to watch.
Yes I agree.
Prior to seeing this, I had forgotten the good character actors in the supporting cast - Red Buttons, James Whitmore, etc.
Take anyone of these stellar musicals, or most movie and stage productions from decades ago, and any 'one' cast from any of these productions have more talent than all of the theatrical and movies actresses and actors today - combined.
Red Buttons?
Actually Mr. Buttons wasn't in this film. The great Rod Steiger was, though!
How dare UA-cam interrupting this wonderful song with a commercial 👎 shame on UA-cam.!
The corn you see growing was grown at a college ag school ,It was grown in pots and had to be extremely tall to fit the song.
@barochial I appreciate the comment. Thank you for watching!
Brilant. why don,t they make they make them like this anymore.
this makes me feel so giddy! :D
What about south pacific next ?another fantastic film.
i have the bluray its beautiful
her gown is soooo pretty!! and she sounds like a disney princess.. i hope i get to dress up and sing in a theater like this :))) please wish it for me too? thank you!!
❤
