As soon as he said The first syllable Of the sentence “Shouldn’t be windy in 20 miles” the Wind will smack the driver window and you’ll say “Oh Shit! I feel like I’m on 3 wheels man!”
Definitely a learning curve. Winter in the high plains states is ghastly. Weather you cannot control, but where you drive is. You'll figure this out and it won't happen in future runs. Take care!
Alex: “I’ve been stuck here for 4 days!, I never want to see this truck stop again!” The weather: allow me to introduce myself. Also Alex: here we are again home sweet home 😑
Alex, your mistake was expecting that Wyoming would have their roads open. Wyoming is always the first to close the highways, and the last to open them. You would've been much better off going down to Denver, and going through the middle of the Colorado rockies; THEY keep the highways open! It would've been almost 200 miles of the steepest mountain highways, but you would've got to SLC at least 2 days sooner.
Just a heads up....when it's the winter time just stay away from 80 completely. Tell your dispatchers to route you around it if your going west to interstates like 40 or 10 depending on what part of the west coast you are going to. Driving 80 or 90 in the winter time is basically asking to have all your time wasted by sitting
The fact that Alex is driving the Freighleiner in the same colour combination and interior spec as mine is in American Truck Simulator is just plain ridiculous coincidence. 😁
Dunno if you saw my recommendation earlier. For emergency potty get a #10 can and a bag of kitty litter. If you don't like roughing it like that, then go to an outdoor sporting store and get a portable chemical terlit. That way you have an emergency terlit you can use in your rear of the cab. Both stop all odors and you can simply dump the waste in the trash at the next rest area or truck stop. Works very well.
You might really like the heated work gear, your choice from socks and glove liners to thermal clothing liners to pants and coats, jackets and vests. They work by battery and if you like the heat packs you might need really love these! And you can set it from Low Med High. And just switch it off and the heat stays inside the coat, etc. for a pretty long time and it takes the chill off of it without wearing it while icy cold
Good morning Alex! 💪 Thank you for trucking America's goods! 👍👍. Do you ever get on the radio and ask other truckers if the road is still closed? If Garmin tells you to detour onto the Beartooth highway, please ignore him. Stay safe. p.s. that Ecuadorian sweater is awesome! I love it.
Maybe try 511..most states have it I believe. Might be helpful; it gives road closures, road condition, access to live Cameras\video, and plow trucks locations (if they are out) and other useful information. Each state is different, but the basics are the same for each.
Thanks for the awesomesauce video Alex. You poor kid. And BTW you can poo on the side of the road. It isn't pretty, but you do what you need to. Actually I recommend, get coconut shell and a 5 gallon pail. Keep your grocery bags. Make sure to keep your #1 & #2 separate!! The coconut shell helps the poo become compost. But if 1 & 2 mix you will get hydrogen sulfide formed (that bad egg smell) which can suffocate you. Be safe out there.
i was thinking the same thing lol i saw snow blow onto the road but i didnt see anything that would make a driver back track 60 miles and sit another day lol
If you can’t make it all the way through Wyoming or Montana, it’s best to find a place to park, because if you stop in them for the night you might be snowed in when you wake up.

Depends on what you are doing in the truck. If it has a bunk heater that will work all night just fine for staying warm unless it's like 20 degrees or colder than that then I just run the engine all night. I also have to run the truck for a bit while I'm playing games on the gaming laptop so the batteries don't die. I get low voltage playing with the laptop for just a few hours if the truck is off. Most of the time just run the truck while I'm gaming, then turn it off and use bunk heater for sleep.

With Diesel under 15 degrees F the fuel gels up and you can’t do anything once it is in that state until it gets warmer unless you put additives in the mix before hand and they don’t always work perfectly so a lot of mega carriers tell you not to shut down under 20 degrees. Also when living in the truck there is a bunk heater that uses diesel but when that cold that line gels up so you keep the truck running for heat so the driver doesn’t become a popsicle.
If he was idling its about 4-5 days on a full tank. BUT, GP has bunk heaters, and an APU, so probably a couple of weeks before he ran out of fuel. Ive only gone a week with just my APU on and my fuel gauge hardly moved after a week.
