All I do to move the fifth wheel is lower the landing gear until the feet touch the ground. Then I go inside the truck snd lower the air bags. Release the air out of the air bags, then slightly nudge the truck back and fourth and the pins pop and release .
5th wheel slide, crank the trailer legs down to barely touch the ground dump the air susp, it will slide like butter. The steer depends on tires, and axle type of front. In the kenworth, they tend to ride heavy on the steer, I find only fueling 3/4, and keeping the 5th wheel favoring the back right in the middle of the two drives is the best location as far as weight goes
My wife has never operated a commercial vehicle and even she gets pissed off watching this guy. First off he didn’t even pull onto the scale correctly. Next, he doesn’t know the weight or length laws at least have a cheat sheet. He wants to slide the fifth wheel and doesn’t even know how much weight that will save him so we had to look that up. I don’t even think he had to slide the fifth wheel in the first place. And the cherry on top is that he put a lock on the left door which means anybody could’ve got into that trailer. Baffling.
Considering old trucks had fixed 5th wheels you should never have to slide your 5th wheel. He definitely doesn't pull up far enough. Saying this as a grumpy trucker.
5th wheel plate, a couple of years driving and he doesn’t know parts of his truck yet. A skid plate is on 4 wheel drive pickups to protect transmission’s.
40ks is considered the start of heavy weight/load but not unusual. You should always be able to keep your 5th wheel centered between your drives and move your rear tandems forward or back to balance your weight. If you do it correctly your weights should be within/around with full tanks) s=11,500 d=32500 t=32500 I would do weights similar to that hauling Coors loads. ( 40k plus or minus )
I haul batteries going 40-43k usually and it's been literal years since I last moved the fifth wheel compared to just moving the tandems. The only time I even start to think of it is when I get a junk trailer but usually I can get the trailer fixed faster than I can get the fifth wheel free.
@@Hybris51129 Yup, me too. I can remember I had moved my 5th wheel once after I had backed into a dock and my tractor was sticking out into the street a little bit to much for my comfort so I “squished” my position. Ha!
Bro, you are flying down that back road. 63mph on a single lane backroad in a loaded truck… come on man. If you need to emergency stop or slow down you woulda been phucked
Well you need to study a bit more on weight items. As a general rule the steer axle weight is limited to 12000 lbs. The states that allow higher limits are few, and the front suspension would also have to be rated for that weight. Most if not all OTR trucks have a suspension rated at 12000. Hope that helps.
Oh,, and Alex when backing into a spot whether dock or parking spot, as you approach your space, stop look at it and then look exactly opposite of the spot to help you determine how to maneuver into your space. Don’t just trust your mirrors.
Dude 12,120 is fine. 1st) you’re gonna burn fuel off. That’ll take weight off your steers and drives. 700lbs for ever 100 gallons. You can do the math at your MPG. 2nd) the allowed steer axle weight is what the rating on the sidewall of the tire is.
It's a good thing you have been going to the gym. 40 thousand pounds is nothing for you 🤣. Keep on trucking I'm glad I'm retired from driving. Be safe and God bless.

Ha!
@@intrasourceGOD is NOT bullshit
Sliding your 5th wheel over 120lbs is crazy 🤣
Move the tandems up one space and he would have been fine this guy makes every excuse in the book to not just drive
Bro, you are flying down that back road. 63mph on a single lane backroad in a loaded truck… come on man. If you need to emergency stop or slow down you woulda been phucked
What are those straps in the trailer holding apart from fresh air?
In the UK we use load bars to go right upto the pallets your hauling
I have a question when I drove semi I always pull up to the speaker to weigh my truck has something change staying behind the speaker
It's still the same, what he did for this video was set the trailer brakes and back up hard to fake the overweight.
Your steer tires combined weight rating determines your front axle weight to include the front weight rating
they definitely wouldn't have messed with you over 120 pounds and always make sure you pull all the way up
I enjoy your content. Keep it up and ignore the haters.
From what I hear GP transco fired this guy from how much he’s been complaining among other things . Makes sense if you ask me.
It's true, he no longer works for GP.
Smh
Well you need to study a bit more on weight items. As a general rule the steer axle weight is limited to 12000 lbs.
The states that allow higher limits are few, and the front suspension would also have to be rated for that weight. Most if not all OTR trucks have a suspension rated at 12000. Hope that helps.
Oh,, and Alex when backing into a spot whether dock or parking spot, as you approach your space, stop look at it and then look exactly opposite of the spot to help you determine how to maneuver into your space. Don’t just trust your mirrors.
Most DOT officers won't give a hard time about being with in 2 hundred lbs over
Nothing but love Alex. ❤i love you videos 💯💯
Now that you adjusted the 5th wheel don't move it again
Dude 12,120 is fine.
1st) you’re gonna burn fuel off. That’ll take weight off your steers and drives. 700lbs for ever 100 gallons. You can do the math at your MPG.
2nd) the allowed steer axle weight is what the rating on the sidewall of the tire is.
I thought u said u gonna go india after 1mil subs? Is there a video of it?
I love to see people finally cooking this dude in the comments lmfao. People have been mad at me for so long for clowning him
but yet you still watch...
I respect this mans hussle. He's much smarter and more successful than my brother in law.
Not saying much about your brother in law.
It's a good thing you have been going to the gym. 40 thousand pounds is nothing for you 🤣. Keep on trucking I'm glad I'm retired from driving. Be safe and God bless.
You also have to ensure your steer tires are rated for the weight your putting on them.
i drive overweight almost daily, just drive at night most weigh stations are closed.
Follow what your truck says for steers my 24 freightliner is 13220lbs aloud on steers
Did you ever hear of dropping the bags? You avoid having to crank the trailer so much
They will give you 120lbs on your steers just as long as your other axels are good and your not overweight. And if all else fails hop on the turnpike there's no scales
21:02 minute video of a dude just *btchin*
Since when did u get tattoos?
yeah i noticed that too what the hell
Not a real tattoo, it’s like temporary one
Tattoos don’t fair well with him, IMO.
He got the wash off ones😂
@@wilE6764He did to cause the last video he didn't have them and the one before that he did and now in this video both if is arms are tatted 😂😂😂 gottem out the bubble gum machine at his headquarters 😂😂
Don't get your pretty little hands dirty wtf is wrong with this new age of Sterling wheel holders he admit he can't backup without lines wow
Sliding your 5th wheel aint gonna get rid of that problem. All the weight is on the trailer axles. Go back to shipper.
Always run with your king pin directly half way between your drive tires, and Indiana scales are rarely open anyway 😊 and always pull all the way forward on the Catscale.
It genuinely upsets me that someone who doesn’t know anything about truck driving could possibly mistake you for a good representation of what a truck driver should be.
You know you made it when you gettin haters. 😅 Good work Alex. KeepTruckin
Keep on trucking, man. That's the one thing about this job, not every day is gonna be a cakewalk. Keep up the good work, my guy
Good work? Are you delusional
Actually dude yo can be no more than 34k on drive and trailer axles. That does not mean that you can only be 12k max on steers. Max on dteers is what your truck manufacturer sticker says is the max i drive a 22 volvo and mine is 13k on steers
Went from juliet, IL and I'm in Florida in a 14 hrs day and never got questioned about my weights. Got a bypass on 90% of the weight stations I went thru
You have no idea what you are doing you need to go be trained for atleast a year and then just maybe you will be ok the company you drive for just hires anyone
They wont say anything to you for being 120 over on your steers....
If you know the steer axle on the new peterbilts and kenworths are naturally heavy so when fully loaded your over 12k on steers regardless
Don't waste your time sliding the 5th wheel they will never give you a ticket for steer weight.
I started reducing the time I watched your videos as the tatoos on your body started increasing. As of now I am down to about zero percent.
That's an interesting reason to not watch someone
Check the sticker on the driver side door jam or it could be on the door or on the truck it’s gonna show you what your truck front axle is rated for it shows you even the drive tires usually it’s 13200
One million subs are you planning your trip yet
I just had that conversation about steers I think we all believe 12k initially until were placed in this situation
Too bad the USDOT does not make a complete book/manual on each states trucking regulations.
lol
If only there were a trucker's atlas or something ....
I’m in the UK, I could have told him by just looking in my Rand McNally Motor carrier atlas. This guy seems a nice fella but he is not a trucker and he effectively ignored any good advice veteran drivers offered. Makes hard work of everything. They just don’t make them like they used to. Not a good advert for GP, I suspect they let him go but acted with class by stating it was mutual knowing he has considerable social media exposure. Good luck Alex.
All you had to do is move the tandems up one hole..you never move the fifth wheel
