Do not flow GPS, it can get you into trouble and you find out you have a 12'6" Bridge or a bridge that doesn't allow trucks that have 78,000 pounds. GPS can get you into trouble and you find out you have a ticket waiting for you. If the GPS tells you to get off here and your on a interstate, don't get off. I've been there and had low bridges, bridge weights and learned alot. Don't go to TranAM College.
Your truck needs a bigger turbo. Have Cleetus McFarland hook you up with some twin turbskies !!! And stop listening to the GPS w/o checking the route 1st. I have had mine take me off the highway, go 3-4 miles, then put me right back on. WTF ?? Did it again the next time I was in the same spot but I just ignored her. Always look at the overall trip before you head out. Sometimes you know a better route. Keep On Truckin' kid. You're doing great !!!
Alex as a former Hot-Shot Owner and Driver, I can tell you that waiting it out and not traveling into situations that put you, the truck, and others at risk is ALWAYS the right thing to do. Absolutely NO FREIGHT is worth your life or risk damage to a vehicle. Alternate routes are not always the best either. The Garmin you are using is designed for cars and pickups, it doesn't really have dedicated truck routes like the truck specific GPS systems do. I used the Overdryve 7 it's pre-loaded with all truck routes as well as alternates including road restrictions for trucks and will automatically detour you around non ideal truck routes. You stay safe and keep doing what your doing. Love this channel
That’s so cool! I didn’t realize there were truck oriented GPS units… I thought they were all the same, generally speaking. I learn something new everyday lol

Make sure your Garmin is set on quickest route not shortest route. Shortest route will take you through small towns. You'll end up somewhere you don't want to be.
I love traveling on roads not well traveled. Unless the weather is awful, best to stick to those that are well cleaned off. Glad you finally made it to your destination!
Really enjoying your videos, Alex. Not gonna lie, I was worried when you got off the interstate and onto the small town roads. Glad you made it through and back onto the interstate. And ONCE AGAIN, you made a delicious meal in your freakin' truck! Ugh, I gotta do better! 😅 Can't wait for the next video, my dude. Stay safe out there! 👍
Great video. Trust you instincts when gps tries to send you on a different route than what you planned. Be prepared for snow in Wyoming up to June. It can happen any time up there. I absolutely love your camera view and your commentary. Be safe. Arrive alive is a good motto.
So glad to see you made it safe and that they won’t make you drive in that crazy weather stay safe see you in your next video maybe it will be in a sunny state
I-80 is basically a seasonal road. if it's winter, dont even bother tbh. The plows can run all they want and it doesn't matter, the wind blows it right back.
I tend to stick to the interstates and US highways as much as possible. Don't always follow what your GPS is telling you. Check ahead for road conditions.
you made it! That was key. Yeah I am not trucker either, but I like hearing first hand some details of a job\career that I have little to no knowledge.
Hey, I spotted you Thursday heading into Illinois from Indiana. You were in the far right lane, it was raining a lil bit and traffic was starting to pick up to I didn't bother trying to get your attention. You were focused man!
I grew up driving frequently from Cheyenne to the other end of the state, and I promise you it's windy AF year-round, the snow just makes it worse in the winter.
Cheyenne to Salt Lake- Just stay on 80, Alex. If 80 is closed, you can bet your butt, the other roads are usually much worse. Keep it on the big road as much as possible. Messing around in these little towns on GPS adventures is going to get you into trouble.
The scale houses will tell drivers if they’re not experienced with Wyoming to stick to 80. Generally if 80 is closed, others remain open unless it’s just a whiteout. I used to make trips from Pocatello to Gillette, 2 times a week with f350 and 35 foot gooseneck. Fun trip in the winter! Transported trucks for Ford dealers. Hopefully Alex doesn’t have to experience South Pass in the winter.
I'm with you on waiting it out. Strong winds, torrential rain, blizzard conditions. didn't sign up for any of that and won't risk my life in it. I get payed a day rate regardless of if I'm waiting on weather or moving. It's just not worth the risk
Being that you are a experience driver. It's shocking that you don't trip plan and realize 80 always get shutdown in this area often. 70 will bypass issues in the winter. Letting the dm know so they can inform the receiver . Then you get more miles and deliver on time. Common sense.
I hate driving at night. Unfortunately that's what my schedule is. Can't stand it. It's darker. Obviously things freeze up more often. Animals are more active. With the kinds of information and technology we have, Garmin or Google should be able to predict with high accuracy if certain roads are drivable or not. It's not acceptable to blindly chart routes for truckers that are dangerous and risky in this day and age.
😂😂 your GPS issue made me laugh. I got lost in the hills of Pennsylvania once during a snowstorm because of that. It sucked! I was glad I didn’t get stuck. I’m always wary of GPS now.
Avoid the 70 and 80 this time of year its pointless I don't run that way no more during winter been there done that no more You are so calm and totally enjoy your videos.
There is no load so hot it needs to cool off in the ditch. A Safety Director told me that when I first started in 84. Stay out of the pack, let them go around, and watch for black ice. Has kept me alive and accident free. The receiver won't tell you this, but they would rather receive the load late than not at all. The reason you are not seeing them is they try and get all the carnage off the road and shoulders before they reopen it. I was stuck at the 80 Rest Stop on Elk Mountain once for 3 days, it was brutal. Stay safe, don't risk it for weather, it's not worth it. By the way, get an Atlas, look before you go. I live in the boonies of Texas, only tiny towns in my county. Most jobs are ranch related. Lots of hunting here too. So people earn money cleaning hunter's cabins, selling livestock food and feeding livestock on ranches. Some construction. Some stores in town, which is 1 mile in diameter. Of course there is a school in the county which employs a lot of people. I love it here but it is an hour's drive (or more) to a town with a mall, movie theater, Walmart, etc. So this place is not for everyone.
Check to see if you have your GPS on avoid hwy mode, it happen to me going across Canada and it kept detouring me onto back roads and little towns. Also worked better on car mode.
Another good meal that I eat is, beef cubes, with the basmati rice with the yum yum sauce. Combine them all together. I rotate it with beef and chicken
I'll tell you a story...i was driving through Texas and a snow/ice storm hit houston... I slowed down before I decided to ultimately stop because the roads were too bad.....trucks were passing and flashing their lights at me but I knew in my heart it would cost me more than the load if I kept going so I stopped....next day there was a truck in the ditch maybe about every 10 miles like clockwork....the one that stuck with me was a tractor that had been pinned between the trailer and a pillar to an overpass.....there was no way he survived that....and all he had go do was stop for 1 night and the roads were pretty much melted and clear by that next morning....for that his life ended....for a little bit of time and money....
Alex you are subordinated to using GPS too much, perhaps you should get a CB radio so you can keep in contact with other truckers for on road information.
Go to South I 40. Then at Kingman, AZ. Go north 93 to North I 15 to Salt Lake City. If you want to be stuck for a week, do what Alex is doing. And hear all the woman drama.

Hey Alex!!! Can you do an instructional Pre-trip video?
I live in a very small town in Idaho, we have a population of like 400. Most of the jobs here are farms or trade jobs.
Never blindly follow your gps. Make a plan which route you will take on every trip.
Do not use you flashers if you are moving! Use them only if you are stopped. An learn to read a map. Gps is normally wrong
There's a video of a cop interviewing a simi driver who said his GPS told him to go that direction. And he was on a cattle road in a field stuck. Any good driver looks at what we call a map. I can count Alex how many times you let gps take you on a field trip. STOP TRUSTING GPS.

That's the bad thing about automatic transmissions in 18 wheelers you can't keep your speed going uphill.
Just FYI it can snow big up until mothers day around there lol
am I the only one that thinks Alex is like a young Ray Ramono?
I actually commented this on one of his videos . I told him he looks and sounds like ray Romano 😂 he never replied
Alex you are subordinated to using GPS too much, perhaps you should get a CB radio so you can keep in contact with other truckers for on road information.
this video should stuck part 3 series
Go to South I 40. Then at Kingman, AZ. Go north 93 to North I 15 to Salt Lake City.
If you want to be stuck for a week, do what Alex is doing. And hear all the woman drama.
