When I started my driving adventures many many moons ago, I was very freaked out by low bridges. I was scared to death to go through Chicago and New York. You get used to those kind of! Many shippers do not have good signage and very few of them know how to tell you how to get to a dock. From their perspective when you call in you're talking to a woman or man in an office that has never driven a big truck. Due diligence when trip planning is a must. And never, never, never just go by what the company has told you or what the GPS tells you. Look things up and make phone calls... keep yourself safe! Safe travels my friend!
Okay that definitely makes me feel better than I'm not the only one concerned by some bridge heights. It definitely makes sense that Chicago and New York have some of the worst you've experienced! I'm very thankful I'm stuck to the west coast purely cause of all the low bridges on the east coast. And yeah that's what I've experienced a lot. Thankfully I'm usually able to get a pretty good lay of the land of the shipper or receiver by looking on Google maps satellite and street views, but I've now had a few times where the facility was brand new and therefore there were no images on Google maps yet. Thank you for the advice on trip planning and making calls and I really appreciate you leaving such a detailed comment!
I'm not sure why but I thought May was mostly Reefer, but I'm seeing nothing but dry vans. It's been many, many years since I've been out that way, so it's fun to see the different views. Keep on keeping on.
It depends! So we've got two main "teams" essentially, full 48 and western 11. Full 48 is all reefer, so basically any may truck East of like Denver-ish (with some exceptions) are going to be reefer, and the majority of us (probably 75%) that are west of Denver are going to have a dry van. I'm glad you're enjoying the footage! I've already recorded the next few vlogs and the views get even better so keep an eye out! 5 and 6 are a little low on "pretty views" but I think its 7 on that get REALLY pretty.
Yup that'd be why for sure! Our reefer trailers are shorter than our dry vans, so all the low bridges on the east coast is why we only run reefers out that way
11:25 Even when I go in an underground carpark and the the height limit is 6'6 or something like that, which is literally an inch taller than my truck, I'm still very nervous about that until I see other full-size pickups casually parked in the carpark then it's fine haha! But I go extra slow so the truck doesn't accidently hit a bump and go up that one inch or so hah!
Alright well that makes me feel a lot better 😂 but yeah going slow is definitely the key, I wish I had that option on the freeway but I just have to send it LOL
Fun fact, that glad hand holder 44:24-44:30 is made by Philips and the part number is PHM/15-042
If I didnt already know where you work this would be some very random and weird knowledge to have. It is a very nice glad hand holder though

@@DNASocial Oh okay. I live in Tennessee and all of the May trucks I see are reefers, so that makes sense.
